last week racked up a lot of yards and reached the endzone ones it's the Dolphins and the Jets coming up next we are situated about eight miles west of New York City at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford today we've got a week eight match up on T here as the Miami Dolphins taking on the New York Jets hi again everyone with Charles Davis I'm Brandon gard and Charles you look at this Jets ball Club they come in playing pretty good football winners of four of their last six games meanwhile for our visitors the Dolphins they can't be any better as we hit the halfway mark a perfect seven and0 on the year and when we looked at this team in August and we looked at the schedule we thought they had the potential to get off to a hot start but I don't think either of us expected s and0 [Applause] lurching closer toward the Midway point of this NFL season and we're underway on EA Sports and this will be a touch back as that sails over the in line so now here comes the jet offense as they get ready to take over they'll be led out by a first round pick back in 2021 from Ohio State it's Justin Fields coming out of Ohio State one of the top prospects in the NFL draft and it was so big that they moved up in the draft to get him to make sure that they had him and boys he got the full package loves the game Big Time arm 44 speed so good that another quarterback prospect said to him what's it feel like to run 4 four everybody wants to be that fast a throw left side to start out that's complete and he's able to get this one up to his 30 before he's out of bounds these are his numbers from last week's contest four catches 67 yards and I'd certainly expect them to use him quite a bit because he runs excellent routes has good hands and knows how to get open here's Fields now on second down and the Dolphins Rush gets home down he goes judian Clowney able to record his fifth sack of the season so certainly not the start they were looking for here as they come up on a third and 14 fields and that will be incomplete how about some Applause for the defense there they forced him to throw that one into coverage and just like that they're scaring at a fourth down well done so they're forced to punt on Fourth as this one's away fielded just inside the [Applause] 30 and they can't bring him down 35 yds on the return picked up some good blocks as well and the Dolphins will begin this drive in great field position first and 10 so now you've got their offense coming out for the first time with great initial field position and they will be led out by their seconde quarterback and I think if you ask most folks to give you their first half MVP very likely they're going to say it's this man right here the NFL's leader in touchdown passes to this point in the season still two months to go but he keep going to the PACE he's at this going to be a dangerous team come January and he could very well walk away with the [Music] MVP they'll come out throwing here on first down and ball caught Brandon a and finally down he goes as they work it inside the 10 to the seven he got 29 y that time and this is an offense as number one in the NFL in rushing and you know that has to be the focus of any game plan defensively but they can throw it too as evidence right there and they move the chains here on this opening drive that is caught at the seven yd line only a yard in the it's second and goal all defenses worry that whenever anyone catches the ball and has a head of steam come out of the back field it could turn into a big play with Miss tackles or he runs through people but they were right there waiting and they stopped him for a minimal gain a Nifty move on the run but ultimately sto short of the goal line down at the two give him right around four on the carry we'll see if they want to keep pounding here on Third and goal [Applause] K they'll set up to throw and he'll be hit as he releases it and that'll fall incomplete so they opted to pass for it on Third and goal let's see what they do on Fourth and goal well I think they threw it with the idea that if they didn't get it they would go for it on Fourth and goal so they got another play in their pocket they're going to have to call it right now no field goal here now on fourth down here that pass knocked and incomplete from his own Zone Fields completing it to the right side Johnson short completion just four yards and it's second down clock rolling as we hit the Midway point of this first quarter here's fields in trouble and the ball's out it's in the end zone loose it's loose the ball bouncing around and it's going to go out of the back of the end zone so that is going to be a safety well we we thought these two defenses they might come to play one has already come to play here a safety for the opening points of the game Brandon let's file this play away because if it turns out to be a tight game who knows this could wind up being the difference so Miami coming out for their second drive and they are trying to create some separation within the division and look CD I know that this is still the first half of the season but this is a big match up no matter where it falls because these the top two teams right now in that Division and if you could build a bit of a cushion as you head towards the second part of the Season that allows you to survive the expected injuries potential upset losses all of those things and still be in good [Applause] shape now this one complete down field on the left side and he'll have it past Midfield almost to the 40 before being taken down that one covers 29 yds first down down Miami back to throw here and the Jets pressure too much as down he goes it'll be a loss of 10 and it'll bring up [Music] [Applause] second they'll look to throw here his throw incomplete so Charles here offensively this group really a high level s and0 and we're still a long ways from discussing a potential