well look for STM to play about a series maybe two and on first down audri EST the rookie from Notre Dame picks up one I was with Jared sidm in New England when he first got drafted coming out of Auburn and he was a guy that you're looking at hey you know what when Brady Mo had to take over he goes to the Raiders plays in Derek Carr's absence comes here plays in Russell he's a veteran guy that they know can they can trust and he fully understands s first pass attempt and he locates EST out of the back field he slips a tackle and picks up a first first down I know Jason McCord's rooting for audri EST they grew up in the same town of nyak New York and also played at the sanum high school in New Jersey St Joe's Montell I'm trying not to be biased today Andrew and you called me out early on in the first quarter but this is just a really good job by SMA because he's a bigger back te and you understand that catches the ball with his hands makes a guy Miss and interesting here in Denver there's a lot of names in that back field 14 yds on the play they go right back to the rookie across the 35 and down to the 32 we know that javante Williams is the starting running back but Shawn pton really loves Jia mlin cuz he's so diverse can do so many things out of the back field but audri ese gets to start here in the last preseason games he's already caught a ball out of the back field he's running behind his pads getting hit but then picking up two extra yards those are the type of things that you want to see from a guy who's going to be a situational back most likely but one thing we haven't seen yet is pass Pro that's what a running back and Shawn Payton's offense has to be able to do stum has time rolling right and now will'll just throw it away he was chased by Victor deuki bonick 12th overall and he wins the starting QB job this summer third and two St him on the move again and will thr throw it away good pressure by Phil Hoskins and now on fourth down and two Shawn pyton is going to go for it yeah this is a this isn't we see on this this wide view here Jared stm's trying to get this ball out to uh to V Devon V but the timing is off when V is out of his break Jared sdm's not ready to throw the ball yet and as a result he gets to the sideline there's nowhere for him to go with it Payton wanted to get stum 8 to 12 plays so an opportunity here maybe to extend this opening drive and get Jared a little more time before going to Zach Wilson did him on the slant he's got him in he's got a first down it's V sha Payton has been raving about this seventh round pick out of Utah he goes for 14 the Broncos right there once again they go to two wide receivers in close proximity stacked together a little bit of confusion for Arizona coming out of it as you see it and right there just a good job by V keeping his focus and being able to catch that ball and get up the field and pick up a huge first down on fourth down yeah on third down we talked about the timing being off it's easier with three-step drops right on time Ese and jump from behind by Miles Murphy a pickup of two boy Tiki I played against a lot of guys on that list here goes Troy Franklin and Franklin's going to get up for a first down fourth round pick out of Oregon who was Bo nicks's teammate with the Ducks one thing Shawn Peyton said to us about Franklin was he's fast and he's explosive and you're seeing here they're finding ways to get the ball in his hands yes as a rookie he's going to get better at his route running understanding what defenses are doing but if you can hand the ball up to him or throw him short passes and he's able to show that speed it's only going to help this off yeah you know we're not seeing the chemistry right now cuz B knck is sitting over there in Street Clos but also an Oregon kid first and goal for the Broncos ese up the middle inside the five and twisted down by naquan Jones estim played three years at Notre Dame he was a fifth round draft pick and so ma Pon was a big part of their offense last year in danger of not making this roster partly because of the emergence of ese They Ride es here trying to get in the end zone and he does opening drive touchdown for the Broncos and they lead it 6 [Applause] nothing such a good job by estimate here drop step gets downhill steps into to the hole to get the defender to commit and starting job Weaver on the return again for the Cardinals and does not get to the 25 dandre Tilman flying down the field and making the play but for Bo Knicks in this Denver offense there's a lot of enthusiasm and and Shawn pyton is really high on this guy and there's one thing when I was playing against a Shawn Payton Le offense it wasn't that they would go Tempo and go fast but the decisions that the quarterback made Drew Brees for a long time it happened so quickly and as a DB you felt like you were always chasing the game yeah I think one of the reasons that Sean loved B Nick so much is because of his maturity it's not like he's a rookie coming in here 24 and a half years [Applause] old here's Jones on the carry and that's really part of a bigger conversation that we've had throughout the week the covid college player playing five six seasons I mean V is 26 years old and he's a rookie but because of that Jonathan Ganon told us that he's seen guys come out of college a lot more prepared and pro ready because of the extra time in school and he talked about the programs that these guys are coming from and what the college coaches are doing them to prepare them for the NFL and a credit to these guys it's one thing to play a lot of college games it's another thing to play him well and come into this level and Excel right away second and eight for ton he's got a first down out to the 40 yd line that's belli reeling it in for a gain of 16 [Music] Clayton ton has done a really good job and obviously Desmond Ritter