cfb2 video in today's video I'm going be going over green gems red gems no gems what gems truly mean and what you need to know about them cuz I feel like a lot of people have been confused about this add some five stars and some four stars to give us a good sample size here so let's start here with some of these five stars and let's just add them to the board I'll add about like maybe 10 here since we we have quite a few I made sure to pick a bigger school so I can show you guys some extra hours to really go through this and let's go to the four stars here and just add them and let's go over to our board and start to Scout and go through so when scouting as you know there are a few things to go through here so first and foremost there's red gems which hopefully you see along the way I mean with my luck I'll see nothing here but there's green gems there's red gems and there's no gem so I'm going to go through what each of those mean cuz I feel like a lot of people are very very confused about what they mean even in my own current league without trying to give people advice in my own League where I'm competing I see a lot of stakes and a lot of bad information being spread about gems and I'm not going to correct it in those leagues cuz I want to win but in this for you guys I do want to correct it so you guys can go ahead and get an advantage in your league right there we got our first green gem let's keep going through and I'm going to break down exactly what each means for each specific player and why it's so important now do keep in mind I do break these down pretty in depth in other videos so make sure you're checking out all the videos I do post it goes a long way in really understanding the full picture I can't break down every single thing to its entirety but when I mention a few things you'll understand why you may need to watch another video it's a fully grass this after the fact of course but as we go through we're getting a fair amount of gems and non- gems so you'll be able to get an idea so let's start with breaking down some players so as we go through let's take a look at some of the gems and what we have so let's go to the first guy that's red gem let's start with breaking some myths about red gems so when looking at a red gem a lot of people at a fivar red gem what I hear a lot of people say is you know yeah he may be a red gem but that's better for me I don't I don't like to I still go after red gems and the reasoning might be one of a few things their stats are still really good a five-star red gem is better than a better than a fourstar a five-star red gem is better than a three star or they'll say it's just the right tackle I don't really care it's a red I'll take red gems across the line or they might say oh their abilities are good another common misconception oh a red gem five star is really just the four star I'd rather have the festar though now the only time I ever will say taking a red gem player is good is if you're a low star school and you're try or a top tier school but you're trying to build your recruiting class and you need a lot of you need a lot of points under top classes and of course getting five stars helped with that but for actual playing purposes and development purposes not good red gem does not mean they're basically a fourar red gem does not mean they're slightly overall they're slightly lower overall five star well how I look at Red gem is their stealing is really bad now what does that mean Stars only matter just like just like Drafting and Madden right like first rounder that only matters for their starting overall that's it once they're in the league what matters next is their ceiling and their ability to develop red gems basically have a bad ceiling that is what that means and I'm going to go through this one by one so this guy right here this right tackle as a red gem may start as a 77 overall maybe a 76 overall right tackle maybe 75 can that player be starting on a top tier program or a lot of programs not really as a low low tier program maybe but that's very different in a most good programs a 75 overall cannot start so you probably want to red shirt him here's where the problem lies with a red gem a red gem almost certainly has normal Dev trade normal Dev trade is how quickly they ACR XP so if they have normal Dev trade and they don't acrew XP quickly that player can't be forced to grow by things you do basically so what that means next is you have to rely on offseason progression that can still occur here's the next thing they are stat caps you haven't watched my video on stat Caps or development traits or development guide go watch all of those after this video will give you a better understanding of each of these things but these red gems also are more likely to have bad stat caps red gems basically mean their cealing is low their floor may be high cuz they're a five star but their ceiling is low so here's the problem you get a 75 overall right tackle you right him as the season goes on maybe he goes up to 78 maybe the he goes up to 81 but pretty much he's going to reach his stat caps quickly he's going to not have a good development tradeit so basically this five star is just a player you're getting to stat pad your class he may be a depth piece forever and you're going to have to allocate 50 to 75 points hard cells visits to still secure these guys I mean people are still going to probably go after them unfortunately so unless they're absolutely free and no one's going after them the easiest things fine go for it or you absolutely need depth whatever but their ceilings are low so there's no point of bringing in a 75 overall player that may never surpass 85 that's not a good five star that's a player that's not going to like if you're program above three stars that's a player that may never see the field up until their senior year so that's not that that's not that worthwhile and then with a top program they'll never see the field with a two or three maybe one star they'll see the field almost immediately on a one star two star but it's no cealing this is not growing your program so that's the problem with red gems and their abilities right if they don't grow those abilities won't grow either they won't be able to upgrade their abilities CU they're not going to reach the threshold so their abilities are basically locked basically with red gems the way