two quick topics man one uh Mike Florio is speaking on Kurt cousin again it's not a surprise uh he's asking a crazy question about Kurt cousin the Michael Panic or how should they start season at quarterback now we all know that Kurt cousin had to kill his injury and it's going to be tough to come back from uh with his age but he says he feels greater I trust that uh we saw Michael pen get held out of the final two preseason game which uh to me um it's kind of a red flag could Kurt Cousins still be uh on demand uh could Michael Penn start week one I don't think so but hey stranger things have happened second of all production from bjn Robinson they speak on that as well so we going to get into both of those topics right quick but let's get this thing rolling right quick man not going to keep yall alone the ankle feels good so U uh that's all good and um yeah I'm I'm working back I uh I sprinted on that deal and they told me I was at 18 miles an hour and I'm trying to it's like breaking the sound Berry I'm trying to break 19 miles an hour I'll never they give out t-shirts if you can break 21 and I said that's not fair because you guys have this club that I'll never be able to join so they're really cool t-shirts too but they said they have a group chat and everything and I can't get in so I said but I'm going to start my own group for people who break 19 miles hour who can't get to 21 miles hour so I broke it 19 before my point is just coming off the injury I got to get back and break it again because I'm still hanging out in the 18s oh he's looking kind of jacked I mean who do you think he is with that sleev the shirt Derek Carr ha not already he's working on his whatever he's doing it's whatever he's doing it's working yeah hey you know you couldn't you couldn't uh do many squats maybe with the torn ailles he started focusing on the curls for the girls as they say my goodness yeah Kurt Cousins looking jacked changed his diet free before and that's great that he's able to Sprint and that's get from the Falcons fans he's sprinting at practice sprinting at practice is still different from going out and playing full contact football when your body is moving in all possible directions and you doing change of Direction you're planting your foot and it's moving and we saw what happened last year you physically and Visually could see the snapping of the tendon violently in the back of his leg so running straight line is one type of pressure that you put on this injured area planning and moving in cleats I mean CLE run you know everything changes when you put cleats on and you're out there on that Turf that doesn't really want to give and there why would they tell us we've seen enough for what for what we've seen enough we know we know he'll be perfectly sitting on the bench he's shown as he's prepared to not play it makes no the more I think about it the less sense it makes we've seen enough from him I don't know what they're planning but what do you need to see from guy they not yours right I don't know I don't I mean I don't really know the answer to that if it were me and I I the thing I I go back to with this situation is well Rheem Morris comes from Los Angeles right with the Rams Rams don't play anyone of significance in the preseason that's why STS and Bennett has gotten all these snaps when Jimmy Garoppolo is the backup I mean that they're getting him ready to be the backup no no the first two weeks garoppolo's suspended they're getting him ready to be the backup well they're they're getting him ready to be the backup but he would be the one playing anyway because Jimmy Garoppolo wouldn't be playing because he's the backup of significance which is why but the the point of what I'm trying to make here like that that's the explanation that I can come up with for why the Falcons are doing the things that they're doing they try to put things in uh stressful controlled environments they had a scrimmage on Wednesday it's part of what Kurt Cousins was talking about in his presser too you know they felt like they got really good work in that scrimmage but there to to your point I mean Michael Pennock is not a Young quarterback coming into this league it's not like he's 2021 you know he's 23 24 whatever he is is he's got a lot of experience he's like B Nixon that way he probably would be ready to start as a rookie in most situations but that's not the situation he's in so I think it probably would in this situation behoove the Falcons to say yeah he's uh he's the backup and we know that and he is a player of significance but we should probably play him anyway because when the hell else is he going to play that's the approach I would take to it it's not the approach the let me say this right quick man um I get where they're going with this uh but you have to understand injuries can happen what if Kurt Cousins go down with a major injury again and somehow Mike pennis get hurts in the preseason and we back to square one again and that's exactly what they're thinking about you heard Rah Morris when he was talking to K Adams the other morning about uh what he shown uh in those snaps that he had against Miami that he's ready uh they see him every day in practice he's still working uh in training camp to be sharp at uh reading defenses be sharp at being cohesive with his wide receivers his tight ends uh his receivers running backs and you know just everybody in general