coming over from Atlanta he has to pick up and learn this offense for clay in tune this is his second year with the offensive coordinator ping so he knows and he can anticipate those throws get the ball out and be able to move this [Applause] offense about is these quarterback coaches that these soon to be NFL young quarterbacks are hiring to get them ready for the NFL Brad Rogers our referee a late flag down on the field anible man downfield loss of one Nick Bono just an excellent job right there by Bonito what he's able to do he's coming off the edge right here and he's going to make a huge play right now and this is just a really good job by Bonito making sure hey I got in the backfield but now I have to make the play and get this big running back on the ground and that's something Bonito has been working on he had eight sacks last year but stopping the Run has been a focal point for Bonito tun under pressure again and down he goes and once again it's Jordan [Applause] Jackson the Air Force product with his second big play of the quarter yeah Jordan Jackson's making his his presence felt early in this game had to run stuff early here he is he's doing a TT game in the middle of this defensive front and Clayton ton holding on to the ball to try to push it down field and just runs out of time it's that pick guy that always able to come off and get vertical and be able to make the play spent last year on the Denver practice squad as Blake gilin is punting to Michael Bandy who will let it fly over his head into the end zone for a Touchback takes care of himself is like a 10 or 12E vet sky is the limit for Kyler Murray and Marvin Harrison Jr they said that they had to tell him to stop doing so much extra work he wanted to run routes after practice now I don't know about you Tiki but me as a rookie I wasn't trying to do that much extra work it felt like a look in itself was extra yeah it was a lot to learn Bandy on the return Blake whiteheart makes the tackle after a return of six yards decisions that he makes when he has the ball in his hands and he's under pressure like in this case and that's is screen so it's easier decision to get rid of the football but we saw it earlier in the game he made a terrible decision to try to flip that one out to coll and it was almost intercepted if it would have been it probably would have went back for a pick six so making the right decisions is something he really needs to to work on and Shawn pton when we chatted with him he believes he can fix that in him pass inter interference offense number 87 10yd penalty first down that goes against David Sills the fifth year wi out yeah that's David Sills blocking downfield before the ball is released timing is just a little bit off on that screen you could tell because the running back Blake Watson was out in no man's land all by himself the time was not right on that one and Tiki you're absolutely right on Zach Wilson and the tough thing for him is you get drafted so high and the Jets you're thrusted into that starting lineup and it doesn't go well you get Aaron Rogers and you're like all right I'm going to take a back seat and next thing you know he's thrust it back into the lineup I think it was so important what you said catalon of Shan Payne said I just want you to fall in love with the game of football again and being an athlete and hearing so much of what Tiki saying on the radio and everybody in the media it's tough sometimes to ignore the noise without listening yeah but you got to ignore the noise you you can't listen to the opinion of other people you have to listen to the opinion of your teammates more importantly of your coaches and and and grow that way it becomes too difficult to try to be what the fan want second down and 20 for Wilson dancing around the pocket now on the Move we've seen this before and it works well for him a nice job turning it up field at the end so Zach Wilson close to a first first down yeah it looks like he got it way Zack Wilson so he knows that none of these routes are going to come open for him to find so he sees a void and just gets on his horse a little bit I guess I should say Bronco gets on his Bronco a little bit head into the open field at the end instead of going out of bounds you put your shoulder down and go get it first a 21 yd run that's the longest play of the day by either team here's Blake Watson on drafted rookie out of Memphis you were his teammate in Miami and know him well yes and expecting to see him maybe get a few snaps today in his final preseason game and Brandon Jones in Miami was a guy that blit a ton and was a hard hitter as Stills makes a really good catch over the middle and gets out of bounds and for Brandon Jones though you're coming into a new situation we got to learn a new defense and at that safety position you got to learn how to communicate within that defense and SS right here this is just a really good job at the top of the route going against the rookie Elijah Jones a slight push off that receivers do really well you know I'm a DB I'm going to mention it but does it really well gets open and makes a really nice catch there yeah I got to give a little love to my former teammate Amman tumer he was the best at that subtle just I'm pushing you away from from me and I'm going to get separation simple dig route right on time by Zach Wilson the reason that play worked though was because the protection was available for him and he didn't feel rushed seconds on the play clock thank you Elijah Jones the rookie the booth saw 91° right now Wilson good protection by the offensive line now he'll load up and fire and completes it to Nate Atkins that was a seed from Zack Wilson and a first down for the Broncos just a really good job by Zach Wilson right there he wants a double move on the left side of the field and you're going to see him look there he pump