FULL MATCH | England U21 7-0 Luxembourg U21 | UEFA EURO U21 Qualification | Group F | England

England and a man who has worn this England Jersey so many times at so many levels alongside me tonight it's England International un leester City Defender Connor Cody Connor great to see you what are you expecting from this one tonight uh first and foremost thanks for having me James it's it's a pleasure to be here and to to watch the England under 21's playlist and we know the talent that they have we we said before the game about we just seem to be talking about the talent that comes year on year with this England under 21 team and Le Lee Cari done a fantastic job and I'm hoping it's going to be a fantastic game and loads and loads of goals for England that will certainly be the expectation especially after all the goals they've amassed so far 25 in just six games and it's really an embarrassment of riches F Carley at the moment yeah and we said that before the game we said it we we seem to be talking year on year about the talent that comes through our country and the talent our country produces and we're seeing it again tonight and the changes that Lee Carley makes the the players who come in they're just exciting players to watch even looking at Players making the debut AR gray being 18 and coming into the team after a fantastic season with Le this year who and he scored on his debut the so really really exciting and something I'm looking forward to Jasper vut of Belgium is the referee for this one this evening his second match of these qualifiers he did Estonia against Bulgaria back in September well Lee carsley was speaking yesterday just about how dry the pitch was Altin Baku says that they trained when it was wet but the homide decided not to water it on Match day but they have their own conditions here tonight at Bolton and we are underway a big crowds here at the home of Bolton wonders it's great to have you wherever you're watching from tonight we understand this is being beam live to wemble those of you who are on the concourses sorry ahead of the friendly against Belgium later this evening hopefully we can bring you some goals before some entertainment at the National Stadium as well there's Taylor Harwood Bellis to non [Applause] M interesting to see how this side line up certainly looking at the numbers and the names in the 11 it's a very attack-minded side it is James it is a big player for England we mentioned before the game already he have ellot turn I went and watched the game actually at goodison Park when he played against Northern Island a few months ago maybe an early chance here as well into the box already touched away and fired over on the rebound by non madw a chance inside 50 seconds for the Young Lions brilliant brilliant brilliant play and again we mentioned about it being an attacking team and that's what we want from England Bodies In The Box players in the Box attacking the goal and chances on goal and I was going back to Harvey Elliott there I watched him play a few months ago and he really really does make everything sick with this England team England corner to be taken here by Alex Scott making his first start tonight big opportunity for the Bournemouth man mcy nice reverse to Elliot is someone going to get on the end of it they are over by illing Jr two opportunities for England and maybe a sign of things to come I think so I think so Jame the movement of har the Elliott and be the way to the pass from M and and obviously the movement of illan Junior as well I think he'll be disappointed with the chance that he had I think he'll be expecting to hit the target and score there it's a real real good chance forland just shows how attacking this England side is with saming JR a flying Winger playing at left back as well it does yet but let's be honest they're fantastic players and they'll all want to be be enjoying thems going forward with the ball tonight and and he'll be no different either out here for Tim flick many of this Luxembourg side do play in their Homeland but a spring C across Mainland Europe as well the likes of Germany France Austria represented in this starting 11 NES there from Jerel quansa comes into the side tonight of course a regular in the Liverpool side at the moment Scott helps it wide looking for the run there of J Baro [Applause] gens bissio Dortmund wi who's played plenty of times for them this season only 19 but 23 appearances dvad skelin in all competitions here's Elliot slight Mudge there but the referee happy the play to continue Elliot has stayed down here have an issue and the referee stopping play yeah it was a little bit naughty James a little bit of a late one left on him there on on Harvey Elliot and there need somebody England don't want to lose at any point we're hoping and we we think he'll be all right but yeah I think the first 5 minutes of the game that that that we're approaching now I think we can see how the game's going to go I think it's a big thing for me is when I'm watching the game of football is where England Center halfs are going to place themselves and you look now they're already 10 15 yards inside the opposition half so a lot of the ball will be for England tonight I think and aren't you great I'm sure be pushing into Midfield as well yeah we see a lot you can see it now it's it's something that we see a lot within football these days of a fullback going into Midfield he knows how to play there he does it a lot for leads as well but you look at his position now just in between the lines of the ls and big team mcy key creative force on Friday retains his place tonight mad a scorer on Friday Gua England moving the ball with Pace Gins just stopped there by em Kus who comes into the side tonight the Kaiser slon right back taken by illing junor work it back out Scott into mcy still moving the ball here Scott barely getting a touch at the moment M take on his man at the moment back as far as as Harwood Bellis gives it away misplaced pass for England inside the opening 5 minutes here turn for James Rodriguez Good interception there by Jay Stansfield helping out on defensive Duty it's Elliot a touch which sets up this attack for England still Elliots keeping this Tempo [Applause] up a game of Concentration for Luxembourg at the moment it is yeah and listen I've played this formation a lot in me career and you've got to be so so disciplined when it comes to playing it in your 541 and when you get the opportunity you've got to take it as much as you can when it comes to counter attacking matter where K Howard Bellis gray it's a very windy evening here at Bolton moving across the pitch from right to left as we sit up here high in the main stand Quan MTI looking for that run there from Stansfield the goalkeeper came off his line very quickly there shy valer that's something Jay Stanfield does so well James honestly he's we played against him again a couple of times this year for Binger he's non-stop he's a striker who's constantly constantly chasing you down running him behind coming to feet we've seen it before chasing back and winning the ball and starting attack for England he he's a real real good asset when he's running him behind like that yeah big chance for him tonight he was an unus substitute on Friday Liam deap one of the other 21 Center forwards out injured at the moment he probably the weakest area or the lowest in numbers at least in the squad that leey has picked that was a tough tackle there from Ivan angaro no further punishment but the referee asserting himself on this game wented a bit hard there I was just about to say yeah I don't think that was a foul I think that's where we're at in football these days in terms of 50/50s especially when you go into kind of European competition as well so yeah I actually didn't think that was a foul but they it's good for England and England are back on the ball illing Junior and he's really made his breakthrough into the uvea first team in the last couple of years madek space starting to open up for him CH man couldn't quite control back out as far as gray and Elliot who takes a safe option and goes all the way back here to San tick he might not be having too many touches tonight qu course he's developing all the time at the moment isn't he as well and Jurgen klopp and playing alongside someone like Virgil Van djk Well I was just going to say he's first and foremost I think he's a brilliant brilliant footballer he's learning from the best L him playing playing next to Virgil Van D the center back that he is and how demanding he is he's learing from the best and listen he's done fantastic this year he's a player who's played 25 appearances in all competitions and the experience he's got playing next to Van D is brilliant and you can see him he's calm on the ball he's aggressive when he needs to Wi and he can dictate play from the back as well Elliot almost all of the play inside the Luxembourg half here 87% possession at the latest count he's looking for the return there but m not quite on the same wavelength I think what's interesting for England James is I think you can see when Archie gray comes out wide mada's inside and it's vice versa the RO really well when mada's outside Arch Gray's inside I think they're doing it really well and it looks like it's something that England have wed on just to try and break down his back five cuz I can't tell you how hard it is when you're playing against the back five that are disciplined and organized how how hard it is to break them down and this start again Gray quansa G who receives illing J had gone on past [Music] him right to Harvard Bellis the catcher M Elliot the deeper position this time illing Jor gtins lovely turn of pace from him able to hold the ball as well in that tight area going for the return here's [Applause] mcy quite happen for England there eventually Luxembourg able to clear it's going to be a night of Bravery here for England I think so and patience I think bravery patience I think working the ball side to side I think trying to find the spaces and getting the creative players on the ball and listen we can speak about a lot of creative players in this England team but I think it's important it's patience and we said before the game Jam when we speaking about it one goal