morning Al morning Gabby Jeff how do you feel about this like you know when is everyone knows you're down the leagues you love your heartly pool and a lot of fans are very unhappy a draw is a draw this is taken that away the mystery and the Intrigue the excitement of the draw who do we get well the the problem with this Aly is it's it's not the authorities in this country that the finger should be pointed at it's the it's the money Grabbers that you a who decided to expend the champions league and Europa League and they have ambushed the caraval Cup dates uh and had we stuck to a normal draw we might well have had for instance Liverpool or Manchester United having to play a carabal cup game in the same week as they had to play a Champions League game or a Europa League game and it just couldn't happen so it's a compromise I think it's a a decent compromise what they've done is they've kept those teams you know within the the competition people might have been tempted to to pull out um yeah I get the point from the lower league sides but you know we're the best willing in the world um you know don't they've still got the opportunity of that big draw you know we've still seen sides get big draws it doesn't sit right sometimes I I get that when especially when the draws taken place and the creme Del creme if you like you know six big guns have all gone you know your team hasn't been pulled out yet you know you are are not going to get Manchester United or you're not going to get Manchester City you're not going to get Liverpool I understand that completely but I think it's the only compromise that was available you know extending the carabal cup over two weeks so that you know these these sides who are in the Champions League could physically have a chance to play in it I think it's good that you you clarify that Jeff because people that are listening this morning and seeing it on social media will be like very angry but they don't understand maybe that there is eight Champions League games now eight Europa League games now last season it was six wasn't it in the Champions League so them two extra games have got to be played somewhere but then on the flip side at least a draw you've got Barrow going to Chelsea nice payday Barnes did going to Manchester United nice big payday nice big um travel for the away fans yeah it still has that element in doesn't it I mean the one that catches my attention is Wimbledon against Newcastle that brings back you know a lot of memories of the old Wimbledon side and that c exploits and you feel a bit for Newcastle by the way they cannot get a home draw in this competition for love nor money but yeah as I say it's not ideal but don't necessarily look at the authorities in this country look at UEFA who decided you know they wanted more clubs in the Champions League they wanted more games in the Champions League and of course the bottom line is they wanted more games and more clubs because they want more money it's as simple as that and they didn't give any consideration to a tournament like the carabar cup Jeff would you make of the Champions League new format um well look I mean as you'll gather um I'm not necessarily the biggest fan you know it is a financial thing purely look the way things work out there are positives you know teams are going to play eight different sides which is great gives a lot of variety in terms of um the qualifying groups but seriously is anybody really going to want to see Man City against let's say young boys of Switzerland you know who one of the times have come through qualifying I don't think so there are going to be a lot more mismatches that is for sure there are going to be a lot more five six and seven Nils it has been predictable in the past and and U will say this format means that every day game will count because he could lose three or four and still qualify for the next phase yeah but one of the Bonkers things to me you know guys is if you go to win the Champions League you might have to play as many as 17 games now that's crazy in a time when we're talking about cutting down on the amount of games players have got to play yeah absolutely you've seen last season Jeff um new custle you know getting them big games against PSG Dortmund how exciting would it be for every one involved with like Aston Villa for instance not been in this competition you know for so many years now watching a draw live at 5:00 p.m. yeah I mean it's brilliant it's going to be a very different draw of course as well it's not it's not going to take the two or three hours that it usually does it's going to be over pretty much like that I would imagine but look it's fantastic for Villa isn't it and um but again having the extra games eight games that's even more of a burden on their resources and you know what it's like Gabby having to cope with Premier League FA Cup carabal Cup champions league all at the same time that's one one heck of a strain on res I'm watching Matty Cash go down Jeff against Arsenal and then Leon Bailey went down like uh oh uh oh yeah it's could one of them Seasons like you know like for them teams like you says all them games and your squad becomes very thin yeah I suppose the compensation is you know they are going to play at least a couple of weaker teams maybe might even three or four weaker teams in their group you know so without being too arrogant and you know um in terms of English football they may be able to get away without having their strongest side in some of those games but it's fantastic Adventure isn't it for Villa I'm really looking forward to it they met oai Emory the other week and um yes he he's very much hoping we we talked about eight games in the Champions League and he said eight he said hope it's a lot more than eight yeah lovely Jeff just a quickie looking forward to Old Trafford at the weekend Manu Liverpool it tell us much about United or Liverpool are favorites oh I think Liverpool definitely the favorites Al definitely the favorites I mean they've started well they were really impressive second half of the opening game against dip s they were pretty decent throughout the game uh last weekend as well um against brenford Manchester United I think they still massive massive question marks they played okay Brighton um but you know when you defend like they defended for that last goal oh dear me you know salah's eyes must be lighting up because he looks like he's absolutely up for it this season yeah so for me Liverpool's strong strong favorites H Jeff nice one
