it's the venue that's had plenty of success come through it since the mid-2010s as well as a few Lombardi trophies it's D field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City that's going to be taken in at the eight and look at this return and he's brought down the offense will come onto the field play action on first down go get this one to Brown and he's going to get sto right around the 45 yd line it's a gain of 22 and the Chiefs are going to have a first down if they get a handful of these types of plays per game pass game coordinator is going to be one happy camper One play in and this drive is already in the enemy territory they'll run here on first down and that's good yardage with a new set of downs this offense will take that from their ground game every time but I know because I've been around this league a long time runs like that they're really hard to come by it takes everybody and maybe a little breakdown there on defense too to take advantage of they've got first down from the 31 out of the gun they'll give it to him inside and they make the tackle at the 28 yd line it's a gain of three for him that brings up second and [Applause] [Applause] seven from the 28 quick hitter complete and this one does not go far the rookie from Michigan there that time well that's a modest little drag route but if you ever just need a safe short gain on a throw that's a go-to route to Target chance Mo the chains here on third and four here's [Applause] Ms it's tipped away and he's going to hit the ground incomplete Defender winning that rep that brings up fourth down you know as a QB I'm going to note that in the back of my head that was a heck of a break knocks the ball away DBS like that they tend to once they get one hand on the ball have a pretty good beat on you and can get two hands on it the next time and that one is good a little longer but no problem at all and the opening drive of the game ends in three points you'd expect him to make most of those attempts from this distance but it's never a lock so they'll happily take this and finish off the drive with points and in the end he's able to get it to what used to be a Touchback it's at the 25 after the return back now pressure on its way able to hit Palmer complete reaches the 40 hits the 20 and he will score touchdown Los Angeles the Chargers pull ahead 6-3 in the first there sure was a lot of trust on that play Brock and he proved worthy of it with that end result yeah good old receiver someone who just knows how to get it into the end zone is worth his weight in goal to a QB and on that throw there was trust there that he had a shot to find P that one splits the uprights and they'll continue adding to their lead Dicker all lined up and ready to boot it away that's going to be taken in at the eight and a decent return ends as they bring him down inside the 30 and the drive will start out with a first and 10 to the air Ms short pass caught by his tight end and he's short of the first after a mile gain you get this big old dude like him in the slot it's an automatic mismatch Advantage you're train a little bit of speed sure you sure do get a lot of size and anytime he's in the slot you got to assume the ball's going his way after a good pickup they've got second and four throwing now off play action got a man Open complete and he does quite a bit of damage before they finally take him down we always hear about a tight end as a quarterback's best friend that play is so indicative of it Kate you love a big Target and you know if you could hit him in stride he's got a chance to get some big yards after the catch now they'll hit the line just outside the Red Zone following that big play Ms he's got it at the six and they will score touchdown Kansas City the teams hold a slim two-point lead early it's a mares Brown touchdown so an absolutely beautiful throw there finding his man in space who turns it into six yeah they really took advantage there Kate of some soft coverage you want that on that corner route plenty of space for that route to develop great execution and it pays off with the touchdown that one right down the middle and they'll continue adding to their lead buter on now to kick this one away this one's fielded at the four yd line and that's where they'll begin the drive following the return they're out and set first and 10 option give here and he found some Running Room for a nice game pick up of eight on the run and that sets up second and two so much to like about that run Kate particularly when he was able to get out of it the defense I think feels a little fortunate they were able to track him down before an even bigger run in Crossing that first down marker and he's got a free play here got a man coverage lost him complete at the 20 and he's brought down but there's some laundry on the field he saw someone jump took the free play deep Brock and that gets them a much bigger play than the penalty would have running it after the penalty and the defense gets there to force a small L it's the end of the first in this AFC West showdown just a field goal separates these two back to Arrowhead in just a moment Chargers ball as we get back for the seconds and they are thinking points they'll try and punch it in and the defense waiting for him at the line and he goes down backto back stands at the goal line and now it's third and goal well now things get a little dicey for this offense one down left before a big decision to make you continue to try running it against a front that stopped you are you now forced to put the ball in the air throwing with a blitz on the way and he will score touchdown Los Angeles