got by the way at home last year question how do we get over the hump I know you can't win a Super Bowl tonight but how does this team take that step right now just to take that next step just doing the little things right uh this this game is a big step and and where we want to go you know we're not worried about the future we're worried about the present that's all we're focused on tonight like the rest of us your defense is waiting to see what Aaron roders is going to look like tonight what are you expecting to see from him I expect him to be his great stelf that he's always been you know that's Aaron Rogers we don't know exactly what it's going to look like until we get out there I'm excited to see it thank you Fred good luck tonight got it Joe e e e e e e e e e e e e e e kickoff from Moody hits in the landing Zone and a return by Gibson Xavier Gibson had a punt return for a touchdown and overtime to win week one over Buffalo a year ago Jets had that impressive Nathaniel hacket did as far as getting the ball out of rogers's hands quickly running the ball mixing it up some of the screen game as well this one aired out and Wilson had his progress stopped by [Applause] Lenor and frustration by Aaron Rogers as Wilson stopped his route Rogers under pressure by Jordan Elliot play on on Aaron Rodgers he's you know people at home may not understand it but when you've been out of the game as long as you as long as Aaron Rogers has you want to take a hit just to kind of get back into the ball game and the feel of it tough run by Bree Hall up the middle and charvarius Ward is in there to make the stop a gain of six it's it's pretty clear though and you mentioned it earlier Joe that in visiting with Aaron roders he said hey there's two guys that we're going to feed the ball to and that's a Greece Hall he's really come along he's always caught the ball well he had a lot of catch last year but he's even more of a threat this year it's third down and four Rogers in trouble flag down and so is Rogers at the 30 PSA was the first guy there and Leonard Floyd cleaned up number 77 off that was against K Smith it's declined it's a sack this better he feels coming into this year after having had a full training camp last year he was a hold out and he said it was noticeable how he felt early in the year Co the rookie is out across the 30 8yd return as95 they look for that big Runner that one cut Runner undrafted low round draft picks K Davis was a sixth round pick went to the Hall of Fame after making the team as a special teamer here's P takes off and goes head first for 10 and a for San Francisco that's a really nice job by Brock pie once he gets out of the pock go back to what you said Joe with Bobby Turner and what he's been able to do I just think that you know they know the type of back they don't have to be high graph picks but they do have to have certain skills here's Deo right side to Midfield and it's a little bit like the offensive line when we visited with Kyle Shanahan about the offensive line group because people were talking about this group and saying well they really didn't do a whole lot to upgrade the offensive line and he said hey we'd rather spend our money on the guys who score touchdowns and we feel like this line is good enough just like last year for us to be a dominant offense and be a really productive offense not to say you can just put anybody out there you've got to get the right kind of guys but Bobby Turner and Mike Shanahan and Kyle Shanahan they approach that the same way with these running backs and they've had a lot of success doing it second down and four here's Mason good strong run first down change and and that's really key because they've been playing with these guys paying them off of Brock P's rookie contract and they're going to have to make some tough decisions after he gets paid here's Mason he's starting to get into the flow isn't he takes it down inside inside the 40 for [Applause] six got a good block from George KD who does it all at tight end and you talk about some of those names as you see Bobby Turner like Ruben drones and Tatum Bell and Mike Anderson and I mentioned Terrell Davis who's in the Hall of Fame incredible player not B Hood coming out of college but they get coached up and they're good in the system well Mike Shanahan's running game in Denver was the Envy of every offense around the NFL and the way in which they did it and Kyle's taken it and expanded it here's another good run by the undrafted Jordan Mason for a first down well Jordan Mason coming into this season in his third year he's only been averaging a couple carries a game over the first couple of years and he knew that in order to get more playing time which you'd have to believe the coaches had talk to him because they do want to start taking a little bit of the wear and tear off of Christian mcaffrey that he had to be a little bit better in certain areas he's always been a violent Runner as we just saw there but he spent a lot of time working on his catching ability had a jge machine and worked extensively this off season catches this toss a flag is thrown back behind the play CJ Mosley was dragged down it looks like this could be a holding number 68 [Applause] off it's col mcki the right tackle he got out there in a pretty good position you're going to see the short side toss and and he's leading the way and at that for you tonight but Shanahan is is such a thinker about how to put a game plan together about angles and about leverage and all these things there's a part of him that wants to win this game and prove that he can win without Christian mcaffrey and do it in a creative way to