EV Road Trip to Cumberland Island NHS! The Last Leg of Our First Electric Vehicle Trip

good morning we're off to Cumberland Island at 100% state of charge already packed up and everything like that get that situated got ice twice over there on the r four goodness I'm allergic to the shenanigans we're all packed up we're off we're off Cumberland Island Cumberland Island National Seashore stop the last stop on our electric vehicle road trip our first one our first and then after that we just head home and uh today's not sponsored by ghost pink lemonade specifically we had uh I had limeade yesterday and something before I had a bang the day before I have no idea what I had all right I'm going to put this phone down so I can start driving continue on it's right up here right lean across you try I tried I'm sure you wow that bridge were going to have to go over oh my God it's so big I feel like it's so unnecessary like why does it need to be that big do ships come through there I guess well it's already been knocked down twice by ships so oh that makes me not want to go on it previously not this version because the other ones got knocked down how long ago um like what was the last knockdown what is the name of this Brig again I don't know the unnecessarily large Bridge randomly in Georgia Sydney lanir um it doesn't say when it was built and it doesn't say when the old bridge was hit but apparently they run a 5k on it every year I run 5 G Highway do they mhm I actually think it's a marathon it's pretty view while you're running I I'll probably set a new record on a 5k for myself give me get over that thing oh my goodness oh God s your heart rate got to 272 it's not even possible it was possible in that moment there's a lot of railings either oh well it's pretty day yeah it's not supposed to rain over on comfortland well that's good cuz we're out there for ever ever I don't know how many hours we're out there so I think we get there at 9:45 and we leave at 445 okay so it's a hefty junk of time yeah thankfully they it's a motorized tour so you get to go in a van thank goodness look at this bridge isn't it neat what did you say this bridge is complete I would sure hope so what I don't feel like there's anybody on it well I don't really think you're going to be able to tell smart I bet you that camera can huh I bet you that camera could three it's struggling with the trees in half a m turn left on I don't really was kind of dizzy I don't see anybody it either it's not closed that would be a problem he tell go around right yeah it's just I mean we're getting there well ahead of time I added this buffer on the off chance like I really don't want to uh get that a bed no uh deal with Bridge oh that done why does that make me feel uncomfy what the why is there more my Lord I don't even want to know how many people have driven off this bridge let's go with an interior Lane You by interior Lane like the lane that is not on the edge closest to our death as long as I'm going fast enough there's nobody over there here we go there's a turd a turd on a bridge why does it look so it doesn't look that big in this video it looks kind of big in the video it looks nauseatingly large what's the biggest bridge we've driven ever this one is this the biggest one we haven't driven over in any Bridges I don't know the one in Cincinnati that you and uh prisilla oh that one wasn't that big though it was a kind of ornate bridge but I don't think it was that tall I could be wrong sir you have covenants I don't I actually say this is not as bad as uh Skyway still yeah I'd agree with that some Skyway is always so packed too someone's running over this and someone's biking over this so you know what maybe we need to grow up a little bit I still don't like brid we're so used to our Florida flat land that we see some type of elevation I would argue this was significantly easier to do with yeah I know Skyway is better or worse Skyway is busy though and I think that's the biggest problem it's busy it's over the gulf uh so you know and right now has active construction going on over it that's too and you know there's Cruise Ships coming through there there's also that all right we made it over the bridge that was not as horrifying as I was expecting right it was pretty though it was pretty I have no complaints oh there's ja Island oh all I know H I guess I have a little booket I grabbed on that somewhere this is where they money laundered legally of course it's a really pretty day is you know I like to VI for better to stay there I really like that restaurant we went to yeah we didn't really go to like a specialty restaurant here but this the restaurants around St Simon feel more like beachy yeah like bar Shack restaurants the one you had picked out of nice but we ended up eating at that Cher whatever yeah whatever that was that was pretty good yeah it was decent like a fast casual restaurant it was like a good combo of a mo and chipotle like I had more options than Chipotle but it wasn't as greasy I agree with that sentiment for you turn on your heated seats feels quite nice this early in the morning you know what weird Georgia and I think South Carolina too they have it where their merge lane comes all the way out to there we're just cutting off yeah versus ours is just like good luck you're on the road now I would argue that that's probably safer for it to be so extended I agree that's us that's where we're going we're going to St Mary's an island is this a big boat or a little boat uh uh I don't not as small as the one we took the eggmon key by any means uhhuh but I don't think as large as uh Dry Tortugas that would makesense s although it might be I don't know I mean I have no idea it's certainly not as long as it took us to drive to T yeah that was what 2 hours on the boat 2 and a half can't really take an UV out there now unfortunately we can't what's a part of book seller a there's a museum gotland Island not the visitor center so we're meeting at The Visitor Center at the stop sign turn right onto West St Mary Street then the destination is on your right oh there it is while we're here there's our fairy but where is the the seashore it's really not great directions around