and it makes all the difference them looks and be have got to come out a little bit but moving the ball side to side as patient as he possibly can and I think the goal will come at some point MTI carrying it a long way here and it may have hit the foot of the post there certainly took a deflection behind for a corner again again great play moving the ball side to side and then Mak committing his defend you can see how he just stands him up and just slows him down and gets that position maybe when you get there can you P pull the ball back a little bit but another good opportunity for England and getting in the right places so England here with a setpiece opportunity from the other side this time will be taken here by Alex Scott of Bournemouth had his injury issues this season but getting back to his best now plenty of bend on that Elliot looping ball into illing Jr wenberg trying to break out here on the counter and have that ball been better they might have had a chance as well it breaks down as the ball was heading in the direction of James Rodriguez that's what good teams do James they do they set up right to stop the Counterattack to to squash it as much as they can cuz like I said this looks on B team will be they they'll be playing on counterattacks that's what they'll be wanting it was a great position for March gray and and England back on the ball again M may he just hasn't have the confidence to go past his man just yet Scott good pick out Junior who's drifted all the way over from left back just shows the license and freedom he has tonight given away by Fabio [Applause] Lo bouncing there off the chest of Ryan bber he WIS a free kick and a chance for Luxenberg just to catch their breath after a frantic 11 and 1/2 minutes of defensive Play looh Good feat looking there for the Run of Ivan angaro who just checked inside he was hoping he's going to go long it's good play from lburg it's unlucky to be fair to be playing into the channel like that and finding the way in there but like I said it's important to try and make the most of them opportunities but going back to England it's Stanfield working back to win the ball back that's so important from a striker to be able to do Carley hoping for more of the same after a goal filled game on Friday certainly a much more partisan atmosphere for his side tonight looking for a fourth successive Victory they have scored 11 goals in their last three games their last home game a 3-0 win against Northern Ireland at goodison Park back at the end of November in the goals St day with Liverpool Connections in Tyler Morton and Harvey Elliot all they can do is keep putting that pressure on Ukraine but a big gap after today the next qualifiers aren't slated until September when England will travel over to Northern Ireland to play the return fixed England have already played Luxembourg once in this group they won 3-0 away from home leap Callum Doyle and K Palmer all on the score sheet brilliant to see Callum Doyle on the score sheet playing with him at last there I was I was hoping he might get a little bit of a sniff tonight as well this England side carrying on without him it's cut back here to maky couldn't quite make the connection they taken away from him brilliant play and and that cross was what we were what we were wanting before and I mentioned about Mak getting into that position as well it's important for him when they get in there Ju Just to make the most of that final pass into the box Elliot crunching Challenge on him and the referee reaching for a card and it will be a yellow here Miguel gonalves it is who's gone into the book and some of the England players certainly taking issue with him that's a couple now James is there we seen one in front of us which I said at the time I thought it was a strong tackle I didn't really think it was probably on the edge but I thought that one was a foul he come off off the ground with both feet and he's left one in on on Harvey Elliott there I think as you watch it coming in now he just leaves the ground it's a strong tackle but I think this day and aged is a foul yeah is that a Martin Keon reducer as it's called it's a reducer I think you can call it that yes certainly I think ja Elliot certainly felt it but I think that's what LS and beer are trying to do they're trying to enforce themselves onto the game a little bit but listen it's it's good play from England again and there's a good position for England now to to go and here looks on bation that yellow card for Captain Miguel gon salz of dud launch tell you what when you're play in that position you don't need a yellow card Al on you don't you you last man a lot of the time so so to get a yellow card he's walking on th night now really I've been in that position a lot and it's hard when you're on a book and it really is Elliots and Scott standing over this then have some height Harwood Bellis and Quan standing together in the edge of the area here have they got something a bit different to unlock this Luxembourg side Elliots into [Applause] quansa it was spinning it was curling inside just not enough in the end I thought it was actually going to spin off the tap and into the corner James I really did I think from where we were we were right behind it's a brilliant chance for quand I actually think he should score but a brilliant ball in from we mentioned him a lot already tonight but lovely it was the right idea back across goal back across the keeper and into the far corner and really really unlucky I think it' be disappointed with it the chances continue to rack up here England have had all four attempts in the game so far Oxenberg have had very little but nothing so far don't think they've even got near the penalty area in the opening 15 [Music] minutes Al Bellis plenty of these players involved in a promotion push as well this year the likes of Archie gray down there with Leeds har Bellis in Southampton Candor you mentioned at Leicester as well so many players who've been having fantastic campaigns all here looking for Stansfield but it's shy Vier who gets there I think it goes to show how important the football league is James I really do I think these players are having brilliant seasons in the in the football league in the championship obviously at the top of the championship where it's ever so close and wearing massive part of it at the minute so yeah plays are doing brilliantly well and and getting recognized for the country for it qua Howard Bellis running cap number 23 tonight for the under 21s some way to go before James Milner's record of 46 M has the pace to go past looh here mad just taken away off the head there of agostinelli back here now with n sh valer with a high one forward probably doesn't carry it as he would have liked L will start again here with mon gray power slide there from Harvey Elliot in the end but not a goal celebration for him yet M Elliot just losing some of that Tempo they had in the early stages just have to keep winning with Ukraine having want every match above them in the group at the moment it's worth pointing out that the three best second place sides across the whole of Euro qualification will go through as well looking good for that particular stat at the moment but they can't leave anything to [Applause] chance I think it's important James England just keep being patient here I really do I just think they keep being patient keep moving the ball I think we've seen when the ball goes wide and and England's Wingers can stand up the fullbacks and get into the box and try and pull it back it's it's a great way of trying to get in behind the the looks and big defense and we've seen it a few times now so just keep being patient keep moving the ball as much as you can and the opportunity will come Elliot looking for Mad his pace and strength get in there not quite see it it it's times like that from har listen fantastic football I just don't think he has to force it I just think he's forcing a little bit in behind playing with a back five it's so hard them balls over the top because looks and big always have cover they'll always have people running behind so I just think them little moment there just a little bit of frustration playing the ball in behind just stay patient stay on the ball and keep moving the ball side to side and the opportunity will come a stadium here as well Connor that has happy memories for you from a few years back I'm happy You' mentioned it I thought you weren't going to mention it James to be honestly no brilliant I we obviously went up from the championship with Wolves when we when we finished his Champions and I managed to score down down the far end over there yeah I think that was your only goal for the season wasn't it I didn't want you to mention that bit of balance thanks for that mate yeah no it was a good it was a good year that one it was a great year yeah it's a good stadium for me yeah but a good crowd here tonight as well especially considering that the senior team are du to kickoff against Belgium at Wembley very shortly brilliant and listen people want to see people want to see England teams and and top players going to play football for the country and listen that's what we're seeing tonight Scott Elliott Howard Bellis Elliot going have the quality to pick holes in this this Luxembourg backline just waiting for the moment quansa Scott Gray looks and B are actually quite disciplined at the minute they're actually doing really well they're Shuffling from side to side you see the big number nine who dropping all the way back in just to be compact the space from the back five to the striker must be about 15 20 yards and it's a good position for them for them to be in nice pick out Stansfield who finds mad still non mad and still stinging The Palms and no more unlucky good play good play getting on the half turn and moving his body manipulating the ball to to get a shot of and again that's just what England need to do don't get frustrated with themselves don't start playing needless passes over the top just keep moving the ball finding them gaps inside as much as they can and finding them creative plays in between the lines the chances will come on Match Day minus one when you know you're going to play a side with a low block and very disciplined