beat a really good defense well you've heard me talk about it Joe that you know I think you CJ Mosley walking off I think when you look at Mike Shanahan's tree or Kyle Shanahan's tree some of the best offensive Minds in the game today have worked with Kyle Shanahan and they're all good at game planning when start losing key guys this one is broken up and good coverage by DJ Reed as he knocked it away from Debo Samuel and the guy who makes this defense run in the middle for the Jets CJ Mosley we saw him walking off the feo early but no flag it's second and [Music] 19 cie protection wide open Jennings and a spinning catch and a first down inside the 20 you just don't see this much air in this defense that often but there was so much room in the middle of the field for Brock pie to sit back there and a great job of overcoming the penalty and picking up a first down Jennings got his contract extended he does a little bit of everything for this team here's Mason hello touchdown 49ers a flag was thrown right at the end of the play and this is coming back dvo Samuel came away arguing number one offl first down this was well downfield before Mason was getting into the end zone and wipes away a 177 yd touchdown run well Dominic Poney number outstanding job of creating the lane there's Debo Samuel at the [Applause] top boy but Debo didn't have to go to that extent Jordan Mason out there on the edge like that even if s Gardner's able to free up at all Mason's going to go right through him here's Debo you know he's fired up as he lowers his shoulder into DJ Reed and flag is down in the secondary back at the 10 on the [Applause] field here's a pass interference number 44 offense yenal so now with these flags it's used Che guilty of offensive pass interference and that wipes away that play by [Applause] Samuel now they're getting an assist from New York that because which they called on use check so they pick it up the difference in this game right now is the 49ers have not been able to capitalize when they've gotten down here they got the fumble recovery they were unable to get the touchdown they settled for the three points they got a good drive going the last time they it's stalled with some penalties they've overcome some some penalties here but this is key for this ball game Mason left side cuts up field first and goal knocked down at the two well they double team on the outside they bring the tight end in Eric sabert over here of getting that push which is all you're looking for if you're Jordan Mason he's able to move some people as well he's doing a nice job here in this first half running the ball osley a huge piece of this defense still on the bench it's first and goal Deo Jet Sweep he is in for the touchdown he almost loses the ball as he's crossing the goal line he's that's a nice drive overcoming the penalties that they had to set him back and finish it off against this good defense offensive line did a job extra point is good full 58 that overtime loss to the Chiefs Gibson and Davis wait for the kick and this one will bounce out of the back of the end zone we'll check in with Lisa stter about the guy that makes it all go in the center of that defense for jeffri who was a linebacker for the 49ers for 10 years during his playing career this is the fifth Jets Drive no first downs on three of them the touchdown Drive featured five [Applause] Hall tries the left side he's brought down by hardgrave Javon Hargrave big piece of this defense last year at seven sacks 31 years old and a nine-year pro from South Carolina state well you talked to this defensive front and the guy who's coaching them Chris cerak is an outstanding coach by all accounts and there's a good look at him and what he's meant to Nick and what he's meaning now to Leonard Floyd and all across the board you can hardly come to San Francisco and be a defensive lineman and not improve as a player because of the impact that he has Hall to the 35 and this 49er defense flying around odm made the stop a gain of two he was in Detroit koser help mold and domic Sue zigan 14 and a half sack season in 15 you mentioned Bosa Defensive Player of the Year cashed in last year these guys love him yeah they see Rogers are playing games right now with the safety it looked like it was going to be maybe a single high look and they went to the two deep and Rogers comes up and he checks out of the play changing it flag on the play Rogers spins away and throws it in the direction of con as he was under [Applause] pressure formation number 76 is not on the line of stringer that penalty's declined result to the play fourth down it's not an offside instead another illegal formation call this time against John Simpson the left guard has been a point of emphasis here through week one boy that was awfully close 22nd illegal formation call of week one 10 in week one last year backpedaling is coow and out of bounds after getting back out different guy from the one I saw last year and some of the work that he had had and just a a really explosive player but he has looked extremely good and that offensive Linate here in this first half against this Jets defensive front CJ Mosley back in there for New York leading by six pie protected floats it for K Kenn with a catch and out across the 35 there are few people have play of the game for the 49 or 26 yds to [Applause] KD here's Debo and it running back and he is back to the the line of scrimmage that's it Quincy Williams first guy in to make the stop Christian mcaffrey he'd be a pro bowl player but but he's more than that he he and it's why they made the trade you know we talked about how they've been able to get the most