the Chargers take a second quarter lead well they definitely wanted to get that one out quick Brock they did just that and it ends in six we hear it all the time but it is so true Kate this is a game game about matchups and when you see a throw that quick it really was determined pre- snap it was great design and tremendous execution that one splits the uprights and they'll continue adding to their lead Dicker all lined up and ready to boot it away his return stuck to the five and he's brought down the offense will come onto the field Drive starts out with a first and 10 looking to throw Ms he's on the Move he's running with it a lot of grass ahead that one goes for 25 yds and it'll be first down Kansas City obviously a defense wants to take away all the reads and prevent any kind of big throw for the first down Fine well this QB he'll just lower his head and gash the defense with one of the biggest runs of the game one play in and this drive is already in enemy [Applause] territory on first down now run and he drives that front backward on a gain of four you know that's a good run right there to keep the offense on schedule if he can average that type of yards per carry this guy's going to be more than all right with letting him lead the show second and Six coming up here [Applause] from the 42 complete out to the right and he's going to be taken down a yard shy of the 25 that one goes for 17 yards and moves the chains well that's a game that has its roots in preparation during the week that's Monday Tuesday Wednesday kind of stuff identifying ways to Target the coverage and creating opportunities for big completions [Applause] [Applause] throwing is momes catch made and he goes down so they're set up with a nice first and goal as we've reached our two-minute warning this entire play Kate depends on how well he could separate from his man you get man-to-man coverage is really about two things separation and Trust because QBs want to throw it before he breaks that's the trust and then they got to believe that that separation could create the big play down the field first down from the red zone and they will score touchdown Kansas City the Chiefs get some late points and the lead so brought good work there to finish off the Drive In The End Zone and retake the lead you just get this feeling every once in a while in games this sucker is going to be a back and forth football game so what a great job offensively to jump out in front here in the first half of play that one right down the middle and they'll continue adding to their lead [Applause] buter on out to kick this one away return coming from the six and he's brought down the offense will come onto the field offense ready to begin this drive first and 10 Herbert t then reels in a shallow throw give him 15 yds on the pickup there and the Chargers will have a first you know they really love that drag route because he's one of those guys that can count on not only to make the catch but create after the catch if they don't close on him quickly he can add a lot of yards before someone tracks him down shotgun snap looking to throw that one's three right side and he's tackled after getting this to the opposing 46 timeout called by the Chargers they're first they'll have two left to work with before [Applause] [Applause] halftime new set of downs for him from the 46 back to throw here's Herbert man pmer has it and they get there to take him down right around the 41 the goal of running that drag route is to get it to him for at least a minimal gain with space to add after that picked up a good chunk and there was nearly room to add even more Chargers hurrying to the line as the seconds tick away from the 41 this Ball's CAU by Palmer and he's going to be brought down at the 35 yd line La uses a timeout here it's second and they still have one in their pocket for what's left of this [Applause] half they're set up at the 35 now they are throwing it again and his perfect start is over that's the first one his throws to wind up incomplete perhaps a bit late breaking towards the ball but still just enough time to get a finger on it and knock it away couldn't connect on first it's second down Herbert now that throw finds Johnston and that tackle stops him after a solid gain third and six for them to figure out now now Herbert to throw Johnston brings it in and he'll get this inside the 10 to the nine the Chargers call a timeout that's their last one and that's all they've got for What Little remains of this half the Chargers sending out Dicker the kicker to add three to the board very short kick here from the right hatch and it is good no problems there on the shorter attempt that's the half here in this one all tied up thanks to that late field goal now we'll get you down to our Orlando studios for the EA Sports Hal time Report with Jonathan kman his return starts at the five finds some space he's past the 30 and it's a nice return here they'll tackle him shy of the 35 to throw Herbert that one is incomplete couldn't hang on through the contact Defender not going to be thrilled the catch was almost made on his watch but more importantly he breaks it up gives him a chance to do a little John after the play Lets the other guy know he roughed him up and cost him that catch so after the incompletion here comes the second down call here's a give inside to Edwards and they limit this to a minimal gain to around the 34 only a yard for him that time so now third nine you know not a ton of yards but still showing that commitment to the ground game the type of run that keeps the defense from loading up in coverage and focusing entirely on that