after years of buildup and hundreds of thousands of ours designing developing testing and training the time has come for teams to get out on the race course for Real by the end of October the holders of the 37th America's Cup will be known one team and their Club will have done what the kiwis did last time in 2021 and held sailing's most prestigious trophy above their heads as they celebrate their victory the racing schedule will have taken around 2 and 1/2 months now it's time to start on that Journey but how do you get to be the team that gets to race for the [Applause] cup there are three key phases to this America's Cup cycle the preliminary Riata the Louis vuon cup Challenger selection series and the America's Cup match itself the third preliminary reget in this cup cycle sees all six teams race against each other in a series of one-on-one match races over four days on the fourth day the two top ranked teams will go head-to-head in a final unlike the previous two events in villenova and jeda that was sailed in ac4s this event will be sailed in the AC 75s it's also the first time that the boats will have raced officially and while the points don't count d directly towards the America's Cup there's no doubt that the racing will be taken very seriously indeed after months of testing and training where teams haven't been allowed to line up against each other this is the first chance to see the relative performances and no one will be taking this lightly racing kicks off daily at 2: p.m. Spanish local time as the name suggests the Louis on Challengers selection series is designed to select the best Challenger to go head-to-head with the defender in the America's Cup but in this case The Defenders also sail in the series but only for the double round robin stage once it gets to The Knockout phase in the semis and finals one of the five Challengers will have been eliminated and we don't see the Defenders until the America's Cup match itself so for the semi-finals the four remaining Challengers race in a first to five win series the first two then go onto the final where the first team to win seven races goes on to be the Challenger that will take on the defenders in the big one the America's Cup this is what the entire cup cycle has been focused on and in many ways it's the simplest stage two boats One winner all they have to do is to be the first team to score seven points after that the oldest International sporting trophy is [Music] theirs a sustainable future yamar