out of undrafted players good run by Mason Tough Run to the 45 you know you bring in a back like Christian mcaffrey and he's more than just a running back and and that's why they made that trade and he's perfect in the system but told him hey you're going to have to get some tough yards it's going to be tough sledding you got to earn every bit of it and he's had some nice Lanes but when they haven't been clean he has looked awfully good finishing off some of these runs averaging over 6 and2 yards a carry third down and three now is pie Mason first down and a good catch with Quincy Williams right there stride for obviously that is impactful for this group to catch the football coming out of the back field doing some of the things there s Gardner will'll get a report on him as to what might be aen him but Mason knew he had to get better as a receiver if he was going to see more play in time here in 24 Brandon Eckles in the game for Gardner Under Pressure Samuel makes the catch on the throw from pie and with Samuel making the grab it's gained of just three and we're coming up on the two-minute warning here in a six-point game and a second and seven for San Francisco big play to KD got it started first touch on second and seven 49ers with a ball and they get the ball to start the second half here's Debo third down coming up as Debo gets three you know Debo when we were at practice the other day he he did look leaner than what I had remembered seeing him in the past and talked to some people and they said yeah this is the lightest that that he had been in his NFL career coming into camp this year and you know I maybe if he had known he was going to be running the football in week one he he would have put on some weight instead of taking some weight off but that's there's some punishment playing that position the way that he does I mean he's such a physical player and it's why he's been able to run the ball the way that he [Applause] has timeout is granted prior to the flag for delay of game prior to the flag for delay of game timeout Sam Francisco their first of the half a 32nd timeout please set the game clock to [Applause] 11:15 on that last so they called a timeout and here is that tackle that Gardner made one not a medical issue that there is nothing wrong with him so we can find out why he's not in the game we'll let you know he did play after that play he was out there on the Debo Samuel touchdown shortly after that stop all right third down and three there he is Debo first down inside the 30 brought down by Reed but a gain of 15 well third and short you're going to get man coverage so you cie and Samuel and a well-designed play versus that man look by the Brock pie four for four on this drive under 40 to go and the 49ers with two timeouts good protection Jennings first down inside the 15 and a timeout taken by Kyle Shanahan running excellent job by Jawan Jennings as he comes off the guy I I just think he's one you know he doesn't get the headlines Nick for [Music] the retired Nick FS here's pie there's Samuel and well played by this defense and Quinn and Williams slid down to make that stop a loss of one and the final timeout is so we'll welcome you inside the broadcast Booth I'm Joe Buck that is Troy Aman uh Laura rutl down on the field Lea cters Russell jurk is just over here and no Christian mcaffrey but able to move the ball and we haven't seen a lot of pressure by this Jets defensive line getting in the face of Brock pie no I I I just think part of it is the offensive line has played well I think Kyle Shanahan's done a nice job of of mixing things up they've been able to run the football this is certainly a a big possession defensively for the Jets and not giving up a touchdown down here before the half s Gardner back out there for the Jets second down end zone now you can't make the catch it was there and Brandon iuk in his first game since the big deal could not haul it in well he had you know ball knocked out it was dropped and it's third and 10 and now a timeout called by Robert Salah and the Jets so iuk who got the four-year contract extension when we talked to Brock Pie about Brandon he said it feels pretty normal I know how he moves he's coming off the line they have GPS so they can things like those are routine for for him and yet he's just not able to make the play and you can only imagine when you haven't been in live action no more than perfectly by py to the corner now third down in 10 birie steps up End Zone not there and iuk the closest one to it well IU comes out he's trying he sees that P's scrambling and so he's going to come out of his route and get to the corner and birie saw it out of the route at the top he kind of just throttles it down and there wasn't a whole lot there but good for the New York Jets forcing this field goal attempt 31 yd Try by Moody and the seconde pro is three for three and it's a slay 81% rushes Nathaniel hack had told you there are no limitations on Aaron roders with the Achilles injury May he's 40 years old and it's going to take some time to get loose out there yeah and he's play he's facing a def leading by nine hand off to Mason had a big first half and he is stuffed on this play Germaine Johnson in there to make the stop we welcome you back inside The Possession heavy in favor of the 49ers their defense has got to make some stops and get the ball back to Aaron Rogers well they've got to make some stops I think when you look at this first half whether it's off line or the defensive front for the 49ers they they they've won you know they've been able to handle it the Jets have not been able to get the running game going to take any pressure