backline what especially are you working on attack V defense similar to what we're seeing here that's what it seems like we as a professional football and train you do a lot of attack for your defense with with overloads and and trying to attack the goal and listen that's what England would have been doing but we see that there's little things that the worked on I've mentioned a few times with madai going inside and gray being wide and gray being inside and just trying to have an overload in Midfield and that have done a lot of that and like I said it just patience just stay with the ball and keep moving and enjoy having the ball Howard Bellis Elliot Stanfield Buran man couldn't hold it Scott has recycled it illing Jor going to take on all before him that's three gone past now towards madek Away by Fabio Lo Scott standfield doesn't quite run there for madek nor Boo gtins and Luxembourg the S of relief once again we see there with Luxenberg James how many bod just at that little chance there where where Alex Scott plays into the box so many bodies around the ball England's opportunities at the minute have come where where where England have got to the by line and and pulled it back or stood the ball up I think that's a big opportunity for England trying to go through the centers tough at [Music] times erus flick lenberg having a sustained period on the ball here but they might have been caught out Scott Mada wants it to his right here is non madw oh wonderful goal he made it look so easy a what a fantastic fantastic finish that was from non madai absolutely BR to you know how hard hard it is for a goalkeeper when a ball goes through a defender's legs honestly every goalkeeper will tell you the same thing it's nearon impossible to make a save when the ball goes through the leg his first touch and all in one motion to roll it into the corner we'll see it now great pass from Alex Scott one touch and threw the defender's legs and into the bottom corner brilliant brilliant goal and the goal England needed just for this game to maybe maybe open up a little bit and hopefully a few more goals madek with his fourth goal in six matches his fifth overall in this qualification campaign and just what England needed So Graceful with that touch as well didn't even need the power ah James only finishers and goal scorers know how to score goals like that honestly you could put me in front of goal like that and you would never get a finish like that absolutely brilliant it was like poetry motion right across his body and rolls it into the bottom corner the keeper had absolutely no chance brilliant brilliant bowler and England finally get their reward for their dominance and pressure inside the opening 2 4 minutes here at the tough sheet Stadium But Here Come Luxenberg set them back as angaro lets it slip here he's again [Music] angaro to Mavis has that yellow card against his name the goalkeeper taking a risk sh V got the away in in the end to Lo England though keeping the pressure up and a touch there by Archie gray takes it out good Defender from England but looks and be are trying to play when they get the opportunity to play they're trying to play and you seen they would have switch to play how important Wing backs can be and I mentioned before the game how important it is for a back five team and they're huge for them when it when it comes to going forward Conor K got Ashley Cole as well part of the back room staff here how inspirational would that be to see such an England Great among the staff coaching you incredible incredible I work with Ash last year at Everton when Frank low was manager what a man he is he's absolutely brilliant honestly I love him to bit and he's just been inducted into obviously the the Hall of Fame for the premier league as well which is Thoroughly deserved but I think for these young England players looking at someone like him and the Caps he's gotten the sort of player he was it's it's really really inspiration he's a real real top guy there's James mcy Gray he's a central midfielder by trade but have spent the whole season for leads at right back certainly on the team Sheet would have occupied a few different positions going for to Ellen Road he's done brilliant for lead James he really has like I said we played against him a couple of times this year he's disciplined I think he understands the game a lot I think that's why he can play in different positions I think by trade he'll probably say he wants to play Central Midfield but just to understand that role at right back and as we see now a lot of teams playing with right BS going inside I think it's something he can do as well he's been in the program quite a while now he was an unused substitute in the Premier League at the age of just 15 of course his dad Andy a former Striker Eddie as well high up in the leads hierarchy of greats hasn't look out of place here at all tonight so far Maki mad the goal scorer n mad what's he going to do here win a corner brilliant from England the fluidity from England I think the way they all understand how the how each other plays Alex Scott now getting getting the ball in between the lines ja Elliott dropping between the two center backs and getting the ball and playing through playing between the lines I think he's brilliant brilliant play Elliot wi to throw Elliot Chelsea to Liverpool lipol back to leads Elliots trying to find his yard might have done as well gets and illing J both in there here is the latter was unfortunate in the end I think it's important in the stage of the game that we're in now for for England not to think it's too easy I think looking at the game at the minute I think a lot of people will be watching this game going it's a little bit easy for England England has to be ruthless now go and get a couple more goals go and really kill the game off before halftime if you can cuz the game's there L we've seen the goal that's come we can see the goal now the Finish like we talked about before but I just think there's an opportunity for to go and kill a game and then and then enjoy the rest of it then back with SH Vier there by Rodriguez just finds Lo but here's madw Scott brently kills that one into the path here of gray Elliot [Applause] qua B gtins Howard Bellis gray Elliot Pops that one there for mcy the goalkeeper so very close to being an own goal as well off the body of Fran CA England have another Corner ah top play top play coming through RV Elliot again a little flick over the top for makc a brilliant running behind something that you need against the back five when they're all facing the ball and a great running behind I'm really really unlucky it's a great opportunity for England just couldn't quite get the purchase on that little lift over the goalkeeper there Mak follow it up with this corner from Elliot sh Vier gets two firm hands on it m with a fine takedown desire there from bog gtins who's away can he Supply just too high brilliant reaction to the Los loss of the ball here that's what England need that's how the face goal came winning the ball high up the pitch and and having opportunities to play him behind and I think that's what they need great little bit of skill there for from the nor T watch yeah Ryan B has scored once in this qualification campaign so far in fact he's one of just two players along with James Rodriguez to have found the net up until now they haven't had a great run they haven't been having a great time overall they've only ever won eight qualifiers in the country's history first going back in 1986 the last against Northern Ireland in September that was the first since 2020 [Applause] looh cner salvisberg were looking all right there for a second but they've lost it now and the referee sees the foul but plays Advantage high ball looking for Elliot who's offside you were talking about England being really fluid as well Connor can we just give a moment of appreciation for this pitch as well because for League one side coming into April it's in fine condition brilliant brilliant and it's a brilliant Club both and wonders I've I've had plenty of games against him in the past brilliant supporters a real real good football club and it's a fantastic pitch for for the lads to go and play on yeah having a great campaign in League one at the moment are Bolton under Ian Evert here har Bellis setting out here for England gr darts inside as madaki receives still MW bounces off gray who recovers it too tight for him Lo then glaro looking for that run of Lo ahead of him Maki Poes the ball but conceives the throw yeah I think it goes back to what we were saying before James just Ju Just forcing the ball a little bit in the corner there and I think it's important players like Harwood Bellis the experienced players on the pitch who who've got a lot of caps on the 21 level just keep on saying to the boys keep being patient keep moving the ball let's not make it too easy let's just keep moving it that that second goal is massively important and I think it'll come nice movement here by Luxenberg Favio Lo he plays for mess in France he's already won two caps at senior [Applause] level Scott so having to start again tickle gets his opportunity tonight but it's a weird one for a goalkeeper isn't it you don't want to concede but you want to be involved in some respect I was just about to say this will probably be the easiest debut he'll ever have in his life I think in terms of just a way I that was his second touch or a fair touch then that he just had and like you said you want to be involved but I think coming in for your debut you want to make sure you win you do well with what you have and what you need to do and I think he'll do that you look how high he is now and as in England have been fully in control of this game and I think he will be throughout the [Applause] game he'll keep his concentration for a moment he's undoubtedly going to be called upon at some point in this game it's actually his birthday on Sunday he said to turn 22 foul here on Alex Scott what will Lee harsley be thinking at the moment after a 30 minute spell that's seen them produce one goal I think similar to what we've been saying I think the control that Englander showings really good listen the goal was fantastic and we all want to see good goals