Luke Breust Challenges James Sicily to Golf For Game 150

welcome James game 150 this week I've brought you down to one of your favorite places probably not your most favorite golf course but uh a little nine Hole uh pit and punt so we'll play a few holes uh and give an insight into your career and um some of the highs and lows I guess yeah laughing looking forward to it so okay we'll do 9 match play obviously Auto two put we got no putter so we'll just part with the wedge we have one crack at it yeah done oh no way yes that was vomit you got some Punky luck how you play ble boys oh that's in the pot oh so you need to get pretty close so talk to me about early days you moov in with Jack Gunston didn't know what avocado was didn't know what rasberries were I didn't know a lot of things when I was that age pretty Raw coming out of Melton but yeah come a long way I think and had a had a lot of good people around me like yourself and Jack obviously got good strong relationship with you guys and then even through the club uh claro had a big influence on my career and a lot of coaches and then Rob McCartney my wife and Sam so had a lot of good people in the club which you would know and vouch for and um got a lot of them to than for sort of uh where I'm at at the moment what about early days though you were a drafter as a forward so beautiful kick what did you struggle with what did you find easier like you obviously kicked a few bags here and there but I think a lack of Supply lack of Supply early on in my career you know I was probably the sixth string option behind behind rough Gunners seral yourself poppy so it was hard going but at at the same token like I was I wasn't ready had a game against Adelaide where I played really well as a Defender and then I sort of just um click just clicked from there well I think I win this whole couple of famous bision one was Taylor in so I'm still adamant that that is kicking in danger out as well and I reckon Taylor just telling him mate focus on the foot you're obviously just a passionate man and um so competitive that you want to win yeah you're right back then like my biggest my biggest strength was also my killes heel with like the the passion and not knowing how to channel it in the right way and you can be that type of person as long as it's channeled in the right direction it's not hindering others so a lot of time lot of maturity yeah device and stuff like that yeah you're still away so I'm one up yeah one up these are hard aren't they yeah it's rock solid see I don't think it's going to spin oh rock hard green too long the lack of quality of golf we B the wrong tools oh that's not it that's going to be a hard part going to roll off it's not very good very good golf you got to drain that yeah got to give it a run oh that's pretty good I would not have been surprised if he nailed that H there few young guys actually when I asked him what to ask you they said you're so selfless and team orientated with AFL they're a little bit worried about your gaming career and if it's not the sicy show then um you're not very happy apparently well yeah that's probably a fair point you go from being a superstar on the AFL field to then being you got to be a role player and you're not happy you're not happy with it yeah I'm noty being put in the Box all right two up two up I need to lift that's a nice shot oh spin oh it's still pretty good yeah I'll take that oh it's good but it's too long sit oh my God air I don't think I can hit it any softer 2020 one of our favorite years Hub uh Hub year yeah so we got shifted all around the country and then did your knee over in Pur so yeah the the ACL the recovery um yeah rehab and then getting back to playing some of your best footy because post that you go on to win BNF all Australian um have had some pretty significant years it was hard at the start you know like you guys were all still in the hub and I was back home in Melbourne like you don't realize how much you miss something or how much you take for granted until it's taken away from you and in the time they had away from the game was able to sit in the coaches boxes and be involved in meetings and was the whole 2021 SE yeah see the other side of footy and I think that the route I'll go down post footy is staying in footing in it so you go on 2022 so all Australian peterman's medalist snubbed in 22 yeah don't know how I think I was rated one in too many categories that year so they didn't um they didn't put me in this is uh this is gone in well that's good hands see it see it see it it's just no way that's off the green g what is going on this is usually your strength mate bladed that oh that's rubbish so what's that four four I've got to get up and down [Music] again you give me that yeah I'll give you that it's a wed length half tle 22 so we go into a BNF year for you what do you remember from that year yeah I think just the general excitement of just being able to play again and I think having the year in between have a little circuit breaker I found it really refreshing um to take sort of any Silver Lining out of it got going and um yeah found my groove again yeah sis the