especially ear on to try to stretch this high backline from Gotham for this goth to the backline right in front of an Katrine burger burger who we just talked about and then as you move up the field Yas me Ryan and Delaney Sheen can those two find the right pockets of when to play centrally when to go out wide and then utilize Crystal dun playing at that right wing back Wing Position will she not only help them getting crosses in but can she come inside and connect under a stair centrally well with Gotham FC Gotham in the black home kits purple and white for racing Louisville we are underway at Red Bull Arena Flint already through the air making a difference shean push to nicewonger Williams if she can get there pokes it through and it runs out of space as lond will get a goal kick here that Lynn Williams was working her way back from a thigh injury so this is only start number two on the season there's a lot of expectation every single year from Lynn Williams because she has been such a prominent goal scorer in this league since basically her feet touched the field in nwsl so whenever she's on the field I think there's expectations for her to score but there are different ways she can affect the game pull players to to her make sure she's utilizing some of that attention to then pick and choose the right next option I think for Gotham in general that has been their wo when they've gotten into the attacking third they have not been good in their decision making once they've gotten in and around the goal nice wer was looking to connect there with est Sheen head on a swivel Ryan Williams One V one puts in across it's deflected EST stair trying to get open there's a shot it's blocked that was from Dunn still in the 18 for Gotham Sheen dishes it out big shot kuu blocks that was binia with the strike but this is already looking better for Gotham much better from them good aggressiveness early on to get the players they want on the ball in the attacking third Chen drives It Forward Williams on the left side centers shoots blocked by Flint Shen another opportunity Dello collapses in Ryan was open and oh dicey here for racing Louisville trying to weather the storm in these opening minutes from [Applause] Gotham well again just two goals scored for Gotham this year both from EST most recently coming off at two n lost to Washington it was the first time they allowed multiple goals as well and general just three shots on Target in that game against Washington just not the best performance headed away kuu gets there now looks to transition for racing Louisville they do a lot of damage this way nice stop B there from she and she actually takes it away looking for estere and lung will let this team this racing side breathe for a second and that's going to be hard because Gotham's High Press right now has been suffocating racing in their defensive third they went it back yet again so can racing just be a little bit quicker in these decision making as they build out of the back and also know that they have outlets and releases in bar and kuu to just go and turn this Gotham Squad behind around with going behind them oh they do love a good weak side Ball racing Louisville yes that's one of the emphasis that Beanz told us the first time we talked to her is I talk a lot about the weak side of play I think that's defensively and in attack that's how they scored their first two goals on the season Sam Hy Center back today gets a start as Sia Davidson is in ined and Maan outs with an illness so the two starting center backs for Gotham are not available it's Hy and Emily Sonet who's usually at the six for this Gotham Squad although she's a pretty versatile player and and we know this about her with her time the US Women's National team as well Dello Flint plays it long and nobody's home was looking for bar was better in those few moments there from Louisville just to realize that if the high press comes there is going to be an open option it ends up being like this little dink into the opposite side Central midfielder they're going to have to be do a really good job playing out of the high press from Gotham because you have to be brave in those moments you don't want to go long and just give away possession every single time so can Dello especially be a good option for them as Louisville try to build build out of the high press Malay head tohe head with nice her and she'll went out for racing mle has an assist this year but she's started every game since this team's Inception in the regular season and again we're not lying when we say Gotham has a lot of injuries and TI Davidson that happened in the last game so these are racking up Mitch pers out with a season ending knee injury Abby Smith they knew that going into this year hence the burger signing Cassie Smith was starting in the last games in that Cassie Miller excuse me yeah and and they ended up getting three players off the injury Port this week Mandy Freeman chenade Farley Farley and Rose lvll are now available so just a week ago those three were also on this injury report it's been difficult for Juan Carlos amoros and this Gotham Squad to create a lot of cohesion when players are in and out of availability so it's it's not an excuse he what did he keep exp to us it's just football Jordan right it's just football that that's what happens we have to know each other as people and as players and be able to adapt but no coach wants to look and see those are all the players that they have unavailable L done shoots and it's high yeah I think that's going to be offside even if it went in the back of the net but how much better is that early on from Gotham because it's Williams being the player to win the initial ball Crystal done just hunting around the back line to try to get a piece on it there's different energy about the squad in this game than we especially saw in the last couple of games from them Dello misses it nice wer Pops to Malay Howell loses dun Ryan top of the 18 Williams collapses in Shen and we had a foul it's going to go against Williams as Malay was taken out Relentless is this press Louisville needs to solve this quickly or they're going to be down yeah I I think the the option might just be as we get a look at this replay it's just the after effects there from Williams on Malay is if the high press is coming if you're going to go long you have to get it up and over the back line and this isn't a good look as Katy lond is already down here early in this game and lond has been really the [Music] sole possessor of that goalkeeper position since racing Louisville has come into existence when you're talking about solving a press one one of the things that Louisville is doing if they do play long Mora is they're still playing in front of the back line of Gotham so if you're going to play Long play long get Gotham running at their goalkeeper and then go press them use that as a a time to almost counter press or uh dump it and run essentially to try to get the spa into the space higher up on the field and not let this happen over and over again where Gotham's just winning the ball high up but for caralina Moscato and banz what a good time right now to be able to chat with their team a little bit they've been under a lot of pressure through the first nine minutes well Bloomer Jordan Bloomer was