off of Aaron roders and offensively the Jets they do need to start getting something going because you've got to believe here in week one this defense is was getting fatigued in that first half pressure on P Samuel makes the catch gets a block from use Che and has a first down Solomon Thomas a former 49er had pressure and then Deo Samuel quick throw pass is caught by KD and he's able to Lunge forward out to the 47 a gain of six Quincy Williams an all pro from a year ago made the stop well Kyle yuse he goes in motion and he is just running up the sidelines you've got to believe that someone upstairs pointed that out to Kyle Shanahan on run pass s Gardner back in there for the Jets here's Mason made the most of it third down coming up as CJ Mosley out there to make the stop a gain of one and now two players get into it that looks like DJ Reed and Jaan Jennings third and three see what started that 147 quick throw Jennings catch first down working against Michael Carter and Jennings is limping coming up after that catch the Jets bring a fivan and four elements of a hip drop tackle that that need to be present for a penalty or a fine that was pretty close here's Mason over the right side Jennings came out after that play and he's in some pain he's got three catches iuk has one and here's the end of that play and if maybe he re-aggravated it sure looks like it trying to walk it off not getting any attention at the moment second down and eight herie yuse cheek to the 40 another All Pro year for Kyle yusek in his 12th year out of Harvard a gain of six well the 49ers got away with one there because it looked to me like at least I think they did Jordan Mason looked like he was moving before the snap of the ball few yards to bring up third down and two [Applause] [Music] Mason with 77 yds on the night now over 80 and he's got another first down for San Francisco a gain of eight and this offensive line Troy's done a nice job tonight for San Francisco up I mean then he's on the linebacker level and but if you can't finish runs you're just simply not going to carry the football for Kyle Shanahan they blow this play dead in fact mcaffrey last year had over a th000 yards off 5y penalty remains first down it's against mckivitz mcaffry had over a th yards last year running between the tackles which was the most in the NFL and Mason is picking up right where Christian left off well and that's what Kyle talked about when we visited with him on Saturday that you know so much of their run game is on the edge and yes we've seen we've seen a fair amount of that here tonight but he really felt to have success running the football against this defense he wanted to force Quincy Williams and CJ Mosley he wanted to force them to make tackles between the tackles and they've done that play action pting use Che the catch first and goal well they let y cheek get away down the right Che I just think the guy's a heck of a football player and does so much offense tonight Mason well played and in the middle of it to make the stop was Jaylen Holmes who was just activated up off the practice squad the fact that the 49ers have had to settle for some of these field goals when they've gotten down here they've got a chance to open this thing up because they have continued to maintain possession of the football and they have here to start this second [Music] half second and goal Mas bobbling it but a touchdown for Jordan Mason and that caps a 70 yd drive and how they just open it up and then Jason or Jordan Mason you you have to then see the really welld designed and executed by that offensive front and those two guys on the perimeter making those key blocks Kyle Shanahan took over the together by the [Applause] 49ers and a return by Gibson Xavier Gibson broke one tackle but can't make it to the 25 he went down but they didn't blow it dead and for now they're letting the return go up to the 30 fun to watch you know good for him having a career night and couldn't be happier for him but there's a lot of people that are making it special because they've opened up some nice holes for him little play action and Hall has got a nice catch and run you know Robert solo when we talked to him I specifically asked about the run defense and whether that was a concern coming into this year now I think a lot of people look at the yardage last year and they think that they they weren't very good if you look at yards per carry they actually were better than what they get credit for but with that said when I I asked Robert Sol says when we want to stop the run we'll stop the run and they did not stop it in the first half you knew that they were going to come back with it with the success that the 49ers had and they didn't stop it on that drive either so the 49ers are having a night running the football against this defense hand off to Hall and on first down gets five Fred Warner made the stop Mike Williams signed a one-year deal former charger coming off a torn ACL in the first half was involved in four snaps so they are easing him back in and we have not seen much at all of number 18 in his new Jets uniform no we haven't and and we haven't seen anything from alen Lazard either he dropped a ball earlier and and this was going to be kind of his remerging game after the last season and the struggles that he went through but he's yet to have a catch play action from Rogers again pressure off the edge and the pass is broken up and now picked off intercepted by fling and fouls after the tip by Lenor a flag is down on the sideline it came in late de commodor Lenor knocked it up into the air and fling and fouls made the diving interception field is an