from good players and I think he'll be thinking the same but to go and try and kill the game as much as they possibly can as quickly as they can to go and enjoy the rest of it just about out there by sh valer again and he made his debut in their game on Friday it's his second cap here tonight Gonzalez James Rodriguez that's a a fine home base for his Club plays for venetsia in Venice can't be too F of places to locate yourself as a as a pro as madw comes forward lovely pass the world lovely lovely pass the will but good play from howood Bell St just coming across I think there opportunities for England when looks on big attack can England transition quick to have an opportunity cuz when they get back into the shape looks and B they look disciplined and he looks they look together in compact so it might be a way of getting that second [Music] goal Urus it's increasingly blustery here and getting pretty cold as well as tickle gets a rare touch does what he has to [Applause] do [Music] Scott so important now we're goalkeepers now you know when teams play high lines and you see England now playing Highland a lot of teams kind of in the Premier League and and in top leagues in Europe play High lines it's important for the keeper to be high himself van gettings back to M just really get the contact he needed there he might have been pretty graceful with this goal but needed to get everything behind that there was a bit of a Mis kick in the end again another opportunity from them positions from them pullback areas just to pull back into them zones we call it the second six-yard boxing football just that little Zone there and there's a huge chance M will be disappointed with that because that should be 2N for by gon salvis England will start again it's been rinse and repeat for them throughout this first half gray missing the ball there was Scott covering well was Harwood Bellis a rare kind of error we've seen so far for England in this game yeah it is and I do think Luxenberg the longer it stays 1 nil we've all been there kind of playing football the longer it stays when you're playing against the better side and a much better side in England the longer it stays one nil you're always in the game so I think it's important we mentioned it a few times that that second goal comes at some point but England don't lose concentration in terms them them little details in the game just like we've just seen there losing the ball in silly [Applause] areas gray Elliot Mada all the flicks and tricks tonight bogin who switch sides Howard Bellis Elliot Mad really good play by non mad Elliots reverse into B Gins back out to Harwood Bellis someone's lost a boot down there someone's only playing with one and the referee stops play what happened to laces that's where boots are now have they got laces I think we can see on the thing there but a lot of boots now are slipons aren't they so they are to uh to obviously play and a lot of players I think they are slip on yet I think lot of a lot of players like that style of boot now but going back to the game I think England can make this easy or as hard as they like I really do I think they're in that much control of the game I think we can all see the control of God and and it's up to England how hard they want to make the night we restart with a drop ball Howard Bellis Elliot Gray you look how deep looks and bear honestly they it's so tough to break down at times it really is the the way the defending like I said the discipline the compact but it's really really tough forland to break down Elliot trying to be creative but just a bit too much on that there ill Junior didn't get there in time I guess the difference is maybe 15 or 20 years ago so many teams could get to the by line and whip it in against these kind of sides but England just wanted to take the low route most of the time now yeah of course and England got a lot of creative plays but I think we've seen in the game we've mentioned it a few times in commentary here me me and you in terms of getting to the Bine and just finding them zones just to pull it back I think that's been the best way for England to to get in behind this look and bag defense and but England have creative plays they're all wanting to make an impact on the game and I think we've seen that in the first 38 39 minutes of the game Jason via lets that one go Luxembourg about as far forward as they've been so hard so far sorry Nel gonalez is the man out there been trying to keep them out of the penalty area where they've not had a touch so far ball goes out off scott it is a throw to Luxembourg good play real good play from Luen B and I think that was the captain that was G that was gals running him behind and it was a good running behind and and and this is where I say say again and you just have to be careful just in terms of feeling the game's a little bit too easy cuz at one nil looks and beer always in it James Rodriguez England moving out maybe he can take advantage here where Luxembourg aren't set here's gray [Applause] M wenberg head coach down there Dan hu getting right behind his side Carly a much more reserved head coach in comparison as the two signed side by side down on the touch line in front of us here what a job Le carle's done by the way in terms of what he's done with this England under 21 team year after year the way they play how fluid they are the creative plays he gets on the pitch and and now he hasn't playing as a team he's done an absolutely incredible job with the with the 21s of course won the Euro last year in Georgia m space to play in behind here gray can't get there in time but he might still have a chance Archie gray across arriving illing Jr 2-n brilliant play Archie gray running inside getting into the box little loop again getting in them areas where you can cross the ball find the ball in the box and a really really good finish and now the game hope hopefully opens up for England a first goal at this level for Sam iling Jr proud proud moment for he and his family and it had all really come from when Luxembourg had that spell at the other end of the field it did and we've said about that and we've said about that during commentary but a really good thing whenever you score a goal for your for your country is an incredible feeling with that England sh on a great finish in the end but just tenacity from Archie grade just to keep going we've seen how lethal England can be down the wings and and get into the by line but again just a little bit of tenacity and assist for Arch gr a brilliant finish England under 21's two to the good Connor was saying a short while ago how important that second goal was going to be they've now got it Sam iling Jr of Juventus with it 4 minutes before halftime the two wide men have delivered the goods for Lee Carley huge when you're in games like this honestly I think we've all been involved in them and playing in them that second goal is absolutely massive it gives you that little bit of confidence you go one again and and I mentioned before England can make this night as easy or as or as hard as they want in and that just gives in that little bit of breathing space now continuing to score plenty of goals England be hopeful of keeping a clean sheet here tonight they only let in five so far four of those have been on their travels but this only their third home game they have played Four away out team Europe clean sheets as well James a massive part of tournament football honestly a real real big part of tournament football when we went the Euros kind of it was a huge part of I think when we went the Euros in 2020 I I think we only conceded one goal in the semi-final apart from the final obviously leading up to the final so it's a huge part of tournament football and and listen it's a it's a big part of any football these days yeah England didn't score loads of goals at the finals last summer but they didn't concede a single one at the other end a one-nil win against Spain in the final after beating czechia 2-n Israel 2-0 Germany 2-n Portugal 1-0 and Israel 3-0 in the semis looking for a third before the break here [Applause] trying to turn there in a tight area is a throw Scott Gray [Applause] it's a looking to play out here which can be dangerous a free kick one by Fabio Lo good play from wenber they are trying to play they're not just kicking it when they coming under a little bit of pressure we've seen that with England's first goal but they are trying to play and it was good play just to kind of take the pressure away a little bit but good pressing from England you don't mind fouls in that area of the pitch I'll be honest from a play's point of view especially from a Defender point of view when they're making fouls you can set up again Tai looking for Rodriguez headed down by gray here is James [Applause] Rodriguez to back by Ryan bberry chriz and GL just about squeezed through there in the end by berbery they have taken risks at times Luxemburg but don't think they'll be too disappointed by the way things have gone for them so far they've tried to express themselves Scott F on madw on uh B gens I beg you pardon again the fluidity of England B gens receiving the ball in the center CLE there Elliots standfield to his left here's madave often taken the right option Lo seen a lot of the ball down this near side we do have one minute of additional time at the end of this first half anything you think that Lee hary want to improve on for the second period I I think in games like this I think it's hard to improve listen England will want more goals it's as simple as that they'll want to get as many goals they can and and keep zero at the other end I think that's the biggest part of the game but I mentioned a bit just about being patient moving the ball getting to the by line getting the ball wide creating 1 V one 2V1 situations and I think that's the biggest part and and not getting complacent in the game being professional and making sure you do the game properly Howard bis slip ball that reaches its intended target in bog gtins that will just about see us through to half timee where the England fans here have been entertained in this first 45 I'll be hoping for more in the second half as well giveway there into Elliot and England could make it three before the