frustrations of being on the sidelines for a year and a half good Mark by sic that is a great Mark that's a nice shot oh stain there is it that's robbery that was nipped Lot robbery 60 I just need the same as before don't I yeah oh that's good get in the hole this this no spin Royal Melbourne greens 2023 your first nod as an all Australian so what did that mean to you and has it always been on your your radar it was definitely yeah it was definitely a goal of mine to to try and become Australian and be recognized as a good player and get some validation for some hard work so probably probably relief and then also yeah a bit of validation and knowing that you uh put in some hard work and you get a little bit of reward oh that's what I needed now I'm back in the game oh no and water go you saying that's a hazard no I'm not say that's a hazard so you you'll play three yeah oh o so what you're in for four I'm in for four yeah so you to get up and down catch it I'll give it back to you this isn't the strongest part of my game this what's one of your favorite game like ever favorite game yeah do you remember one where you just H there was a game against Adelaide I think maybe 2018 yeah uh at the G and I was playing 10 half back and kicked like three goals in a half they were all just from like outside 50 yeah right and one of them like I was screaming at Isaac he just picked the ball up and heard the voice and he like didn't even look and he just like went like that and it it somehow got to me and I kicked the goal like that was probably one of the the funnest games that I've individually had but the game on the weekend that's just gone against Collingwood like when you perform like way above expectation and what people think like there's some of the the best ones the best ones yeah oh Bo that's the way you got to do it you got to go higher at the moment it's yeah it's we're riding a massive wave and um we enjoy our fooie and have a lot of fun but then we're also as you know like these young guys they work so bloody hard and they got great work ethic and although we are a suppose a happy team at Hawthorne but we also we work really hard too which is so easy for us to lead and or just be be leaders like they're not high maintenance at all yeah exactly right yeah it's it's fun this hasn't got a distance he that's a nice shot oh and a bit of RIT bit of r on it was [Music] crispy see this is for the win or I've got to then drain that yeah a shock left it low pick it up so I've got to get this back it two up two up oh here we go up again always have aspirations to be the captain and uh what's it been like once you actually have taken it over when I first got dropped it I thought it wasn't even on the radar yeah and then I reckon maybe six or seven years in the in at the club I probably probably felt that I could have some um I felt like I did have some influence and stuff like that around the group and like we've had a bunch of great leaders at the club all vastly different people so that's something that I found um that's that's worked really well for me like pick picking little bits from everyone cuz they're completely different people as I said like good luck so still two up for to play [Music] oh oh that's pretty good again as well clinic at the moment just flying him in there oh he's pulled it he's got to go as well oh no it's about what's your favorite Golf Course you've ever played James I probably have would have to say peble Beach the trip that we went on yeah uh the year just gone that was uh that was amazing to play course that it's got like you just watch all the time oh so I've got to make this you get an auto T part oh yeah that's generous that's Square we obviously love golf the other spot we love getting down to is Tasmania and bambole so you play we play for a red jacket down there have you been close to winning one of those or never never never so what you guys may not know is like whenever we have a tournament or play for something when there's a group of 10 or 12 like I'm way down the bottom oh bite oh it's yes it's on the green is it yeah it's Auto two oh oh oh B oh my God another air male that is unlike you to be long it's not about how long fire you hit it it's about how accurate you are just like my goal kicking all right have you got any funny moments or things that have happened over the journey had so many cringe celebrations that I regret now oh see sit see oh I think it's going to roll off a it's going to be an anable late isn't it stormy so I've got to drain this [Music] yeah jeez it's pretty good let's talk about Emma and Eddie at home but then Emma obviously been your rock for so long now um does so much around home for you and then learned so much from her as well like a lot of her values and strengths and who she's as a person are not necessarily mine so I think and and vice versa with with me and her so I think we've been able to rub off on each other and I mean she's made me a lot more well-rounded as a person so yeah that's why I'm married really yeah put this in the hole yeah what is this uh 50 m now oh no game's down he doesn't care [Music] anymore carry it is carrying
