2024 Steelers Depth Chart, Can JuJu Help, Training Camp Winners & Losers

have given us man got a big show today man got a lot to talk about first things first Camp is officially I guess technically over and Table of Contents now we're going to talk about some of the camp winners and some of the losers there were several on each side of this we're going to break all that down for you today next thing preseason game number two I think it's a very very important game um as of this moment coach Tomlin Mike Tomlin still has not named who's gonna start whether it's Russell Wilson whether it's Justin Fields uh there's still some some position battles that are up for grab so G preseason game against the bills also the the practice you know that we're going to have against the bill is going to be very very important number three offensive line man we got to get this thing set enough with going the back and fourth and the flip-flopping of guys get guys in their position let them go play that's what's just what we got to do enough is enough is enough hopefully injury Detroit fianu hasn't solidified what we think the offensive line will be so hopefully he can come back and be healthy and get back into the mix and then lastly if we don't get Brandon iuk which it doesn't look like that's gonna happen thank goodness it's it's over I'm not saying whether we need him or we don't but thank goodness it's finally coming to an end do the Steelers bring back gu guu that he got cut by the New England is it a good idea to bring him back and if we do what's that look like so we're going to cover all that and more with you guys today man so appreciate you being here version anywhere you get a podcast you can get Steelers Almighty so let's get into the show people first things first Camp Winner & Losers training camp winners and losers uh we'll start out with the winners there was a lot of them of winners and losers in this Steelers training camp just like there is every year but this year I I feel like uh there were some that didn't think would be on a certain list and some are not so we're going to go over it and break it down let me know what you think in the comments on whether you think I'm right wrong indifferent whatever the case may be on the winners we start off with the winners first off I think the first one is beanie Bishop undrafted rookie he came in he's locked down that slot Corner position or has he or has he over the last week we've seen a little change in that and we'll go into that a little bit later when we break down uh our depth chart as of now but beanie Bishop is a huge winner ladies and gentlemen as far as in training camp winner because again it was a position up for grabs after we found out that Sam or Cam Sutton excuse me was gonna get suspended beanie Bishop stepped into the role he stepped up he's played well but it looks like he's got some more competition on his hands so we'll but he's a gigantic winner in this training camp next up Van Jefferson look there's been all this talk about the Steelers have to go get a wide receiver too they need to get a wide receiver too the wide receiver room looks bad then Roman Wilson goes down what are we gonna do van Jefferson stepped up not only has he stepped up and looked good and I just want to remind people the year that that the Rams won the Super Bowl van Jefferson was a big part of that I'm not saying he was Cooper cup I'm not saying that he was um Odell Beckham Jr when he got there but he was part of that he had a good season and then since then he's just been hurt that's kind of been his thing it's not that he can't play football the guy's been injured now again the best ability is availability and he hasn't been available so it is what it is but in this Steelers training camp he's been available he's got he's looked sharp in and out of breaks top of the routes getting separation catching the ball with his hands playing good football he has locked down that wide receiver two position in my op in my opinion and a lot of people's opinion for the Pittsburgh Steelers and maybe they just don't need to go out and spend the kind of draft capital and then pay a big time wide receiver to come in here U you know from another ball Club maybe the Steelers just don't need to do that next up Dan Moore Jr look we can say what we want you all know how I feel about Dan Moore Jr I've been on his head for two years and rightfully so damn it I mean we've seen what he looks like but it looks like Dan Moore Jr has fought off challenges and he's going to be the starting left tackle now there's an injury involved let let's not kid ourselves and say that there's not an injury involved because there is but we're going to talk a little bit more about this Dan Moore Jr and whoever else may be trying to play the left tackle position but you got to say that Dan Moore Jr is a winner in training camp because he's going to come out of this with the starting left tackle job man that's gonna happen it's gonna happen Justin Fields is also a winner man he's played once the pads came on Justin Fields has been lights out now the preseason game number one I look the two drop snaps or fumbled snaps 50% are on him regardless that's bad it it's beyond bad it's despicable you cannot have it can't have it one is horrible two is Despicable and he had two so can't happen but he played well other than that you know people are getting oh he held the ball too long okay maybe on one play but he should have been six for six because Tomlin just didn't catch that sideline catch by Jefferson you know he played well in practice he's played well he's looked sharp uh Justin Fields again a winner in training camp also a winner because again an injury he got an opportunity and he went out there