getting ready just in case as KY lung continues to be stretched out see if she can continue looks like she can L has 15 saves already on the season it's one of three Keepers with two clean sheets this year and really they've asked a lot of her in the past I mean in 2022 had 112 saves that is a single season record made a bunch last year so I think having EG pick it it's it's helping Lune yeah it's not always the the stat you want as a goalkeeper the most saves I mean it shows her quality and her shot stopping ability but this Louisville Squad needed to address their defensive woses and they've done that with the addition of those two players Williams head toad with Malay and just a heavy touch also for Louisville they're playing Aaron wri in that Center back role which is a bit of a different look for her as she's a player that traditionally has played out wide yeah and I I think it makes sense because has such a good understanding of the game in Chicago she played as an outside Center back she played as a wing back so she's played a lot across the back line but playing in a center back in this system under janz she can dribble into the Midfield with either foot she can distribute with either foot it allows them to be a little bit more of a ball playing Team through the lines with a center back as good as she is though that was out of necessity as well as Ellie Pam who had started at the center back roll for racing Louisville went down with a nasty season ending injury racing possessing now there's right and that one's just chipped behind Malay from Howell yeah and how has to be better in those positions and she apologizes because she knows I think she can take two touches there and complete the pass or withstand a little bit of the pressure from Gotham cuz has a six that's the outlet you have to be willing to receive the ball under pressure and help either turn there connect the line switch the point of attack when you don't do it this is what happens the team can progress and get into their attacking third quickly neie Martin on the throw into the 18 Rising for it is Williams and it's off the back of her head and out well for racing before that Utah game in which they won 5 to one had four straight draws so yes they're unbeaten but that was technically the first Victory on the season for racing been a little bit inconsistent offensively they have two scoreless draws this year against Houston and San Diego and of course then you followed up with a Explosive Performance so I think Jan wants to see more consisten see it's the hardest thing to do in this game is be consistent whether that's from a player standpoint or a team standpoint it is so challenging in nwsl to go out with the same product every single week but I think one of the things that they do benefit from that 5-1 Victory is they get Savannah Dello two goals she hadn't scored in the Run of play in 10 months prior to that so you get that player on the the score sheet kuu gets another goal you get Turner and Sears on the the score sheet too so now you have a lot of players going forward who feel confident about what they can do in the attacking third yeah Dello 11 goals in her time with racing Louisville she's now the regular season scoring leader for the club this club new relatively in the nwsl started in 2021 [Music] Sonic Hyatt bar looking to Make Some Noise there for racing and gorgeous with the trip nice wer evades yeah she didn't evade that trip though she got taken out by bores and it was a good job by bar to keep it to one side but then nice longer just Shifty in her ability to get out of this pressure this is the attacker in her just converted to outside back last year and she's so good with the ball at her feet dribbling kuu with a takeaway and nobody home on that pass ahead yeah nicewonger progress has been really exciting for Gotham as that's a little close for burger burger doesn't know how quick all these players are because she hasn't been playing in the league just 14 minutes into her debut yeah we talked so much about Internationals adjusting to the pace of play and often times you don't think about Keepers having to adjust to that but yeah closing time is uh pretty quick here in [Music] [Music] the Burger looks around there's bar coming in off the head of Hyatt to nicewonger up the flank well that gives you a good reason why they bring in burger that distribution is on point Williams nice wer open done reaching for it through the air Ryan Lance to her looks around for options and now she'll reset with Gotham brunia s it up back to the Brazilian outside back for Gotham this will be interesting for Gotham because over the last couple of games even though binia gets the ball here she's been playing so inverted inverted centrally overloading those Central channels Crystal Dunn likes to play centrally so is that going to be one of their main issues is they're not utilizing the space which I think sometimes they play in so many tight connections that it's hard for them to be a little bit more expansive and Stretch A team out defensively so the dis discipline especially on that right side is going to have to be there now the flag goes up for Williams janz looking on walked into a tough position here with racing Louisville had having miss out on the postseason for three straight years and so they really did need to wake up a little bit turn things around just try new things drafts really well as we saw from R railen Turner excuse me and Emma seir both getting their first goals in the last Utah game and to add some new pieces like bar Taylor flint and it looks like Flint maybe got the worst of it on that flick on head there but I actually think that when you're talking about there it is just that's one of the most dangerous times of when a player is trying to flick backwards and you're trying to head forwards can create a head-to-head Collision but for banz she comes into a team that misses the playoffs again Mora but I actually think it's a benefit for her she knew this team so well and she knew where they were doing well and succeeding but also where they could be be better and how she could speak to players a little bit more tuned into to that specific player's needs I think it's perfectly shown in uchenna canu and what canu has been able to do this year because of Jan giving her the ability to play in her more comfortable position on the left wing now we're seeing her Thrive she didn't score last year and now she is in a place where she has four goals in five games not that's not something that's happened ever in Louisville history it's been impressive to watch the emergence of kanu she's been really good through the air and other players with four goals I mean she's in Good Company chinga beia for Kansas City it's crazy they have two players and then clear emley for Angel City Sophia Smith has five goals now but all those teams have played all those players have played this weekend so we'll see if kuu can match Sophia Smith with a goal today that's a Golden Boot race for you early in the season yeah and interesting that two of those players have never played an nwsl before and they hit the ground running as has that Kansas City team they are flying early parts of this season Mora it's been unreal to watch here's bar Dello Ari bores drives it up the middle