all right pay pay pay yes sir like this uh so bro uh let's go ahead and kick this off man I'm gonna let you talk to the people I'm gonna go ahead and just fire up my cigar here sure thing uh and celebratory fashion as you should um because if people can read it says it right there with has happen well I was going to ask you if it's okay for me to go inside real quick grab an egg out of the fridge and then just dump it on my face no no need no need it's enough embarrassment has uh already uh happened so by all means bro go ahead talk to the people well you know what man you coined the phrase when we were talking about this game on Thursday what about that back field for Georgia Tech what did you call them hes and haes Law Firm the law firm they weren't looking like a law firm today they were looking more like a buzz song I mean all right a hardware store yeah yes sir whether it was Jamal running up the middle or hannes running on the perimeter y they were getting it done on the ground so that was my first takeway secondarily I think sometimes especially in college football you get these games and you get into these scenarios where sometimes it sounds simple but the more mobile quarterback takes the day and wins the game yeah what do you think about that man I would definitely AG uh overall overall I think Georgia Tech look way more prepared than FSU um and there's a lot of factors that I can get into but the one factor that I will say and for me being a former player and you you know this as well you play up or down to your competition so I think while FSU more often or more than likely was underestimating Georgia Tech I think Georgia Tech came into this game ready and that's what I said on the show on Friday like they can't they had this game marked on their calendar for a long time um some of the things that stuck out to me was uh the mental capacity of the quarterback uh Haynes king and the the way that he maneuvered throughout about the game the the third down completion to the sideline that struck it was like third and 12 and that completion right there just let me know like this guy didn't come to play any games today so there was a lot of plays that could have been play of the game um but I think that one play in particular would probably be the play of the game because it led to another like multiple plays after that then uh Hayes King ran that that draw read option up the middle yeah I was about to say he put a heck of a drive together in that third quarter those two plays that you're alluding to man he was he was standing out in that quarter for sure and um that was the other thing Haynes King only throwing five passes in the first half we saw Georgia Tech was committed to running the ball they stayed committed to it throughout the game and that option game was working and they took advantage so just to just to because we kind of jumped into it a little quickly but sure uh for everybody that's sitting at home my name is Russ this is Payton we are the sports of holics by all means we are just recapping right now what we witnessed in that FSU that week zero game FSU versus Georgia Tech but more I should say Georgia Tech versus FSU even though Florida state was the home team in Dublin but it was really more Georgia Tech who seemed like they were at home so I I I want to give a big congratulations to those those guys because they played their behinds off today I'm smoking a stogy for you guys I got my drink poured up over here and actually give me one second let me grab that really quick hold on yeah you're good man what's a what's a celebration yeah what you got over there what's a what's a celebration without a cup man absolutely yeah I am drinking bardi rum bardi lemon from with uh Tapo Poco Tapo Cho Tapo Chico soda all right and I am sticking with the Evan Williams straight bger whiskey from Thursday night okay obviously I like it you like it you like it a lot like Thursday having it today probably gonna finish it off either tonight or tomorrow you know you gon finish it off Hey listen I I said on the caption on Instagram I said don't judge us for the damage that we are doing to the bottles but it it seems like Payton is doing most of the damage yeah hopefully no judgment comes our way like you said no no judgment at all man it's it's all funny games man and we're also adults at the end of the day so that's true but uh Payton uh who do you want to give out some game balls for this last game man I'll go back to the well with the back field of Georgia Tech between the quarterback and the halfback they really set the table they were Catalyst in the Run game Y and I go back to that drive that hayen King put together in the third quarter multiple third Downs where he stood in the pocket delivered the ball down the field made something happen late in the play yeah you know um so I'm going back to those two guys and of course Georgia Tech's offensive line we know that Brent key Georgia Tech's head coach is a former offensive lineman he's obviously built up a good culture at Georgia Tech and um again you sure you know you go get that egg no you're good bro you're not a Florida State fan so you get a all right you get a pass here you were only doing your job so nobody's mad at you nobody's mad at you but me being a a fellow hurricane I am excited to see Florida State come out and lose now we have we have a tough week one matchup against the Gators all right instate rivalry so that's gonna be a huge game for Miami and we'll see exactly where they are in the next week but today is not about them today is really more so about the NOS losing FS who all right FS who Sima NOS by the way all right so um with that being said man uh I give my game ball to the defense of Georgia Tech being able to stick in there because after that first drive when Florida state was just pushing the ball down the field they had that huge run uh to score the touchdown I they actually had a couple huge runs in that first drive but to to score off on the first drive it could have broke Georgia Tech's uh demeanor but it didn't and they chose to stand up to what was actually in front of them and they played out a a great game what I will say is if you guys go back I don't know his name forgive me I don't know his name but the linebacker number 44 he wears the neck roll KY e yes if you ever and this is to all my young cats out there if