break Elliot was fouled illing Jr takes on the Baton instead Scott last attack here Elliot that is halime England two to the goods at the break here in Bolton though it could have been many more n mad with such a graceful first after 23 minutes as he guided the ball across the goalkeeper and into the corner with very little power behind it at all Sam illing Jr able to crash home the second 4 minutes before the break to put England in command at halim Luxembourg as yet haven't had a single shot in the game England totally dominant throughout and they'll be hoping for more in the second half but the halftime score here at the tough sheet Community Stadium is England 2 Luxembourg nil hoping for more in this second period which is about to get on the way England attacking the North Sand in this second half here it's Luxembourg who get us restarted they have lost 16 of their last 17 away games and failed to score in 15 of them as well has conceded 49 goals along the way England in contrast have won 31 of their last 33 home Euro qualifiers just to put the two respective records into some kind of context just a recap of the teams across the bottom of your screens at the moment no changes for either side will be interesting to see at what point Lee Cary decides to mix things up with in all likelihood and no disrespect the win probably in the bag already yeah and I think it's important and I think he'll probably know it's important just to mix up his team and and bring a few substitutions on and also for the schedule that these players have got kind of in the in the domestic leagues as well and going back to the clubs I think it's important just to give players an opportunity and to come and experience playing for this England on the 21 here how much of a difficult balance is it though for the managers of the national teams to you know do what they ultimately want to do what they need to do you know they've got a job as well to win qualifiers and get through to major tournaments while at the same time paying respect to their parent clubs of course of course it's so so tough we see it at senior level as well not just under 21 level but the problem I say problem it's not a problem for Lee Carley but each and every one of these players are playing for the first teams back at the clubs as well as Sensational footballers and they're going to go back and play so it is a it is a balancing act but I think at the same time I think knowing in how well Le Carley has done with this team the England boys are already tune up and it's important then he uses the bench going into the final stages and I guess as a play you probably just want to stay out there no matter what don't you of course you're doing a game like this I think especially where you're moving the ball and having a lot of the ball and we've seen before I think it was 63% possession to to England it's F light more and you want to stay out as long as you possibly can back here by B em Kus gonalez who's the only player to have picked up a yellow card in this game so far Big Challenge went in on Harvey Elliot in the first half that the referee decided to punish qua nice pick out to find Elliot just drifted between the two lines there and he's got a run here from M great save by the goalkeeper lower shy Vier just able to Palm it round the post otherwise that would have been 3-0 fantastic fantastic play from England brilliant brilliant pass to start off the attack from from Quanza our Defenders haven't had much to do but that pass was superb to Harvey Elliott and listen Harvey Elliott doing what he does best driving at the back line the run from n madek is brilliant and a really really good save from L be keeper so England have an early Corner what is the traditional home end here Scott standing over it for Inland Runners from Deep unable to find any of them though on this occasion well Dan hasn't had loads of experience in managerial terms he is only 37 himself previously with wilt 71 for 147 games until October 2021 took over here a couple of years later with Luxenberg has coached the under 16 side in the past and before that it was school football for [Applause] him lenberg win a free kick I'm sure they'll see this as a want to say a set pece opportunity I thought they might load it high but deciding not to in the end yeah they like to play they like to move the ball they like to have the ball on the deck and try and play outer situations we've not seen them go into the box once really or that opportunity to go in the box and even then you think not having much of the ball and opportunity to put it in would have been big for them but no they keep on playing slip through here engo and Rodriguez just left the ball behind madw able to recover it galz Rodriguez getting after this gray out there with him and don't be want to conceive here Rodriguez let that one slip there try to take it around young Archie gray and he really is Young he made his debut on the opening day of the season for Leeds United hasn't looked back since here they come again Rodriguez flick hasn't had too many touches so far it's another one here but he's lost it now Elliot has Stanfield ahead of him Mak to the left B noens up there as well it is B noens who's through 3-0 England wonderful counter attack from the Young Lions finished off by Jamie bogin for his first under 21 goal a what a fantastic Counterattack really really good from England another opportunity another way of playing and a really really well-timed pass from Harve and a fantastic finish from by gens really good Counterattack I mean the way England win the ball in their own arm and counter it Pace like it must have been five or six seconds in the back of the net a really really good goal and like I said you look at the run from BG here even runs past mateti to get him behind and he sees the coming out the keeper coming out and just plays it through his legs into the back of the net really good goal from England one they need at the start of the second half just to really kill the game off massive desire there from Jamie bog gtins a scorer for Dortmund earlier this season at sanso against Milan he's doing it back home here in Bolton has given England a 3-0 lead with a very early goal in the second half for Lee Carley's side so a goal of the sanero and a goal of Bolton wanders not which are you picking Bolton wanders that is the correct answer of course it is brilliant goal from England fantastic gavz here back to Shai Baer and those kind of opportunities were always going to be good for England weren't they when Luxburg were going to venture forward as much as they have it was always going to leave gaps oh huge huge it was always going to leave gaps for England we said after the second goal will look some big just open up a little bit and try and come out and try and get that goal that they need and when they do you have a top team like England who who can go and exploit the spacing behind it was a brilliant goal from England and top teams find different ways of scoring goals and that's what this England England under 21 team does gz he was going to go home but opted in the end to find agostinelli flick there's a bit of space here for Luxembourg we've got a man over but he might not be needed here Lo taking it and hitting the frame with a goal how did that not go in still a chance here may be Kus agostinelli he flat with his ball in a scare for England maybe a scare here for Luxembourg Stanfield closing it down shy Vier has to H it out of play great play from Luen big really good play we mentioned in the first half how important Wing backs can be and width can be and they really find that it's great play they get in behind and a great strike to find off the post it was really really unlucky and good play from [Applause] Luxenberg well some tickle had something to get involved with there the England goalkeeper tonight making his debut tell you are you'd be reading if you were to ConEd in this game on your debut I think Sam tickle will be he'll be fuming for go goals in the back of his neck net tonight and I think it's important England don't switch off at any moment I think it's important he he put a professional job and like I said great play onto his left foot hits it as hard as he can one of them where where he he puts his foot through and it to as hard as he can and really unlucky it was good play yeah their first attempt of any kind this evening from Fabio Lo the left wing back got to be patient those stats back up England's dominance so far there is looh just had that attempt quansa Elliot oh love it Touch Away there by madek he could be in again that is a quite brilliant goal from NY mad and England have fought absolutely outstanding outstanding again we mentioned his first goal just receiving the ball on his right foot and letting it come across his body he's done the exact same again he sucked the defender in right across his body inside on his left and listen you always know he's going to hit the target from that area and you know he can score goals from that lady he's been fantastic tonight but again great pass from Harvey Elliot setting it up and a brilliant goal well England have already put nine past Serbia at home this season at the city ground back in October and they're heading in the same direction here they have four and madek with some dazzling footwork again a that first touch where just just there just comes across his body he sucks the defender in it's so hard for a Defender that you don't know whether to go or sit off and the defender goes and just gets sucked under the ball a little bit in behind onto his left foot and into the bottom corner fantastic goal from madai again England really showing their class from all sides of the field two for madw he's on to six now for these [Applause] qualifiers actually Harvey Elliot is top of the charts at the moment with now Rangers forward Fabio Silva played with Fabio W yeah played with Fabio great player and it's good to see him up there but now har Elliot to madek have been brilliant tonight and a real professional performance from than watching here Elliot has been pulling the strings in mid Fields all night long as we expected him to England looking for a fifth makes nine goals now in two games in this International window