shoots and she's off the mark on that one well that's good it's just the quick pressure there essentially to win the second ball and this is one of the things that Beanz likes about borous as she can come inside as an inverted Winger and clog up the Midfield I like she drives at the back line she doesn't get a shot off that challenges burger at all but that's the type of positioning you you expect out of Ari bores playing centrally but she's just doing that with a little bit more freedom as a Winger well it opens things up for Lauren Malay bombing up that flank as well yeah and Malay has been probably one of the most consistently underrated players in this league because as an outside back she you know what to expect every single game from her and already through 19 minutes she's handled Lynn Williams in her Pace very [Music] well she likes getting forward too and with Bor just in front of her giving her a little bit more space I think ble is going to continue to have have another really good year Williams off the header from aair surges forward Ryan off the dish looks ahead Williams making a run and it was read nicely by Wright Martin keeps it for Gotham of course A lot has changed for Gotham since banz was there but she was an assistant for two seasons prior to joining racing Louisville as an assistant in [Applause] [Music] 2023 bar intercepts kuu Carson pick it and a shove there from Sonet against aelo those two went to the World Cup together last year in 2023 nice ball from Flint Malay up the middle this time darts forward kuu makes a move pass Beria takes a shot and it's just off kuu Shifty there yeah it all starts though with Taylor Flint making herself available in the six position to open space and this is a great ball because Malay can decide if she wants to Let It Go across her body she opts to come inside and to challenge the back line with a good dribble I think kuu maybe could have gotten a little bit closer here but it's a great step over she opts to go with her left and she's proven already this season that she can score Left Foot Right Foot head it doesn't matter she wants to be gold dangerous every time she gets the ball it's a lot better of an attack there from racon loville poked Away by bores Dello well you and bz were talking about Taylor flint and how yes she's good through the air and everybody talks about that but she is so good with her feet as well she is so Swift she she's the tallest field player in the leag Taylor Flint but when she has the ball at her feet it looks like it is so easy and she's mobile and can manipulate the ball I'd like the inclusion of her into this squad es especially sitting next to howl because she has a little bit of grit to her so she can win the ball back if need be but she can also stretch the lines and utilize her range of passing to be the distributor from a little bit deeper of a position nice wer Hyatt son it's there to clean up well you can see Burger looking comfortable she's being vocal right now bores bar has a goal and assist on the year actually scored the first goal for racing Louisville in 2024 Alexa bar it was against Orlando ended up being a two- two draw which is a pretty good result when you consider Orlando is playing very well right now now SE hind has gotten the most out of that Squad pick it gives it back to D this could be dangerous nice touch from aair Sheen up the middle off her left foot and it bounces into right now did that hit her hand there about four Gotham players who thought they did it did so that play will automatically be looked at by V with the referee de seems it notable this isn't the attacking phase of play so I would imagine the next time the ball stops or changes positions if he does need to look at it that's the time he would go but Louisville has flipped the script here and now they've stretched the lines for Gotham and they've been able to then create and build through the middle Malay trying to switch directions gets fouled by Williams yeah so no h restarts and we're we're good to go here but but look at how much more space there is the high press isn't as dangerous from Gotham and now Louisville is finding spaces in between the lines and a lot of that has to do with how winning the ball back Flint being an option but when they do have to defend these are the moments where they need to be careful as that ball gets deflected I think cuz it got deflect reflected off of Dello I I I think that would have been a really brutal handball call ersing I mean this feels totally different than it did 15 minutes ago right Mora yeah once yanis was able to talk to her side when lond went down things shifted and racing is really settled into this match Williams drives It Forward into the 18 off her right foot takes a shot and that's another block Malay was there gorgeous goes flying that is a very painful looking Landing as hayatt got underneath Ari bores the Brazilian she say no I don't need attention I don't want to come off the field but foror just flew through the air here she's trying to play the ball through and her right leg just gets caught on the follow through for from Sam hayatt she just got back onto the field she's one of those players who last year I think was one of the best midfielders to watch play so this doesn't seem like it's good news for racing Louisville cuz Jaylen Howell is coming off the pitch in the first half Marissa to R is going to come in yeah yeah the way she's acting and looking disappointment but I do think the last few plays you could see how good how is in moments just getting a little she doesn't always have to win the ball outright but just getting a little tow in disrupting the way that Gotham starts to build and de Grande is now going to have to come in and do that a little bit more of a attacking minded player in there so we'll see how that relas ship it felt like Gotham was going to strike and that's something that would have gone a long way I think for this club was struggling to find the back of the net this year aair turns into space [Applause] Ryan brunin through the middle Sheen Flint clears it's a good look by Shen to try to get the little flick there for the oncoming brunia but it's it's Ryan who does a good job of opening up wide to give brunin the channel to dribble into and that's part of the the chaos right of it it's organized where if you leave a spot somebody else can fill it there's a real rotation in the way that Gotham plays when they get going they're all clicking on the same page it's hard to defend well Sheen whistled for that foul against kuu Delan Shen really had I would say a breakout year last year for Gotham in her second Pro season made 26 appearances one goal three assists but she was really crucial through the Midfield yeah so how do you think she felt when in the off season you bring in and Crystal Dunn and a player who has played a lot in that position Emily Sonet that crowds up the Midfield even more nice touch from dun splits the defense Gotham still with it nice wer off of Flint EG de Grande but the impressive thing about shean is she's just kept working and still found her way into this lineup been a vital part the the combination between her and estera has been growing game by game bar offside that's really the first time we've seen Louisville try to stretch in behind to Alexa