here that's on she short I don't know I don't know where to go all right when you're doing Cumberland Island you have to come to the visitor parking lot for the seashore Cumberland Island Seashore it's separate you can't park in front of it you can't park where the reservation building is for the ferry you have to come to this visitor parking specifically and I'll show you what that looks like all right look for this this specific parking lot there's another one over there that blue building right there that's the visitor center nice little park right here across from it locals right there really nothing happening here first thing in the morning yeah we were here at not even 8: a.m. so very quiet yes there's another entrance right behind that trailer that you can pull into if you're coming east to west if you're coming west to east there's that one that's the waterfront park again parking lot visitor center right here not that building well maybe that building this blue one right here Visitor Center never mind here's the stairs that's the elevators so if you need elevators there stairs here oh my goodness here's the the camp coming here to the dock I believe that's Florida just right over there very pretty very pretty indeed we did it we did it that was such a pain it was but we ended up getting the uh got the annual pass yeah we didn't get our stamp because it was a little crowded but there's still one more stamping opportunity cancellation opportunity at actual Island there's a whole island stamp at the sea Ranger camp so we'll make sure to get that one if not you'll see when we all the ones we've gotten we'll do a Roundup when we get home tonight made some friends already I made a friend you always make friends so yeah per leaves at 9:00 do a little orientation and then uh you know off we go just another video of the stair so you're going to enter from over there stairs are right here you can also come through here that little area I pointed out it's just their uh Maintenance building but if you come through here go up these stairs you're going to go around that way and you'll be good it's quite exciting it's been pretty easy of an adventure for our EG so far and uh definitely set this up to do again in the future we're not going to be able to do the museum today we're not going to be able to do the museum today but just gives us a reason to come back cuz the fery leaves at 4:45 right 5:15 no I think we get back at 5:30 I think and the museum closes at 5: but it opens at 10:00 so yeah this our boat I'm assuming so Cumberland Queen too way a land land in land not the tour this is just strictly SE SE camp or not this is not SE camp this is just a dock this is your first stop few other things going on here but we're going down to to se camp and uh where we get to enjoy some other things which is also pretty relevant see Camp G me an excuse to go to Guam and uh Samoa cuz I definitely would not have gone if it wasn't for that I Animal Kingdom but like actually a safari very pretty out here oh my goodness might as well you know look how pretty I so waiting to see a plum I see a single one not a lot of plums on the Plum Orchard what's your favorite thing so far won the wild ponies saw Wild ponies we saw a dolphin we saw wild turkeys yeah oh the little turkey babies are cute yeah little turkey babies yeah it's hot even C to say so yeah some Orchard very nice seriously you guys come out here you got to do this oh something happened here someone lost quite a few feathers my goodness look at them all [Applause] he's like all right I'm done playing dead it's so cool so that's the this building then they said 1801 yeah fountain this horse expert I knew that one was that's a oh I guess he can go down here the water wheel and then over there you can kind of see through the trees great house greenhous and house this is I don't know if this is war RS obviously something to do with Recreation no yeah this was just the recreation area what this is just the recreation area Gun Room Billard pool squash and apartment doctor's office that's right two best friends it's so large they had like four monies Plus at least at least oh ice water that sure did Tabby house fit around 1801 for this one these are the old Polo Fields coincidentally still featuring horses shoes house 1.2 million correct this is the pergola I don't think we would have even seen the ponies to be honest yeah would have had to come down all this way quite a hike yeah I think we could have hit this but it would have been like a yeah especially in the heat it's really hot this time year yeah got have gone to the beach really cool there's a few things over at C Camp I think too that we haven't seen yeah I don't know if we'll have that we were doing a six shower tour I thought it was a six shower walking tour no I will die motorized on the island I will die AC motorized vehicle there we go power roll there's no way you can lock any of that no not all of it there's just too much to see and it's too spread out you know that's the guy that came in with machete and he just drove by on a moped and you know what there's nothing that I prepared me for that instance okay honestly I might even stop I wish we had that fancy McDonald's that Beau for I'd probably stop in there she need something I need CH glassy for they call huh french fries sound good I don't know about the rest of a McDonald's menu even if it is a fancy McDonald's what sounds good to you then great question f i just to get home okay oh if you see something [Music] I just didn't realize it was coming out so fast we were literally at the first exit we're back in Florida Welcome Home to us we were on the river that divides Florida and Georgia uh I'm a passenger princess right now I don't know what's going on what are roads we T matter okay I do you need to stop at the center for whatever reason at the agriculture inspection uh you know you know I don't think I need to be inspected no the first uh visitors in no to go to the bathroom or anything okay just want to get on down the road and eventually feed ourselves I would also like that PR same [Music] n o [Music] so ugly that was very ugly just saw the one earlier was blacked out and lowered lower