interception after that play was over unnecessary roughness number 99 of the intercepting Team 15 yards will be enforced from the end of the play first down time out they call the penalty on Malik Collins after the interception Lenor made the play Rogers throws the pick 49ers coming off five straight scoring drives last three were all long drives here's pressure and this pass for KD he and Pie cannot connect and we go back to the interception yeah it's never just working in unison and this defense under Nick senson firsttime defensive coordinator they have really been balling tonight here is Mason on second and 10 carrying tacklers for a first down look like Maron Lynch That's like I said there's no disguising this offensive line is a lot of good stuff happening Mason Cuts back meanwhile for the Jets Hassan reic is still the lone holdout across the NFL Bryce Huff left the Jets signed a three-year deal with Philly coming off a career-high 10 sacks we'll see the Philadelphia Eagles next week at home against the Falcons on Monday Night Football they make the deal with Philadelphia to get reic knowing that reic wanted a new deal in the final year of a three-year contract they have not been able to come together they've really not been communicating at all reic wanted a trade at one point and that is just sitting there as perie throws too high for used Che it'll be third down and eight so sitting there and when we talked to Robert Sal about it said I haven't talked to him he held out hope late in the week he'd be here here for week one but he's obviously not here third down and eight pie over Joe so much of the damage tonight has been right between the tackle I mean they're just coming straight at them and they've been moving bodies and picking up a lot of yards say it again Kyle Shanahan telling us ideally 35 to 40 runs between the T T Les we're going to take it right at [Applause] him and this is an offense and a head coach very familiar with the defense that Robert Salah runs with the Jets here's Mason breaking two tackles but then the Jets rally and a gain of three let's send it down to Lisa yeah Joe getting back to Hassan reic reic has already been fine more than $2 million dollar for being a no-show at training camp and will now forfeit about $800,000 for each game that he misses defensive tackle tackle quinnon Williams the leader of the Jets D told me he hasn't spoken to reic either he said we've just got to win without him right now two sacks tonight by the Jets this one is broken up and a nice play by Tony Adams I tell you that's a brock pie really fortunate that that ball was high because even if even if it's not touched making a play 53 yard Try by Jake [Music] Moody and Moody hits the upright and Banks it in is starting to run out here on the Jets after that outstanding third possession touchdown drive and we've seen really nothing since Nick senson late 100 Brandon Boyd Val Kilmer also Val Kilmer but a shout out to Kip parue who played Ronnie bass in sunshine and Remember the Titans here's Garrett Wilson on first down and a little bit of something for the Jets G of six well tonight he's Nick senson and he and Nick Sorenson's done a heck of a job getting this defense ready to go I mean they have won the battle up front and now you you watch this Jets offense and and are they built to come back in a game like this against this pass rush you know they got improved offensive line for sure what a throw What A Catch and there's Lazard so he had the early drop but this was laid out there beautifully by Rogers for 26 need Lazard because without Mike Williams a guy who can go make a lot of those contested catches he's only really got Garrett Wilson Williams is out there one of the rare sightings of the night for big number 18 not a part of that way as Bree Hall gets two well Mike Williams you go back to last year prior to that injury he he tore his ACL in the third week of the Season he had 19 catches at that point so he was off to a huge start in 2023 before he had that unfortunate injury and it's been very limited in Camp hasn't been practicing a whole lot they could sure use him and really anybody who's eligible getting down the field making a play for Aaron roders second down and eight Rogers back pedaling and a drop by Bree Hall he's fumbled tonight and that one right in his hands couldn't haul it in Hall one of the young stars of this league and his you're looking at third and [Applause] eight maybe four down territory here if they don't pick it up I would think so they're going to get a free play Rogers is the master at it and a touchdown by Lazard nobody in the league has thrown more touchdowns on free plays than Aaron Rogers 56 defense penties they're going for two you can read his lips but he made Floyd come then who his vertical is and it's Alan Lazard and just a perfect throw is over 20 yd down field when he has it and that was good from 36 two-point try Hall lunging and he's short deodor Lenor came down and made the stop he was not alone and this stays kicks it away it lands inside The Landing Zone and goes into the end zone rushing just between the tackles alone so they've been running right into the teeth of this defensive group and they've had a lot of success with it so because that ball off the foot of zerline landed in the landing Zone and then went into the end zone for a Touchback this is old school where it comes out to the [Applause] 20 Mason Mosley gain of one yeah so now you mentioned it Joe the last six times the 49ers have had the ball they've scored so this Jets defense they they've got to come up with a way to make a stop you know they did there knowing the 49ers are going