Skyler Woodward vs Justin Hall - One Pocket - 2024 Derby City Classic rd 6

welcome everybody to railbirds TV and the 2024 Derby City Classic this is the one-pocket division and this is round six I am your host Scott Frost aka the freezer and as you see on your screen we've got two killers getting ready to battle it out both of these guys have a loss sky Woodward got defeated by David Matlock in round three and Justin Hall got defeated by Brandon Shuff in round five so someone will go home it's lag for the break alternate the break after each game each opponent has a designated pocket the first to make any eight balls wins any foul will cost you a ball three foul rule is in effect and I'm looking forward to a pretty creative and quick paced match between these two guys oddly enough I watched the match in person between Matlock and Woodward and I was highly impressed on how good Matlock played I can honestly say I don't think Skyler made any type of mistakes Matlock played that good so Woodward obviously wins the lag typically in a race to three if you win the first break you are a heavy favorite biting that both players play even now the young man at the table everyone familiar with one pocket should know Justin Hall he's played a creative shot he'd like to get the QQ ball up in there and I think he's done that so in one shot he is semi out of the break sky might take a look at this purple and white ball we call it the [Music] 12 what does he want to do with the Q ball does he go up it tells me the three does not pass the two and this is tight from my point of view and look at that ball straighten out we are playing on 4 and 1/2 in pockets they are 9 ft Pro AMS on brand new Simona's cloth and these tables play as true as they get like to go into the four there and he did perfectly hit it so well that he's trapped himself this rarely happens didn't expect to make that ball just wanted to get it close so right out of the gate I know Skyler's playing well but he's come off a defeat to Matlock and obviously H Hall is coming off a defeat to shove but I tell you what Justin looks pretty good right now Skyler going at the four like to Snooker him behind the seven but I don't know if he wants to flirt with that pretty good hit it's a threat for sure Paul needs to do something with this four now get the cuq ball up there somewhere around the one but the eight is also bankable but not from there he's actually got Skyler completely elevated if he wants to do anything towards the pack so this could be potential trouble for Woodward like to find a way to get to the 12 and I don't see it due to the position of this Q ball what a great shot by Hall he's going to have to probably roll up on the seven tied up up there around the four skyer is aggressive obviously very good executing Bank shots straight end shots he's executioner to say the least his Q Power does all the work he's taking a look from up there at what Hall might have to take a gander at I don't mind that decision he's keeping him real flat or further down on the left side of the that eight ball still a problem for Hall if he'd like to chip this 12 and bring the Q ball up below the one he's got to protect the bank on the eight because sky can stick him in the stack and Bank the 81 rail not Bank it to make it but sky can Bank it to get it close and that three looks to me like it just doesn't go and that kind of hurts Hall as well looking to possibly do something with the one I like the decision he knew he was going to clear the Q Ball by hitting hitting it thin what does the 814 look like for Woodward can he come into the back of the 12 he's not looking at it so it's probably not laying right looks like he's going to stop on the 13 this is dangerous [Music] o could have actually been worse he got a little bit of a graze off the 12 Hall has options here he's going to Cut Bank this 13 and go up towards the three and it's pretty good 13 creeped through those balls so now Woodward has a lot of balls he needs to protect from obviously the five being one of the bigger ones he said heck with that I'm getting the Q ball up here can't really fault him he' like to have had the QQ ball more to the left rail the 15 does go Hall's not entertaining it I can't blame him well that needs to settle that was a little hot he didn't expect it to come through all those balls like that and you got to be careful here if your Sky if you looked across the six Hall might entertain the 1510 too that's what he's looking at because the 10 and two are so close it's pretty easy to judge with the 15 so I wouldn't be surprised if Skyler just two rails the six up towards those balls oh this is going to be interesting if Hall can see enough of the 15 okay he's not going to entertain it it must be steeper than I think he's going to cross the one over two rails and go up towards the three again oh he caught the kiss nice play [Music] real nice play even if he doesn't catch the kiss he's probably better up under the six Woodward is cut off from the four he could kick one rail softly to the four that would be okay it's a big ball real big ball don't hit it hard enough to scratch in case you hit it bad you can't scratch behind it I don't know about this he got in [Music] mind