OMG: Is This Shocking Rumor About Gators Football True? | SEC Schedule

Intro the Florida Gators may have some new yearly opponents and might be losing a couple storied rivalries we're going to tell you why there are some really positive takeaways that fans are missing but I'm also going to go on a little bit of a rant here at the end so make sure you stick around in case you missed it Ross Dellinger tweeted what many believe to be the new permanent SEC opponents as the conference likely moves to a nine game schedule those three teams for Florida would be Georgia South Carolina and Oklahoma that's right no Tennessee no Kentucky no LSU but just before we get going into this this is our 10th video okay and if you haven't already make sure you go subscribe to the channel after this video and go catch up on all the things that you've missed so that you see all of our latest content but let's get back to the schedule okay overall this could actually be a good thing for UF I know I didn't think it at South Carolina first either when I looked at the schedule I've had to really sit here and kind of mull over the teams that supposedly UF is going to have on their schedule year in and year out and figure out what this would actually mean for UF I do think that overall it could be a really good thing here's why one UF is getting South Carolina I'm just going to say it they're getting South Carolina we have three permanent opponents and one of them is somebody that us generally takes care of year in and year out that should be a win eight or nine times out of ten right obviously there have been a lot of fun games in that rivalry it's fun to go to Columbia it's a great environment it was neat when Spurrier coached there they kept us out of an SEC Championship game one year the following year we went to an SEC Championship game because we beat them on a blocked field goal there is some history there with South Carolina at least recently so it's fun but also generally Florida's gonna Oklahoma win so that goes to the win column if we get if we play South Carolina every single season okay so the next permanent opponent that UF is potentially getting at least if you believe uh Challenger is Oklahoma they're having to adjust to SEC play right we're talking about Oklahoma coming from the big 12. they're used to getting up for what two games this season potentially they're about to go into the SEC grind that is going to take some adjustment Oklahoma hasn't been that good recently they were six and seven this year this is not the Oklahoma team that is Elite and makes the playoffs every year is always you know prior to the playoffs in the BCS uh bowl games and stuff this team they're not that good and if they're going six and six in the Big 12 what in the world is going to happen to them when they play a nine game SEC schedule it's not going to be pretty at least at the beginning there really is going to be a learning Regular Schedule curve for Oklahoma so why not be the beneficiary of that learning curve the other good thing about only having three permanent SEC opponents is that we get to see more regular matchups that fans have been begging for how often have we heard oh my gosh it's been 10 years since we've played Auburn or eight years or you know we only get to play Bama every once in a while but we see Bandy in Missouri every single year this is going to make it so that regularly Florida is going to get to play those teams that that we get once a decade at the moment right so first and foremost like I mentioned Auburn that Auburn series will be back on that's a fun rivalry Florida Auburn has some really really contentious games in its history it's carried a lot of weight a lot of times they've kept each other out of monumentous games down the road you know SEC Championship games uh not necessarily playoff implications but but uh bowl game implications this is a game that has meant something to the university but in recent years we just haven't seen it enough Missouri we're not going to have to play Vandy in Missouri every single year I already said it it's worth saying again though right Mandy is we consider them the doormat of the SEC Missouri even though truly they've had Florida's number you know really since joining the conference at least half the time it's it's not there's no rivalry there it's not a fun place to go watch a college football game there's nothing about playing Missouri that is exciting generally it's the oh man we have the noon game against Missouri there's not enough time to tailgate and our team's not going to be awake when we play them I I don't think having them only every once in a while is a bad thing the other thing is that this means Bama Texas Texas A M those schools are going to be coming to the swamp regularly that has to impact on multiple things first and foremost recruiting right now Bama comes to the swamp once or twice every 10 years if we see them on a regular rotating basis every three to four years that's huge for recruiting recruits want to sit Recruiting in the stands for a Bama Florida for a Texas A M Florida for an LSU Florida for these big huge games they're gonna happen on campus a lot more regularly than a couple times a decade um Texas A M has only come to the swamp once since joining the SEC somehow we've gone there a whole bunch but we're going to see them more regularly it's not only going to impact recruiting it's going to impact ticket sales right especially season ticket sales when you look at the season ticket rundown right and you see okay we've got six home games or seven home games and it's East Carolina uh Western Kentucky The Citadel and then you get either Florida State or LSU and maybe Tennessee or Kentucky right now right like there's just and then you're sprinkling in your vanities in your Missouri's in your South Carolina if we