Mark Zinno on the Desmond Ridder trade

Desmond Ritter is now an Arizona Cardinal and I was a little bit surprised by this only because I thought Desmond Ritter to me was a cheap backup like Taylor hinei was the guy that should have gotten the axe because in my opinion Desmond Ritter at worst was just as good as Taylor hecki and he's $6 million cheaper this year but does this give you a little idea of kind of what was going on behind the scenes like do you think this kind of tells you that Arthur Smith was a little clung on to Desmond Ritter a lot more than Terry font and maybe that was his guy and or maybe is that painting the picture you don't think that at all I I don't believe I I believe that it was 100% a joint decision between fno and Smith to go with Ritter to draft Ritter and then to go with him in the situation that they were in um again if everything is as collaborative as the Falcons want us to believe there is no way it was a oneman decision I think the decision to trade him came from the fact that it realized look you know when we fired the coach and the quarterback that that that got to stay and clearly the quarterback was the problem not the coach right like we can all admit objectively and I know I'm the only guy on this island Arthur Smith was not the real problem it was Desmond Ritter and Arthur Smith got himself fired because the quarterback could not execute I think that's fact I don't even think I I know people will argue but I think it's fact so keeping Desmond Ritter here was untenable it was a bad look because they he knew and everybody knew the organization had zero faith in him so this was just about moving on for him moving get getting rid of him and and leaving it alone uh and and just kind of turning the page and giving him a fresh start because he never would have had one here yeah that's fair God forbid Kirk Cousins gets hurt in week three and you see him trotting off the sidelines is anybody at Mercedes-Benz Stadium cheering no they're booing like wildly like it was he was never goingon to succeed here desn't R doesn't matter what he do so were you were you a little bit surprised at the return I mean M Jones goes for a sixth round pick you're able to get a former second round pick and Ron Del Moore I know he hasn't lived up to the billing but the guy's a Speedster he's a legitimate at worst wide receiver four potential wide receiver three you get that for Desmond Ritter the fact that you got more than a bag of balls on an extra grounds keeper for Desmond Ritter was impressive to me uh yeah take it and run like the Arizona Cardinals seem like that one guy in your fantasy league that gets fleeced every year for a stupid trade you know like that's what the Arizona Cardinals feel like right now you know the guy that you I well I I can't like remember other trades but I mean I know they're you know a dumpster fire of an organization so I'm sure they're getting flee left and right yeah I mean that made no sense to me I mean it seemed like a guy you know we talk about Darnell Mooney and not putting up the stats necessarily that you might expect for the contract that he received but I I I said this yesterday you know he was catching from Justin Fields Andy Dalton and Nick FES over the last three season uh Darnell Mooney was catching passes from who who was the quarterback when Kyler Murray was out I like like four different guys see like yeah I mean a bunch of guys that you know have been that were plumbers before they got before they became backup quarterb I mean I'm just saying like the situation was terrible um now I don't expect him to come here and be a thousand yard guy but you know like you said the fact that you got anything I thought it might have been a conditional seventh round pick that we never got I just I was shocked we actually got a player look I mean I have no I have no issues with anything that Terry fno has done since the day that he got here my only issue is the organizationally what they you know how they presented him and what they did I've never questioned Terry foto's ability to build a roster or find Talent or do anything I don't think anybody has any reason to he's really good at his job I think he's proven that over and over again uh again I didn't like the way the whole Arthur smith thing went down you know my feelings on that we've talked about it repeatedly but uh moving just turning the page you got a good GM man you got a good Personnel guy who understands and knows how to how to you know acquire talent and I think that's Paramount more than anything so you know from that standpoint yeah um as far as the backup quarterback situation is concerned I'll say this much and you want the smartest most easiest plan out there if you ask me I'm gonna blow your mind with this I'd go sign Jimmy Garoppolo right now hold on a second hold on a second what system does does he come from the same system that Zack Robinson is going to run okay he is a guy that you know has played at a high level routinely every time he's been given an opportunity hold up hold up actually I I don't want to cut you off I I I want you to start off the next segment doing this because