Elliot to play there into illing junor and did play it into illing junor who couldn't quite take it as a as a player now when you're especially playing in your position at the back and there's so much going on ahead of you you're just hoping those attacking players keep on putting the pressure on yeah without a doubt but also organizing I mentioned in the first half how important it is for for quandra and Howard Bellis just to keep on talking keep telling the lads to move the ball quickly one and two touch side to side and then the spaces will open in between the lines and that's where England are good that's where the creative players are and listen as a Defender you don't want much to do tonight you just want the last to get the job done loads of goals if possible and and move move on Urus Crossfield ball and he could be in again here looh angle tight maybe should have gone for goal [Applause] again MTI Elliot preparing one or two changes down below us by the looks of things think Brook Norton cuffy has been spoken to among [Applause] others [Music] Scott tell you what Connor I thought we were moving into spring we've gone back in time to January tell me about it this is what happens when you come up north you're used to South London aren't you telling me before where temperatures a little bit High you said to me only 3 or 4° good job you brought you big [Applause] c big switch here into B gens he's got himself on the score sheet and really strutting his stuff out there now gets away from him but nearly comes through to Elliot m is now on a hattick of course [Applause] quansa preparing multiple changes then Morgan Rogers will be introduced here as well looks like Ashley Cole beneath us is in charge of the subp papers at the moment those changes in just a few moments as England forward again here hasn't actually been a game that's been broken up too much has it there haven't been many fouls they haven't been getting two patch that those two early tackles didn't they but apart from that has flowed relatively well yeah I was going to say about the two I think we thought early on as well that they were going to disrupted a little bit Luxenberg with them two big tackles but I think they actually played some good stuff at times but listen England are the top side the way they moved the ball you look now at the amount of plays that they commit forward in you just got Howard Bellis and Quan at the back on the row Elliot might try and shift it back onto his stronger side there but in the end it goes through to sh valer I get the feeling James England just up the tempo a little bit I don't know if that's something Lee Carley said at half time just to up the tempo a little bit when they lose the ball they reacting a little bit sharper to win it back I think they're understanding that there's goal there if they can win it back high just like now here's quona getting stuck in still jel quansa moring forward Jerel Quan that would have been some strike Scott lovely touch bittins didn't quite take it with him Scott Elliot they've got space to the right how about that from a pass how about that for a pass from Harvey Elliot a roner on the volley he's enjoying himself isn't he he really is a listen we all know he's a top player but I would never try that in a memory of man I'll be honest what he's just done there I'm not sure I've ever seen that before in open play the way kick England the way you flicked it up to be able to do it was absolutely fantastic quickly taken here mad he knows that hat Trick's not far away now doesn't he yeah he knows and listen when plays are in that that that situation he know that the Patrick's on the card for them well Jay Stanfield coming off here now it's been a tricky night for him though hasn't it really hasn't seen too much of the ball in that Central Area yeah really tricky James really tricky and it's something where I've mentioned a lot about the way he looks on be play very deep do and we said at the start about stanfield's runs in behind there's not been that spacing behind for him to run he's reacted really well when it comes to losing the ball but it's been tough it's been really tough for him when you're playing against three center backs in the long strike it's a tough role to play but listen he's give a good account of himself he's worked his socks off and he'll have a little breather now so other changes for England Archie Gray's coming off here as well as Taylor Harwood Baris Brook Norton cuffy going on at right back and a proud moment in the middle as well for tan mangi who comes on the luten town Defender to make his debut a what a great moment brilliant moment always making your debut with an England a on he's fantastic and obviously the ladu are coming off as well just getting that little bit of a rest going into the weekend for the clubs as well Eng coming forward here madek could Square it and does and Rogers with his first touch of the ball gives England goal number five another goal with Eng wi the ball back high up the pitch in brilliant play from madai across the ball listen what a face touch you'd want coming onto the field a tapping five yards out four yards out with an open goal in front here just to play it in the goal brilliant and again brilliant from England winning the ball high up the pitch they are really putting Luxembourg to the sword now how about that for a Super Sub but non mad surely in line for the man of the match here tonight I tell you what Stanfield will be sat on the line won't he absolutely Kick Kicking himself he's just come off and the one opportunity that falls four yards in out out from goal and he TAPS in the goal ball brilliant brilliant from from madek to get the ball across and that's in a great first touch from Morgan Rogers englands have five as they did on Friday and Luxembourg now are going to make some changes Rogers with his first International goal for the under 21s a lot of Firsts over the course of this International window well Tim flick is going to come off here for Luxembourg and they'll send on Cedric Bala in his [Music] place balat who plays for unen in Luxembourg he's one of the older players in the group at the age of 21 a holding midfielder and they're also going to take off here emra Kus and coming on in his place at right back a straight swap Lenny Korea of rassing FC unon Luxembourg [Applause] you did miss those England changes confirmation of those for you now at the top of your screen Rogers on Brook Norton cuffy on and tan mangi as well who wasn't part of the group in aan on Friday he actually went back to his Club loon Rob Edward's side to get some treatment on an injury that he'd been suffering from but was enough to rejoin the group for this one and you always suspected that because of that fact he was likely to get some minutes and here he is another man who's a premier league regular in this side a big few weeks in a couple of months to come at the foot of the Premier League table Quant finding mangi Scott quansa Luxembourg not seeing to much of the ball again now it's all England here m slip there from n cuffy onload at mil mall at the moment from Arsenal quansa MTI ining Junior wasn't too far away again GPR in from England moving the ball side to side I thought he could have carried on play in there and just just make it even tougher for Luen B just starve them with the ball a little bit but listen he went for goal was a good opportunity and a good chance but no good play from England again will be an England debut here shortly we understand Adam Warton is set to come on the Crystal Palace Central midfielder what a heavy touch there Elliot trying to P it back there were numerous England players in the middle they have to settle for a corner Elliot again at the heart of things it was a risk taken there by Cedric balat who's only just come on bogens Scott B in just trying to coax that one in there came off atin [Applause] Elli mati quansa [Applause] Elliot have been popping the ball about at will all evening seem to be getting more and more confident here as a player playing at this level are you ever aware of Records the fact that they've won 9-0 in a qualifier before are you chasing things like that at this point no no I think listen you find out about it after the at any level it's not just at this level at any level you find out about records after but they'll just be trying to get as many goals they can keep on playing well and keep on probing and and listen if records come they come but I don't think England be looking at that at all Elliots here towards illing junor Rogers there as well Korea bringing it away way [Applause] belli slice of luck there as it bounces off the foot of via so no one you ever played with interested in numbers at all no one was ever talking about it rather addressing a another of thing no not all honestly that's not never ever something as a football player you look at you see records and you think oh maybe I might be able to but you never ever talk about them there's no way I think these these under 21s be looking at it going we can break any s to record kind of go into this game they'll just want as many goals as possible and again we mentioned it first half but a clean sheet is absolutely vital for any Defender and any goalkeeper England changed then a man who was playing just 20 minutes further north of here until recently now on the books of Crystal Palace and a man just called up a couple of days ago in fact he was playing for the elite League Squad the under 20s as it was formerly known Adam Warton of Crystal Palace here the 20-year-old is going to come on for his debut for the England and 21s in place of James mcy I know you're a big fan of yeah very very good play he showed again tonight the quality that he has the how calm he is on the ball receiving the ball in tight areas getting into positions where he can create a fantastic play but what a moment for Warton obviously being away with with the under 20s before and getting his opportunity now to come into this team and and get a few minutes at the [Applause] end halfway through the second half and a free header maybe should have been directed On Target from illing Jr well they've had chances Galore tonight England that number 16 Elliot there getting the flight that the flight