bar this is the one of the things you have to time perfectly because Gotham is known around the league for their Highline they want to step you offside close to the halfway line if you go don't get it right it's easy for them to just pick up the ball and restart Ryan on it brunia up the flank fouled kanu commits lville actually fouls the most of any team in the nwsl or half an hour in no score yet between Gotham and racing Louisville the visitors is racing trying to remain unbeaten brunin that's just going to be a throw here for kuu [Applause] miscommunication and a heavy touch as well Ari [Applause] bores Martin into the box aair not squared gives it away hayatt head to head with bar here's Alexa bar was looking for Dello and it's whipped back to Malay skips right over bar who wants a foul does not get one yeah and and I can see why because the last few times Sam hayatt has stepped into the Midfield it's been pretty aggressive doesn't get the foul there but it's one of the things that hayatt coming into this team as a new addition she's going to have a a lot of work to do with bar and her Mobility but it is important as louville faces some of this high pressure they have bar up front can she hold the ball up a little bit better for them in those moments where they try to go Direct pick it haven't heard much from her on that left side for racing she's kind of been stuck trying to defend done and kanu has as well kanu has had to do a lot of work defensively because of how aggressive Gotham has been especially in their counter press brunia getting up and in the attack nice wer hanging on to mow it's a good look there from De Grande to try to rotate into the outside back position it pushes Carson pick it on and then it tempts Crystal Dunn to come and pressure her as that Winger that's there's always going to be an open player there in the channel as you create an overload just the the pass is a little off from her but I think those types of rotations against this mid block for Gotham are going to be important for Louisville if they're going to keep some of The Possession try to string together some passes Flint [Applause] L well coming up at halftime we'll take a look around the league of highlights and much more stay [Music] tuned Malay being pressured sorous and that touch is going to draw a foul from Ari bores yeah such a cheeky little touch there over the foot of the first Defender and AR Bo just playing a little bit more centrally now these last her Heights is able to grab yeah but she didn't really jump and I wonder if that's going to be an issue as the game goes on she didn't have to jump but it felt like she almost second guessed herself here for Gotham couple of moves there for kanu and Son it touches it away it will be a corner kick for RAC Louisville and this is one of the things that's going to be the next evolution of Louisville as they start to go and defensive drop to not give them space in behind because of players like Alexa bar can they find that late Runner and and I think the late run was on there from Savannah Dello she had a ton of space at the top of the box if kuu can chop it back to her now racing has good targets especially with Taylor Flint there hasn't scored yet but she has been so close a number of times for Louisville pick in on the delivery headed towards the back post bores Rises for it and burger is able to snag in the air Ari bores is down right now for racing Louisville holding the back of her head it's a good service in from picket with her left foot it's a little looping so it's hard to get much on it and you can just see the I think it's the after effects here of how she falls down just jolts you a little bit when you fall that [Applause] hard now bores is all right and we'll continue EST joined this team last year after the World Cup in August so she won the World Cup and then she won the nwsl championship scor the game winner against o rain in that final Williams off her left foot looking for dun Ryan takes a shot it hops and it makes its way to L that's a great combination there though starting on the left side it's really nice longer keeps everything going finds this little scoop pass to Sheen then it's a great combination I think that's maybe where the play gets let down a little bit is just the service from Williams can it be cleaner either all the way on the ground are in the air so dun doesn't have to deal with a bobbling ball the gring h Martin being shoved a little bit plays through the contact muscled Away by Flint brunia kuu who's going to win out and it looks like it's kuu that's been a good battle over there between those two picked off the ball from each other a couple of times I do think right now it leans towards Beria and just the way that she's been able to attack and pin kanu into a defensive posture in position more often than not damelo sheen on her back Flint quick touches gorgeous tripped again jeez how many times has she been down a lot and she's coming off an ankle injury that she sustained with Brazil in the Gold Cup pre-season and here she's trying to do a onew her pass is off so she goes quickly to try to win the ball off with the foot of Ryan and she ends up getting stomped on there but it's so nice to have or Bor just back if you're this racing Squad because she is she's one of the most intelligent midfielders I think in this leag the sky is limit and she's just basically tapping in to a little bit of that potential ball ahead to a St from nicewonger if she can get there it's right instead lunge de Grande back to her keeper [Music] boy if Gotham could connect on some of those transition chances they would be lethal in this league because they have the talent to do so and unfortunately it's just not a stair is not the nine that you're going to break back lines with she wants to connect she wants to get to feat and create those little combination plays she can have speed over a few yards but she's not going to go pace for Pace with Aaron Wright who's one of the fastest defenders in this league so if that's what you if Gotham wants to do that I think you switch Lynn Williams into a more Central position and utilize her on those transition moments gruna done Twirls to Ryan off a picket kuu gorgeous positive touch ends up with son defensively Gotham has only allowed four goals this season EST they have roughly five minutes to go in this first half midweek action coming your way this power and now with Williams back and a stair centrally they have the ability to wreak havoc on a back line and yet they get into the attacking third and their shots are not the right choices often times they have seven shots in this game zero of them are on Target and that has really been the story of their early 2024 campaign so how can they choose the better option in the attacking third is the big thing that they've been working on a lot that has to do with relationships and knowing where players want the ball brunin how much does a healthy roosevel change that I think it's always going to change that but the the biggest part of that is how often is Ros LEL healthy so you can't rely on Rose LEL because she's barely in in the 18 or the 20 a lot of the times Williams takes a shot and it bounces to the keeper and lond who covers but Roosevelt any when she's on the pitch because she's so good and