and he made the most of it so good for Justin fields and I'm still that that quarterback battle is still up for grabs people it is it is another winner pton Wilson yeah pton Wilson although it doesn't look like I'm going to get my wish and him starting next to Patrick Queen it doesn't look like I'm going to get that as of now but pton Wilson's been great he's been all over the field to get him at number 98 in the draft the best middle linebacker in the draft that's a steal uh he's shown athleticism he's been all around he's been around the football knows how to get there missed a couple of tackles in the preseason game but you kind of expect that out of a first year guy first NFL game ever okay he was there just missed the tackle that's a overrun plays okay that's fine we can fix that break down don't be so excited you know understand what you see just go make the play Everything doesn't have to be a killer hit if you get the guy on the ground that's just as good as blowing somebody up just stop them right where they are pton Wilson will start to do that and I think he's gonna start getting even more reps with the first unit as the season moves on but big winner and then lastly demarvin Leal yeah yeah we've talked about him a couple times and deservedly so he looked good in OTAs he looked good in mini camp he looked good in training camp he looked good in preseason game number one he has flashed the light has come on it appears that the light has come on um he looks to be in professional shape he's flying around you saw him run down plays from the backside not only in the pre-season but also in in training camp the guy is out there showing the promise that we saw when we drafted him three years ago in the third round he is showing that promise the Marvin Le is going to command some playing time and a lot of it this year if he continues to do that look for him and Larry oen jobi that's a battle Larry O's play good too though that's the thing Larry O's had a real good training camp as well but demarvin Le I think has a bigger upside he's younger and I think he may command more snaps we'll see as the season goes on but good for him for having the kind of training camp that he had had now as far as the losers are concerned number one in my book and we didn't rank the winners but and I'm not really ranking the losers but this is the first person that popped in my head was broadrick Jones now I know what people are gonna say Come on B give him a break he's hurt okay he's so hurt that he was playing into the third quarter of the first preseason game don't tell me how hurt he is that's a cop out he played Lous in that first preseason game and can he beat out Dan Mo we're going to talk about that later we'll talk about that later but broer Jones up to this point has been a disappointment now some of that you might say is the coaching staff is messing with him they won't put him at a position and just let him go play there's some validity to that absolutely at some point the coaching staff's got to stop and put guys where they need to be and just let him go play so hopefully that happens for brri Jones but as of now especially after that first preseason game he looked uninterested he had no punch he looked unathletic that is not what we're used to seeing out of him not what we're used to seeing out of all out of him at all it was bad it was bad got to be better against Buffalo gotta be better two Roman Wilson and look he's on here only because he got hurt and he basically missed training camp you know he looked good the first what was it three days four days first day of pads he gets hurt doesn't practice hasn't I mean just got out of walking boots and and splints and cast and sleeves all that stuff starting to put more weight on it and I think he's going to practice here in the next seven to 10 days and that's good but he's a loser because you got hurt and nobody's blaming him for being hurt it's not his fault but we've said it before and we'll say it again availability is the best ability and he wasn't available sorry so he's a loser especially this being his first training camp that's a problem that's a problem next up Troy fanu I say loser only for the simple fact that he it looks like he lost his starting job because they had him penciled in and we'll get into more of that later at right tackle and I'm not sure he's going to be ready for the season everything else that he did in training camp was good so maybe I'm being a little hard on him by saying he's been a loser out of training camp I'll backtrack off of that and just say because it looks like he's lost his job due to an injury that he's a loser but everything else fatano look really good he looked good quz Watkins uh we saw preseason game number one I will be thoroughly shocked if he is on this roster I thought he had a good chance not only because because gr Patterson never practiced he had done nothing in the off season quz Watkins we give him an opportunity punt returner the first one he doesn't catch or I take that back the first one he gives a fair catch there wasn't a guy within 15 yards of him and he calls a fair catch scared nervous whatever it is can't happen cannot happen the next one he catches and he tries to Willy mayze catch it and lo and behold the ball goes through his hands on a fumble the third one he doesn't catch it all gives up field position I'm sorry uh quz Watkin I I will be thoroughly shocked if he is on this roster come cutdown day I will be thoroughly shocked if he is because Cordell Patterson is back and whether you like him or not the guy is a possible Hall of Famer at kick returning if that's all he's going to do uh if if nothing else then I would put him back there before I put quz Watkins back there I'm