unbeaten season I think but to use a golf expression no blemishes on the card at least to this point yeah unlik my teenage years where there were blemishes everywhere the dermatologist was on speed but I do think that they're going to have to start answering questions about this start if they keep winning games you and I both know we in the media we'll start to obsess about it and wonder can they take it all the way to an undefeated season it's a short here complete to his tight end and they'll have it in the Red Zone before he crosses over out of bounds another good gain that's now 35 yd combined on those last two plays so the ball down to the 16 here for first and [Applause] 10 che [Applause] che one back in the back field he the carry and the Dolphins are going to be set up with a first and goal as a nice run there gets him down to the 6yd line we are in for a good one as we're through one on EA Sports It's Dolphins football here as we begin the second quarter as they go to work on a first and [Applause] goal and they'll keep leaning on the running game back to the ground and he'll take this into the end zone for a Dolphins touchdown a great play there his 12 rushing touchdown on the year as his guys are able to extend their lead some good running there at the end of the drive he had the burst that set up the first and goal and then one play later he's in the end zone Brandon what I liked about that sequence is I'm not sure who made the play call but they understood the situation understood the momentum a nice hard charging run give it right back to him and let him cap things off for the extra point Cameron [Applause] Dicker and this is good as they extend it out now to a n nothing lead so that drive takes him down the field in eight plays and it's capped off by a touchdown run of six yards the kicking team out for Miami as they will send this one [Applause] away and not much happening on the return as he'll get this to about the 23 now the Jets offense gets ready to head back on the field it hasn't gone particularly well for them that's obvious in these conditions no points so far they've got to get that offense on track the question how do they do it it is the age-old question isn't it and to me finding a way to make sure your Playmakers touch the ball without it being too exotic meaning you don't have to go deep down the field maybe hit them on those short passes on the perimeter make sure you just turn around and hand it to your best runner and get out of the way don't cause any extra stress on your offense here's second and 10 and he's able to plow forward up to about the 29 just shy of the 30 they get six that'll leave them with third and four I think we can safely say that those types of players are the backbone of this offense we know not every Run's going to be a big hitter but you know they'll take that type of result on each and every attempt now Fields firing quickly here and that's complete and he'll be taken down but he does have first down yardage they get six on the pickup there as the drive will continue would it be safe to say that as precise as routes are supposed to be run in the NFL maybe they're not quite as precise in college ball that's accurate yeah and I think we saw a college route in the NFL there just find the soft spot find The Dead Zone and find the first first down and that's what he just did he'll get thate to his tiend and he up the 45 being tackled it'll go as a gain of 11 and a Jets first down here's fields that complete to DS and he's able to get this one down to the 40 yd line back to back nice gains that one for 14 yds and another first yd off play action Fields the Dolphins get there this time and they bring him down the sack recorded it's a loss of five and now it's second down y a shotgun snap Fields Under Pressure they got him again it'll go in the books as a seven yd loss on the sack and it's third down and they're picking up right where they left off with the shut out that they pitched last week a huge part of that this pass rush they know how to get after people offensively good luck finding some answers right now a long way to go here on third down for the eighth play of the drive to throw as Fields under pressure again and down he goes again the defense rising to the challenge and setting him back on the sack fourth down so Jake kamart is out [Applause] there the call for a fair Catch and it's made at about the 23 yd line it'll be a 39 yd punt no return so now the Dolphins set to take over on offense they've got the lead right now and remember they are riding that very impressive seven game winning streak trying to push it to eight they'll try and start this drive in the air going to throw right side here complete and he'll be out of bounds but able to get it up past the 45 that good for 21 yards on the catch and run so many times in my career I've heard coaches talk about completions are one thing but as long as we're there at the catch and we get guys on the ground we can live with that but if you're going to give up 10 12 15 yards after the catch then your defense is going to be in a lot of trouble they'll look to throw now on first down being chased out left now he'll throw deep left side it's incomplete took a shot couldn't connect Zone coverage there and they were playing deep that makes obviously a little bit harder to run by guys and that time it was not much of a window to get the ball in there and it winds up incomplete and second and 10 he'll look to throw again and his throw is going to be Incomplete Back Back defensiv moment in in going for again he'll drop to throw able to find the open man that's complete down the right sideline and he will finally be taken out of bounds they're able to convert on third down and that sets up a first and [Music] goal they'll look to throw again he's going to leave this for his running back it's complete touchdown a great effort there