McCade O'Reilly on Montana State Bobcats' win at New Mexico

You' had some you've been here a while there's been some crazy games where is this one kind of rank or how would you describe this one compared to the other um it's probably number two or three okay I'd say uh South Dakota State I think that was my sophomore year was pretty crazy when we beat him at home probably my favorite memory playing football um this might be number two national championship was pretty fun experience Weir ones that you played um that I can remember now yeah you had a pretty major sack early in the first half can you through that play getting getting the job done there yeah for sure uh we were just kind of you know expecting a lot of quarterback run coming into the game the guy's a pretty talented individual and uh you know I saw him uh kind of go through that speed option progression and then I just ran through my Gap and Tackle him so yeah it's pretty exciting of mentioned his ability what were some of the difficulties they were throwing guys their offense this uh yeah they had a lot of different kind of motions um definitely had some tells from those motions but um they definitely uh Sidetrack your eyes a little bit when you're reading your keys so it uh sorted out when you guys were down I think 17 enter in the fourth I guess how were how was the defense kind of feeling and I guess where was your mindset at thinking you guys come back yeah we were just locked in we're just trying to do everything we could do when we're out there I mean I'm thinking trying to make a big play every single play so I'm just thinking about the next play and that's it what are some differences that you think there are between this year's defense and last year uh we're missing Nolan yeah but I mean you guys held these guys to know 17 points and you know the rough part was really mostly passive penalties yeah for sure main part was seemed like everybody yeah I think we have a lot of senior guys with a lot of experience who trust the guys around them and then we also have you know coach Dy stepping into that defensive coordinator role and we have a lot of trust in him and you know whatever he calls goes and uh just trusting what what he knows and trusting the players around me is really what goes into it all Tom me kind of mentioned the adversity you guys have had over the course of the years now um how much do you think that helped you guys stay Cal and able to get through so much adversity in this one yeah for sure I mean our class has been through so much uh you know been a two semi-final games National Championship uh and then that early loss last year so I think going through all of those challenges and then working through this summer and staying focused on the goals we have this season I think we were able to persevere today any moment or anything anybody said that that really felt like maybe switched anything in the second half there um yeah well you know time MCA stepped up in the locker room and kind of got the guys together and uh just kind of rallied us around around the offense around him um and that just that just inspires the defense so much more to play hard for them you say what anything he said in that speech uh no what's going through your head when they come out in the win te like jumbo formation which you guys haven't prepared for and then like are you just like okay we haven't seen this and then kind of like what's the communication like when you're trying to adjust for that in game yeah you know we have some good calls for that uh specifically because you know North Dakota State and SDSU run some of those bigger packages so it wasn't it wasn't uh you know didn't take us off guard or anything and I mean I mean we've practiced that in the years past you know hundreds of reps so um when it came out when they came out in that we weren't weren't too frightened so when they ran it two times in a row in the first half and got the touch down on the second one just them being good or was that were you guys that was just a crafty play I think by by them I mean to get us up on our toes and get us up on the line of scrimmage the first play and then second play to you know boot out on the on the field side so good on them I guess three games last season where you guys lost by less than three or four points uh to drop one out by three points today just what what does that mean to you what does that say about this team this year yeah it's definitely encouraging I mean we've had so many so many close losses um know that we can get it done this year and that we can p persevere you know during that two-minute drill we worked out a lot in practice and it's finally paying off so it's good to see those two drops that they had on third down um what was that that kind of react to those and how much I don't know confidence and momentum wi did you get kind of get in your Sal I was just excited I mean especially when they dropped that last one I mean that's pretty much the game right there so all I can do is be thankful