passing game third and long for him here he's got it room to run and that will not be enough for a first down you can earn your money in the NFL in all sorts of different ways but defensively in a league where you're just not hitting as much a training camp you're not tackling as much as they got to in the old days when you can make a play in the open field keep it short like that I promise you some money will follow so on fourth down here's J K Scott on to putt it away for the [Applause] Chargers and oh just a hair too much on that kick the punt lands in the end zone this one's coming out to the [Applause] 20 now they'll throw out of the gun to left sideline complete it's a 23 yd pickup on the play and the Chiefs are going to have a first down well that one was drawn up and delivered beautifully efficiently if it's not circled on the call sheet already you better believe it is now a jolt to start that drive they're up near the 45 yd Line running up the middle p and is's charged towards the line that's right around three yards you know they got some positive yards that's a good thing but too many plays like that it just is too hard to pile together get first downs it gets the better defenses in this league second down now seven to [Applause] go from the 46 Defender arrives right as the ball does and the hit knocks it free incomplete is defense you got to see the pass you got to time up your hit and you got to jar that ball loose not a lot of offensive players are hanging on to that one through a well placed hit last pass unsuccessful and they have third down here here's momes now escapes the pockets oh he's going to run for it and he's able to cross Midfield before going out well once a play breaks down you're just looking looking for a running Lane just a little bit of room just a little bit of air in the pocket he found one of those two but the defense swarms towards him and denies him the other the Chiefs looking to punt on fourth down so on comes Matt Arisa to handle it and this one is crushed wow beautiful punt here that is going to go for 60 plus they'll get this drive started first and 10 out of the shotgun they'll give it to him inside and they beat him to the edge that run stopped back at the line no progress on first down and that'll bring up second and 10 made it all look so simple didn't he that linebacker sorting right through the traffic finding the runner that's instincts come to life second and 10 need to get some positive yardage here Herbert back to throw quick hitter complete and he's going to be brought down after getting this up to the 22 you know what I love to say you never go broke taking a profit and you often gain profits when you use your eyes as a quarterback those hitch routes those underneath throws often times it's the eyes of the quarterback looking down field and then taking that short completion third down from the gun he had it for a moment but a great defensive play to jar it Loose incomplete tough one to attain through that hit and fourth and four coming up true story Kate after practice one time head coach in the NFL said I'm done with my fault I'm done with my b no more of that tapping on your chest that was an example of the quarterback delivering a perfect pass and the receiver do your job he's got it at the 17 and they bring him down to put a stop to that return ball at the 33 for first down [Applause] to the air M B's got it they'll get 18 yds there and it'll be first down Kansas City the smartest pass catchers I've ever been around they know how to set up an outcut beautifully they recognize when they have leverage how to sell the Deep rout and then boom they just break it out as if it's nothing One play in and this drive is already in the enemy territory running out of the gun with Pacho and he has enough room to gain about four that is just a good solid run right there I know that's pretty basic commentary but sometimes football can be basic it keeps you on schedule that kind of yards per carry and you move the [Applause] [Music] sticks after three quarters we're still neck and neck neither side has been able to fully separate this game still tied after three so we're going to decide things here in the fourth quarter second and Six coming up [Applause] here now he'll throw off the play fake finds his man rice and they're going to haul him down a step before the 30 right at the 31 he picks up 15 on the play and the Chiefs are going to have a first down you know Kate over the years I have heard defensive coordinators say hey you got to earn the right to rush the passer you got to earn the right for me to call blitzes and when you call a blitz and you don't get home and you don't hit the quarterback you've earned nothing finers down the middle and it is C and he'll go down looks like they're marking him at the 11 they pick up 20 yds there and it'll be first down Kansas City just how many times do we see teams go to this route you can go to a Little League field tell them to hey run to the post it's a Playbook staple and he's someone you could depend on to create space and make catches out of [Applause] it working inside the red zone Z this throw is caught and he's got a decent gain before being brought down sometimes when you're just looking to move it forward get some small yards on to throw quarterback's best friend security blanket and when it's a big old tight end that's an extra bonus after a good pickup they've got second and four sending a tight end in motion left they'll throw it again and they will score touchdown Kansas City the chams take a fourth quarter lead well good luck stopping the big fella that close to the goal line