on that sorry almost perfect I think Junior just couldn't quite put it on target I tell you what the enjoyment that it must bring playing in this team honestly just watching the May tonight the the freedom that they all play with the fluidity that they all play with how everybody runs for each other the way when they lose the ball even now being five off reacting to the loss of the ball I think they've being brilliant the professionalism they've shown to to go and play the game like they have has been fantas fantastic when you've got all these talents that suddenly Converge on St George's Park on Monday morning at the start of the international window how much coaching as a coach like Lee Cary you actually having to do as opposed to just letting them Express themselves the way they do for the clubs yeah and I think that's a big part of what he does it's hard to coach when you're a national team manager I think because you don't get that long with the players I think we all see it from Seniors down as well so I think it's hard to coach but when you've got such talented players and you see the environment that the coaches are creating now players want to be there we mentioned meni going back to his Club but wanted to come back and be a part of this game as well it's brilliant to see Elliot Scoops it here looking for the Run of nordon cuppy no one able to pick up the scraps apart from luxembourg's James Rodriguez England [Applause] [Music] throw won into quaner Bens Too Many Bodies in there it could be a good job that there aren't too many fans in this stand the way that was welled out of play there by ginelli of [Applause] [Music] [Applause] nberg mangi Elliot [Applause] [Music] won benss space for illing junor to fire that one across whether it was a cross or a shot it will be a corner now lovely little position there for ly Jor just to find himself in just get it on the AR and like said we don't know whether it was a cross or a shot but it was good defending from the defender but a lovely lovely position to find himself in and listen I think our heads are just facing this way now aren't they with the way the playing and now the control in the game yeah stiff necks all around an England Corner can they find a sixth goal here it's a good delivery and there it is headed in by Sam iling Jr he gets his head around this time a second goal of the evening for him and England had a sick goal ah top really really good Corner great ball in and a brilliant head he attacked it he got himself up and it was a fantastic header just a glance into that far corner and another great goal for England well they're really taking their opportunities now a great night for saming Jr both of his under 21 goals have come this evening just timed his run and got his placement perfect a it's a brilliant cross it's a brilliant corner from Alex Scott as well he's been great tonight he's moved the ball well he's been clean with his passing and it's a brilliant corner and list what a moment two goals for him tonight and and a brilliant Ed for his second one well his last International goal was for the under 19s against andur in a euro qualifier back in November 2021 he's had to wait a while but he's got two here tonight now Luxenberg making a change Paulo junior saza is coming on of King and James Rodriguez is off and adelai jaian Balo is on here for Jason via in the other change but here come England again Rogers Elliot straight to the goalkeeper by his high standards that probably should have gone in he deserves a goal as well doesn't he the way he's played the way he's moved the ball the way he's brought others into play he's been fantastic tonight everything that we expect from him again just he just expect him just to open up his body and just play into that far cor I think that's what he wanted to do but again he's been phenomenal tonight give away the free kick here still probably over 20 minutes to go including added time England about to send on Connor's teammate Callum Doyle a lovely to see Callum coming on brilliant lad great lad I was hoping he was going to come on tonight he he's a fantastic ftic player as well he's done brilliant for us this year kind of coming in he's had a bit of an injury in in the season as well but to see him playing for England it's really good and I'm absolutely over the moon he's coming on there [Applause] tonight so goals for England now mad on 23 illing Junior on 41 it was 2-0 at halftime but for second half goal fromo gettings madek Rogers just after he came on and iling Jr have given England a 6 nil advantage [Applause] you know what's brilliant to see as well James is that a lot of the time you know when you see a lot of Subs being made in these games sometimes it can affect the flow of the game a little bit you can just see the game just slow down a little bit the substitutions have been brilliant they've come on and it's it's as if they've got a bit of a point to prove and that's what you want from substitutions coming on in games like this just to show that they here to play and they ha to be involved and they're being brilliant the flowa game hasn't changed and England have actually stepped on a Gear as well well PA announcer here has just asked the crowd to show their appreciation for Sam illing Jr I'm wondering if you can do the same now yeah fantastic what a great performance really really good deserves his goals he's been absolutely fantastic up and down that left hand side and L you see now big hug from Lee Carley big smile on his face and a real proud night for him all that from left back as well you see the smile from Ashley Cole brilliant smile from Ashley col and listen What a Feeling for him he he's been fantastic tonight qua Doyle how would you describe the role that he plays for Leicester at the moment yes so we we play a little bit different at the minute we play obviously with like we've been mentioning a lot tonight with archer gay with a fullback coming inside on the right hand side so he builds up in a bit of a bit of a back three on the left hand side he's got a lovely left foot he loves the pass inside just to play into kind of the pocket players in into the number 10 but he's been brilliant for his this year he really really has on the line here as England look for the next go by no gettings did that an arm they were certainly claiming so I think the arm might have been hit but it was close to the chest in any case it would have been harsh Luxenberg scrambling away through Paulo Junior saza England look hungry for more actually a free kick here goes to Luxemburg James we mentioned the half time about that position England find themselves in just that little pullback Zone how many opportunities that they create how many goals they score for it I don't think it's on ball it's good defending are you defending hating there cuz I wouldn't have wanted that I'll be honest I'd have been going mad if people were claiming for that but yeah that little zonea that England fan himself on the amount of chance they created they been brilliant in that tonight now believe it or not I wasn't right back back in the day so same same Union as [Applause] you bet you ain't one of them who come inside and play the Midfield or would you don't think anyone knew what that was about at that time here's Elliot he's vog giens everyone enjoying themselves here at Bolton tonight it has been a night to remember so far for the under 21s skipping there off the head of Junior [Music] saza spread by Scott B A gens off the chest ker must be daunting for Luxembourg mustn't it sitting in the hotel early knowing what they're going to face in you know complete contrast to England who don't see these players week in week out you know Premier League massive as it is around the world they'll have been really fearing England tonight weren't they oh 100% like a lot of Nations will do a lot of Nations will well hang on here's Rogers looking for another Morgan Rogers M good save chasing that hattick goal but it won't come yet yeah going back to lenur there James 100% I think they'll all know the players they'll watch them week in week out like you mentioned how big the Premier League is and how big the the football league is and and how players are playing but I think it's important that England go about their business they go about their job and they've certainly done that tonight England looking for a 13th sorry 13th successive home qualifying Victory that's since drawing nil nil against the Netherlands back in 2018 they have been in formidable form whether it be under Lee Carley or ad boid who he replaced in the summer of 21 Scott Doyle he tries to coax It Forward there into the path of Elliot to put an arm up in appreciation the rain starting to come down here now it was forecast this evening and those in the first few rows getting a bit of a coating here as well as the players down on the [Applause] field England have a throw with about 15 minutes to [Applause] go wson mangi Elliot Luxemburg sitting pretty deep now at the moment so much of this game have been defending with almost a back six haven't they at times yeah the have James the a we mentioned before about attack V defense and it's been very much like that Lu and B have had little fluts here there where they've got forward that that opportunity where they at the bar where they done really well from from the fullback but England have been really professional they've been really good they've moved the ball really well and going to here at half time Elliot to madek just couldn't quite bring it [Applause] down Elliot has look to Cut Above at times over these last couple of games [Applause] [Applause] space on this right side here for Bava has had plenty of senior experience his fourth year playing in his club's first team switchy play from bber Junior saza penetrative run but a less than impressive ball again switching the play from Luxenberg they've done it at spells tonight okay but listen they're good opportunities and they're opportunities you've got to take against this England team cuz when you give them the ball back you probably won't see it for five or six minutes again so England have it again now and again England will it'll keep it for a little bit now in the game and last 15 minutes 13 minutes whatever