Sabalenka vs Pegula | US Open Final 2024 | Preview & Prediction

Intro it's the US Open final and we've got Jess Pula in our first ever Grand Slam final up against Alina sabalenka the Australian Open champion and last year's defeated finalist this is the preview her semifinal against Emma Navaro the other American that was in the semi-finals it was 63 76 and very very hotly contested matchup this one was I thought that Navaro gave a great showing of herself in this match and there were breaks of serve on either side you weren't sure which way it was going to go in the first set but sabalenka got the extra break and uh was able to see it out that powerful serve the powerful ground shots and it was more the same in the second set it was Sabal Len who looked like she was going to Coast to Victory but we had the problem serving it out and she got broken to make it five all but then got it done in the tie break it was impressive and clinical from Arina sabalenka who's now into backto back US Open f Fin and she's the first woman to do so since Serena Williams in 2019 uh playing George op in tennis I definitely agree with that all hard-hitting and she's very consistent at the moment the only wobble really in that match was serving out for the match but she managed to yeah just reassure herself in the tie break she can do this and I was very impressed to see how she's come on Leaps and Bounds despite the whole crowd being against her which she did reference afterwards they said you're back in the US Open final what does this mean to you and the crowd cheers and she said guys now you're cheering for me wow it's a bit too late and well you've got to have a little bit of fun with it of course they're going to be cheering on the American but it wasn't to be for Emma Navaro but she can leave with her head held high a fantastic tournament and I'm sure we'll see here in a final at some point soon in her career sabalenka is now 26 and one in hardcourt slams since the start of 2023 that's a 96% win rate you can't argue with that type of consistency just too good on the hard courts and she looks very very impressive she's backto back Australian Open Champion she's now backto back US Open finalist can she tick this one off the list as you can you can see here she's been getting gradually better at the US Open a semifinalist in 2021 semifinalist in 2022 finalist in 2023 does it mean she's finally going to win it in 2024 well stay tuned I'll give you my prediction after this and we'll look at who she had to play going through the tournament so you can see there first round was Han she got it done in straight sets bronzetti straight sets the only set she's dropped in the entire tournament was against alexandera that was two sets to one and then she well beat mertins beat the breaks off of Kim wi Jang and then a close uh closer I'd say against Navado but still straight sets let's move on to her competitor and wow into her first Grand Slam semifinal and now into her first Pegula Grand Slam uh singles final it is incredible Jess Pula finally realizing the dream and I think she's playing some really good tennis I think she was down nearly out in her match against mova but she's able to turn it around I actually got a prediction right for once I said Jess pilu would lose the first set and then find the fight and come back with the help of the crowd and it's what happened she was down 6-1 she was down a break early in that second set and she really did come to life I think that there was one point where mover may have missed a volley um and that was sort of the turning point I think Jess poua though she's showing resilience right now and this is just what we've been waiting for from her I I wasn't that confident that she was going to be able to even do it against Muka but there was just something about this year something about the Americans and that's why I thought that she would be able to turn it around this match I thought it was just so impressive watching how she turned it around though I'm really thinking that she's becoming more and more consistent in her game style as well she's able to not rush shots I thought that was one of my big takeaways from this one M of a great defensive skills at the back of the Court mixes up the paces and she kept giving her lots of looping returns and Pula doesn't just rush she takes her time she waits for the ball to just hit the right level and she'll continue the rally she doesn't go for like crazy smashes here and there she'll just happily push you around the court again and I thought credit to her she really really played a good tactical match to come back into it and got the job done uh and like they're saying here Pula comeback power I mean she definitely showed a different side of herself and with her dad watching from the stands Terry Pula owner of the Buffalo Bills the Buffalo Sabers and and many many more happy to watch his daughter reach a first Grand Slam final obviously being in New Yorker as well probably means even more to Jess Pula and her family and this has been a route through the tournament she had Shelby Rogers in the first round got through her in straight sets Sophia Kenan could have been a potential b banana skin didn't turn out to be but it was a close match a tie break and 63 then it was bowas manelo in the next round she got through her in straight sets Schneider who had been an inform Russian coming into the tournament got rid of her in straight sets eager ontic she got rid of her in straight sets and then the real test Muk Who coming back from injury and all of the stuff around her I still think Muka had a fantastic tournament yet again but a very impressive Victory and where does this put her instead to go up against the best hardcore player on the women's tour in Arena sabalenka H2H well the head-to-head between the two is 52 in favor of Arena sabalenka and if we have a look when they last played it was Cincinnati just well literally weeks ago and Alina sabalenka got it done in straight set 6375 before that it was a WTA finals Pula in straight sets then before that the WTA finals Sabal Lena in straight sets that then sabalenka in Rome in straight sets sabalenka in Madrid in straight sets they've only ever been to three sets once in all seven matches and that was the first match they ever played which seems pretty crazy but let's get on to my prediction right here we Prediction go this one the crowd all going to be on the side of Jess Pula I'm sorry sabba but that's just the way it is you in America you're against a new a New Yorker as well she didn't have any of them on her side against Nado but it didn't seem to affect her and I think that that's the big telling factor is she knows what to expect now she performed well in that match against Navaro a little wobble here a little wobble there but ultimately the result was it was awesome it was to love I think we're going to see the exact same thing that we saw in the semi final in the final two close sets but it is Sabal Lena with her first US Open title and I can confirm also JG going for Sabal lenker in two but that's just my prediction tell me your prediction in that comment section below is it
