multiple players coming in I've been trying to find more of who they brought in you have Trace Jackson Davis and you have cavon Looney but they want somebody else so what will bur Tern bring to this long streak this offseason we kept Looney we had the option to cut him and we would have saved $3 million on the SAR cap but no we brought him back in to be the backup you see him right there in the middle so cavon Looney is here and you know what he knows that he needs to probably a bit more a agile and see what he can do he's always been great on the pick and rolls been a pretty good Defender but last year he looked a bit slower so this might help him be able to keep up with the Wes of the world the chats the world we'll see so do you like seeing this new look Looney because people are coming for his spot again as I mentioned davus Burton has been offered a chance to work out with Golden State Warriors for a potential training camp invite if you don't know about him uh let me just show you some of these highlights before we really dive into it so give me a second let me get this dude is a three-point specialist he doesn't offer much coming off the on the defensive side but he'll make a three look at this he's in Steph Curry range with the man in his face hand up four-point play this was half a decade ago on the Wizards not as perfect but he fits the mold of a Warriors player he can shoot threes he can extend the floor at 610 he provides that tall man length again Warriors don't like a just a seven foot big man or Andrew Boga type someone who's just yon this found contract now is that that accurate according to Dalton Johnson a Warriors reporter this picture of beran's age so it was so was Bin's agent posted on Instagram earlier say berin has been invited to work out the Warriors but no Camp invite has been provided multiple veteran free agents have been brought in every week Bert hands a good name to watch so the agent is saying you know what he is uh coming to the Warriors dton Johnson saying whoa whoa whoa hold your horses that's not true now fans I would say he's a good fit to where the Warriors W to be extending the three-point line a big man who can shoot something that Trace Jackson Davis cannot do say I'm a big man shooting from three Kavon Looney a big man shooting from three it's kind of that death lineup that the Warriors had where it was KD Draymond Steph clay in Wiggins you don't have that big man but I mean Draymond cannot shoot threes at the time but anybody on the floor is really a threat in some capacity not just a big man in the post bertans is that type of player now he's a defensive liability though nicknamed the laian laser because he can shoot he appeared in 43 total games during the 20123 2024 season with both OKC and the Hornets he's a career 39% shooter from deep and enters his ninth NBA season in search of a roster spot potentially with the Warriors we certainly could use another scoring option now again folks what does this mean ninth NBA season right now we have four at one roster spot open and we have a couple training camp spots open we cannot sign him to a two-way contract as you see in the bottom because he's been been with the in the league for nine Seasons Four Seasons are below is two-way contracts so You' have to come in at the 15th spot but he's making above the $500,000 which is um well below the NBA veteran minimum so he can't be signed there meaning he would have to get a training cam contract prove himself to the team and you either have to cut someone on the main roster to make space for him that's how he would come in scouting report high volume three-point SHO 6 ton Lightning Fast release laan laser near impossible to get a good contest on him just like KD very high release Point huge transition numbers thanks to the three-point looks he gets in the secondary break onedimensional offensive player does not have other skills to counter after his three-point shot thin frame little athleticism not big game changer exploited on defense can't stand the court and that's the biggest thing often exploited on defense to the point he can't stay on the court that is why someone who's a 40% three-point shooter at 610 is not on the NBA team right now he's a defensive liability you can't trust him in the crunch time maybe he's a back roll bench player but if he's on the floor and he can't play defense well then you have to take him off the floor because the other teams will just keep going and going and going after him looking at his averages started with the Spurs and then over to the Washington Wizards Mavs OKC and Charlotte look at this three-o percentage middle of the screen averages around 40% a season and he's putting up between three to five shots a game on average especially in that middle part of his career in the prime 43% from three as a spur in 2018 2019 42% from three and with the Wizards and that's gone down a bit had a down year in 2122 it's picked the backup shot basically 40% from three last year impressive now look at the number of games playing he doesn't really start in his past three seasons 45 15 28 before that 22 34 hasn't played three fours of the Season since basically he was with the Spurs you look at his rebounding averaging two a game at 610 is not good at all his free throw percentage as a good three-point shooter is pretty high so this to me is a bit concerning you're 610 you can shoot three but you're not playing games meaning you're hurt or they're not getting you on the court because they don't trust you out there that is something to be aware of and that's why it comes down to like you got to be able to play defense and if you can't and you can shoot threes you won't see yourself on the court now Golden State Warriors ball report their idea here Burton's defensive skills are lacking as we talked about despite his Elite three-point shooting Warriors need a player who can shoot and defend so what about Jay Crowder he's a very mixed shooter I'd rather have Burton as a shooter but a better Defender Robert cumington we know what he did on Philadelphia was a pretty good shooter Marcus Morris hasn't played that much been more of a reserve player other players like that Reggie Bullock would be a better addition now I think actually when you look at what the Warriors need I think Jay Crowder brings that desire that hungry that you need comington I'm not oppos to having Burton come on this team but defense is a Hallmark Jerry stack house can he get him to play better defense at this point of his career probably not if you looking for someone as a warrior a stretch five stretch big four who can make threes fits that mold great when you look at the roster that we have again you look at our big men Trace Jackson Davis cavon Looney he brings something different to that team Bruno the Brazilian brought something different to this team so you can see they're trying to find a shooting big man someone who's not a just a stand in the paint don't stand in the paint rebound get beyond the three-point art make shots put pressure on the defense put pressure in transition if they could
