Jenna Ortega And The Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Cast Talk Returning From The Dead!

the whole environment you know starts with his drawings and they you know they the lopsided floors and walls and the just beautiful images and the live the live puppetry and great effects you know in camera effects and you know it just like gives you as much as of the final visuals as as you can get on a set yeah that's incredibly informative it's like when you put on you know when actors describe putting on good wardrobe and hair and makeup and they feel themselves start to change the way they move it's so informative um and it's so rare that you're able to you know reflect on or um get inspired by the scene the scenery that's going on around you so I think that that was oh okay I have a little bit of a better idea where I am now which was great he's a really good playful boss too he makes it feel like it's oh what about this because he is saying that and he's saying what do you think too you know spontaneous yeah really spontaneous and creative you know just he really keep sh on your toes it happened to me on TV like four or five days before I went to London to shoot and I hadn't watched it I've been thinking about watching it but I just hadn't gotten it together and it came on TV and I just stood there and watched it and I remembered how I was reminded how quickly I spoke which really helped because I for several years I've been playing a very slow speaking methodical speaker and and uh it really helped me like whoo make a shift and not sound like any other character uh yeah so so that that really helped and just watching it you know being reminded of how what a great experience it was I went to Tim's place to meet about Wednesday season 2 and I wrote down some ideas of you know potentially where the season can go cuz he asked me for that and then he just was like oh okay well I actually um I don't want to talk about that right now I uh no pressure or anything and then he plopped the Beetle Juice script in front of me so that was the first time I had heard about her he kind of gave me a quick rundown you know but she's not Lydia she's not Lydia and she's not Wednesday either she's not Wednesday either you know but she's this weird in between so I think um obviously the prospect of getting to work with Tim again was very exciting to me exciting to work with him on a movie this time around um and also you know to be able to be in scenes with Beetlejuice and and deia and Lydia you know it's just um I didn't even know that that was ever going to be possible so there was a lot of things that made me interested in the job and that was about um no remember of 2022 we were I remember I went to New York the next day to promote Wednesday every moment of of being there I was like very present I made sure cuz I was I you it's like a absolute dream come true and you just want to really be present for every single literally every single moment um and I it I mean of all the things that i' I've I've done it it's it's really one of the most like special um things like to to just to be uh back with these like people that were meant the world to me kind of spoiled me like as an actress and you know we're so inclusive when I was a kid and you know Tim was you know we had such a great Bond and that that he was able to recreate that for even with all of like the buzz or anticipation and you know that it still felt like we were somehow like under you know we were we again just like no Studio pres like and that might be a testament to the to the great producers but we just felt like this really like liberating um like inspiring in the moment like oh let's try this like just this freedom because you trust him so so much I know he's not going to use anything that doesn't work there were a lot of times when I was you know I I had sort of gotten my hopes up and but there was never I feel like it was sort of this like kismi fate because I I realized like we had to wait for Jenna to be born and grow up and be like the perfect cuz she really just fit she sort of completed this this um puzzle you know um and and she was such a amazing addition as was Justin and Willam and Monica I mean it's like a Dreamcast you know Tim all of our sort of you know I he was doing it with everyone but you know they were very like sort of top secret you know I'd go over to his house and like we would talk and and he'd always say you know life happens and you know you just you find yourself you're older you know sort of I think a lot of what he's gone through in his life and you know everyone evolves and except for Beetle Juice maybe yeah right same old Beetle Juice but in the best way we love we love to watch him yeah um I he's like endgame for me I totally want them to be truly together it's I know but um he I I remember being like wait she has a a show and she's with this guy like I was I had that I had not pictured at all so but it it worked like as soon as sort of Justin came on and we figured out like the dynamic which is just so dysfunctional and you know he literally finds her at her most vulnerable and you know and there are people that do that you know and and and with Jenna you know I mean we just had formed such a sacred bond that just I've never had all of them but I mean some of them are just simple gags you know opening up a sweater and having guts blow out at you things like that but um but the real the thing that I was the most obsessed with and sort of nerding out on was those puppets there's a baby puppet in it that's so terrifying and amazing with facial expressions and and then there's and then the Bobs which are you know these sort of um uh or the the head shrinkers you know which had these incredible eyeballs that would move and they could make Expressions as well and then there were you know dozens of those guys kicking around Tim's very good at sort of letting everyone kind of just have input and I think that's the way he gets you know what you know and then wardrobe by Colleen Atwood which is just brilliant stuff um but we did a couple like haired uh tests we had one that was sort of like a a black Fabio hair um then we had one that was sort of like mullet and then when we finally put on the last one which was that little terrible you know s of it's a piece that goes on top that has a ponytail in the back that's when we all laughed really hard you know I would I I have some stuff already like churning that I'd love to do but I'd keep it a secret I I mean it's it Hollywood just gets funnier you know like as the years go on it never uh ceases to amazed me how um Naval gazing it can be um and so uh I don't know there's a million things I mean we've gone through so many movements in Hollywood um that I think those would all be uh somehow in the mix listen if if an idea strikes me like it struck Tim where he's like oh this could be a sequel I'll definitely do a sequel Laura is is so interesting because for me uh she has this Duality where she's dangerous and she's also funny and she's a metaphor life because uh we all have emotional scars and uh she's full of scars but she's strong she's coming back she she's fighting she's looking for vengeance and uh and in this moment where she puts herself together I mean this is very strong scene because it took two three days to film it and uh I tried to play like a broken doll like I felt like a m and uh I had to learn an entire choreography but was so much fun no no and almost all my scenes are with Michael Michael kitton and he was so generous so gentle and was so interesting to see the creative Synergy between Tim and Michael through the years to be part of this amazing cast and to enter into Tim's fantastic and poetic and Magical World I mean on on these sets you really can meet real monsters and this was really helpful no because you have something to react to instead of a green screen and uh and also you can go farther with your fantasy your imagination and also Tim loves to draw so there are always drawings of situations and characters and this is very helpful and also for me for Dolores to get into these beautiful sets to wear those amazing costumes of colen Atwood of course all this was so helpful to create the car [Music]