sorry you could say it's just one game sometimes that's all you get man sometimes you get one opportunity one shot we've heard that before haven't we and he blew it I'm sorry I'm sorry next up Isaiah laudermilk he looked uninterested looked like he didn't have any power he's not going to be on this football team I'm sorry 53 man comes lder milk will be cut barring any injury he didn't look good good again he could turn it on in the preseason game number two and three and pass some people up possibly but I don't think that's gonna happen I don't I I think we've seen what lder milk can do um and unfortunately it didn't look like a whole lot so it may it might be a case where he is a uh get is waved on Cut Down day don't think he'll be part of the Pittsburgh Steelers but we'll talk about it and then bryndan foko uh yeah he's on IR so he's not going to be part of the Steelers this year it's too bad I think he had a shot to make the squad um but you get hurt and he's apparently he's hurt bad enough where they put him on the IR um unfortunately losers in training camp so those are the winners and losers in training camp leave your questions statements comments in the comments section let me know who you agree and disagree with let's move on people so why pre game number two is so "Important" Preseason Game important um look the first thing is is Russell and Russell Wilson and Justin Fields hasn't necessarily been decided yet now we all think that it's been decided um and maybe again they could be just given us coach speak but I I need to see Russell Wilson on the field do something you know something now if he comes out against Buffalo and he lights out then I think the competition's over because I don't think he's playing in preseason game number three I I just don't think that's I don't think either one of them actually are going to play in preseason game number three so this is it this is the opportunity I believe to go win the job this is the chance Mike Tomlin said it he takes things in stadium a lot more into account when evaluating someone than he does in practice well here's another opportunity inate for them to be able to do that we'll see what happens but I like I like that it's still a battle I like that it's still a battle so not sure who's G to win it uh and you all know me don't care who wins it but I want somebody effective that can run the offense the right way uh but I still think it's up for grabs I think it's up for grabs that's why I believe this preseason game is still super super important number two we got to establish the Run we didn't really establish the Run with our Frontline guys the other night we got to establish a little bit of a run I'm not saying that we got to come out and show you know our whole Playbook or anything like that running the football and what we're trying to do but at some point it's just man on man double team front side pull a guy around and and move somebody we got to be able to do that Arthur Smith's offense is terrible without it just flat out ass without being able to run the football so we got to be able to establish the run and again for formation groups motion all that kind of stuff to trick the defense we're not going to do a lot of that if any of it in the preseason and I'm okay with that but there's still going to be times where you just line up and you got to move somebody against their will we got to be able to do that got to do a much better job of that on the defensive side of the ball uh demarvin Lea who we talked about Ryan watts and beanie Bishop all need to continue to pop yeah they got a keep going they got to keep going look watts and Bishop are rookies they've shown enough that I think both are going to be on this team at this point but it's not over competition is not over for guys like that de Marvin Leo more than likely is going to be on this team he's trying to be a starter he's trying to get to show that number one hey man the first couple of years I get it I wasn't ready to be a pro now I'm ready to be a pro and I'm showing you that I'm ready to be a pro so yeah this is his a big opportunity again game number two continue to do the things that you've been doing just continue don't settle and rest on your laurels because as soon as you do that somebody something will happen and somebody's gonna pass you up and I think the all three of these guys are too talented to allow that to happen it's not that the Steelers won't won't pass them up for somebody because they will and and if they need to but I think these guys are Ultra talented they would prefer not to do that they would prefer to have those guys there so we'll see what happens then Zack Frasier's got to get more first team reps he look I'm sorry that we talked about the snaps and just and Fields you know Nate herig is just as responsible for those snaps so it just is what it is 50% 50% either way it's all horrible it's time for Zack Frasier to get in there he looked good he started getting more first team reps during practice this week he looked good in preseason game number one it's just time he's the better Center I mean let's just call it what it is he's the better Center not to mention it's his natural position herbig is is not his natural position he's a guard playing Center because the Steelers have him there it's time people it's time so and again we'll get into that a little bit more when we talk about the offensive line so get some clarity at wide receiver yeah yeah move on from Brandon iuk if we're not going to make the deal which it doesn't look like that deal is getting done it's time to get some clarity van Jefferson does he have the job I think so so here's the thing does a Scotty Miller make the cut he's familiar with author Smith's offense do you guys