tell me about Lord wahed Ali being given a pass to number 10 what's that all about um as far as I'm aware he hasn't got a pass now um he had but he did have one I think he had a pass for a few weeks um and it was a triaa pass as well he could go wherever he wanted to well I don't know about that k um but I understand that it was for uh a period of a few weeks when we first got into government you know Lord Ali is a well respected uh Labor uh peer um uh have access to D street though well as far as I'm aware it wasn't involved in any uh policy uh decisions uh in in Downing Street It's Not Unusual for um uh of political figure to um have uh a pass uh no as far as I'm aware no rules have been broken and he doesn't have a pass anymore nothing to do with the fact that he personally donated quite a lot of money to K D's campaign no I mean Lord Ali about the £20,000 worth of clothes and glasses he gave Lord Ali is someone who's been a labor peer for very long time uh he did a great deal uh of uh work supporting our general uh election campaign uh and had a pass for a very short period of time after uh we won the election we wasn't involved in uh policy uh decision lots of other people help you win the election as well did they have a pass too I can't comment on individual uh who's got passes and who hasn't got passes to to to number 10 and I think you probably you know would appreciate that um but okay let me ask you another way is it reasonable for anybody who donates a significant amount of money to have access to the seat of power in our country well there's no rules that um uh prevent someone who has uh made ort a donation or had a political job in the past uh being uh uh you know uh having a role um you know there are rules that have to be followed there are processes that have to be uh followed and it's important that those rules are uh respected Lord D had a pass for uh a few a few weeks I don't know the details of that um but I'm sure the proper processes followed who would have issued it I can't answer that uh K you know I'm not involved I'm not in that involved in that process yeah look he had a pass for uh a few weeks as I understand it he hasn't got a pass now he's a well respected uh figure a Labor uh peer um and you know there are processes that have to be followed