fakes it's not open he doesn't like it goes to the middle Works himself all all the way across the field and comes all the way back to the right sideline and is able to make the completion to his tight end ains that's just a really good job of him understanding the offense and understanding his progression to get there to go bang a linebacker but Wilson firing he's got Sills at the six and Sills down inside the five Darren Hall on the tackle but Zack walk Wilson they've been moving the pocket and he's looked pretty good 14 he has he's doing a good job to your point Andrew of getting outside the pocket and Still's doing a good job of coming all the way across the field his first option was taking away a short route and he's able to go to that second level really good job by Zack Wilson so far on this drive another injured Cardinals defensive back this time it's Dad Wilson Who's down on a knee Wilson a firste corner out of Central Florida appeared in two games not only playing on the outside but playing in the slot as well I don't think rever of turn it up and get on the field of course why not Zach Wilson trying his hardest I mean he almost loses the ball going out of bounds he doesn't might get to the py line brry and Maddox Williams on the tackle I I don't love quarterbacks doing that yeah I I feel injury coming when you do that as a quarterback Reaching Your Arms out first but also exposing your head fourth and goal Wilson to the end zone wide open TouchDown Nate Atkins but there is a flag down in the back of the end zone that's holding on the Cardinals this touchdown stand Defense number 26 penalty has declined results of the play touchdown yeah this is just the old the running back is going to go cut the end you's got to get him down on the ground so the quarterback has space to throw the ball fullback just leaks out into he's got it Xavier Weaver the undrafted rookie from Colorado goes for 43 yds really good job right there go ahead yeah I was going to say this is a great job you know inum coming untouched off the edge so Clayton Ton's got to escape immediately and to make this throw on the run you could be critical and say keep him keep him running he might score a touchdown but great timing to get that thing right where it needed to be [Applause] Weaver played for Dion Sanders just down the road in Boulder and now trying to make the Cardinals roster as Jones pushes forward you go back to the kickoff though season teams have been vanilla what will they do in the regular season starts and that's going to be the thing that we're all looking for because the preseason is so different you want to return kicks you want to see who can block who can get off a block on the kickoff team defense out there and play football yeah one of the thing that was interesting in the preseason stats that we've seen comparing against last year obviously the amount of returns has increased dramatically 50 or so points but it was the average start position only moved UPL two or three yard it wasn't a lot it was creating a plays after the play please put 25 seconds on the game clock or the play clock and it will start on my ready Tiki to your point though I had Sean mcdermit the bills head coach say you think about the bottom thing here if you're starting at the 29 okay and you get eight yards and you got a fourth down you're maybe a little closer to thinking about going for it on fourth down and you look in the pass those three extra yards could make a difference in terms of when you decide to start going for it it could but I think in our minds we thought once this becomes like a scrimmage play it's not but once it becomes like a scrimmage play you're going to see some misdirection you're going to see some reverses you're going to see a lot finish up the half the points yeah as as much for Ping as for the players tune over the middle and that pass is caught big hit on the play by Jonas Griffith it was belli who made the catch and Denver will now call a timeout so that stops the clock the whole time kedron Smith had the hit and they say the ruling on the field is a catch and then fumbled out of bounds so the ball goes back to where he fumbled it from I that's that's a close one third down and two Hall trying to pick up the first down he does aazar on the tackle with one minute to go let's go back and look at this this catch or if it is a catch so one two yeah it's a catch for sure Smith forced to Fumble but it stays with Arizona 45 seconds to go toun steps up in the pocket he's going to try to keep it himself across Midfield and goes down just shy of a first down Arizona with two timeouts and they're going to use one here two more plays before this half is over Jonathan gon told us that tune was just a touch ahead of Desmond Ritter in the backup quarterback competition and that's why ton got the start today second in one Hall makes the catch he's got the first down sternard on the tackle and they're going to try to preserve that final timeout and get back to the line of scrimmage as quickly as they can 20 seconds to go a 58 yd field goal from here tun over the middle and it is incomplete dangerous pass Abrams drain was on the coverage for the Broncos Abrams drain does a really good job here he has safety help over the top and was able to undercut the route and break that pass up and that's such a dangerous run for clay and ton usually a ball tipped up to put three points on the board and end the half with possession yeah down by 14 if this was end of game they would have much more urgency but because it's half you just want to get some points on the board before you go into the break it'll be a 50yd attempt for Prader who missed earlier in the first half from 55 this one right down the middle and it is good so Matt Prader who owns the NFL record for the most field goals of 50 yards or longer with 80 in his career