you ever see a linebacker with the neck roll on just know he came to play that day all right so any if you go back in history of time if you see any linebacker with a neck roll on they mean business man and if you go watch the highlights of today's game he's all over the field sideline to sideline in the Run fit to the middle so that's a great call out by you he was there to play today so I will say they did give us a scare um late in the fourth quarter when Florida State went down and they uh scored their touchdown to tie the game up 21-21 um but throughout this whole game the biggest thing that stuck out to me was time management it didn't seem like Georgia Tech at anytime in this game was in a rush to you know snap the ball or they felt they they seemed like they were very comfortable so I I want to give uh a tremendous hand clap to the the coaching staff for managing that game and getting them to where they needed to be which was a victory so yeah and you hit on the defense how about the defensive backs especially so the safey coming up and making tackles near the line of scrimmage a couple of plays down the field and coverage yes sir I don't want I don't want to give them all the credit because there were some questionable calls in that fourth quarter uh especially on that uh game time drive that FSU put together they had some players that was standing in space and you know if we really go back and break break it down but throughout the whole game like you said to your point they did have some spectacular plays and filling that guy they didn't seem scared at all and and that's good I I don't know what that means for the ACC and Georgia Tech but we'll definitely see my prediction is they flatten out here okay that is that is my prediction I I think they ride this high for the next four or five weeks we went over the schedule um but I do think when it comes to ACC competition they probably will flatten out a little bit um you know it's funny you bring that up because speaking of the depth of the conference I mean as we know Florida state is the favorite to win the conference probably not after today anymore but Georgia Tech was sitting down there maybe the sixth seventh eighth best team in the conference coming in yeah certainly didn't look like it today and that's just to name one team outside of the big three with Miami Clemson and Florida State you've got some sleepers in there other than Georgia Tech as well so shout out to the ACC listen and this is to my point on what I said on the show I know the the college football playoff committee sitting at home in their group chat and they're like see this is exactly why we didn't put them in last year because this is exactly what we would have gotten even though it was a good game but on the radar Georgia Tech is a lower level team on the come up but not as talented on paper right 100% so they showed out today the spread was 10 10 and a half and not only did Georgia Tech cover that but they won the game they won the money line man I I should have put some real money on that game oh man I'm disappointed in myself that have been a pretty penny man I'm I'm so disappointed in myself and and things like that don't happen too often but you know that's something that I wish I would have pulled the trick on yeah you know but it's all good it's all good I'm just stay here and enjoy this uh we got a beautiful view right here and uh and there will be plenty more opportunities down the road this season to get some bets in so yeah man so another takeaway that I have from this game is DJ U right DJ U uh he had a struggle day um FSU in general they had some drop passes um that could have led to first downs um um one one in particular drop pass or underthrown ball no doubt um you know had they scored the touchdown right there that that pass would have led them to uh be in the red zone so they had some opportunities that they did not take advantage of which led to the defeat today so um Florida state has to hit the locker room they have to hit the the chalkboard and they have to get things right if they want to at least continue to be in the top conversation of the top teams in in NCAA this year so we'll see what happens with them you talk about DJ OU young man this is his last shot to make it big as we know started at Clemson went to Oregon State yeah now at Florida State there's a hesitancy about his game that concerns me yeah you know what I mean I just want to see him let it rip and Trust the timing with his receiver so hey what what's what's Dabo saying right now oh man D dav's probably dav's probably in his office he probably was watching this game like this like see when he when he left I didn't really have a problem with it you know not that not to say that Clinton sitting in a in a great spot right now but you know like davo probably really wasn't worried about it uh too much man but I think I think FSU has an opportunity to bounce back yeah I think so too they've got some big games coming up here they host Clemson at the beginning of October they obviously go to Miami at the end of October so they're going to have chances to redeem themselves but as I said in the first episode maybe more so in the NFL Less in college but in today's day and age this is a sport that is driven by the quarterback so he's going to have to improve his play there's no doubt about it 100% um and another thing that St stood out about dju to me was his immobility immobility you know like he wasn't for a guy that of his stature sure you would think he was actually more athletic than what he was like he was struggling to to run the ball yeah um the ball the the passing is not necessarily an issue I think he had some incredible passes in that game um you mix in the incomplete passes but I I think he has a a major upside yeah and like I said before the main takeaway here is that Georgia Tech had more time to prepare for this game they had the same amount of time but the in the preparation is different when you're considered an underdog uh the the time in between where you have time to uh you know dissect who your opponent actually is nothing has changed about the coaching sta so their their demeanor and how they approach the game is pretty much the same as it was last year you know but there's a little extra fire in the belly each time you wake up when you know you're that Underdog exactly