did the 10 save him hall probably going to play this 52 rails towards the 12 avoid the 10 allog together send the ql up towards the right middle or past it he decided to go into the [Music] 10 now Woodward can clear he's got to protect against the long on the five or the [Music] two did pretty pretty good there real good there these balls look like they favor Hall but all Skyler needs is a look at something they all go in his pocket as well okay he could see the 14 neither one of these guys waste any time they see the shot and execute does the 12 Bank below the two can he stun it can he get to it it's hard to tell looks like he can get to it do he want to go forward behind the 14 well he tried he's not going to be happy with that feeble attempt there he's overcut that Q will ended up pretty sweet though does he want to go up towards the four four looking at a combination Bank get the Q ball down he caught the two well Hall's going to have another opportunity the 14 these balls slowly starting to look real bad for Woodward well he's hit it too thick this time too thin the time before too thick this time next time he'll be right in the [Music] middle now is he forced to go at the one or can he kick one rail and make the seven is that worth it is the value there or is there a risk of selling out a bank on the 12 when you do that it's not even easy to kick one make the seven due to it being out so far we are playing on 4 and 1/2 in Pockets like I said with newer cloth so that seven is a big ball you could kick at it but boy if he catches it rail first he can sell a bank out the one does bank I don't know if he could hold for position on the 15 he's looking from up there somewhere around the 10 he considering banking the [Music] eight well if he could knock it down he might get some oh he's decelerated pretty heavily there meant to draw the ball let up cuq ball almost Scrat Ed Justin Hall's pocket starting to look like Time Square on New Year's Eve the problem is he can't get to [Applause] anything well really good strike look at this hit here two rails for the money does it drop wow what a great hit too he did jump up a fraction but he had to turn that ball pretty heavily the eight is a big ball if you'd like to kick one rail to the long rail or to the top rail I don't believe he's got much this direction there's nothing wrong with kicking one rail must see something maybe framing at everything thing oh look at this trick shot okay well that takes care of [Music] business Force the qball through a little grin from Sky Hall going to continue to keep the pressure on playing for five Woodward has zero surprised he hasn't even looked at the nine is he looking to just come off of the two here yeah I felt like that would leave Justin the 10 don't want to leave Woodward that 13-1 well he's hit it thinner than he'd liked he's going to force this young man to shoot sooner or later I believe it's now cutting at the 12 uh he's overcut it took care of the Q ball Justin Hall coming off the three going to put the stripe near his pocket oh an even better elevation over the nine this is big trouble for [Music] Woodward looking at the scenario you might just have to bunt the nine meaning roll on top of it that's only going to buy you time as I think Hall will do something similar unless he's not jacked up on it Skyler could bank at the nine but he could also just roll up on it this hit and here he comes how are you feeling are you in the mood for the 13-1 okay he's going to clear the 103 I thought he'd lose it there really tough to protect on the 14 irregardless Justin Hall playing for five needs to get above the 15 and five like to get on the one or the six ideally bumping the 10 would be great he isn't going to like that I don't believe he can make the five from there and if he can I believe he's got to twist [Music] it he's acting like it goes he did twist it he's making tough work out of it but he's making it happen Justin Hall playing for three continuing to apply the pressure going to play the 10 now like to get it between the six and one and I'd say he's done that even better really playing for two often times these shots when you play one pocket after you've come with some banks and different applications the long straight shot becomes difficult at best I believe he's got to play the 13 Elevate slightly take the cut on the six and it's not easy doesn't want that to fall on the side well I don't know if it'll hurt him if it does playing for two Woodward needs a m but a ball what is IDE deal here cross the six nudge the two 1512 open from behind that would be wonderful he's come up short so Woodward Off the Mark a little bit here early in this match play does not dictate to me how he's going to play you just rarely see him play a poor match he's going to make mistakes he's human but all he needs is a real good starter and the young man just catches fire it's pretty good as well keeping Woodward flat on the two looking to see if the 12 passes the 15 he's caught it too thick maybe he's caught it just right wow look at this hit Hall looking to come around that needs to settle oh it killed nicely wouldn't be surprised if Woodward banks at the four biting the 12 doesn't go was entertaining