Brock I've always stopped that the distance right there is just made for tight ends to score touchdowns yeah and it's not just a sport that you also love to cover in basketball that's all about matchups you get near the Red Zone and into the end zone matchups become critical and when you got a dude like this that's a mismatch maker you feed him that one splits the uprights and they'll continue adding to their lead buter on now to kick this one away this return start at the five and this drive will start inside the 25 they're out and set first and 10 throwing now R and that's incomplete what lucky there too nearly picked off on first down you feel unlucky well do you well he should because quarterback got away with one right there that was an easy pick dropped by the defense no dice on that prior pass here's second down here's Herbert that one is incomplete couldn't hang on through the contact ball and Defender run to the exact same time there so they're left facing third and long you know that was almost a nice chunk play before he was able to recover and provide the hit that this lodes the football you like to see that physical Edge and scrappiness to contest any kind of shot plays deep looking to throw he has the first over the middle he's at the 30 the 10 and he will score touchdown Los Angeles the Chargers get it down to a single point all right so the offense does its job Brock now they need their defense to give him a chance to overcome that big deficit the momentum in the buildings clearly changed we can feel it here in the booth but you're right it's now to the defense to make a stop and give them a chance that one right down the middle and we're all tied up Dicker all lined up and ready to boot it away that's going to be taken in at the eight find some space he's past the 30 the 50 30 oh I don't think so he took it all away oh baby what a return touchdown that one splits the uprights and they'll continue adding to their lead what do you think Brock can we get dueling kick return touchdowns huh let's find out the kick is away return coming from the six he's got a lane up past the 30 great vision gets him across field and a huge return sets up the offense on the opposite side of the [Applause] field looking to throw it tight end reels in the shallow throw and he's tackled after gain in a handful Chargers hurrying to the line as the seconds tick away throwing now this one is tipped away and incomplete good positioning to make a play on it that forces third down look okay that wasn't a fast enough break for the interception but it was good enough and a good enough break to break on the ball get a finger on it and force the incompletion no connection on the last play and out third down to throw and as that one Falls incomplete All Eyes shifting to the flag that was thrown if it's defensive they got a first down here they got the interference call on third down and that keeps this drive going with a new set of downs and it's a gain down to the 5 yd line minuted six on the Play Bring It Up second and four you gain that kind of yardage in the Run game and you're going to gain the trust your offensive coordinator plays like that runs like that set the table for everything else in the Playbook after a good pick up they've got second and four now to throw and what a risk but he can't hang on no interception but nearly a turnover In The End Zone there's the importance of staying in Phase as a Defender he was all over him in coverage and that really did help Force the incompletion so after that prior incompletion we've got third down here he is to throw it's caught and this one doesn't go far feet KN Kate feat and eyes they so often tell the story of every position on the field and that quarterback's feat and eyes move to his secondary read and so often it's a tight end well it's incumbent on that defense to fly to the ball you want to make that tackle Force the fourth down it took a great defensive effort to do it and he will score touchdown Los Angeles the Chargers cut it to a lone point on the scoreboard a second touchdown through the air for and Brock and independent of the game situation we both know he's going to be happy to leave the field with two of them in one game one touchdown you just might be right time right place but two touchdowns in a game is always about the preparation the separations of the preparation doing that work on the practice field and knowing before the game that when my number's called I'm going to be there to deliver Dicker all lined up and ready to boot it away bringing this one out of the end zone and in the end he's able to get it to what used to be a Touchback it's at the 25 after the return they'll give this up the middle to Peko and he's into the front for a gain of about two he gets a couple on First and they'll come up second and [Applause] eight well Brock four quarters couldn't decide a winner and now we're set up for an exciting conclusion to this contest overtime is coming up next [Applause] got to block that Mis kick from their minds and refocus still a win to be had as overtime has begun that's going to be taken in at the eight and a decent return ends as they bring him down inside the 30 they'll get this drive started first and 10 here's a give up the middle and it took a couple of guys to haul him down there after a gate of just one they'll come to the line here second and nine they're going play action and he finds the seam down the middle complete and he'll push this up field and earn them a new set of downs more back that is a well-designed route right there he really made it easy to get that pass to him creating space QB