about this game really inexperienced offensive line for the Fighting Irish tonight against a really good Aggie front so sir a lot of great games to get things started and the one on ABC at noon eastern time Clemson and Georgia renewal of an old rivalry absolutely excited to see Clemson especially their offense with the quarterback Kade kumnick first year starter up and down a lot lot last year but now they got some weapons they got Antonio Williams right but they got five star wide house and Bryant Wesco and TJ Moore they think that now he's going to be able to open up the offense attack that boy dog secondary and then Phil mafa 61 230 they should be able to run the ball with field you know what I'm excited for I'm excited for that one in Vegas USC LSU whole new era for both teams now we got a glimpse of the USC one with Miller in the bowl game I think he went for like six TS and obviously Lincoln Riley's going to have stars throughout but down there in LSU they lose the Heisman winner they lose their two top receivers what's Brian Kelly going to do with me at quarterback down there that one on Sunday should be exciting because either one of them could go and either one of them could be a no that's kind of what week one football's all about Pat Pat I think there's another example of that with Florida and Miami today because there's so much hype with Miami and in Miami so there I don't think anybody has more at stake than the Florida Gator today against Miami and I wanted to ask coach Savin week one talking to a lot of coaches this week week one with a lot of speculation and and you know look at A&M they're getting ready for you know studying Duke and they're looking at different things how do you react to week one with in-game adjustments and Personnel adjustments just seems like a lot goes in because you're you don't really know for sure you're just kind of getting ready well the first thing I think you're always worried about is how's your team going to execute that's what you're focused on and then the second thing is you to have the right psychological disposition going into the game you're going to play with intensity but you're not going to be too emotional to make bad decisions and then you got to deal with all these unknown ones which you got new coordinators you got new head coaches you don't know for sure what you're going to get so the anxiety level going into the season in the first game is as high as it ever gets yeah I bet oh now it's my turn to talk about final four you know you're just going to blow past the 12 you know has done a great job taking over this program because he's got the right disposition about him he embraced the tradition he embraced the culture but he put his own mark on how he wanted to coach the team when they practiced how they played what the offense was what the defense was going to be so I I am really really excited about what Caden's going to do for Alabama have you intentionally and I know you've been busy since you retired but have you intentionally not come around just to kind of give him a little bit of breathing room him yeah I triy to stay out of the way I did sit in the Press Box and watch one scrimmage and sometimes the coaches come over and see me which I always get on the chalkboard dra some stuff can't help can't help yourself now that they're no consequence plays you know they used to have consequences now they don't yeah but with him Coach have you just kind of have you talked with him at all to kind of give him your thoughts or have you just kind of backed out so I just kind of back off if he calls and ask I'm glad to give him you know my opinion about something and this West Virginia man is way too humble but to take that job after Nick Sav leaves you have to be an incredibly confident person and kayin dbor is obviously incredibly confident because the resume you see there the most losses he has ever had in a season that he was a head coach three now is the SEC it's very different what he was able to do at Washington quickly bringing them back to the Glory Days with his recruits his guys his Squad Jaylen milro around I think is a massive ordeal for the continuity of the program as you would say and kayin dbor I think is uh I don't know if this year is going to be the year I hope on Sav and field it is but I think he's always going to create a winner and I love what he's doing down there that game will be on 7 o'clock Eastern tonight on ESPN and Desmond some of these other favorites big favorites shouldn't have any trouble winning the games but in terms of setting the tone who are you looking for wow I'm looking at Ohio State I think you know they're going to set the tone because don't forget they get Chip Kelly Chip Kelly a new play caller down there in Columbus you want to see what they look like against akan it's not about how bad they beat aan it's about them playing up to a stander so it's a new it turned over a new Leaf in the play calling so Ohio State's won yeah and and does we keep saying Chip Kelly Chip Kelly what does that mean you know if you talked to Chip Kelly since his days at Oregon and everybody talked about the uniforms and the speed yeah he would tell you personally it was about physicality Absol he would play Jim harball in a big Stanford Oregon game and he wanted to out Rush so he's going to bring that mentality which Ohio State really has been more about the quarterback and the receiver so I'm looking forward to seeing how that could impact them and physicality Steve you're going to need to see some from the Texas defensive front they lost those two big guys Staples of their defense