here this is where Lynn Williams is finding a little bit of success in this game she just finds the ball here from shean and then cuts it inside to her right foot opts to go from distance it doesn't truly challenge lond but those are the moments where she's been successful against Malay is cutting inside so maybe now this is the the next Evolution right that's happened a couple of times can now EST provide an option centrally for Williams and now you do a onew when Williams is a little bit Clos closer to the the goal with her next shot nice wer Williams head to head with Malay leaves it behind to runia shien wide with it off her left foot into the box Malay will just shade it to her keeper and Malay knows Lyn Williams very well they played together North Carolina for a number of years so those two probably had a lot of these battles in training but mle has done a really good job of not allowing Lynn Williams to take the endline and to get to a place where then she can cross the Targets in the box with Gotham flooding numbers centrally I think right now it's been very impressive what Lauren Malay has been able to do on that right outside back position Flint a foul against Taylor Flint seemed like that was going to be a good attack from racing Louisville five minutes of stoppage time in this first half so quite a bit of time that's good from right because she she has been recognizing a stairs coming into the Midfield right to pick up up the ball so she goes with a stair gets into a confrontation a One V one battle for the ball ends up drawing a foul mitigates the whole attack that Gotham could have had with esta just playing in between the seams of this Louisville Squad Dello being pestered by nicewonger nicewonger said she really credits the likes of Ali creger last year to helping her in this new position and just as a rookie of course a crazy season for nicewonger Rookie of the Year wins a championship and then in December of 2023 debuts with the US wom's national team Dunn is down Flint is down as well those two just collided yeah and the ball just Slips Away from Flint here she tries to get to it first gets a little toe pooke and done and her just get tangled up there and Flint is still on the ground you could see the crunch of that start today of course signed from Portland as a free agent this was the uh big free agent destination right for players across the league after winning the championship for Gotham and it really is just the US W naal team I would say a big chunk of that team is on this Gotham roster Davidson on it LVL Dunn all come over in the offseason I think Dunn is still settling into what her role is going to be within this squad Dello off the free kick kanu is reaching for it transition chance now for Gotham can they counter Chen plays it long aair that's to Grande instead the early sub that racing Louisville was forced to make after Jaylen Howell went out with an apparent injury she's been good since she's come in connect the ball nicely been an option in building out making sure that she's denying those spaces into the forward players for this Gotham Squad so I think to come in right that quickly into a game is always difficult well she comes as a veteran in this league to join racing Louisville formerly with Houston and formerly Marissa Viano kner calling for it from Ryan aare tapped Away by De Grande Williams she's now on that right side conu just boxing her out Williams still gets around conu wants a foul she's going to get it much to the chrin of the crowd here at Red Bull Arena yeah Lim Williams can't believe it it's a good it's good work by kuu to get back but this whole entire attack for Gotham starts with good distribution from Burger out of the back she finds Yasmine Ryan between the lines and then they can get after Louisville with numbers and I think this is one of the things you see from Gotham a lot is the rotation of their attacking players maybe Williams will have a little bit more success on the right side dun comes over here to the left I still would like to see Dunn play a little bit more of a central role within this squad and push Ryan to a Winger spot and and let Don Dunn operate in a 10 where she can be a little bit more Shifty pop up in between the teams gorgeous Malay has some time Flint good to see that she's all right after that tackle de Grande just kind of splits conu and bores Sonic chips it over the top brunia nearing the end of this first half there's those two again I think kanu has to be careful though because that's a few of the same types of fouls on brunin over there two bright Internationals in this league as we see the nwsl get more and more Global it's really been the story MH yeah we're going to talk about that at halim cough cough Orlando that's going to take us to the break we played 45 minutes no score between I'll mention that Gotham has only conceded four goals this year but three of those four have come in the second half Dello Flint heads It Forward well that look like a play you right up on a chalkboard and they executed it nearly to Perfection there just a little too much on the flick from Flint but for Louisville one of the things that they dealt with in the first 10 minutes of the first half was the high press from Gotham can they flip the script and be do that a little bit from the get-go here in the second half Flint nice wer Gores Carson pick it off the swing kuu brunia bothers gets pasted Ryan strong defense there as canu wanted to Sprint up the middle oh both of these teams have made one sub now racing had to make it due to an injury oh my gosh that pass slicing through the middle see uh any clues as why ju Carlos alos wanted burger burger on his team and it's only going to develop more this is just game number one grinia done gives it away de Grande Lun single takes it away help from ersen done Ryan flints with a much needed clear for racing Louisville and Beanz has last a lot more out of Katy line to this year especially with what she can do with her feet but unfortunately these are the things that are going to happen if you take a heavy touch here stangle closing does a good job of choosing the right angle and then there's players in the attacking third was just thinking about bar and how it might be a good game for railan Turner to come in because she is so good at holding the ball up punched away Williams in the Box touches it to herself puts on AC cross lunge rebound done saved on the line Carson pick it coming up clutch for racing Louisville it's good defensive work here from Gotham High up the field utilizing their forwards to win the ball back they've been so good at this over the last year and a half and Lynn Williams find her finds herself in a good space and the reason why this turns into an opportunity is because she challenges lond picket saves it off the line great defensive recovery from Carson picket better decision- making as well from Gotham in the attacking third by far their best chance nice wer near post headed Away by the defense Ryan Dello it's on her back and this one's going to soar up D heads it into space Flint boots it towards the middle knocked back down here for aam looking to build off that momentum kuu disrupting dun see Juan Carlos amoros head coach for Gotham and here's that go line save yet again picket doing a good job