uh so we may not understand what the Falcons are doing about holding Michael Penny out but but again if he gets hurt in preseason and Kurt Cousins go down the regular season we back at square one and somebody loses their job so you got to be smart about these things um if they don't understand that's fine as long as the Falcons understand because guess what even though he says he's uh feeling better guess what ailles they tear back real easy uh the injury occurs easier than it does the first time because it's surgically repaired so I really I'm really not at all mad about Mike compin is not playing Kurt Cousins says he's 100% And my expectation for Kurt cous in 2024 uh is to be consistent lead this offense um and make the Falcons a dynamic High scorer offense it's my only expectation for uh Kurt cousin the Falcons are taking to it and that's the approach that they've got to live with there's a lot of curious stuff that's happened with the Atlanta Falcons obviously and this is just one of them and that's what makes it harder to discern what they're doing because they've already done irrational unpredictable stuff so those of us who are mostly rational have a hard time figuring out what is coming next but as I said earlier this week and I've seen and it really is on one hand it's flattering that these aggregation sites are taking our content and slapping a few tweets from some random incels onto the back end calling me out and then but we know how this goes we know how he I'm sorry watch we we've been in we've we've been residing in that make the program that's all so anyway what's right here in the sheet but anyway anyway um what am I saying um what's my point I had a point oh oh I mean they call it a crazy conspiracy theory I don't think it's a crazy conspiracy theory to say they're they're getting ready to play this guy and they're going to say that Kirk Cousins isn't 100% and we're going to give him a couple of weeks and we're going to let Michael P play while Kirk Cousins gets all the way to the point where we're comfortable and then if penx plays well penx keeps playing it gives you the perfect cover to bench the rookie quarterback because you're not benching him Kirk Cousins is ready to go I don't think that's all that crazy especially when if I would have said before the draft f are see a crazy conspiracy theory so man this is about be Robinson and how they feel like he should be uh turning the corner in year two which I agree uh but let's listen and then I give yall my thoughts for me it's bejon Robinson just because there was so much hype he was the first running back taken there was the ID he's a can't miss Superstar they never used him as much as they should have there was that weird game where he was sick but they didn't disclose Buccaneers the Falcons all got in trouble for it I just feel like it's not about him as much as it's about the circumstance he wasn't fully utilized last year will he be fully utilized by the new coaching staff in 2024 but I think regardless of what's to blame for last year we all expect more from bejan Robinson in 2024 because we didn't get it in 23 yeah exactly and that's something that Zack Robinson their a new offensive coordinator who came with Rahe Morris from the LA Rams has certainly got to do a good job of how do we utilize this guy because he should be one of the better skill players in the National Football League right and that that offense should be good it should be good you got Drake London you got Kyle pittz you got Robinson you got a quarterback and Kirt cousins who's a veteran and knows how to distribute the ball if that offense isn't good something's wrong going to 2024 he should be one of the better BS in the league he should put up a th yards he should put up 500 receiving yards he should have double digit total touchdowns and they have the right pieces in ride him to do that and if your expectation for BJ Robinson not taking another step this year um watch another sport because like I said he was held back by Austin Smith and his inconsistent play calling he was held back by mediocre quarterback play he was held back um because by the time Ritter or any other quarterback step back in the pocket and them not moving the ball down the field they stack the box and feel the off feel the F the gaps and guess what bej could not beat bej you saw flashes those first five games I think in the first six or seven games he had two games over 100 yards and we saw in those two games how great he could be so now you add a quarterback that can distribute the ball well uh you add more weapons on offense such as the Darnell Mooney um you still have Tyler air uh who would be a goal line guy who could be a third down and short guy and that could enhance bejon Robinson's Effectiveness in the past game because remember he had 58 catches as a rookie so we know in that aspect of the game as well he can be a difference so I think uh expect anything less uh than eight about 17 to 2,000 total yards from bejan uh is to me a failure and that falls back on the coaching staff but in this offense as to what Zack Robinson is going to try to do uh and what Kurt Cousins is used to uh there's no reason why bej Robinson cannot be one of the best backs in the league and to be honest I would pick him in my fantasy league uh probably first because I feel like he can make that big of a difference but that's my quick thought on that man
