welcome back into the PNC digital desk presented by PNC Bank brilliantly boring since 1865 the Nationals won at home tonight and here's more from Davey Martinez yeah I mean it's regardless how long it took 100 wins a lot of wins so congratulations to him and his family um what I can say about Patrick is the guy he competes he goes out there every 5 days takes the ball you know give us 110 pitches if we ask him to so you know he's been awesome he's gred the clubhouse with the young guys I mean he's a big part of why young young guys are actually doing really good he really is so um he talks to him all the time he keeps him engaged uh I can't say enough about Patrick you know so congratulations again um he's he's he's been amazing I know he wishes he had a you know 150 wins but um he's he's done well for us I mean without him we don't win a World Series that's that's what I can say about Patrick so um let's see if he gets gets a few more this year what you see that L be so effective for most of the games today yeah his cutter was good you know used both sides of the play but his cutter is really good today you know slider was was effective so um but he kept for the most part he kept the ball down and two te was really good down um so he's he got you know he got a lot of lot of uh early swings and and some effective Striker just J's fastball what can a milestone like this exemplify for a pretty young pitching staff yeah I mean they you know they all looked at him and they like I said they he's been he's been here for a long time so uh they admire what he's done over his career um but you know that's you know you look the young guys should said hey you know I want to be that guy one day right I mean that's that's what that's what you shoot forward and be able to win the championship like he did so um it's good it was good for our clubhouse they're having a good time in there right now and um it's a lot of fun so uh you know we'll celebrate tonight and back to work tomorrow James uh that hit came on the sixth pitch and they were all Splitters some of those early swings it looked like he was pretty uncomfortable with it over the course of that bat did you think he kind of figured it out is that a good sign you of how he can make that adjust course yeah 100% I mean he he he said you know and he was trying to get the ball up and he say he kept you know ball kept dying on him getting going down getting down he just you know he say I just had to stay back a little bit longer and it was a big hit to get us get us on the board there so uh and then the offense kind of uh contributed throughout the whole game so it was good you know big home run by YZ uh which was awesome so uh but you know they SW the last couple days they swung about really well seem like when when James gets the swing and misses because it's down the Zone balls below the Zone how you SE him adjust to that recent Dam you know he's got he understands hey he's got to get the ball he missed some balls up today you know uh but they pitching him down you know so but he's got to see the ball up all all all our all our guys really need to especially when they change UPS um you want to try to get the ball up in the zone what's the things for a young guy like you can hit it down there if it comes like it's easier it's better when when it's up what's the balance like like being patient not taking those even AR strikes yeah you know especially with guys in scoring position you you kind of want to get the ball in the strike zone you that's the goal you know the chases like I always said you know when you chase out of Zone that's when you get in trouble so you know we got guys like him you know that are learning hey when you got guys on base you got to make them throw your strike I mean you got to get the ball in the zone when we do that we hit the ball hard well that's it for now from manager Davey Martinez your postgame sound presented by PNC Bank brilliantly boring since 1865