the two on the two hard to get that ball to come long on the second rail he's caught it nicely he's caught it very very nicely he's actually got protection against the Green six or with the green six can he swerve the one in boy it looks tight this is about as good of VI you get but he must be feeling good about it boy it looked tight to me and it was tight surprised he made that decision that quick quickly maybe it was easier than it looked on our [Music] monitor it needs to settle I felt like maybe he could have shot the two there then used the four to come three rails and get flat on the 13 so maybe a little quick quick in his judgment there cuz it's going to be hard to get straight on this 13 I feel like that's almost where you need to be to be able to shoot it he's going to come around at a work Woodward will be happy to get another ball or two from here if he thinks he can hold this he might do that for the 12 that's what he's doing he's got a good Bridge so he can do [Music] that looks to me like he's missed this ball not terrible he's back in the game Justin Hall with six Woodward with [Music] four looking to do something with the 12 his biggest concern is the red three yeah so he's going to chop the three doesn't want to make it that'll [Music] work these balls are definitely coming off the rails Sharp is he looking to cross this coming up into the one excuse me into the three using the six and one as protection did he get there and if he didn't he's got Hall elevated over the three oh very cute little Play I Like it he needed to open those balls up they've been causing them problems for a minute now Skyler looking to two round the six very awkward oh what a clean execution that was just to get it close is good very nice coming thinly off the 12 with inside English going into the back of the six that's what these great players do they look for a little bit extra every time [Music] I believe he was trying to two rail the one and that's going to sting caught the three the three will come up and Halls playing for two and to crack Skyler's break in game number one Skyler says that's good so an interesting game in number one hopefully they get the bugs worked out thank you guys so much this this below the four I'm sure he can but he doesn't want to lose the Q ball he wouldn't mind coming into the backside of the six oh he tried to catch the six what did the 1112 end up doing that could be Bad News Bears for Woodward if he can't play the 1112 and it doesn't look good the 12 looks very high so the Q ball straighten out a little bit at the speed he hit it just missed the six he's looking at the 14 I don't know if this ball is rollable though I think he might have to hit this with a little Pace new cloth tough to judge if you roll it yeah and it's dropped down that new cloth will get you every time you know the ball's going to lengthen out so you've got to play for it especially when you're rolling them can Hall get to the six curious pretty cute got a good little kiss there but still very cute played the four off the [Music] 14 once again Skyler faced with some serious adversity he's got to get back here behind the four or the 15 soft kicking the four uh feel like Justin's going to cross this nine over and what does he see the six off the 12 just straight to the 15 with the six yeah love it six off the 12 and buried him kick one rail to the left short Rail and try and catch the bottom of the six it's definitely available that's what he's going to do and he's hit it too short little flinchy there that back swing it was just a kick I think Hall wants to get him below the nine again that's going to be short of the mark so that's a big error he's going to lose his position now it's up to Skyler to take [Music] advantage looks to me like he's going to put him below the 15 but he might Bank it he's gone into this nine with a combination Bank hard to tell from where I'm at doesn't like it tells me the 73 combination is a nogo do you Bank the four into the balls and try and Stitch him up behind the one touchy touchy shot he's going to go into the one with speed soft kick this actually a very effective effective shot a lot of times because that four will cover up a lot of options when you kick that with speed it kind of clears gives your opponent options Woodward going at the 10 it does have [Music] sideboards well he doesn't need sideboards one rotation shy of doing some real damage shout out to the great Steve Booth top right of your [Music] screen founder of onepocket.org nice hit there by Justin Hall put him up under the four definitely not devastating can Hall come off of the seven play the seven into the five or even the three and get behind the four maybe the three into the eight that's what he's looking at well I don't see much wrong you can come behind the four pretty heavily even with a little pace you're not going to sell anything out you also have cover from the green six he's going to pass [Music] it felt like he could do some real damage there Skyler trying to clear to the top side of the 15 or the bottom yes the top side nicely done [Music] o does he entertain the seven two rails he looking at the three off the eight into the 13 no that's a little to Crazy speaking of