he scored on the ground and through the air and they are able to add on to their advantage the touchdown all set up by the big Play One Snap before but they finish it off here with a shorter completion this time for the score I like how they stuck with what got him there right big pass play got the momentum going right that's you created with a play like that and you come right back with another pass play to finalize things off the kicking team out for Miami as they will send this one away and they will not get a chance to return this one as it's through the end zone for a Touchback the New York set to take the field and this not an easy situation you're down early in the elements you're on the road how do you get the mojo back well one thing is to remember that as an offensive player you have a much better idea of what you're trying to accomplish and where you're trying to go than the defender so in this case because you know it you can make your Cuts with a little more decisiveness maybe a second fake some double moves things of that nature to go ahead and try and put some pressure on the defense playaction it's fields and he gets this one to Midfield before he's brought down the Jets are going to use the first of their timeouts as they'll stop it with just over a minute to go before half time this offense finding its legs now here's another first and 10 from the 50 here's [Music] fields and an incomplete pass that'll stop the clock here with just under a minute to play in half number one an incomplete pass on first down that leads to a second and 10 back to throw Fields over the middle and there's a diving catch a gain there 2 yard y on first down they'll run it on the draw play now the Jets going to use the second of their three timeouts as they'll stop it with 25 seconds to go here in half number one looking to throw on second down Fields throwing quickly there but it's incomplete they're putting together a drive here in the final minutes of the half but the coverage has been tight all game long and they certainly want to keep him off the scoreboard here now it's Fields pass taken in by his good tight end and he gets it inside the 10 to the n and with just four seconds left in this first half a timeout call roll so with four seconds to go in the half here's the field goal unit onto the field from the right hash here should be an easy one and his kick is good and they'll at least get on the board here still trailing but 16 to three now maybe a moral victory of sorts they're on the board here late in the first half but this offense just hasn't looked that Shar yeah but at least they got the three points right at least have something to quote unquote hang their hats on and maybe feel a little bit better about themselves as they headit to the half oh a dangerous Return Man showing it here still going past the 30 so we've reached the intermission and what right now is a 13-point game as we'll send you down the coast now to Orlando that's where we find Jonathan Coachman ready with eight of the NFL season we'll get started over at the Super Dome in New Orleans where you see the final score there Damen Pierce a touchdown run in the victory from there we head up to Kansas City check on the Chiefs at Arrowhead and you can see there it's the visiting Colts who have the lead in that one Josh Allen has thrown two touchdown passes finally we're off to Atlanta check on the Falcons at home at Mercedes-Benz Stadium as you can see the score there in the second quarter Amari Cooper well over 100 yards with two touchdown catches to boot both these teams getting a chance to dry out maybe change their cleats if need be but halim's just about over time to get back to it and for the call of the second half here's Brandon God okay Coach thanks as always to you and the gang in Orlando as we welcome back in for quarter number three forecast calling for more the same the rain set to continue as we are underway in the second half and he'll be tackled just shy of the 25 now Brandon auk ready to bring out the rest of this offense here for this upcoming series and I know that they've double teamed him a couple times but not a ton whatever they're doing isn't working he's up over 100 yards we'll see how they adjust and when they do that they weaken their defense in other places as well how many times have we done games where we've seen a guy have a big game like this but it's usually not by himself is it usually it opens it up for other people to have big games as well and he's able toow forward up to about the 29 just shy of the 30 give him five on the carry there and it'll be second down here's a play fake as they set up to throw and his throw here is incomplete this defense tried to do its part active hands on that play but their offense hasn't given them much to work with so they're not going to worry about it on their side of the ball all they're concerned about can they create some scoring opportunities and help out that offense he'll be taken down the Jets get in there for the sack Max Crosby gets in there to drop for loss of 13 Y and it's also fourth down now they need to stop to get back into this game and here's one right to start the third quarter yeah anytime you go to the lockers with that two three score deficit you're right you need that stop get the football back and they've done just that series to series play to play and he gets this away and look at this this is a good one this will be fielded at the 17 he'll be hard pressed to match that one that a 65 yd Punt and the Jets will take over first and 10 so here's the Jets offense now as they get ready for their first possession of the second half and Charles they're certainly still right in this game but they need that offense to wake up and in a hurry yeah I like the way you put it they certainly did seem to sleepwalk a bit in the first half now that their defense has done its job it's