yeah questionable decision making but they also own as hyber trucks it's already questionable oh yeah we only got 20 mil of a buffer so do we need to stop well I think we'll make it we have 95 miles and the range has 115 so I feel like it' be fine probably if we don't hit traffic right actually the opposite if we hit traffic we would definitely make it home yeah okay usually it's uh it's speed that kills the battery faster so if we hit traffic the slower I'll go and therefore the further I'll go uh-huh but without traffic that's when you start see cuz like initially we had 25 miles of a buffer to get home now we only have 20 19 so have to be more cognizant of how close we're cutting it yes I'm prob with stopping if we need to think we do but yeah if we can just make it home I regret getting this L also this guy is not going that much faster you just get home not even worry about stop for food or anything her back yeah I'm not stressing out so I just yeah don't tied you over no I'm pretty hungry it's just I'd rather just be home yeah same like I'm tired same I've done all this driving not that you have an offer yeah but I have done it so yeah man yeah I'll just keep it like 70 we'll make it okay if not we can stop and or in Beach or something okay that works kind of nicer iner area that's where we go to the beach why don't we go to the beach once every 5 years it felt fancy oh technically we've been to more beaches lately it's just haven't been to a beach for the sake of going to a beach we don't do beaches like people normally do beaches rivan no that's a Bronco that's Bronco though I tried I was trying to participate it's all right you know what I review of Cumberland Island while we're sitting here okay just double up on it you know what I mean present in the conversation okay so how would you rank it one to five one to five I'd make it like a five I would also make it a five five is like a you would tell people that don't even like National Park stuff like we do to go there oh yeah I I would yeah I'd recommend it I would even put it in one of our top five locations we've gone to yeah I think so like it was pretty good it was very thorough but definitely do the tour the long tour yeah the land in Legacy is a must because it takes you to the northmost point of the island and you can see like the old church and you can meet Carol what's her last name I don't know how to say it she's she's in a book and she has a lot of things for Cumberland Island she's a naturalist she's a naturalist conservationist type person I believe either way she's a very nice lady she lives on that island she grows her a lot of her own food supporter I guess what was it Wild cumberlandgap has some textbooks covering all the things she's noted during her she's been there since the 70s right yeah she really focused on Turtles and um they had turtles that were dying and then she helped design like a new net so that they weren't getting like the I don't know what they call that by catch it called where you catch things you're not trying to catch and you drown the turtles on accident type thing that's good so yeah she's done a lot of work with the turtles yeah so very interesting she's at the very North then we went to Plum Orchard which is massive it's very fancy an old Carnegie house now belongs to the National Park Service very very fancy very nice very thorough tour there lots of Park stamps if you're a park stamp person like we are yes there's one specifically for Plum Orchard there's there's one on the island that's of the island so there's a few that's not cancellation stamps and they're just stamps uh but there are also cancellations so like Cumberland Island things like that we ended up getting like six stamps from different locations yes oh yeah cuz it's also their 50th Anniversary Yep they're doing a special edition yes it's very pretty so even though they were Incorporated 72 somehow they're doing their 50th now I guess that's when it was signed in the law I don't know cuz that has to be signed how that works yeah well the lady at Reconstruction Era said that theirs was theirs was signed by Obama in 2017 but didn't go into effect till 2019 because they she said that Congress has to pass it yeah so I'm guessing something similar happened that makes sense yeah cuz they have to get the designation and there's like lots of stuff waiting to be officially moved now yeah according to the NPS website so yeah that's very interesting lots of wildlife yes lots of baby animals lots of baby animals little turkeys low deer little fos I said it right this time little goblets little golets I don't know I don't know what Young turkeys are I think they're chicks but I'm not sure I can't say that I'm a turkey expert that's not really my wheelhouse but they're cute they were cute they were really cute uh but yeah overall up there one of my favorite ones I'm glad we did it it was really cool I'm really glad we did the tour I'm really glad we went very ride was nice we met Mike very nice gentleman from Texas definitely good company while we were out he also took the tour with us kept his company on the ferry and uh he also does the National Park stuff so that was pretty cool into National Park the stamps and going to all of the the parks you can usually meet a decent amount of people that are doing similar stuff yeah it's a good way to to meet people and network and such mingle and mingle yeah overall pretty nice enjoyed it it was a good time all right I'm done charging I don't want to be here anymore yeah I'm ready to go home and I'm hungry me too [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] houses stickers in talk a little bit more about Cumberland Island and the things we saw and uh Yeah tomorrow's just going to be a chill day I'm going to edit all the videos get them up one by one but great first road trip it was awesome I've thoroughly enjoyed taking uh eveve Uno around she did a great job she needs a little bit of a bath now but overall that was awesome I'm we're definitely doing more road trips with the E wasn't much of a hassle at all took all of like 2 seconds to think about really most of it it love it absolutely loved it but we'll catch youall you in around
