hey y'all Trent here and I am back with another Fierce Street review today I'm going to be talking about Into the Fire the Lost daughter which is currently streaming on Netflix as you know I'm going to try my best not to get into any spoiler lands but you know sometimes they happen so if you need to pause and go watch and then come back I totally understand but let's get into this let's start with the synopsis a Tena a tenacious mother unravels the complex mystery surr founding the 1989 disappearance of the daughter she placed for adoption okay first things first this movie is incredibly compelling I think in a large part due to the biological mother Kathy Norman said hi um the biological mother Kathy is incredibly um compelling her story is just completely tragic the fact that you know she was felt like she was pressured to put this child up for adoption she did in hoping that the child would find a better life than what she can provide it and then this is what happened and it's incredibly incredibly incredibly tragic but I also admire her strength and the ab her ability to tell the story so that she can get some justice for her daughter I admire that a lot and so I think she is why this movie or this documentary is incredibly compelling uh I want to First mention too though that when the movie starts there's a lot of names throwing at throw it at you really really quickly and it could be a little overwhelming it took me about roughly 15ish minutes to really settle in and get into like okay this is what this this is who each of these people are it just it's very fast so just be aware of that when you go into it um this obviously this documentary further hi highlights how our system completely unders serves young people the fact that no one believed this girl as she was trying to tell them what was happening to her and everyone believed her abusers over her was just it it's incredibly sad and I wish that I could say that this was better you know so many decades later but here we are um it it's just her only support system were her fellow young people there was no adults that we see in the movie anyway that um we're protecting her we're helping her we're giving giving her the support that she desperately needed and it's just completely tragic I want to talk a little bit about this adoptive mother Brenda she is in my opinion just as culpable just as responsible as to what happened to her daughter it is in some you know you could she she apparently says in the docu in the documentary that she had no idea she feels like she's shocked she's blindsided but I wonder how many red flags did she not look did she ignore how many times did her daughter tell her what was happening and she didn't believe her how many times can this happen like this it just the the amount of white women specifically that will ignore the red flags of their of their husbands is just astounding to me and I don't understand it um and in my opinion she is just as responsible for what happened to her daughter and it's infuriating honestly um so in retrospect in overview right I'm going to give this movie four drinks out of five U with this documentary four drinks out of five I think the twists and turns are keep me on the edge of my seat I think the Kathy is such a great protagonist I think that I it's a it's well paced it brings you into the world like I said it does kind of like jump throw you into it but like once you get settled in I think that it really tells the story well so four out of five have you seen this movie do you agree do you disagree let me know in the comments and as always make sure that you stay fierce out there