of getting herself in a space where she's facing the goals she can make that kick save she has constantly been such a good outside back in this league Dello blazing forward neie Martin's going to get a yellow card on that [Applause] foul and this is where Dello really shines is in transition moments where she has space in front of her and neie Martin knows that everybody in the league knows that so she ends up fouling her she's denying a play going forward that had some promise as she gets a yellow card for that foul I think it's a smart foul from neie Martin because the last thing you want is Savannah Dello running at your back line who's a little bit disorganized couple of Runners flanking now burger and this Gotham Squad have to face not just this first attempt but I think it's the next round from pick it off for left foot Bend towards a back po post not sure who touched that but it's out of the box stangle racing forward up the flank Williams makes a run to Williams and it's touched away right that was a key swipe from Aaron wri Williams wants a foul it's a key swipe and it had to be perfect because Williams is running at the back line and if you don't get this right then Williams is right behind the defense she thinks it's a foul I think she has something to say there it looked like Wright might have gotten a clip of her right ankle it's a lot of Rights but it was wrong and a lot of smiths in this game on these rusters bar Flint pick it her first assist with the club last week against Utah been shocked a surprise yeah yeah when she wrapped him up in North Carolina but I would say it was not the best year for this lville squad last season the style of play was didn't get the best out of some of the players that were within the squad I think Carson picket being one of them and under ban and some of the principles that she wants to to play with she's gone in depth and talked to us about the things that she wants to see from her team also how she communicates differently to different players I I think we're going to see Carson picket with a lot more assists this year Dello takes off kanu calling for it nice ball ahead uchen aanu left footed strike and it's wide well this was a chance here for Louisville because you get Dello running at the backline and Conor just tiptoeing trying to get in at the right time and she sens it right away look at ganu she gets on her horse she says I'm going to try to break through this scene between the center back and the outside back but her foot on the shot gets too far on the outside of the ball it drags it across the back line damelo is going to get in trouble here from some defensive work on burger burger is down and obviously players take exception when you mess with Keepers I think yeah and we saw this in the first half burger just not aware of the speed of some of the players in the attack and here Dello does a good job of closing it actually looks like Burger's follow through kicks Dello so to get a yellow card on that I think it's pretty [Applause] harsh well there's two goalkeepers on the bench for Gotham Cassie Miller and Michelle beos so both getting warm just in case and beos was the captain for this Louisville Squad back in 2021 this will be full circle moment for her to play against [Music] them amoros talking to his team it looks like Burger's up which is good to see obviously debuting in the nwsl in this game would hate to see her leave with an injury yeah it's such a sof spot on your foot there though right where your bone is if you're falling through it and catch a shin or a knee no thank you there a list of things I don't miss Ora I never had to deal with it was not good enough well Burger makes her way to this Gotham side coming from Chelsea which is a dominant WSL team coached by Emma Hayes who is about to become the US woman's national team [Music] coach it's on it brunia done freezes pass de Grande and that one's just a little bit ahead of Ryan in that particular situation Ryan had done switch spots and Dunn's operating more centrally and this is why I'm calling for Crystal Dunn to play in the middle because she can turn on a dime and leave defenders in the dust and that's the aggressiveness and the little bit of extra attitude Gotham needs when it comes to the attacking [Music] [Applause] third well done a scoring machine as we said 38 goals in her nwsl career I think this has been interesting for Gotham because yes they've been dealing with injuries but also you get all these really good players but that doesn't necessarily mean that everything's going to fit right away so they're still trying to figure out positionally where everyone's going to go yeah and I think a big part too is they played as Underdog last year they were the worst team in the league two years ago and so they had this Underdog mentality and I heard Lisa Carlin on attacking third talk about they they can't have that same mentality this year they are the champions everybody has a Target to beat Gotham every single the game they go into so they need to change their mentality and play with a little bit different of an a stature going forward where they play like they are the Champs and other teams have to come in and beat them and right now we don't see that out of this squad it I think ly Williams said willy-nilly but there's some hopefulness when they get into the attacking third and you don't expect that out of out of reigning Champions what did Beanz say in that video we played nobody comes into our house good pass took a pass yeah and gets points oh that's racing Louisville's yes mentality after that victory over Utah and now at the moment staring at another draw which in some aspects is good for racing Louisville because you're walking away with a point but you can't just draw all the time they need more victories and just have the one yeah but this racing Louisville Squad also needed confidence they they come off a another tough year finished in ninth for the third time in a row but they had a lot of really good pieces and and I feel like they gained confidence through some of those draws where they were still learning and I think the are still learning in the win that they had over the weekend that's one of the most important things to win no matter the circumstance and I can't believe kuu doesn't have a yellow gets a warning I need to this ref when I was playing Mora I'd take a warning on that it's got to be the fifth time she's fou her Shen [Applause] Sangle see even in that moment I think Shen can play it in and then break the back line be a little bit more aggressive in the way that you're running off the ball Williams One V one as Flint comes to help out it's going to be back with racing Louisville like he Lynn Williams said that we need to be more aggressive we haven't seen that for Gotham besides that one sequence and of course it just it led to a desperate goal line save from Carson picket yeah especially if you good have a good Target Center forward who occupies the center back so if you can play it into the target do a little up back and through but the through has to come from a Midfield run and there's no Runners from the Midfield Yasmin Ryan isn't breaking the back line Delane shean isn't breaking the back line so can they have a little bit more aggressive in the way that they run to