Wallace floats it up off the mark and the fever get a pair of stops here to open up the night tonight that'll be a key Indiana defense has struggled this year Christy Wallace has had the assignment of the tougher perimeter assignment danana boner the other the night against Connecticut and tonight it's Ryan Howard as aaliah Boston knocks down an isolated postup play it'll be a fun match up to watch as Haley Jones on the other end can't get it to go Austin at 22 Charles a legend still playing at a high level at 35 tons of young Stars here in this match up Jones can't get that one to go either here is Charles in deep position the left-handed shot will fall Tina Charles Timeless the 64 13th year veteran not in the WNBA a year ago as Clark weaves through traffic leaves it shorts Smith on the front court has all five of Indiana's points here in the first quarter and Howard she is electric they've got two of the best wings in the WNBA and Howard and gray Howard's had a lot of success the Move finds some space and Mitchell connects niy moves there by Kelsey Mitchell that by the way was Ryan Howard's second foul here so that'll be worth watching here is Howard catch and shoot knots hasn't been shot here early hits a triple Ariel Powers already with eight points off the bench for [Applause] Atlanta good pick up for and pad over and the off season brings toughness and Spades here to this dream team [Applause] Mar has to like this match up on Dangerfield draws the double clock down the five wheeler pulls up and connects screen assist Clark message received by the team in so far in this first quarter by coach sides she gets a screen assist and a real assist and Hull comes up with the steal Dangerfield giving Chas hole beats her to the rim but can't finish nice job by wheeler track it down those are the hustle plays that The Fever haven't always made here at times this season CLK finds hole wide open two strong on a three and here's another offensive rebound it's Indiana's fourth here of the first quarter as Boston gets inside and lays it in Leah Boston doing such a great job in the one-on-one tonight getting to that midline and making a move this is night and day from what we saw on Monday as Howard dials up a three on the other end Atlanta back with him four Indiana struggle to get to 70 now Connecticut is the best defensive team in the league but this is a good defending team here in Atlanta too Boston spins leaves it short Boston the offensive rebound and the put back nice start here for aaliah Boston she is getting so much better at making decisions in that short roll in the middle of the floor that was a really good choice Austin with six points four rebounds and she's only played seven minutes sat for a few with those fouls power deep position Parker TI is too strong shot clock off fever can look for the final shot of the first [Applause] quarter wheeler lops it back they look Boston's direction again and aiah Boston cashing in it's been a Boston beat down here in the first two feet in the paint two point here in the last few possessions and she has cashed in every step of the way nine points here in the first quarter for Boston Indiana leads by nine and Howard on it I like the action right there and I like the emphasis on screening here in the first H first quarter fever had just 15 points in the first quarter on Monday a 33-point 33-point first with six early points to start the seconds Howard driving on Mitchell who stays with her they'll call her with the foul it's a smart take by Ryan Howard at 62 suiting confidence right now and you're seeing it manifest and a lot of these small plays the offensive rebounds the hands on balls and it's turning into buckets and confidence for Indiana now Ryan Howard gets set for her seconds knocks it down [Applause] [Music] Lisa gray trying to ice Kelsey Mitchell keep her on the same side of the floor samelson a little behind wheeler who still comes up with it oh that's Ryan Howard that's going to be three Pat well you talk about those little plays if wheeler doesn't stick with that it's a turnover and it wouldn't have even been necessarily a bad play by wheeler not to get back into it she does stays active and now perhaps Atlanta if the fever can take advantage of that paace on the attack tough shot but there's Boston to clean up aiyah Boston really playing one of her better games we saw that second half you mentioned earlier against Connecticut and she is building on that [Applause] [Music] tonight you know this Atlanta team is five and five overall they're three and one on the road so they have been excellent in other player uh other franchises Arena they've got a lot of scoring power and they've got a lot of ability off the bounce this is an Atlanta team that started the year two and five a year ago and Kisha Wright still trying to get her group to where she knows it can be it's a team with a ton of talent has the potential to be outstanding defensively Nia coffee another one of those really versatile Defenders coffee hits the first and now a message from Indiana workers coffee two of two from the foul line the one area where Atlanta has been able to bridge some of this Gap the free throw line they fit eight free throws to Indiana's three Mitchell has not missed a shot yet she's three for three shot clock down to five Mitchell trying to create step back that's a three she connects Mitchell is feeling it here we go she told Katie Lou cut through the middle there and clear out some space take that help away so she could go oneon-one gray finds some space on the other end Fades and hits Alicia gray that's her first [Applause] basket Wallace gets around Jones shot too strong and Wallace is called for the points on Monday he's already topped that here tonight she and Boston each have 11 good to see both of those two playing as well as they are here in the first half well they're they're making shots and the ones that they have missed which they have missed 18 shots they've offensive rebounded eight that is better than their offensive rebounding percentage and a lot of that has to do with aiyah Boston she's got four of those eight wheeler just shook Powers there but couldn't make her pay with the three nice at on that last possession by Tanisha Wright got gr a bucket this is a big line up on the floor for Atlanta on the perimeter with Haley Jones running the point around Parker tus on the inside four out of round one not a lot of size on the floor for Indiana as that was poked away there by Parker tus Smith trying to battle down low Powers gave help they'll all battle and Powers was on the Baseline as she was fighting for it so it'll stay with Indiana Indiana playing with excellent space getting the shots they want not having to play in transition defense and that was one of the keys to the game for them to be able to pull out a win Mitchell's done everything so far that's a hook there on Mitchell an offensive foul and the thing is that she didn't even need the hook because she the offensive foul is called on Mitchell gray Launches on the other end can't hit with a three Atlanta had hit three of their first four from out there missed their last two wheeler stop and go jittery and a finish what a smart take by Erica wheeler comes down the right side nobody stops the ball she