receiver deliver first and 10 from a yard shy of Midfield running behind center with Edwards and he gets some good yardage down to the 42 just a little short but still a nyd pickup that's going to bring up second and one well that doesn't net a first down you get yards like that in the Run game you will take it in the NFL nice spot here for the offense it's second and one option design here and he's brought down for a loss D it's amazing how fast these guys are on the field and how fast your fortunes can turn second and short run you're feeling good about yourself but with a negative play well now comes a critical third down third and just two to go try and pick this up on the ground and His short game gets them man new set of downs yeah I get it fans will measure a running back's Merit by touchdowns yards fantasy football world we live in but as coaches and teammates Kate they want something a little bit more they want want to see plays like that a guy who will always get the short yards in a critical spot like that slate Downs to approach here from the 40 on the ground it's Edwards again broke through the tackle and he's brought down after a nice gain and a first down that's the kind of run that shows he's trying to take some stress off the passing game to provide big plays what a great help to that side of an offense when the ground game can deliver chunk plays too they'll keep this drive moving and come to the line for first and [Applause] 10 sticking with Edwards here and he'll go down here at the 16 it's a pick up of 14 yds as the chains reset he easily had the yardage for a first but he was hungry for a lot more I think that tackle prevented something that was going to be a lot bigger than just a first down pickup and new Downs fourth coming it's first and 10 they give it to him again and they're able to grind him to a halt after a pick up of [Applause] four La uses a timeout here it's second and that'll leave him with just one remaining in overtime second and Six coming up here back to back carries here he's got a nice gain down inside the 10yd line call it four yds and they're set up with a manageable third and two throwing from the gun complete beyond the marker and he will score touchdown Los Angeles the Chargers pull in front three touchdown catches in one game is rare ER Brock safe to say most guys who retire can name every time they did that here in the NFL yeah I hope he remembers it but also remember this receivers they're a dependent position they're dependent on the guys doing their job up front they're dependent on the quarterback putting on the spot and usually when you reach a milestone like this you'd love to share it with everybody else and my guess especially if they could find a way to win this one as this receiver will celebrate it with all of his guys Dicker all lined up and ready to boot it away this one's fielded at at the four yd line and look at this return Off to the Races middle of the field touchdown on an incredible return butur to try the point after that one right down the middle and we're all kned up after one kick get taken back partner let's see how well they can replicate it as this one's away here's a return from the seven and he's brought down the offense will come onto the field and the drive will start out with a first and 10 now he gets a shot here in overtime CH pass caught by his tight end the Chargers call a timeout that's their last one as they'll have none remaining in o halfway to the marker it's second and five from the [Applause] 32 he doesn't see a winner he likes so he just got rid of that one and brings up third down what a great fight from those blockers to keep buying and time in the pocket to find a throw you wish that effort could have been rewarded with a completion last pass unsuccessful and they have third down here now they'll throw out of the gun that's caught for the first and he has it up towards Midfield before he's taken down at the 47 he brings the offense up now for a first and 10 Edwards on the shotgun hand off and he'll take it past the Midfield strike and start the push into Chief's territory second and Six coming up here back to the well again and they bring him down around the 34 give him 15 yds on the pickup there and it brings up an LA first down pretty obvious this defense they need more people around the line of scrimage but the minute you do that Kate open up those throwing Lanes this is how balance takes apart a defense here's first and 10 from the 34 another carry for it and he'll bow his way ahead for a four- yd pickup he'll expect more from himself on those type of plays but there is nobody that's going to complain about that one if you can do math four plus 4 plus four equals a first down second and Six coming up here [Applause] here with a hand off here to Edwards CP four yds and they're set up for the manageable thirdd and two on the gar this is Edwards and he's going to be stopped at the 17 yd line it's a pick up of nine yds and the Chargers will have a first they had the first down by a comfortable margin right there remember that play call put that one away could be a money play for them the next time they're in a similar spot the Chargers sending out Dicker the kicker to add three to the board timeout taken by the defense their's second as they'll be left with just one more to work with here in OT now Cameron Dicker on to try the field goal he's looking 34 yds here down the middle and it is good no problems there on the shorter attempt so the Chargers take this one on the road and they only needed to set him up with a shot to connect and win it with three and his aim was true to make it
