Iowa 2024 College Football Predictions! - Hawkeyes Full Preview

[Music] the sport s be giving you guys our 2024 season predictions for the Iowa hawkey the team that went 10 and four over on the 2023 season this was a good team last season made it to the Big 10 Championship won the Big 10 West overall got to a pretty good bll game as well but this was also one of the strangest teams in the country Iowa last season on offense was one of the worst teams in the country but their defense was one of the best teams in the country so I mean you consider I feel like this defense defensively this team could have been an as Contender last season it was just the offense that was that bad to the point where this team simply couldn't have been but how will this team be in 2024 this is a team that should be a bit more balanced in 2024 so with that how's this team going to be that's what'll be tied back here today we'll be looking at the Players this team will be losing and returning and prct their schedule top to bottom in this video so with that let's get started looking at quick recap at 2023 once again the record Being 10 and4 just to put it into perspective a little bit this was a 10- win team last season they won the Big 10 west but they didn't put up more than 27 points in any game last season except for one that was against Western Michigan when this team put up 41 points otherwise this was still a 10- win team last season that didn't even touch 30 points that's truly an insane stat especially when you compare this team to the rest of the country I mean that also goes to show just how good this defense was this defense didn't allow more than 14 points in any game uh from October 7th all the way until the Big 10 Championship when they took on Michigan so this defense was incredible one of the best in the country I would say but their offense was easily one of the worst so I mean it's truly a strange team when he consider that took on Michigan for the Big 10 title got shed out there and then Sam against Tennessee when this team took them on in the Citrus poll so a 10- win team last season that won the Big 10 west but will be remembered for uh being just a very strange team for sure but looking forward to 2024 with your roster preview I would say this offense looks to be much improved this season deel Spencer petus both gone so it's up to Kade magnam who's coming back from injury I really think that I mean if magnam can stay healthy this offense should be in pretty good shape I mean the backfield looks really good LESA Williams coming back same with Caleb Johnson uh both backs were not bad last season but this receiving core was pretty weak overall combined with a terrible quarterback situation that's why this offense was just so terrible but the receiving cour is going to have decent experience having second tight end I mean second and third tight ends coming back for Iowa so they have pretty strong tight end core with the Hawks and then Kaleb Brown who was the second receiver last season so I would say this offense looks much better than the defense also looks pretty good you only lose one on the D line and then one in the secondary both guys you're losing we're key Playmakers last season on the defense but I mean otherwise this is a team that's going to have some pretty good experience so I'd be pretty optimistic for the Hawks this upcoming season 32nd ranked recruiting class in the country ninth in the Big 10 got six four stars coming in 15 three stars I would say things are looking pretty good for Iowa in 2024 it's just a matter of I mean this defense is going to once again be really good it's just a matter of can the offense improve I mean that was such a big issue last season I mean I mention I mentioned it before this defense could have led this team to be a big time call a triple playoff Contender the defense was that good but the offense was that terrible to the point where this team just had no chance so now that's really the big question is this offense looking forward to 2024 but with that let's take a look at the schedule now looking forward to 2024 got Illinois state in week one easy FCS opponent there to kick off this season then Iowa stayed at home in week two got Troy in week three and then first conference game at Minnesota and then off to Ohio State so two Road conference games to open up the Slate then you got Washington at home Michigan State on the road Northwestern at home Wisconsin at home and then two more Road games at UCLA at Maryland and the Nebraska home to finish out the regular season this is a very manageable schedule I would say for the Hawks Ohio State's easily the toughest game going to Columbus there otherwise I mean I don't really see any big standouts on this schedule Wisconsin could be okay I mean Minnesota I don't think they'll be very good Washington could be decent maybe even same with Nebraska Nebraska should be much improved so I mean 2024 things are looking pretty optimistic for this team looking at the first month of action I think this team starts 4-0 Illinois State easy win Iowa State a close win here I do think Iowa State could be a decent team in the Big 12 maybe a seven or eight win team so I do think this is a close one but having the HomeField Advantage there I think that's going to be a nice win there for the Hawks and their defense shows up Iowa State's offense isn't very good so I think this defense can take care of them Troy easy win Minnesota is not going to be very good this season but going on the road there that's the only reason I see this game being close I do think Iowa wins it by 10 points to a couple of touchdowns I think Minnesota once again is they're in very much a rebuild phase right now don't see them being very good so 40 start is very much reasonable but I do think he dropped this one at Ohio State going up against the Buckey is a really strong defensive team they're going to be a brutal Team all around this season a very talented roster um they've got very high expectations I mean I think Iowa maybe can hang in there for a little bit but I just think this offense going up against the Ohio State Defense defense it's going to be pretty tough to win that one especially on the road in early October and then you got Washington at home Huskies this season I mean they're not the same team that they were last season I still think Washington could be a solid seven or eight win team this season but once again it's just not going to be the same I think a pretty nice win here against the huskys there on the 12th and then Michigan State on the road really don't expect much out of the spans but I think going on the road there he'll be a close one but I think you find a way same with Northwestern I think he take care of them no problem so 7 And1 going into November this will be one of the top teams in the Big 10 I think going into the Wisconsin game and you win a couple to start off November close games against Wisconsin and UCLA but you win both games I think Wisconsin's kind of a tossup game I wouldn't be surprised if the Badgers found a way there but I do think you win both of those that puts you at what a 9 And1 record going into the Maryland game but this is where things I do think a little bit tricky Maryland this season I think a lot are sleeping on them Maryland could be halfway decent team I think they get to a Bull game for sure I don't see them being a Darkhorse Contender but I do think this is kind of one of those matchups maybe you sleep on a little bit and Maryland finds a way to steal a win off of Iowa and then he beat Nebraska home to finish out the regular season so I've got 10 wins for Iowa this season I think 10 wins is extremely realistic for this team I think Ohio state is a guaranteed l loss um I mean if you can beat Ohio State that's huge for this team that really sets up a potential I would say undefeated season for Iowa but I do think this team is Ted to it's just a matter of what losses what two losses this team takes it could be Ohio State in Wisconsin or Ohio State in Maryland like I have it or even Ohio state Washington we'll just have to wait and see but I think 10- two is where I was going to be this upcoming season so looking at the range I would say 12 and0 the ceiling so an undefeated season is I'm not ruling that out I think that's kind of unlikely I think this team at least takes one loss for sure uh but 12 and the ceiling seven and five is the floor I think a pretty good season coming up here for the Hawks this is going to be a strong team should be improved on offense a strong defense this will be a better version of last year's team that was just so terrible when it came to the offense but once again now when you consider the quarterback situation it's going to be pretty critical that magnam stays healthy and that this offense in general stays healthy this upcoming season but with that let me know your thoughts in the