want a Scotty Miller that's a lot of slot receivers you know or guys of that size you know Calvin Austin or thei you know just I don't know I don't know if Scotty Miller makes the team uh I don't mind a Scotty Miller I think he's fine um but I'm not sure that he does even though he does have that Arthur Smith Smith's connection because he knows the offense would you guys be okay with that throw that in the comments you know if Scotty Miller was the fifth wide receiver on this football team would you guys be okay with that you know but we got to start getting some more clarity at wide receiver and again this is another preseason game to help do that now let's bring up the depth chart we'll just Steelers Almighty Depth Chart start talking about that and see where guys are as of right now so first things first on the offensive line left tackle um I let me just clarify this these are the guys that I want to be in these positions I don't think this is necessarily what the Steelers are going to do but this these are the the positions where I believe the guys are going to be if that makes sense so first up I got brri Jones as the starter Dan Moore Jr as the backup we're going to get into that a little bit later but that's what I want to see happen as of right now okay now starting at left guard so at left guard look it's Isaac amalu I mean that one's an easy one um and then Spencer Anderson looked good the other night Spencer Anderson is also very versatile can play a lot of different positions so he's going to make this team the Steelers like him uh he's the backup as of now at left guard we'll see wherever he can move around so we'll go from there center it's got to be Zack Frasier uh and we can put herbig behind him if we need to that's fine I mean he needs to be we got to have a backup center herbing can also play guard because that's his natural position but Zack Fraser needs to be the starter so again this is the Steelers Almighty depth chart as we see it needs to be as of now then look James Daniels uh at Right Guard Mason McCormick is behind him Mason McCormack looked good the other night too he looked good so I almost called him Mitch why do I want to call this guy Mitch people his name is not Mitch it's Mason and I keep wanting to say it well Mason JY Christmas I don't know it is what it is bottom line good backup I like him there as the backup Right Guard and then at right tackle Troy fanu yes gotta be the starter there now again the injury we're gonna see we we're gonna see exactly what happens Dylan cook isn't gonna start in his place it'll be brri Jones but Dylan cook is there I think he's got a good shot to make this team even though technically it looks like brri Jones is actually the swing tackle which is wild to me that your starting left tackle would be your swing tackle but whatever that's what it is as of this moment so moving on we got the tight end position I don't think that's up for grabs I mean look it's Pat fouth Darnell Washington and then Conor Hayward that simple I think those three guys are going to make the roster a lock obviously farmouth and Washington I think all three are just an absolute lock to make on the roster I don't even think there's any debate on that whatsoever at quarterback I mean I'm gonna go ahead and say Russell Wilson wins the job fields behind him Kyle Allen at number three I still want to see the competition continue to goow on but as of right this second that's the order is Wilson Fields Allen in that order running back Naji Harris Jaylen Warren and I like Edwards a lot of people don't like him I like him yeah buddy absolutely I like him so dwan Edwards yes yes I like him to be the number three running back um look it's going to be a battle he's gonna have to do some stuff on special teams but I think he's capable of doing that I like him to be the number three running back now let's move to fullback look Jack coletto uh just blowing people out of the way look we haven't had a fullback or we didn't have one last year even when Derek watt was here we didn't always use him in that capacity the Steelers are going to use him a lot uh 21 22 23 Personnel even some 20 personnel which is a little odd sometimes uh but yeah we're going to use a fullback to do things that fullbacks do I like him being on this roster the guy is an animal and we've seen it all training camp we've seen it we've seen him doing his thing so good for him man look wide receiver one is is pick obviously do we need to go make a trade for somebody else no pickings is the wide receiver number one now behind him that's where I've got Roman Wilson because I think by by week one I think Roman Wilson will be back and that's where it comes in I got Scotty Miller behind him it comes in okay does Scotty Miller make the team yeah I probably I think right as of right now I think he does I think he does so I like Scotty Miller there uh behind Roman Wilson at the other wide receiver SP starting spot I got van Jefferson as of right now now as the season goes on maybe Roman Wilson could end up getting that job because I think he was tracking to get that job before the ankle injury I think he was tracking to get it but as of now van Jefferson the starter Calvin Austin the third coming in behind him so that's how I see the offensive uh depth chart right now again this is a a Steelers Almighty depth chart as we see it as we see it now let's flip over to defense what do we have on the defense of side first up at nose tackle we've got keano Benton yeah yeah keano Benton uh I think Keo Benton is going to be the difference to this defense Mart travius Adams is a backup looked good the other night has basically looked good since he got here so let's not kid ourselves I think the guy again if need