their turn now to go out and try and get some points throwing on first down but this one winds up to be incomplete the passing window are just not there that's just another example of how great this defense has been all game long and that's exactly what a top 10 defense can do they can really change the game Tempo and frustrate you as you try to execute offensively after the incomplete pass here now is second and [Music] 10 [Applause] Fields The Improv act there good for nine and now they'll be looking at a third short third and one partner just a second earlier and they might have had him because they certainly thought they were going to close in and drop him behind the line of scrimmage but he had just enough time to dodge the pressure and he ends up getting yardage before being stopped fields to throw on Third and one and this pass broken up the contact well timed there and now fourth down he's had trouble finding open receivers all game CD because really there hasn't been many this defense has been all over them yeah they're one of the better defenses in the league and every time I talk to someone around the NL they all say the exact same thing they're so fundamentally sound it's hard to execute against them so possession goes over here on the punt and it'll be Dolphin [Applause] football come on [Applause] they'll start on the ground here on first down and he'll have this past the 30 prior to going out of bounds give him 10 yds on the pickup and that'll make it second in a foot or so on any explosive run you can almost feel the ground shaking and that's from the offensive lineman creating space for their Runners I had Old Coach tell me before that he always told his runners run around the offensive line in pregame get used to the ground shaking so you don't trip and fall when it happens in a game and he'll have a Dolphins first down as the tackle made just shy of the 40 second and inches is often times an invitation for an offens coordinator to take a big shot down field because he feels like he can come back on third down and pick up the first down but sometimes you just don't want to break tendency stay with what you are stay with who you know and go get the first down that's exactly what they did and a strong run that time as he's across Midfield and down to the 43 61 yd rushing now on eight carries for him so far so injet territory now here's first and 10 at the 43 hands it off out of the gun and down to the 36 yd line here a solid run on first down gain of seven leaves him with a second and three hey when you get good yardage like that on first down it really does a whole lot of good for your entire offense but I love the way he's finishing those runs at the end of things he's making sure get just a little bit extra and this time not quite to the 30 it'll be down at the 31 yd line a gain of five good enough for the first down now they'll switch it up here and look to throw wide open receiver complete touchdown dolphin a great play there his fifth touchdown now on the year and the Dolphins are able to extend their lead that drive that really increased their cushion felt very military to me very precise methodical that's one of the words you've taught me and they just got it done and slowly but surely now starting to pull away a little bit things looking good for them here in the third quarter not only pulling away you mention that slowly but surely you also drain clock too with a drive like that so you really give yourself an advantage and of course on the two-point try had the option to run or pass they pass it there and it works felt pretty straight forward didn't it an open receiver balls put on him two points for them the kicking team out for Miami as they will send this one away and he will be brought down here inside to 20 good coverage as he's dropped at the 17 the Jets ready to get going again here on offense I kind of feel like they've reached a Do or Die point in this game Charles if they're going to try to pull off an impressive comeback it has to start right here right now yeah now they've got a Fields hit and the ball is loose second time in this game Charles the ball is squirted out from his hands luckily his teammate was there to pounce on it you're right got the lucky bounce able to retain possession you know we often talk about the combine and why do we measure quarterback's hands is that really a big deal is for situations like this do you have the hands big enough and strong enough to hold on to and hit behind the line he lost the football it's loose and once again the dolphin defense holds firm as they'll stop him behind the line of scrimmage wow that ball gets knocked free but a teammate comes along and Scoops it up almost like it's almost like baseball at that people on base and scoring position one guy doesn't get him home the next guy comes through and picks him up and avoids the turnover this time able to hold on to the football but not much room to run before they can get the punt away whistles as we've come to the end of the third quarter of action we'll return with more after this break you're watching the NFL on EA Sports back now here at metti Stadium a lot of folks starting to make their way to the parking lot their guys Trail big here to begin quarter number four the punt team on now as from their end zone they get it away Miami's offense set and ready to go and this team continues to stake its claim as Super Bowl favorites they are now eyeing an eigh straight win as they begin this drive here in the fourth quarter good starting field position for the Dolphins as they have it first and 10 at their own 42 they'll start this drive out on the ground and he's across the 45 it'll be second down I feel like I could see what he was thinking on that carry want to that big tackle through the hole ended up only getting four yard on the carry I think he had designs on that one being bigger and only a