crazy there's a man on the left of your screen that executes some of the wildest shots in the game Tony Chan AKA T rex two doesn't look bad boy it's tough to commentate these guys they play so unconventional at times Hall a little more predictable than Woodward Woodward says I've got no problem leaving Justin Hall straight in on the 15 and I can't blame him because there's not a future there looks like he can get to the left side of the 11 to bank it back up maybe I'm wrong this is about the best view I could get of it so the six goes he wouldn't have shot it if it didn't go he just hit it too thick clearly so surprising that Woodward left him there but it worked now he's looking at the two3 combination about bringing the Q ball around two rails and clipping the two he's going to kill it needs it to carry yeah that's going to be short I think he can cut it though and come over behind the 15 needs to get there cheap gasoline again hul looking chop the 15 by the looks of things swinging the QQ ball and what a great hit he's going to go into the five though pretty difficult result especially where the three lays it's a little high of the pocket so it's not exactly hanging right and that makes things difficult meaning he cannot kick to the rail below below us one rail to the three without a little concern needs a double kiss here he's played rail first he did actually get the double kiss did move the two just a fraction not a foul you need to move two or more for it to become a foul your opponent has the option to move it back but it barely moved so they'll play on [Music] interesting crossing the five over doesn't want those to tie up they did he recognized it immediately that could come back to haunt him in the future oh yeah very nice hit Woodward quickly looking at the crossbank a lot of distance the two is available for Woodward if he can get it down but this Q ball is going to come off pretty hot it's awfully thin [Applause] decided to kick and stick can't blame him with a four to one ball lead needs to win this game Justin looking to play the 8-1 bank combination or combination [Music] Bank just short I believe he had the 28 combination following it Skyler not even looking at the seven not saying that's the shot saying he's not looking at it that of work got to be a little careful here he's going to go into the 12 most likely wants to get over there behind the one and 13 came up quite a bit on [Music] that making the two or the eight backup table I think he did pretty well from cutting Hall off of the seven he's going to take a Peak at the two though it will shorten on these tables well he's overcut it I believe and not the proper speed either Woodward will shoot at this he's playing for four that ball definitely did bank for Hall just overcut at a fraction tip of high left there Center cup nice rub off the 12 I believe he can squeeze this four down yeah nicely done he's gotten the most out of that playing for two and to tie this match up at one game a [Music] piece looking to cross the seven maybe a touch of outside English I don't know that it's going to get there again and he short do Justin try to play the six cross [Music] Corner one of the best bank poool players in the world and he did play cross corner with precision Center to high right QQ ball here throw the seven down well done what's the qball going to do it's going to stay up might be forced to come off the 14 here unless he sees something Bank the five one rail and carry him the 14 towards your hole wonder if I can get the the other view yeah that's not available the 14 is too heavy into the five so you might be forced to just gra this 14 but as soon as I say that he will do something [Music] different decided to kick at the five the speed was good see can't Fulton got through the [Music] inning this will work really nice QQ ball there by Woodward going to be tricky to keep Skyler off of some type of bank here or cut did well he want to catch that heavy and he did coming around three rails tight this third rail really helps you control the speed to get to that bottom [Music] rail that'll be okay I think Woodward can come off the eight again come around I don't know that he wanted the eight poke it head out there Hall might take a swing at this especially where the one and 13 are oh nice clean hit it's going to be short he put a good hit on [Music] it good control there as well High inside QQ ball all about the speed on that shot it's a great shot to PR practice comes up a lot might be okay to just roll under the 13 I don't know we' got to catch the right side of the 13 not the left he might have left Woodward a two on this one he can do what he wants with the Q ball weak and short Justin Hall not going for the eight this time believe he was kicking at that but it's turned out okay by his reaction tells me he was trying to kick to the back of it caught the one going in everything Rosy four rails here possibly I'm surprised he did that I felt like he could leave him the eight but he's also left him elevated this is tricky do you decide to come all the way down just to secure some type of a built in safety I can't imagine he rolls this but maybe he will if he makes it he's back in the game okay he's come all the way