if Benton needs to move over to one of the other spots in a three four or whatever the alignment is Adams a w of backup has played well can fill in it's a solid position for the Steelers right now very very solid Left End Larry Oaken Joby looking good there were questions about him there were questions about you know what basically after what we saw last year is like okay we got to have something from lario well we've gotten something so far in from Larry O so good for him Dean Lowry behind him been hurt but I think Dean Lowry's a player M matter of fact I know he's a player because I think he could have gone some other places and maybe started uh on other teams at a defensive tackle position so having Dean Lowry as a backup is Big a right defensive end cam Hayward again we run a three four set cam Hayward um gigant we we know what cam Hayward is we know what he means to this organization it is what it is we I mean we love cam Hayward there's just no ways around it need to have him to have a good year though we need to have him have a good year this year and then demarvin Lea we've talked about it earlier incredible Camp so far the light switch looks like that is flipped on for him the light switch looks like that it is flipped on for him left outside linebacker I mean TJ watt that kind of goes without saying and then Johnson kir johnon son has played well looks like he's played his way into a backup role like we thought it was going to go to Marcus gold golden but he retired um and again I love what Mike Tomlin had to say about Marcus golden football's tough if you're not 100% Allin he probably made the right decision and it didn't he came into camp and he thought you know what this just isn't for me or maybe he didn't even want to go through camp and maybe he's like weak four or five call me back and maybe I'll come back then and maybe that's it but either way Kyra Johnson I think has worked his into that position uh right outside linebacker Alex High Smith we know what he brings to the table uh and then Nick herbig playing well playing well uh had a big pressure on CJ strad in preseason game number one I expect big things out of him this season man I just do I think the Steelers are going to mix and match and do a lot of different stuff and obvious passing Downs where they can get Watt heith and herig all on the field at the same time if they can or if they do it can cause problems for teams it really really can cause problems for teams so next up look left end or um in the inside linebacker Patrick Queen and then Mark Robinson behind him we know what Patrick Queen brings to the table second Team all pro last year um young athletic fast and plays with an attitude and it seems like he's also playing with the chip on his shoulder a lot of people aren't saying that he's as good saying that everything that he did was because of roquan Smith well now he gets his opportunity I love that for him good for him man right outside or inside linebacker I tried to talk it into existence even though the majority of you guys told me I was nuts it looks like you guys are right that EOB is going to end up winning that battle over pton Wilson I will say this pyton Wilson is gonna get reps and it's not just going to be an obvious passing Downs okay he's going to get some reps on rundowns his upside is just better than Robinson it is and I know Robinson's a tackler or not Robinson Roberts I apologize Roberts I know he's a tackler I get it he is a great tackler but I just think Wilson can be better and will be better now he's got to show it he's got to go do it but I think that he's going to be better I really really do so quarterback number one Joey Porter Jr great year last year got to be a little less handsy he's a little handsy out there but he can work on that and then Bey Bishop now Gran it I know beanie bishop and granin Arnold are playing slot corner and battling out for slot Corner uh but we're just doing the base defense here so we'll put them those two behind Joey Porter Jr and basically Arnold and Bishop right now it looks like they're in a battle for that starting slot Corner Spot we thought Bishop was playing well all of a sudden we get to practice this week and Arnold has taken most of the Reps there you don't know if Mike Tomlin saw something or the defense saw something or if they're trying to send a meage message to see how Bishop you know responds to I don't know some adversity hey we're taking this job away from you are you going to crumble or you going to fight back and I think Bey Bishop may just fight back but we'll see we'll see what happens other starting quarterback position Dante Jackson's look really good he he just he's looked good he's a little banged up right now but he'll be healthy it's nothing serious he'll be back Corey Trice Jr yeah Cory T Jr has looked good people he has he's figured some stuff out he's trusting his knee he always had the talent it's his health that's always been the problem well he's healthy and he's trusting it the Steelers have given an opportunity since Jackson has been out and he's looked good he's look good as the starting corner so we have his the backup Anthony aett we'll see what he can do if he can if he can push for that backup spot I think he's gonna make the roster I think he will um but right now he's at number three he's at number three behind Jackson and tce at that position strong safety desun Elliott a little banged up but deshun Elliott has done his thing we know what desun Elliott can be uh he's looked good in training camp by the way he's looked good in training camp my man Ryan Watts I talked that into existence he's is the backup there as of now look miles ker Brew is special teams guy we know what kbu is he's a special teams guy