splits The Defenders to the rim like four different gears on that drive alone that's offensive it's going the other way ktie L Samson has taken a couple of tough shot M's already played 10 minutes tonight sharing the court now with Caitlyn Clark who's just checked back in Smith spinning into a double team floats it overow shot too [Applause] strong Indiana's countered with a bigger lineup in the post with two bigs hows misses everything that's an air ball and that's because Christy sides can put Nelissa Smith at that four with this smaller lineup on the floor for Atlanta and she can guard on the perimeter danger field back in Atlanta goes a little smaller Clark trying to create on the drive scoop shot is shorts see Ayah Boston's got to hold that contact right there and take that Defender out off that drag if she held her contact there either she's going to draw offensive foul or Caitlyn's going to have a clean look to the rim or it's going to be a clean look to the paint spray to the three the Atlanta Dream are already into the bonus here so that was an ill-advised foul by Erica wheeler 50 plus feet from the rim it'll send Alicia gray who is a good foul shooter to the line misses on her first Ryan Howard and her lack of participation has been a real story here tonight because Howard has 10 points in 8 minutes but she's only played 8 minutes because of those three fouls and could be done until the second half gray misses both Parker tias the rebound here's gray battling in traffic that won't go tipped around a third opportunity here for the [Applause] dream rim tonight five of five from the floor is Mitchell 13 points on just five shot attempts she's been so efficient Parker tius just muscles her way inside and she draws the foul knocked off her spot if she holds that spot she takes gray out that allows Caitlyn to turn the corner and maybe Aaliyah would be open in the short roll or the second the secondary has to help which allows you to have a spray three so there's lots of things that can happen when you set a really good screen in the middle of the floor for Caitlyn Clark marker tius knocks down the two free throws and his offense top to bottom has been really good here tonight although that a bad pass from wheeler but a foul going to be called on Atlanta see now I'm going to tell you about aiyah Boston sets a great screen here and you got to use it now you can't let them get over the top of that you got to put your Defender below the level of a screen before you cut into it that's an excellent screen she takes her out see look she's offensively because that long rebound led to a two-point basket for Atlanta and you did not get to set your defense little 40 burst by The Dream here's Boston spinning musling and finishing I mean are we looking at the last year's Rookie of the Year cuz right now she's playing like it 15 for Boston in the first half to go along with seven re [Applause] bounds marur tus sees the double that's a deep two it won't matter it's way off the mark for Tina showed you about good screens half screens using the screen properly all centered around your 65 post player who is a Target on the top of the Scout more Boston blocked from behind but there's a foul in there as well by Charles I mean what a beast likee activity and level we're getting from Aaliyah Boston tonight Austin really got going and the ball get a couple of sides that was a really good possession would be fun to go in there after the game however you'd be in there for a while cuz the lines are so long there's so many people in there the finish on the left side of the rim for Clark she's got seven points three assists well that pass was deflected and the fever turn it over they've taken really good care of the ball Indiana that was just their fourth turnover Howard tough look nearly got it to go hman the offensive rebound here is Parker [Applause] tyus nice slip by Mitchell what a great read she was set to set a flare back screen for Caitlyn Clark it's a good slip got to finish those fever have been held to Five Points opening four minutes of the third quarter Atlanta just hasn't been able to take advantage offensively good timeout you cannot allow your shot selection to lead to their transition opportunity that's Smith who can certainly play some five but Parker tyus taking advantage of Boston being on the bench well and Lissa Smith has made nine triples uh this season so she was wide open on a two-man naked side you got to take that shot but you got to you got to hit Rim fever fans when the fever win you win head to any Gallery Pastry Group location moment of adversity here in the second half for Indiana Leah Boston is back on the floor She and Nelissa Smith just Trading [Applause] Places one4 high this nice job of getting back defensively there that's been a challenge this year the transition defense Howard trying to muscle her way inside and is called for steps that was a really good job in transition Pat you're absolutely right good scramble everybody gets matched up stop the ball get ready to play D really [Applause] nice Atlanta shooting just 40% from the field this has been a couple of really big steps forward defensively for Christy Sid's Group which ranks last in the WNBA they're allowing 90 points per game least so far not on this night not even close hon trying to drive around Howard and Parker tyus had to hold it that was a good screen down there by Boston really good screen and a really good job of Katie L Samson keeping her dribble alive to be able to get to the the night and 16 minutes you know what Pat Boston and Mitchell have not scored here in the second half at nine points of the two leading scores in the first half not a part of that here in the third said hey what did you learn from coaching and teaching she said patience patience and Wheeler turns it over that ball touches the sideline who's at the University of Florida working for Kelly Ray with the game on the line what the Indiana defense has done three consecutive stops including two shot clock violations yeah those three defensive possessions Atlanta got one shot up and it was that three from Howard it was by no means an easy look she's hit a couple of those contested threes but what a defensive sequence here by Indiana when Atlanta had taken a one-point lead they had the ball and all the momentum I thought you made a really good point there I want to revisit it so often atos are viewed as offensive plays for the coach coming out of timeouts the defensive atto for Christy side's really good well in shoot around today under 10 on the shot clock they wanted to Blitz ball screen action and particularly with Ryan Howard that's how much respect Indiana has for what Ryan timeout and and a reset timeout remaining will take their last official timeout so this is the last time Indiana can huddle they can still Advance the ball and substitute one more time but a three-point lead just under 40 seconds to go so you got to expect Atlanta to make a change here defensively maybe to rotate two try to get a steal try to get a [Music] deflection there is a 15 second differential so you know Atlanta if they can get a stop they're going to get the ball back so I wouldn't anticipate that they foul Tyrese halberton peering into that huddle Pacers point guard to help
