FIRST TAKE | Stephen A. & Shannon "SHOCKED" Florida State drops to 0-2 after loss to Boston College

which current top 10 team will finish the season unranked Florida State they have no business being in the top 10 number 10 Florida State goes down they have a quarterback who remains a question mark a sidearm LA and it's intercepted another wide open receiver and he misses Darion Williamson I think they used up too many tears crying about not getting in the playoff after a 19 game win streak that's three losses in a row now I'm extremely disappointing that uh we not [Music] better well Paul fine bomb was right on the money with that prediction FSU stunned by Boston College 28-13 last night fell to 0 and2 on the season Shannon your thoughts on fsu's rough start to the season yeah they're just not as good as as the the voters the odds makers that had them at number 10 um they're just not um the quarterback uh he get didn't get a whole lot of help but he missed some throws and that's kind of been his MMO throughout his career at Clemson and Oregon State and night Florida state they're just they're not good on that side of the football the defensive line didn't play well last night they supposed to have all these draft prospects and they just didn't play well give Boston College credit Boston College beat them in every aspect of the game last night Ste yes they did yes they did and and here's what I I I personally want to say this I think Florida State's prog program is in a world of trouble if you remember they go undefeated last year during the regular season but their quarterback Jordan Travis goes down injured near the end of the near the end of the year and as a result they didn't get invited to the PO to the playoffs they're salty about that obviously thinking the Orange Bowl was a meaningless game they go up against Georgia and Georgia smacks them up 63-3 and then you come off that and you follow that up with beginning this year 0 and two with a quarterback who the best thing he's got going for him is his name because most people don't know how to pronounce it so as a result they don't call his name out for how ineffective he's been thus far they don't have any Playmakers at the receiver spot okay and you're just looking at them now and you're saying wait a minute that last year a lot needs to be said but what are you going to do in the future to get the talent that you need to really really make amends for what transpired last year and I don't see it and if they fall off this year who's to say how difficult it's going to be to recruit future stars to come to the program in the years to follow particularly when you see the SEC the Big 10 Big 12 being loaded as they are with schools that have transferred there I think it's a tough situation for Florida State and I think if they're not careful they can fall off the map and ultimately be a hasb if they're not careful yeah listen list I I I agree with both you I think Lewis rdick said it best like some soul searching is going to have to go on for this football team the players are going to have to pull this thing together Stephen A you said it and and and Shay you said the same you can't you can't have 211 yards rushing and then have the other team have 260 plus and you think you're going to win a football game like that's getting physically dominated that ain't got nothing to do with just DJ none of that like none of that matters at some point you got to be the most physical team and you should be the most physical team against your two opponents early in the season that you thought were gimmies and obviously they weren't gimmies in your own division or on your own conference like this is trouble for Florida State and all that that implies because now it's going to be back on the players at some point you got too much pride to just let a team you go it's I think it's 2113 and they just run the ball right down your throat like at some point somebody's got to step up and make plays in between the tackles getting beat you ain't winning many football games in college especially against two teams that they just lost to yeah absolutely we'll leave it there K did you hear Mike norvale hey guys did you hear Mike norell you hear what he said he said I failed lose their second straight to open the season Boston College and Bill O'Brien blowing them out out rushing them 263 to 21 yards rushing in this game and that made our beloved former Boston College back with us and Heather Dan gets up with us early this morning so Heather i' I've always pointed out no one knows more about anything than you know about team's chances of getting into Championship scenarios and everything else so as bad as it has looked are we officially sticking a fork in Florida State's chances of getting into the playoff this morning no two points here Greenie one they can get in if they win the ACC two they're not going to win the ACC if they continue to play like this okay let's just establish that they were beaten soundly UPF front on both sides of the ball they can't run the ball they can't stop the run and their quarterback DJ u younga l has been erratic at best so in the 12 team college football playoff if you're fighting for an at llarge bid that's not a college football play playoff team the selection committee will know that people might not like the fact that you can have a conference Champion with multiple losses let me say that again you can have a conference Champion with multiple losses guaranteed to have a spot in the college football playoff so if miraculously Mike Norville fixes this and somehow they go on to win the ACCC they're in the playoff but they might be ranked behind Boise State yeah that's their p I will point out again that our analytics give them a 7% chance of getting into that playoff that's exactly what Heather is she just gave you the point s Paul I'll give you one more quick take this morning what what are the right things to say about Florida State this morning the right thing to say is their season essentially is over and I know that sounds cruel on the morning of September 3rd but it's hard to imagine a team being more disappointing uh they they started the season rank number 10 and it's it felt like it was too high but everyone was still on that Sugar hangover from last year when they were so good but a lot of those players are gone we tried to make believe that they would improve between Dublin when they lost to Tech and last night but they got worse and no matter how you look at it that's a sign of of of something being terribly wrong this this program is not coming back this year okay so that begat this our the staff the team here at get up the best in the business put together the following question which coach had the worst weekend how do I'll start with you DB o Sweeney at Clemson Brian Kelly at LSU Mike norell at Florida State Mike norell greeny and I'm going to tell you why Clemson and LSU are going to win football games as much as we piled on Davos Sweeny yesterday he's got a defense that's going to put him in position to try and win the ACC LSU is fine look at nus me look at how disruptive that defense was getting in the back field Florida State between Week 1 and week two did they go backwards coaches talk about that all the time what's the progress between week one and week two and for Mike noral it was notada what do you think Paul I'm going to go with with Kelly because the expectations greeny were so high this is his third year let's not forget Brian Kelly came over from Notre Dame one of the plum jobs in all of the game and he starts off the opening game losing once again to a team that most of us thought he was going to win yeah he still has a path back uh and and I think unlike Norvell and unlike dabble I think it's a much easier path but it just seems so disappointing and and I think what would hurt more than anything was the performative uh punch the table that everyone in America is laughing at in the aftermath why is everyone laughing at it because nobody really believes it was authentic greeny it was a bad attempt at acting and and I'm a fan of Brian Kelly in fact I'm scheduled to interview him in a couple of hours depending on this segment that could change but uh he he won't be winning an Oscar this year and uh I'm not sure he's going to be winning an SEC Championship either all right we'll find out and I would say that this was a trick question or an unfair question because we didn't give you the best option of all I would say it's Billy Napier who gets absolutely blown out by Miami in his opener then he can't open a