down but I don't know what good that's really going to do him wward taking a look at the two on the one think he'd consider if the 13 wasn't there cuq ball will probably end up on the top rail here well he's come up a little we weak did he thread the needle negative some body movement from Woodward there tells me both of these guys could be a bit tired very possible at this [Music] event oh a mish hit he's gotten away with it he's caught the eight Way Too Thin actually caught the lower right end of the point gotten away with it could have easily scratched to make matters worse I believe the one has the eight covered up well wrong again similar shot that Hall just had if you wants to go forward on the 13 He said no thank you that was well done no clear path for Woodward here chipping the one needs that Q ball to travel does Woodward take on the eight he can stiff it play it short to the lower left he only needs two do you risk that wow and he's played it too short and this is not what he wanted does the one go that's about as bad as it gets for misfortune Hall had some opportunities to come with the long shot earlier in the match he's got it down this time as he go into the 13 here Bing the eight he does and the Eight's going to drop what a turn of events here Justin Hall playing for three this ball here to tie the game [Music] up he's going to get it down two rails on the five it's going to be short but pretty good from where he was got the maximum out of it each player playing for two but Woodward really needs to win this game no time to [Music] panic wow he baked it straight back he was trying to three rail that ball caught it way too thick these tables are playing short a lot of people in the building there is some moisture causes the table to play a little bouncier than you'd expect especially on new cloth that being said this shot's not a give [Music] me Justin Hall happy to have it stay level did have some body movement a little snatchy there caught it a fraction thick again so what was an error from Woodward turned out to be genius just got a soft kick to the 14 [Music] found that a little interesting I felt like you might want to go the other way on the 12 to get those closer to that top corner you need both yeah now Woodward going to put distance on you well he's lost the qall he's lost the plot tried to two rail the 12 with speed he three rails short these guys do play that shot to where the 12 will move out if you miss it but the plan failed Woodward with ball in hand to tie this match up and retain the [Music] break these are Woodward owes a ball going into the two well already in trouble tough to reach he going heavy into the nine either one of these guys playing their best pool by any means we all have these matches seen it over and over and I've been involved with it a million times now he's looking at the 13 he had everything available bet he would like that shot [Music] over and it just holds up Woodward might take a strike at the nine can he see enough of it to shoot it across Corner if he can the 1215 look good if he can get this nine down he can do some real damage he can win the game from it he cannot see enough of it I guess the six has him just barely eclipsed now he's looking at it these guys are really tricking me today [Music] the six must just barely have him it must be real close looking to come off the two and maybe go into the [Music] 13 [Music] he's done well with it it's as good as you can ask he's not happy with it but I wouldn't be too upset Justin Hall had 62 balls wide open and got two he pulled one of my moves he wants to TW twist back this nine I don't think it's I don't think it's valuable I don't think the future is [Music] there went up table to take a look at that 1215 that tells me he was considering the nine he knows he'd go through the five and up table yeah that's pretty good at least containing does not love the way the 15 and five ended [Music] [Music] up oh this is going to come back this is going to come back did he get an angle he did so he can go forward or he can try and go into the eight here I wonder if we can get a look from the other angle and see if anything else goes yeah it would be okay if he can go into the eight or catch the edge of the 15 would be ideal well that's not the right Edge but he's going to have a bank going at the six here and nicely hit that will fall now can you come up into the eight or do you take the bank Woodward owes one I would consider taking the bank I think it's probably the safest move well that's come off a lot hotter than I expected Paul playing for two come a little too high on that bank sending them Upstream making life very difficult for Woodward who needs every ball on the table plus [Music] one twist back on the 12 boy did he ever twist it wow that's maximum twist [Music] there Justin hall probably going to take a look at this nine just draw the qall back short if you're going to miss it you know you're probably going to miss it short especially that bank the nine will come up doesn't have a lot here doesn't really want to move the 9 and 12 you need those balls down here in order to win the game I think you've got to roll up to the three even though he probably doesn't want to trailing