watts is a better safety than he's going to be I like him being out there and then at free safety look we're getting ma back to doing the things that Ma does best I love it uh good it's a big year for him though you know after having a little bit of a not a little bit it was a down year it was injured but it was a down year for for M Fitzpatrick last year Big Year big bounceback year for him and then Damonte KZ a lot of people said that he is a guy that could get traded on Cut Down they or absolutely cut now I don't think that that's going to happen but it could it kind of depends on what happens with our man Ryan Watts so we'll see what happens there but that is the death chart as Steelers allmighty sees it on the offense and the defensive side people um like I said I think this preseason game is very very important so let's let's move on here so the Steelers settle on an offensive line yeah they got to settle on an offensive line enough is enough uh brri Jones being the swing tackle although he played bad the other night he's got to start playing better and yeah it just at some point we just gota he's got to step up he's got to step up and maybe that's the reason could it possibly be possibly be excuse me that Dan Dan Moore has shown to be as good a left tackle as broadrick Jones is that possible I mean really is it possible because if that's the case oh I mean that's that's not good news people that's not good news but Broger Jones has got to step up he's got to separate himself he's got to do so much to say hey guys enough I'm I'm the left tackle stop with all this shuffling back and forth I am the left tackle and maybe that's the reason why the Steelers are doing what they're doing is because maybe he hasn't shown enough that he can be the left tackle maybe Dan Moore has shown more I don't know but what I do know is is that I think Roger Jones has to be the left tackle of the future and it's time is now the time is now start putting it together and be better don't give me the elbow thing because if his elbow was that hurt there's no way he's playing into the third quarter at right tackle in the first preseason game so let's not let this elbow thing be an excuse we're not going to let that be an excuse we're just not so that's my thing is Jones actually a better left tackle I would hope that he is but if he's not we're in trouble Frasier needs to see more time at Center he needs to be the center not just more time he needs to be the starting center okay there's no more ifans or butts I don't want to talk about it anymore he looks better than herbig he played better than herbig he's more technically sound than herbig it's his natural pos position where it's not her Big's natural position it's just time for Zack Frasier to take over the Reigns we've dilly-dallied around long enough it's time for Frasier to be the starting center end of story end of story story I don't want to hear anything else about it quite frankly because it's starting to it's it's the cohesion we always talk about cohesion with the offensive line well how do you get that if the guys that are going to be in these positions and that are the best players in those positions aren't getting the Reps it's time that they start getting the Reps at those positions Frasier needs to be put into the lineup immediately immediately so now fanu is a different story now here's the thing about Troy fanu it looks like that he had earned the right tackle starting job and reports have come out is that when he's back and healthy he is the starting right tackle that's the word on the street yeah he struggled a little bit in preseason game one in pass protection um and we'll get to the pass protection for the entire offensive line here in a quick second but in run blocking he did not struggle he got after it was aggressive I he's the right that's the reports that Troy fatano has won the starting right tackle job so when he's ready to go he's in implemented into that position good he needs to be Roger Jones you got to step up though on the other side but Troy fatano as a rookie he's shown enough apparently to have earned himself a job so look for that to happen once he is back in ready to get on the field look for fanu to be your starting right tackle is that now is it game three of the season I don't know but when he's ready he supposedly is the starting right tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers now let's get into some of this pass protection stuff man um yeah didn't look great didn't look great um first off they got to be more physical you got to be more physical and pass Pro uh we've seen it the first snap of the game somebody argued with me at preseason game number one they thought oh man it was checkdown I was like it wasn't a checkdown I go brri Jones just got gave up a short corner and got whipped and I go now the play was a screen is what the actual play was but he's got to be better we got to be more physical at the point of attack I'm not saying to be aggressive it's the last thing an offensive lineman needs to do is be aggressive in pass protection but that doesn't mean you can't be physical punch at the point of attack you got to be able to do that and we struggled we got to be a more physical offensive line got to be more physical you know get out in space you see here get out in space and hit somebody get in the way be an athlete out there that's the key to all of this so we'll see what happens moving forward but we had we had a lot of quarterback pressures in that first game that I don't think needed to be there lot of quarterback pressures we got to clean up lot that we got to clean up so let's go to our first poll question let's go to the poll so poll question what tackle combo do you want to see start