know we've every single year year in and year out you're going to have the opportunity to play the Alabama as the LSU's the Texas's the auburns the Texas a M's that's going to do wonders for ticket sales that's going to keep the Schedule swamps sold out every single weekend and those are the things that not only do fans want to see and the university wants to see but recruits want to see a full house players want to play in front of a full house and this new schedule is going to it's going to be enticing to fans and we're still going to have very regular matchups against the Tennessee's that we're losing the LSU the Kentucky those games aren't going away another thing that this schedule does is make Georgia actually have to go play in some of these hard places right George is going to actually have to go to Texas A M the first time in this new rotation is going to be the first time George has ever had to go play Texas A M in texas since the Aggies joined the SEC the parody that just didn't exist in the schedule prior to moving towards three permanent opponents and having the rest rotate there there is no parody UF has played a harder schedule than a lot of the teams in the SEC for really a very long time and the good news about this schedule is Georgia that it does protect the most important game of the year and I think we can all have debates over who our biggest rival is but honestly right now there shouldn't be a debate it's Georgia right and that game is protected and we've been on the rough side of it the last couple of years but it was just two seasons ago that UF dog walk Georgia in Jacksonville I don't think that this is something we're not Florida doesn't need to get used to losing to Georgia right I think that these two years are going to be more of an anomaly this is a back and forth rivalry I think that we're very close to it returning to a back and forth rivalry and I'm really glad that this is a game that the SEC thought was important to protect it's always massive but what are your thoughts if Ross's tweet is not correct what three opponents would you want to see on UF schedule regularly comment below and let's talk about it and I'm going to talk about it this is my issue right this is my issue of where I think the SEC got it wrong and this is from a fan perspective from an objective Permanent opponents perspective the SEC got it right it is easier for Florida to make it to the SEC Championship game and Beyond with Georgia South Carolina and Oklahoma as the three permanent opponents but the three teams that I would love to see as the opponents would the permanent opponents would be LSU Tennessee and Georgia I think about the iconic moments from those rivalries I think about the fact that Peyton Manning never beat Florida I think about the fact that we have stopped at teams from going to the SEC Championship major Playoff Games Etc because of upsets that happened in these three rivalries I think about Tim Tebow putting the phone signal up in Baton Rouge when he scored after that that week of LSU fans getting his phone number and calling him 87 bajillion times I think about beating them when they were the number one team in the country and Ron Zuck was our lame duck coach and he got carried off the field in the rain rain I mean there are so Easy schedule many iconic moments when you think about Tennessee and LSU and Georgia it literally goes back my entire lifetime and then beyond Kentucky whatever I maybe even could could get behind losing LSU but Tennessee I don't understand how in the world the SEC could blow this and for Oklahoma right this is UF we don't need an easy schedule right bring it on we've it's never been easy for UF Florida teams have always ended up with the short end of the stick right we end up with a short end of the stick with officiating our own conference gives us the short end of the stick playoff teams full teams whatever Florida has always gotten the short end of the stick and that's kind of the way we like it right the heart of the battle the better the reward and I think that's the way Gator fans at least have always looked at it we don't need an easy schedule we can take on anyone we're already going to have Georgia and Florida State on the schedule every single year which Competitive balance is tougher than anybody else's main rival and out of conference rival in the country if we're taking care of business it doesn't matter who is there so give me Tennessee give me LSU give me Georgia every single year Gator fans can handle it those are the type of games that Gator fans want to go to every single year so why did the SEC do this what they were trying to do was balance rivalries with what they would consider competitive balance and from that point of view I think that it has shaken out fairly well from for Florida from a competitive standpoint South Carolina and Oklahoma don't worry me if UF is taking care of business and the Georgia game no matter what wasn't going anywhere not only is it the biggest game on the schedule for both of those schools but it is a huge SEC battle it is something that people across the country will tune into no matter what that game isn't going anywhere but I Final thoughts think that the SEC is about to get it way wrong by eliminating that Florida and Tennessee game there's just so many Monumental moments in college football that we can look back on that are not going to happen every single year and don't get me wrong they're going to be in the rotation we're going to see them regularly but not seeing them every single year does hurt what do you guys think if this goes through do you like it do you want to see something different we absolutely will keep you updated on how this all unfolds and let you know if the SEC makes anything official and as soon as it happens we're gonna have it on here so make sure