I see it what you see on this page is what you're getting the abilities they have the stats they have they're not going to go up too much so if you see a thing like oh and where this is really where I see this to be a real big deal especially lyman's like the one exception where I'm like okay I guess you could have some depth where the biggest deal is like wide receiver I see this all okay let's look at this wide receiver let's say he was a red gem you're looking at him right now and this one's pretty well built but he only has an 81 short route running his route running is not the best you definitely want him to get the 90 route running so you might say oh he's 6 5 93 speed 98 jumping this guy's actually stud if you could get him to 90 short route or 90 route running he'd be elite but he's a red gem so little do you know yeah he's never going to get there because his stat caps are probably he's probably near his stat caps and he's going to have normal development trait so basically what you have is what he's he's always going to be a clunky route running tall guy and that's fine if that's what you want but that's going to be a problem you come across like quarterbacks you may look at this quarterback that's a red gem let's say and be like okay if his throw power get up to 95 and his awareness can go a little bit up and his accuracy can get to 90 is going to be elite not really if he's a normal guy or he's a normal Dev guy and he has a little stat caps he's probably locked there now let's go to the normal Dev guys U not the normal the no star guys right that's the next thing so right here this guy is a festar Gentry he's a possession tight end we have this guy quarterback normal let's go back to him now he bet now now let's look at him at normal right we're looking at him as a red gem as a normal guy no gem this guy's very variable they could be normal Dev they could be elite they could be star what where I would say is red gem basically guarantees you bad stack caps normal Dev normal dev has a lot more variable ranges they could be elite they could be low I'd say the chances are higher that they'll be a impact or star player they're less likely to be star or Elite they're most likely going to be an impact player they could be normal but I say most of these guys are probably going to be impact Maybe Star if you're lucky and of course if you're super lucky like play the lottery lucky they're Elite Dev so that that that's that portion of it so with that being said these guys are solid I'm fine with getting normal guys all day non- gem guys that's fine five star gems are kind of hard to find and and of course these guys are fine so a guy like this has a much bigger ceiling than a normal Dev guy cuz this guy starts with the gold off platform he has good abilities he has good stuff he has good throw power good speed good everything he's not going to need a crazy amount to grow but of course you still want that cealing cuz like I said you do want the 90 accuracy you do want to get past those thresholds and get the player better so this guy has a better ceiling so as a top tier program you could recruit five stars with no gem all day all day there's no problem with that cuz they at least have a ceiling they can grow my problem with red gems is they're basically capped at where they are for the most part unless you have some insane random luck with high caps and high Deb but that's not going to happen the these normal guys have I'd say the red gems have no ceiling these guys have a good floor and a high ceiling and then where we get to the next part of this is going to be the green gems the green gems are the guys with the high ceiling so there's a guy right here that you might be looking at 94 speed 5'1 but he has places to grow but the beauty about him is that he has a green gem so he likely has star or Elite death so you can stat pad him and get a ton of skill points that's first second his stat caps are probably pretty open with pretty open stack caps what that means is and I'll show I'll show you guys what this is in case you haven't seen it yet again I have a whole video going over it so make sure to check that out it'll be a lot easier but a guy with a green gem probably has their stack caps fully open a good example of this now this is not a guy that's perfectly fully open let's say Jaylen uh galani Watkins if we go over to his ratings you see here he has a lot of open stat caps but see there's some there's some silver this is a guy that I'd consider probably a no gem guy he can get pretty high in a lot of things but there will be some stuff he's captain in there is a guy that can get to the low 90s just fine and then if you come over to a guy like Paul Perkins he's the kind of guy that you'd look at and be like okay this is a guy who could be an absolute stud you go to his ratings and you look he has basically no caps a green gem guy with like a leap Dev this is ideally what you're looking at right a green gem Guy this is what you're hoping for this is the ceiling of what you could get it's not guaranteed but basically what you're doing is you're starting with a better a better footing on foundation on the player so a green gem player should if you have the ceiling of this kind of player to get Max pass coverage almost Max Power Max pass rush Max Run stuffing max speed this is the guy you're looking for when you get a green gem this is their ceiling and their floor is just going to be an 80 plus overall five star so that's a good player at bare minimum they they could be depth or see the field rotationally at the highest peak they're one of the most elite players in college football back to Watkins their their ceiling is going to be a great starter as an as a non-gem five star that's their ceiling but the thing with Watkins is though he'll never be a 99 overall Elite guy because there are some there are some caps there so with him like I said starev he's going to be able to develop pretty quickly XP y he's going to get a lot of skill points but his ratings will cap at around a 92 93 max if we're lucky so keep that in mind with the normal guys and again that's great but you're not you're not you're not looking at that same ceiling and the red guys and this is a guy that I've used quite a lot and I know people have said one day he's going to see my channel and be very upset about himself he's a cornerback for