yeah exactly so I I I nothing but congratulations goes out to Georgia te I'm happy I'm so happy for them man a great opportunity to shake up the top 10 no doubt now do you think Georgia Tech pokes their head into the top 25 how can they not yeah how can they not after beting a top 10 team playing the way they played today not saying be 10 but they they will poke their head into the top 25 absolutely now how many how many notches do you think Florida State drops I'm gonna go with they stay in the top 25 but are on the outside looking into the top 20 in that range what do you think yeah so I think uh they dropped probably seven to nine spots because when you lose to unranked opponent it does a lot to your your credibility as a team so in in the past I don't have a a reference right now so forgive me I apologize but we've seen teams go from the top of the ranking to somewhere in the middle or below that um when they lose to unranked opponent so I I think I think s- N is a safe spot if they Dro lower than that and I don't think they Dro lower than that because it was a good game it was a tough fault game yeah you know like it wasn't like Georgia Tech came in and blew them out right um I think Georgia Tech just did a a better job at managing that game and converting on third down situations sure uh and and stepping up big when the time was necessary by the way man if you would have been able to suit up for Georgia Tech today you would have loved it because man they were hammering that rock they let those offensive linemen go to work play downhill man and that's another point I want to bring up you know being a big LSU fan we saw less miles tenure at LSU extend over a decade and he was highly criticized at times right but at this level of football being the Collegiate level at the end of the day man you can really assert your will and assert your dominance at the point of attack yeah at the line of scrimmage more so than the NFL yeah and I think that's what we saw today from Georgia Tech just an a former offensive lineman in head coach Brent key and his style of play coming out paired with hannes King who's a dual threat who can be a catalyst in the Run game that's a great marriage so before we get out of here uh I do want to give some more credit to players on both teams on both sides of the ball and that's to the kickers from Georgia Tech and Florida State yeah like one have you ever tried to kick field goal before man it's been a long time yeah I i' I've tried and I tried and I can't get it down so one that's a science but two the Florida state kicker hit 250 plus field goals 50 plus 55 plus field goals in today's game and he did the best that he could in order to get his team in a in a winnable situation now the Georgia Tech kicker he missed the field goal earlier in the game and the reason why I want to give him some credit is because he shook that off all right he shook that off and when the game was on the line and his team needed him the most he stood in the pocket strong yeah you know not a literal pocket but he stood he stood in the paint strong and he uh did exactly what he had to do and this goes to the Tendencies of the coaching staff because late in that game you can tell that the kicker likes the kick from the left hash because they kept the ball on that left hash throughout that drive right you know it was either middle or left hash and he nailed that kick perfectly so big UPS to both kickers on on on the team yeah because without them with well without Florida State's kicker the the score would not have been as close as it was exactly um so yeah yeah man any more takeaways from you bro well I don't want to I don't want to Hype up college football and all that too much because it's still Niche now we know it's going to be looked at more on a national scale this year because of the expanded playoff because there's supposed to be more parody but again this is why college football is my favorite sport there's supposed to be less parody in college football than the NFL we just saw a top 10 team go down in the first game of the season yeah that's why if you're not a huge college football fan I advocate you to get into it because man this stuff like this happens every Saturday yes sir you know and it's exciting to watch and that's this is really where my love of Cinderella stories develop because I like seeing unranked opponents come in and beat ranked opponents um anytime I see a favorable matchup like that or where I feel like the game is going to be closer than what Vegas or the the odds makers are predicting I I see ample opportunity there and to say that the game was going to be 10 and a half and not a 14 point or a like you said it started out at 13 right but it it came down because the odd makers saw something in Georgia Tech yeah you know so while on paper they had that's all they had to go off of but while on paper it did seem like Florida state was the better team today I think they just got out coached um and a bit of their Cockiness kind of went into that too as you can see on in in the beginning of the game they were a bit hyped and you know feeling themselves that first drive man the right down the field like it it was it was really like Florida State came out and you thought it was going to be a blowout blowout game based off that first drive the way that they were moving the ball so uh I I nothing but good things to say about Georgia Tech yes um and like Nick Sav said they they're a sleeper in the ACC I know you think they might flatten out a little bit and I don't expect them to make the conference Championship game but they're going to be a player yeah down the stretch okay yeah we'll see man uh any other thoughts about the game or anything else you want to let the people know I guess I'm just gonna double down on Florida State and say they still win the conference and you know what if they don't we're going to actually bring the egg out and my face like because you didn't let me do that today but if they don't in fact win the ACC we're getting the egg out hey I need the producers to go ahead and clip that that clip right there because it's gonna it's gonna happen I don't like FSU to win the conference Championship but we will see yeah we'll see it's a it's a loaded conference um and season and I think the the competition in that conf conference is is closer than not and that was