week one versus the Atlanta Falcons first you got uh brri Jones at left tackle Dan Moore at right now that's the one that's never going to happen because Dan Moore I don't want to play R tackle I can't play R tackle so if you put that Together We very well might see that third left tackle is Jones right tackle fianu I think that's the best one I think that's the one that we need to see um but we'll see we will see and then last Brandon iuk Saga has drugg on and on and on on at some point the Steelers again I I said this on a live Steelers got to stop being the side piece man we got to stop being the SES we've agreed to a deal now he's just got to decide if they want to if he wants to come play for us and then the 49ers got to decide if they just want to pull the trigger well hold on why are we agreeing to that like I said the Steelers have been the side piece in this from the beginning I don't like it let's get out of it let's say the deal doesn't go through are you guys opposed to Bringing guj gu back what do you think now here are a couple of things about guj gu first of all he's a Super Bowl champion with the Chiefs and when he was with the Chiefs he actually played well uh he did he was the leading receiver receiver I Know Travis Kelce LED in receiving everything there but guju was the actual best rece wide receiver that they had and he was not a good year last year at New England I I'll admit that looks like the injury bug has caught up with them so we'll see that's another thing is is is gu gu healthy you know can he play or is at knee is it completely shot because if it is then the answer to can he help is we've got our answer but if he can play then yeah let's see him play let let let's see if what he can do to help us you know the reports are is that the door is is open if Juju wants to come in now remember he's still getting some guaranteed money from New England Steelers can bring him in and we won't owe him anything guaranteed so if he can't make the roster he can't make the roster so we're out nothing to bring him in and see what he's got literally out nothing now if he can then hey he helps he can help I'm not saying that gu guu is some great uh he's a decent route Runner but he's not a great guy that's gonna separate and do all of that stuff he never was that guy you know but what he can do is make contested catches he can play physical his body type he can absolutely block he is a big will a big blocker and a willing blocker from the wide receiver position he will make tough catches in the middle of the field okay did I mean you can look at this right here and see that's what he's done now that's a few years back I understand it's a few years back um and like I that KN may not be what we think it is and if it isn't then okay if he can't play then we can't keep him I totally understand all that but jujo if he if he's able to help us I you got to bring him in physical receiver that can play some good football you got to bring him in you just got to do that so and see what he's got if this iuk trade doesn't go through then yeah bring him in see what he's got so and here's the last thing about gu guu you bring him in obviously he's familiar with the organization but is he better than van Jefferson is he better than Calvin Austin the third is he better than Scotty Miller those are questions that you got to ask yourself if you decide to bring Juju Smith Schuster in and if he does but is he better than those guys I don't know again I think it all kind of depends on the health of that knee but if it's healthy I think he's got a place here I do I think he's got a place here if healthy if not okay it is what it is but I think he's got a shot I really do now whether you think he's better than those guys or not he plays a little bit different position than Calvin Austin and Scotty Miller because they're always going to be on the inside but you could use ju guu as an inside guy too he can run a lot out of the slot and be a big slot receiver a lot of teams do that and you know Arthur Smith offense would love to have a big slot receiver so if he can help us yeah yeah I think it's a good idea but either way we're going to ask you guys because we got another poll question that we're going to bring up so let's bring up the poll question if Brandon iuk trade never happens would you like to see see the Steelers bring Juju back for depth at wide receiver because he's not going to come back and be a starter so the the the illusion that maybe you hey Brian there's no way this guy's GNA be a St I'm not saying that but if you brought him back for depth would you be okay with bringing back gu guu for depth if the iuk trade does not go through please leave all your questions and comment or comments in the comments section so look the Steelers roster and the depth chart Wrap Up is starting to take shape uh yeah don't get too comfortable if your guys that are friends roster guys because these two last two preseason games mean a lot they mean a lot for guys like that not to mention there's going to be other guys that get cut on other teams after cut down day or on Cut Down Day that are going to be available and the Steelers May grab two or three of those guys so continue those guys got to continue to work they got to continue to solidify their spot on this roster so that that doesn't happen to them that they are not a cut casualty because look it's starting to get to the nitty-gritty it really is it's starting to get to that time where we got to start making some decisions on on real dep dep chart stuff and the Steelers are usually pretty good about that doing it earlier or sooner than later I think this week kind of separates from the the rest of the week big preseason week coming up for the Steelers