Marshall his name is Foster this is a guy that's an example of a red gem fivar in my opinion he's not a fivar but this this is what you're looking at you're going to get a 76 overall Corner okay that's solid I'll red shirt him right he's okay 94 speed but when you look at him he's a normal Dev trait okay that's fine but he he can grow right he'll get the off season additions he'll get some skill points maybe not really skill points though because he's normal Dev and you go to his rating look at all these caps this is the guy that may cap at an 84 overall he's not he has back his hands aren't going to be high his Z mic happen like the mid high 80s his man cover is going to cap in the low 880s his run stopping is not going to be great not not that it's necessary but these are all things you're going to need to get your overall up so he's basically going to be a fast mid tier Corner that is what you're looking at with the red gems if you're okay with that as a lower tier school that's fine but as a high tier school this is a guy that would never start on Georgia as you see he's a sophomore already and he's only 76 overall that is how that development is going to work with guys like this so understand that because I see so many people making the mistake of loading up on red gems in their first two to three seasons you understand how that's going to set you back seven years cuz the first three years you're going for red gems the next 3 years are the years you're actually playing them and getting them into the system and trying to grow them by year seven you realize it was a bust and now you're coming back you're like okay time to start fresh your prestige may have dropped you may be losing if you're in an online League you really messed up your Dynasty make sure you are recruiting accordingly I try to stay away from Red gems at all costs unless they're absolutely free it's like week seven there's a festar red gem that's so unrecruited and I can just get him to Boer my class okay whatever I could do it and I could encourage him to transfer later or bench him that's fine but do not make them a priority that is such waste of your time and now furthermore to this is the lower tier players how does they how does this compare to lower tier players would you rather have a five star red gem or a three star Green Gem here's the truth honestly I'm like I said I'm not drafting red gems I'm not I'm not I'm not recruiting red gems that's my opinion but here's the thing with the green star gems some people I've heard some people say this mistake too oh you know I don't want those normal four stars I rather get those green star gems while their cealing may be higher than other players and they may grow a lot understand that their floor is so low so let's say you get a green star a green gem three star and he's a 65 overall and you red shirt him he goes up to 74 overall and then you play him and he goes up to 79 overall and then by his junior year or sophomore year he's an 83 overall understand that he went up 20 XP 20 levels that's a lot 20 levels of growth is a ton so understand that that's like the ceiling for a lot of these guys a lot of these three star green gems may never see 90 Plus plus because that's so hard the only way I'd see that happening is if you get extremely lucky with offseason you get you have the offseason packages with that you have Elite Dev or Star Dev you stat pad the hell out of them you red shirted them all that has to go right for them to be startable in their junior or senior year that's the other thing with these five stars and these these four star normals these five star normals or the greens or the green gem those guys green gem or normal will start in the loow to mid-70s or the high 7s to low 80s so those guys only need one boost to become startable their borderline start already at the 77 to 80 Mark if they get one boost like to 85 overall they're a startable player in college football and that's just the truth of the matter you can start that player a green gem if they're 65 and their red shirt season they go up to 72 and then their red shirt freshman season they're 77 and this is saying a lot of growth here and then maybe their sophomore they don't grow much they're stuck at 77 by their junior year they go up to 81 they're just barely startable there so I think Green Gem Green Gem is really appliable to the cealing of players you want top tier program should just not be recruiting many three stars they should be going for four and five stars because you need a much higher floor to start onear schools three star schools those green gems are great because they have a high they have a higher ceiling than any other player on the roster and their borderline startable at 65 to 75 our range for starting as LSU Georgia Ohio state is going to be 80 to 90 that's the range where you can start considering starters and that's just the truth of the matter so make sure you stop looking at green gems like that's a steal because that's what people are doing they're like two star three star player with the green gem that's a steal I need them over a normal four that is just not the truth that is not the case and even with the green gem you can still up with a 68 overall impact Dev guy just understand that their ceiling is high but their floor is really bad so to reach that ceiling and this isn't Madden in Madden you could take a player and you could win the Super Bowl with them and win the MVP with them and in one season a no joke a 65 overall Madden with like X Factor or Superstar Dev as a rookie 21y old can go from like 65 to 90 in one season if you win the MVP and win all the break records with them no no problem in this game matter what you do it's hard to force development especially on a low overall and you're you're hoping for offseason upgrades and other things that are involved with it so if you're if you're waiting for offseason upgrades and you get you get completely screwed you only get a total of five overalls across three seasons on the offseason upgrade and you don't do well with them in season because they're bad overalls that's just a waste of a green a green gem player so just keep that in mind when looking at gems it's their ceiling but their floor is so important depending on what program you are I hope this video helped you guys out if this did give it a big thumbs up can we get a th000 likes