to want to run the ball and wind this clock down and it will create some opportunities as we move into this fourth quarter with for Brock pie to get some one-on-one looks with Brandon IU Debo Samuel George KD big toss birie over the middle and he's got Jennings good to see him back in the game after limping off earlier he's got another first down and 15 yds for number 15 well the action in the back field you're going to see the impact that it has then and why there's no rush you see there it affects the defensive line he sits back there finds the open man [Applause] first down for San Francisco with their own [Applause] 36 coming up on the end of the third quarter hope we walk out of that game with Jason Kelsey as a part of ESPN and they don't just hang on to him and not let him go yeah they just might too but I think he can take care of himself he's kind of enjoying this TV job yeah he's a natural got a face for it just slid right in here is Mason over the right side and he drew a crowd and there's Ricky peol we're going to hear from Laura in just a moment but he's on the reserve nonf football injury list shot in the chest during an attempted robbery is uh on the men and hopeful to come back after four games Laura coming up after the second and eight herie Samuel the catch the turn and there he goes Deo down inside the 35 26 yards after Ashton risk and so you've got Debo Samuel he beats you on the out route you're not able to get him to the ground and this George KD guys who can make people Miss just like that and turn in what would have been a minimal gain into a significant play that's as a team here's KD and well played by Chuck Clark here's Laura Joe I spoke to Ricky peaw pregame and with the biggest r on his face he said I feel like I could get out there and suit up right now and I wish that I could he's dealing with a lot less pain now and his wounds are healing perfectly he said he said it's been great for his perspective he now appreciates life so much more than he ever did but what's been so amazing about this he told me is the Outreach he's received from so many he said I never would have imagined the love that I would feel he's tried to get back to as many people as possible but certainly the most love coming from his own 49ers team yeah no doubt about it his mom and dad his dad Ricky senior his mom Aaron both athletes at Northern Arizona as Mason Carries On Second and eight and the Jets defense steps up a gain of two well I'm looking forward to seeing him when he comes back in plays because you know he's been banged up he he hurt his shoulder in college he came into Camp he reinjured it he had some other injuries that limited his practice time prior to the shooting but the times that he was able to get on the field he was everything they thought that he was and he has that 49er mentality and he knows the way in which he's supposed to practice how to do it I just think you know he's going to be another one of those really good finds by this 49ers organization and he's going to have a nice career you can just feel it Spencer berford is taking over a left guard for the 49ers here's one to auk able to get the feet down and a nice throw and catch to Brandon auk down inside the 15 far in his ability to re direct and run routes by a lot of people but he lays it out there with people in his lap and throws a perfect ball to IU 49ers have run twice as many plays in this game as the Jets that's what Robert Salah was talking about getting a stop getting the ball back to their offense here's Samuel and he is tripped up with no gain DJ Reed made the Stop and he's well I was going to say yeah so they got the quick passing game going getting the ball out of rogers's hand fast and and getting some easy complet ition right now there's a night for Aaron Rogers 14 of 20 one touchdown one in yards and right now one pretty big hill to climb as the officials shut this play down after replay assist it is an incomplete pass so now they're taking the first down away on the catch by gared and what a good start to this drive for the 49ers Adams missed a tackle and a 23 yd carry by Jordan Mason who's now well over a 100 has the ball on his right arm he probably gets the first down it's in his left arm it hits the sideline first and and he comes up short and by all accounts it was the right spot the the throw it he had him I mean Wilson was Wilson had a step and it looked like a throw that was just behind Wilson and yams able to come in and you know whether there was contact with the hands before the ball and all that but they didn't have any success on third in short picking that up they go to the air on fourth down and now it's 49ers ball and a second down and seven with over six to go in a 16-point [Applause] game toss to Mason one-on-one with and DJ Reed climbs aboard and goes on a 5yd run I mean I don't know if we can say enough about what this 49ers offense has done the offensive line was a big question mark coming in a lot of people didn't think they had done enough to address it you've got Trent Williams who obviously is all world who missed all of camp they're getting after this vaunted defensive front and they're doing it without Christian mcaffrey I mean it's it's just amazing what they've been able to accomplish here tonight and Jordan Mason in the night that he has had well big Trent Williams back out there for the 49ers Isaac gendo fourth round pick from Louisville rookie is out there but for the most part it's been Jordan Mason who's carried the ball more times tonight charge San Francisco than he has since high school the weekend and the Thursday game job he's done with that Dallas defense