it'll be I think they'll just H just see the game out now be wrong of me to say it would have been a different game had luxemborg scored that goal when they hit the postu Lo but certainly would have given them something England might have something here they Will Rogers England seven Luxembourg Neil two goals Off the Bench for Morgan Rogers outstanding outstanding I've just been mentioned about luxenberg's opportunity down the far end there and when you don't take them chances this England team can hurt you on the break and that's certainly what they've done at time tonight brilliant pass from madai outstanding from Rogers and we mentioned about Stanfield going off he W his socks off but he' love them runs in behind it's a great running behind brilliant pass and the composure to take it around a keeper and roll it into an empty net fantastic almost a no look finish there as well from Morgan Rogers he certainly stepped up tonight having come on Off the Bench a slightly different position to that he's been occupying for middles for much of the season and a few opportunities had at his new side Aston Villa so far so composed in front of goal and you can see why Villa paid the money for him in January oh certainly certainly and it's a brilliant football you've seen it since he's come on and I mentioned about the subs and the impact they've had and the way the game hasn't stalled when them Subs have come on and he's a massive part of that he's being brilliant but listen fantastic player the running behind was superb and you still got to finish it the hardest job is to finish it and he certainly done that England are now two goals away from their all-time biggest win that record is not far but Luxembourg looking to spoil the party little Away by mangi nearly comes through to [Music] Rogers here now with bala Doyle trying to see him off offside so much confidence about so many of these England players without trying to put a number on it you are one of the older players in your Club side now do you see a difference in the attitude to the younger players as they are now to maybe when you were coming through thank you for mentioning that James I appreciate that mate no no I do yeah the confidence that they show the the ability to to change the way they want to play if a manager wants you to play a certain way he can the the knowledge that these players have now from such a young age football has improved so much over the last few years in my eyes in terms of young players coming through we see with the England under 21 but also the youth ages as well that England developing and players that come through and and even the players making the step up to the seniors we see it tonight with different players making the debuts and I think it's so so big and I see it now as well at at Lester as [Applause] well Doyle B giin [Applause] Quan oenb have it [Applause] k Scott Rogers trying to go again here just in terms of Morgan Rogers you're talking about his different position do you think he's playing in this more Central role because of what Lee Carley has at the moment or do you think it's possibly something us going forward no I certainly think it's something they can use going forward I think you see the way he plays it he he's got every string to his bow if you want to put it that way he can drop deep to receive the ball he's good in tight areas we see with his second goal he can run him behind he's got that kind of instinct to be in between the goal post as well for his first goal so I certainly think they can use it going forward here is Rogers one of three players on a brace tonight and Doyle good block by the goalkeeper Rogers again benss won here's mangi [Music] [Applause] BG with a late spell of possession here [Applause] [Music] [Applause] byala Gonzalez leading forward and that's not a bad ball at all they've got two over here junior saza has it here and lo could quite find the space and here come England three on three Elliots with m ahead of him couldn't quite squeeze it through Rogers was to the left as well both chasing hattricks wton [Applause] Doyle Elliot offside well Connor there have been so many outstanding performances tonight but who is your player of the match ah theas James theas listen I I think Jael has been outstanding I think how he's gone about his business considering the sort of player he is and what does at his Club as well I think he's been absolutely brilliant but I think it's hard not to give it to madai how he's influenced the game with his goals how he's gone about his business as well with his professionalism driving it at the back five and and getting 1 V one and setting up chances well but his goals are brilliant his first goal was one of the best you'll see it was fantastic so I'm going M here taking his tally to six tonight in qualifying have had so many goal scorers in this qualification campaign healthy crowd here tonight an excess of 11 a half thousand enjoyed what they've come to see even if it has been in the cold and the wind and the rain they know what they're getting in Bolton believe me they know what they're getting in Bolton they prepared for it qua watches that one out [Applause] bber CA and glad HS it through and it hits the post the second time they've hit that upright tonight so close to losing that clean sheet leaving themselves a bit open towards the end here Javi and Balo here to bipa and space opening up again and this time tickle makes the save a they want to make sure England here that they don't they don't lose that clean sheet they've been brilliant they played some great football they've been professional they just want to make sure listen I know it's lucky it takes a little bit of a deflection off the post and and Sam tickle picks up the second one but they just want to make sure they don't lose that clean sheet now it's important it really is just to keep the score at zero and it's been a great night all around [Music] then might be one final change for Luxembourg coming as the clock is about to tick into 90 free kick little clip there in the back of bery change here we'll see Dino satic come on to make his under 21 International debut of unon Titus [Music] Pon B will make way he's tried to make things happen in the middle hasn't he for Luxenberg ber he has yet is a and a real tidy player like I said they've wanted to play they wanted to move the ball they're not a team who who who played the ball long every time they get it try and play and he he's a massive pass that so he's had a real good night I say a real good night it's tough being on the back end of a of a 70 but if you're looking at someone in the looks on big team he's probably being in the stand out for them we are into three minutes of additional time at the end here that's all that's left and salvis going forward but he gets a challenge on him this time after that one earlier in the game from Jal quansa this time for England brilliant tackle brilliant tackle 90 minutes on the clock and he's chasing back for his team making a tackle like that absolutely fantastic [Music] tonight [Music] 11it just behind Rogers he might still get a chance unselfish in his play he could have got his hattick and instead tried to give madek his but neither of them end up with a Trel and a missed opportunity yeah I I don't mind that I don't mind that at all I think it's good play from Morgan Rogers I think it's trying to find his his teammate on his attrick as well I don't mind it at all really really unselfish England's almost there it's quite something when it's not even going to be their biggest win of this qualification campaign they did score 34 goals on the road to 2021 26 on the road to 2023 seven goals here tonight they've taken their total to 32 with three games still to [Applause] play reflection on that Crossland just about scramble it clear there have been a few hairy moments towards the end challenge there and maybe another counter bins they've got three on two here England M Elliot Far Side Rogers in the middle M selfish in his play Elliot left frustrated a Morgan Rogers will be looking on him there won't he Morgan R be looking saying I just tried to help you out there with all that trick surely you're going to help me out he was always going to go for goalie I think he's desperate for the hat trick ball isn't he but again another good counter and that was nearly nearly eight on the board for England do you remember many sevens just quickly in your time as a England player senior or youth uh no not going to remember we' done 10 against San Marino didn't we away from home with the seniors uh that was a big that was the biggest one we've done a couple of fives and different things but listen it seems like these under 21s do do quite Big Score lines quite often to be honest with you that 9-1 against Serbia back in October M scored in that game as well free kick England and that will be just about that as comprehensive a victory as you could wish to see from a young Lion's point of view they did have their post hit twice but England scoring seven goals and that is time here in Bolton what an evening for the under 21s and what an international window as well 5-1 winners on Friday 7 nil winners here tonight M with a brace Rogers with a brace illing Jr with a brace and Jamie booin who got the first goal of the second half as well England were only two n up at halftime but really put Luxembourg to The Sword in the second half the thoughts now of England International Kor Cod ah fantastic fantastic from this England team you can't ask any more of what they've produced tonight they've been absolutely brilliant from the people who started to the substitutions who come on and kept the game going loads of great goals a great support for the under the 21s and a real good night for them they were absolutely fantastic brilliant so England still second in the group another Victory as Lee Carley's side finish the March window with a very fine Victory here and they now have to wait until September for their next game as they travel over to face Northern Ireland it's going to be a long time in the waiting for this group but they've done all they can here in March whole time here tonight at a chough she Community Stadium England under 217 luxemb [Applause] [Music] mil behind instag