create problems for this Louisville Squad well we talked about some potential Super Subs for racing Louisville and we're going to see two of them railan Turner and Emma Sears Ari bores exits the game but these two rookies scored last week against Utah for both of those players the first goal of their nwsl careers and I think Turner is such a good addition because she can hold up the ball I was mentioning that earlier she has a good presence she knows when to dribble out of situations when to lay the ball off but then you bring in Emma Sears who this kid is fast and she's sometimes seems faster with the ball at her feet than without it so if Louisville can utilize the presence of Turner with a nice Hold Up play and finding a little bit of space for Sears to get into they might be finding a really good combination in this last 30 minutes that worked well for them in the previous game Turner Sears replace bar and bores for racing Louisville Dello undercut foul Dello is still down on the pitch it's holding her head cuz she did slam it as she fell Oh Martin has to be cautious is playing on a yellow for Gotham there good tidy footwork here from Dello and she slips and Falls I don't know if it it's a foul I just hope Dello is okay cuz she fell really hard on her head there and if there was a foul it was from behind it wasn't on Martin is probably the defending player Yas Meine Ryan there gives her a little extra push I think that's what causes the [Applause] slip Dello up and still getting looked at we'll see this again yeah here's the the footwork and I think it's that from Ryan it just sets her off a little bit her footwork can't be clean as she tries to plant her cleats they slip out underneath her because of that push on her [Applause] backside Dello does not look good right now yeah and there's some options for racing Louisville they've already made a handful of changes against Sears and Turner just entered the game right and that was their um Second Use of substitution because they made that de Grande substitution earlier so they only have one more window so if they would want to make any other sub they would have to make them all in that next window unless it is a deemed a concussion then you would get an additional concussion substitution melo's up and trying to run Dello obviously coming off a brace against Utah second best 11 in 2023 in the nwsl had a banner year after making the World Cup roster with the US Women's National Team there's also really key in set pieces for racing Louisville and if we get to a point where you know late in a game they get one they would want her on the pitch for a multitude of reasons but set pieces being one of those and here's one now with alelo it's Carson picket off for left foot curs it up Flint heads It Forward Sears through the air and for Gotham players that were getting a lot of time and I always think when I see Martin about the championship game in which she had to play keeper for the second time last season I was doing first time yeah yeah I was with you oh both at Snapdragon Stadium which was wild Oh neie Martin going up against her former Club 2 previously played with racing Louisville that one slips pass stangle Flint tripped seen a lot of fouls in the second half yeah it's made it a choppy Pace now Flyn [Applause] down the training staff really working hard for racing Louisville yeah and she was down with this same leg getting chopped at o that does not look good a straight leg tackle there it's hard to watch in the first half remember was that same leg that she got the challenge with Crystal done sorry not even in the first half I think it was in this half I don't know there's been a lot of fouls right in this area moving the ball through the Midfield look at the number of fouls in this game my goodness that's why it's been choppy Mora this is interesting a Stern conversation or actually it seems like Gotham has a lot of questions yeah somebody needs to like clip this and figure out what Emily Sonic like give Emily Sonic different things that she's saying because I think we need the other view of sonnet's face cuz she's such an animated player huh this is I've [Applause] never they are arguing their case meaning of the minds perhaps there's a law degree in these players future see if they're changing any Minds here as ad of sta of our Center referee is certainly getting an earful from when they get into the attacking third is it is it's just not focused enough from them the the details have to be even higher in that area of the field they have lacked that hi Turner given away now into the space ends up [Applause] fouling Dello there and it's good to see that Dello is okay it has been so aggressive from this Gotham Squad in the middle of the field foul after foul I don't like that from Dello she keeps looking like like she's still feeling some of the effects of that hit she had earlier here's aelo Sears turns into space [Applause] Burger well if you're racing we just really haven't seen much from them attacking wise in this second half how does that change well I think that there are going to be opportunities for them with these two new players in to try I have to get back to that this looks good Mora nice swing Malay Turner edge of the 18 off her left foot head her up Burger out of the air brunino went flying as her ins collided with those shooting players just trying to utilize some of the speed that they had and there we saw Turner do that by cutting inside quick touches to find a little bit of a gap on the corner of the box I don't think Gotham's going to give him any space in behind unless Gotham finds themselves a little bit higher up on the field but can they be better in those quick moments where it's little combinations Dello to Turner Turner and seirus together because we've seen them already create this season Miss Louisville squad has the confidence that they might just need one opportunity to find a game [Applause] winner Sears no good on that service but Malay on the pickup Ohio State grad serves it up kuu just mistimed a little yeah that that felt like it was ready to be set home home and kuu overran it couldn't get to the end of it that's what I'm talking about that there's so much confidence in these players coming off the bench being able to make a difference I think racing has to feel pretty good that they still have about 17 minutes to try to find a game winner Dello off done now that Midfield Circle nicewonger Ryan Shen ahead of Yasmine Ryan well two changes for Gotham FC Ellis Stevens will come in Lynn Williams will come out and this is is the start of a new beginning for Rose lavel her first appearance with Gotham [Applause] FC Crystal D also [Applause] exits here's level first touches already level missed the start of the season with a lower leg injury assigned in the off season and already commits a foul poor [Applause] Dello but lvll spent three seasons with Seattle one a shield in 2022 with the club Sears stretching for aanu somehow some way that doesn't go in and that has not been kanu's luck here at the beginning of this season she has been absolutely lethal in front of the net and here Turner does a good excuse me Sears does a good job of just sizing up Jenna ionger oneon-one all she needs is a little half space and I just can't believe that didn't go in and