they look great at Cleveland they looked outstanding just an exceptional win against what everyone believes is going to be a quality opponent in the Cleveland Browns C and trouble gets to the ground and out of the zone of Michael Clemens who was bearing down on it you know so a big win for the Cowboys on the road and week one I don't care it's yes it's one of 17 they all count the same it just feels like week one always feels a little bigger and means a little more because of how much time you put into it but the big wins in my opinion Joe were the Chiefs Eagles and lions to have big wins against opponents that everyone expects to be in contention in the postseason those are huge games to start their years 42 yd drive for Moody what Bowl that for the 49ers I mean they've been in the NFC champ game for the Last 5 Years they've been to two Super Bowls that's not the goal it's it's getting it done finally and uh this is a good first step without their big weapon on offense in mcaffrey here's Hall and a nice Carry Out near Midfield well and and we've been asked and I know and they win so the first step really in doing that was getting Trent Williams and and Brandon auk signed they've done that because as we alluded to earlier once they have to pay pery they're going to have to make some really tough decisions on a lot of people but on the other side of this this has been a humbling night for the new New York Jets Taylor takes the high snap and is able to get it to Conlin First Catch of the night for the veteran tight end and a gain of six you know training camp Robert solah talked about how they he worked the guys harder more reps than they ever had you know very optimistic and obviously playing on the road against the team of the caliber of the 49ers is is hard to do but it's fair to say we all expected a better outing and a better ball game from them than what we got tonight first down for the Jets when we talked Aaron Rogers about Tyrod Taylor never had a backup that can still play like this he's a veteran and he's showing a little something of what he can do as we come up on the two-minute warning here in the ball game Taylor protected floats it and how that wasn't picked off by charvarius Ward I don't know as it was there for the taking and Ward will be thinking about that when he goes found a way Jordan Mason 28 carries 147 yds a touchdown Jake Moody tying a club record with six field goals made and 49ers with eight straight scoring drives it's impressive wasn't always perfect but it's impressive no and you talked about that this is the most carries that Jordan Mason has had since high [Applause] school here's Garrett Wilson on first down and a minute and a half to go you know I know he had some carries in in pre-season and all that but still not to this extreme and he's going to be good and sore tomorrow morning and this week and that's going to be the best soreness he's ever had and there's a look at Brian greasy the quarterback coach for the 49ers talking with Brock pie Taylor keeps it alive gets away from the sack and a flag flies at the end of the play after a first down catch by Garrett Wilson you see an official without a hat that means he was out of forward pass number five offense that player went out of bounds returned inbounds and was the first to touch the pass the penalty is enforced as a loss of down at the previous spot third down so now third down and short with a minute six to go Wilson and Rogers good on that third possession that some of them take the ball down the field get it into the end zone They had the free play and a touchdown to Lazard and those are the highlights tonight here's Lazard first down to the 10 tell you think about this New York Jets team you know here they are on the west coast next week at Tennessee it's uh going be a pretty quiet flight start with three games a little bit of everything but not enough sustained success and the defense couldn't make any stops when they had to here is Taylor down inside the five with under a minute to go and the big thing too is they just uh they they couldn't get Bree Hall going either on the ground and and really just take any of the pressure and then in addition to all that they they just failed to make key stops defensively get off the field on third down and the 49ers dominated The Trenches Bosa still out there trying to get a sack here is one for a touchdown to Lazard is second of the night and with under half a minute to go a pretty good drive put together by Tyrod Taylor year he's bounced around but as Aaron Rogers told us he can soft corner and put it on [Applause] teammate 25 seconds left in the ball game Taylor floats it out of the back of the end zone Gibson the target you know we show Rogers clapping and and you can tell by his demeanor game I mean he'll be you know as a quarterback especially a guy who's been that hey we knew this was going to be a tough road game to open up against what most people believe I do for sure that you know this is the strongest team in the NFC going into this year and you know it's one of 17 see if we can't bounce back on a short week and get ready to play and go win a game they have if you look at the records from a year ago last season the fourth easiest schedule in air quotes this season that's the beginning of it at Tennessee as Troy said earlier against New England against Denver at Minnesota they'll see their former quarterback Sam darnold who looked outstanding in yesterday's win against the Giants in that one and this drive but an impressive start here tonight and he may now have a one-w punch at run back when maccaffrey gets healthy with what an impressive night there's