last year as we think about these SEC heavy favorites today what do you think about the longhorn that's that's what I want I know everybody's going to talk about Stark because of the offense and everything but I want to see the defense replacing those two studs in the middle and the way they built that defense around it knowing they can get pressure up the middle they brought some transfers they're talking about they don't have to Blitz to get pass rush now so I'm interested to see how they go they Colorado State's got some some Talent on the offensive side so I'm interested in Texas defense St Steve I see that you had a couple people out of the program in the program fridge out which isn't great LED board worth $100,000 in s Steve living a high life over there well I thought I thought maybe the door opened and there was a fridge behind this is what actually was inside one of the big things here for all these teams even though they're heavy favorites is how did the transfers that came into their program how are they going to fit and are they really the right guys to make the culture better in their organization that's going to be a big key for all these teams yeah see a lot of that today week one get lot of growth and then next week we'll start talking about the growth it sound like it's this new thing that you know the quarterback I think the first thing you try to study about a team you're playing is how good is the quarterback and so I don't know that I've ever got into the game and not known the quarterback this is one of the first times I'm to in a game where the quarterback's got two years of experience going against our defense right so we had to get a little creative that let's take a look nobody knows Riley lard like you and the book on him is let's make him throw this is last year late in the game against Wake Forest game on the line tell us what you think he sees here and the importance of what he has the ability to do yeah I think he sees Blitz coming he knows he's got a one-on-one up top and so we're going to try to throw a double move and he's got to put this into a really tight window to win us a football game in the fourth quarter this was was a heck of a throw and this is a great catch but that's a heck of a throw into a really tight window uh with the game on the line right and there he is throwing from the pocket right guys I mean that's that's kind of the yeah with a lot of people coming at him too okay that's that's what jumps out about link uh Riley Leonard to me coach is how tough he is how he doesn't doesn't care about what's around him he's always Sur surveying the field and he's going to make the right throw yeah for sure he's and he's a true dual threat I don't know why anybody has that not the right way he can throw the ball really well yeah let's look at this uh let's look at this next one here coach Sav this is against Clemson this is like what everybody Associates Ry Leonard with right the that extra Gap you have to account for with a QB run well I I think this is one of the most difficult things about a quarterback who can beat you with his feet is they've got to go cover all these receivers they're motioning empty they got an extra Blocker in the box with the tight end they run a counter and you know he's a good runner look at the physicality coach now he's you know going make a big play so this is always a difficulty in defending a running quarterback to me especially quarterback draws Riley really good obviously with you at Duke last year and the year before that you turned Duke completely around they were four and four in the SEC here last year obviously looking for something similar this is your first game here on campus tonight it's going to be a they told me 155 degrees you and me aren't built for that type of stuff but what is your expectation for today game day and uh how's it been being down here in College Station yeah my expectation tonight is that this place is going to be absolutely rocking oh yeah oh yeah know as you can see whe whether it's midnight last night the 12th man shows up 9:00 a.m. this morning the 12th man shows up they're going to be here tonight 108,000 strong loud and proud for sure awesome do you know anything about this place rocking you ever been in here with yeah they the last time we played here at night which was three years ago you all beat us and Bry Bryce young after winning 19 games in a row price young was so confused by your pressure that we had no chance yeah but you did a great job that night I'm GNA take that one and run coach I'm gonna take that one and run hey by the way all that confusion that you do where did where did you learn that that's that's your thing third down confusion yeah I I think I had a unique upbringing because I was always with an head coach who was an offensive coordinator and so like the what I got from all of them was maybe a little bit more knowledge of how offenses work you I never got to work with a coach I never got to GA for one of these great defensive minds but I worked for some really good offensive coordinators whether that was Dave Clawson Brian Kelly Jimbo here um and I think from all of that I just kind of got a pretty good understanding of how offenses look at protections and look at things and maybe how to present some things to it that could be confusing I don't know if the Texas A&M fan base know knows this or not because he's pretty you know he's back to town he was a DC the size of this man's head here you go again so I thought I was going to get away with that here cuz I'm at Texas A&M it's a little different there's a big brain in here work all