kuu can't either did the goal move when she shot it because my goodness it looked wide open in a really advantageous spot for kuu that's what I'm talking about there's heavy legs in the backline for Gotham and when you bring on that type of speed you just want them to be confident going and beating that first Defender and anything can [Applause] happen I think for Gotham to be able to bring Rose LEL into this game can you figure out a way to settle a little bit more and help them connect between the lines and dellaa just went down down again I think this is the right call because she did not look normal since she had that head injury a couple of really long blinks where you're thinking I think her head hurts more than than she thinks or maybe as she started to run again it just didn't feel right and that is not something that you want to see for any player but it's the right decision you have to take head injury so seriously I'm glad there's opportunities for substitutions in those cases we will see who is summed out from for Dello but likely there's a change coming it does look like Kayla fiser is getting warm right now just some final notes for fiser before she likely enters this game Dello exiting after one big knock and then two more to follow yeah get some love from her coach and caras scado the assistant will likely head back to the dressing room it's the right decision though and now fiser comes in who is a really crafty player as well good with the ball at her feet dribbling in between the seams so can she be an OP an option for these Front Runners Turner lets it Fly and it's saved by Burger my goodness I love the confidence here from raen Turner because she shot this from downtown and she just takes the ball off of kuu and says I'm going to go for it here that is knuckling and it asks a lot of burger but what a big save in her first game in nwsl by Burger well it's now a corner for racing Louisville can they execute on this set piece and take the see if she can catch the goalkeeper cheating Burger has her near post covered parries it out of danger is probably thinking okay this league is asking a lot of me already a couple of close calls playing out of the back with her feet that one from distance well that's a type of shot that we haven't seen Gotham take today no I think we've we've seen them take shots from distance but they haven't had the trajectory that that one did Turner with the pace she was moving forward she used all that momentum to carry through the ball and that's one of the things she just she knows where the goal is at all times LVL racing forward Ryan on the wing blocked by picket kuu with the touch gets it away from [Music] Shen Shen Ryan Fischer just ping pongs around now Ryan with possession there's a so many of the little things right that allow her plays like that they're not always go lines saves but she is often one of the best players on the pitch Ryan brunin is making a run as well goes wide with it and pick it all [Music] over but with the insertion of lavel now you have a midfielder who wants to break the back line and it is so much different from Gotham and it's going to challenge this Louisville defensive line to respect it so I think the dribbler if it is Ryan at that time she can be a little bit more choosy at what pass she makes nice move by lavel Shen heavy with it Malay darts forward fiser kuu oh Far Side Far Side yeah you can see Sears was calling for it now we got a Gotham player down looks like it's Martin this the lone nwsl game today at Red Bull Arena we don't have a score between racing Louisville and Gotham up the flank now nice wer Sangle skims off her head LVL Ryan shot from Ryan and it's off the mark wide yasmi and Ryan that was it that was a chance there it felt like time slowed down for Ryan here is nice longer I just saying she not getting into the attack well she gets into the attack and what does she do playing a dangerous ball and the overlap from LVL asks a lot out of Taylor flint and that half a second gives Ryan the opportunity to bend the ball to the far pose but she can't tuck it into the side netting we've seen Ryan score that number of a little quick combination Gotham has looked better more eager in these last five six minutes to try to get something out of this game both listed as questionable heading into this game Farley cealing with a thigh injury so working her way back from that and I'm sure that's why we've only SE we're only going to see them for what 10 15 minutes don't have a lot in the tank Stevens collides there with Flint watch out things are starting to get really physical in the Midfield already was intensity picking up as both of these teams fight to get a victory Sonic lots of speed there fiser goes down Sears she won't get anything out of this but all of her teammates are going to give her the most love because this is absolutely ridiculous she picks up the ball in her own half and just takes it to back line and sometimes good things happen she ends all the way on the end line so there's two Defenders behind the ball railen Turner is on side and my goodness that is a delightful finish from the rookies they just changed the game well Turner that's two streak games with a goal she's got two goals and two assists now on the season a number six pick out of UCLA but for racing Louisville this is so good for the future that these two players are showing up in big moments a stoppage time finish for racing Louisville can they hang on lval has something to say about that Ryan [Music] brunia curls it up lond bubbles LEL shoots and it's in Gotham retaliates Rose lvll in her first appearance with the club make some magic happen yeah that's big time from Gotham because right off the kickoff they they look like they had a fire in their eyes this is Rose lel's first regular season goal since September of 2022 and she makes it count here it's it's not convincing from Katie Lun she doesn't come up big enough I think she should have punched it or hit it cleanly it doesn't matter there she has to call her Defender off and then it falls into this space where Ros LEL is just lurking great touch it's a a really good touch there in the on the top of the field by Ella Steven just to touch it back to Rose LEL she ends up some way somehow getting a point back here for Gotham what a reaction well I guess everybody saved all the scoring the stopage time now things have really opened up in this game who knows we're not done yet we still have two minutes left someone could walk away with three points certainly had the momentum there here's Sears again she created the last goal up the middle keeps on going Emma Sears takes it herself takes a shot burger with a diving stop that was a good shot from Sears here comes a counter for Gotham I hope you are well situated in your seat and you stayed with us because the first 90 of this game were so Cy and now here it's open chances on either end we've already had three games that have had gamewinners in the 90 plus minutes this season I don't know a minute left more I'm not convinced we won't get a game winner here fiser just lands on LVL Sears wide missed shot and Berger has it oh if she got a better look on that that's a goal because she just totally lost her Defender it's one of the things she's just so poised in the attacking third