so much in this game he's going to go at the [Music] eight okay little [Music] thin oh that was a nice clean hit by Justin Hall he is going to take game number three and he's also beat Woodward on his break again so the break has been losing so far then I want to thank these event sponsors big bank here it looks good wow didn't think you could miss that long and have it not go especially if you don't hit The One if he can make the 15 I know that's not his style but I think that's what he's got to [Music] do pretty sure he was trying to get him up in there between the 8 and 14 ladies and gentlemen fans around the world welcome to2 Justin looking at the three off the 13 into the 10 wrap the cube all around is it necessary you could just Bank the nine towards the one stitch him up under the three on and of5 think he likes this I feel like the 11 does go in Skylar's pocket the lower left okay he's overcut [Music] it without Skyler not see the 11 does it not go I believe it does go boy I don't know if he doesn't see it I think he can swerve in [Music] there okay that was pretty good from where he was J hall has a cross corner to win the match if he likes to take it on side from Toronto he knows it he's a 2012 City Banks Champion 2016 Super Expo Champion isto openion by predor only reason I think that there's benefit to this shot if he'd like to shoot it is the 45 look to be laying pretty good but he's going to clear them side of maturity nothing wrong with that I can never fault toy for a play like this if you don't feel good about it don't do it okay Woodward might try and take a Twist at the [Applause] [Music] 13 [Music] really nice Q ball there good control almost made it obviously I think he's better off that he didn't Hall can kick one rail below this but it is touchy and nicely done he's hit the ball going in if you hit the ball first prior to the rail there you really can't can't scratch that was well [Music] done just been a funny match the balls have laid funny every single game a lot of unconventional situations looking to kick to the seven it's okay I don't know that it was worth it you've got to go to the five here I believe but he'll probably prove me wrong maybe coming off the 14 coming off the nine yeah I don't feel like that does much you can softly kick to the 13 there yeah that's a pretty easy way out of it so I don't think Woodward's thinking real clear they're obviously both having a rough match it happens to the best of them so that should give everybody that struggles hope including [Music] myself clearly not picking on them but I know that both of them would say that they they didn't play good up to this point and now they're going up table that was a very good Q ball wward going to be forced to go to the seven here and Elevate but as soon as I say that he's going to look and possibly if he can see the five fully I thought the 11 might have him impeded I guess he could go to the five like I said earlier he's just going to do it [Music] now not bad Justin can just chip off the 11 watch out for leaving a two now I like how he went forward stunned forward just like that he's got Hall in a [Music] predicament it's about as good as you can can do killed two birds with one stone as well he opened up the three five that were tied up can you see the four oh he can like a lovely rub not bad not bad at all he's got Justin cut off does he kick to the bottom of the nine if he does that he might leave the seven cross Corner good speed so here even if you can hit the seven flush I believe you've got to play it into the 11 oh he's caught the two first he actually caught the two first I think he missed he's smirking and those lined up perfect to [Music] remove Skyler looking over at Justin and I'm not laughing at him I am laughing with him going to the five again balls starting to get [Music] ugly and a little bit more ugly well never mind the nine is wired can you get to it show us a trick shot Skyler very hard pressed to do that wow he was going to follow that ball a it double kiss off the point due to the positioning of the nine Justin has to be careful here very tricky position got to come off the 13 and he's done a pretty big mess on the Left End of the table now Skyler Adam it with the two- Hall will be banking at this seven I believe the four does go but he can use outside and go up towards the three or up towards the two if he'd like high left ball he chose to use inside tells me the four doesn't even go playing for six he's got to knock this one ball down much cleaner stroke he stayed solid over the ball went through it cleanly very little to no body movement another nice strike playing for [Music] four Force follow up and down get behind the blue two oh no very quick in that final back swing if you noticed he was very very quick little bit snatchy or flinchy so that's going to cost him he needed to get that down these balls although jumbled up still favor Woodward and he's knocked this 10 down I still feel like this four is close yeah yeah it definitely goes right hard to tell but I feel like it goes oh yeah all day long and look at this the 129 combination does he have the heart to go forward with inside English and try and open everything up the nine is a big