couple there as he'll take this up to the 47 just not a whole lot of room to right there on that carry no not at all they did a really nice job staying in their proper places and not allowing any lanes to open up back to throw work in the middle of the field and he's got a man complete and he is going to have the Dolphins first down as they're able to get the third down [Music] conversion here's a hand off out of the gun and some strong running there as he's down just shy of the 20 on the edge of the Red Zone 91 yd rushing for him now as he has been tremendous all day long running game working they'll stick with it on first down and he takes it down to the 10 yd line they get 10 more there and I believe that'll be enough for another first down it will he'll look to [Music] [Applause] throw to the goal line but it's incomplete well fourth quarter with a three-score lead here Charles but they're still going back to the air and looking for more points well with this game well in hand it's an opportunity for the guys to come off the bench and get chance to play and a lot of coaches they want to run their full Playbook no matter who's on the field and he'll get about four there as he takes it from the 10 down to the six third so it's third and six and this will be the eighth play of the drive looking to throw [Applause] this will be caught at about the six and I don't think he got there no he's short by maybe a foot maybe call it fourth and inches the offense here not budging they're going to fight for it on Fourth and inches now a shotgun snap as they'll look to throw and it's going to be batted down and will go the other way with a football they throw for it on Fourth and goal at the one and the Jets are going to get the football back they'll start on the ground here on first down and he'll get him a little space here up to the 5 yd line whistles now in a Timeout defensively so a wise move as they'll use the first of their timeouts to force one more play before the two-minute warning and he'll get it up to the 12 yd line here so it's Jets football as we get you reset here here they've got a first and 10 as they search for a late [Applause] score now here's a pass on first down that's knocked away and incomplete well he certainly thought he had a window to push that ball down field but as soon as he released the throw the corner was there to slam that window shut on second down here's fields and he's going to go down back at his own five yd line it's a sack and quickly we're going to get another stop here with 154 left as they call the timeout defensively now on Third and long they'll look to throw and that's going to be too high out of bounds and incomplete they lead big and a major part of that has been how they've taken their play to a whole new level this second half no points allowed since the break and you can add another incompletion to the total number that they forced in this runaway contest returnable here from the 38 a nice return that time of about 14 yds and this offense they're going to have excellent field position they take over with a first and 10 on the short side of the field Miami set to take over and it's all but certain that this win streak is going to extend another week just another tremendous performance in this one they'll try and run some clock here as they keep it on the ground and a pretty good burst right there as he'll take this down to the thir 33 give him 15 yds on that one and the Dolphins have a first down and they'll give him another shot here on the ground down to about the 32 they went right back to him but he pretty much had nowhere to go on that play the previous carry looked pretty good that one maybe was a little tired I don't know yeah maybe he should have tapped out and had a second back come in and maybe make that run who knows and he is out of bounds inside the 30 128 yds rushing for him now to this point and there we saw one of the downsides of blitzing during a run down because sometimes you get out of your gaps you don't fit the Run quite as well because you're headed towards the ball carrier with abandon the Jets will bring in a nickel set here as they try to stop this third down they'll drop to throw he's got this complete to a on the out R and down he goes taking it inside the 10 just shy of the five at the six now the Dolphins will use the last of their timeouts that'll be their third and final stoppage here as we step aside that one looks like he'll throw here they'll roll him out right he's got it touchdown Dolphins Brandon auk from six yards away and the Dolphins add on to their lead and it's looking like that win streak is going to extend another week another touchdown here in the fourth quarter and Charles I think we can start to consider that this undefeated streak of theirs is going to be and we remember of course scoring plays need to be verified upstairs and I think they're going to at least take a look at this so they called it a touchdown originally and this will stay a touchdown after the video review so they had it right a good hold in these wet conditions the point after is up and good and that'll increase their lead to 28 the kicking team out for Miami as they will send this one away and he had no room to run as he's tackled down inside the 20 the New York set to take the field well it's been a struggle so far for this offense Charles it's not only that they haven't been able to put the points up but really stringing yards together has been a real issue for them in this one I'm so glad you brought the because I was thinking to myself we've seen a lot of NFL games and we've seen our share of lopsided contests but in almost all of them both offenses have put up at least 200 yards in a game but not in this one this has been a display of offense that frankly I think the two of us have watched from behind our hands trying to spread our fingers wide enough to actually see the
