NOW IT MAKES ME LIKE -- YO, NOW I'M NOT GOING TO GET A SANDWICH. >> Reporter: THE CDC SAID AT LEAST A DOZEN PEOPLE WERE AFFECTED IN NEW YORK INCLUDING FOUR IN THE CITY AND TWO IN NEW JERSEY. OF THE TWO FATALITIES, ONE WAS IN NEW JERSEY. >> SUPER MARKET, IF THEY HAVE THOSE TYPES OF MEAT -- >> Reporter: STOP AND SHOP CLOSED THEIR DELI COUNTERS FRIDAY AFTER DEEP CLEANING EQUIPMENT AND REMOVING PRODUCTS THEY REOPENED. THE CDC IS URGING CONSUMERS TO TOSS ANY RECALLED DELI MEAT OR REACH OUT TO THEIR LOCAL STORES FOR RETURNS. DOCTORS SAY IF YOU HAVE RECALLED DELI MEAT AT HOME -- MAKE SURE THEY CLEAN THE SURFACES CAREFULLY. SYMPTOMS CAN OCCUR UP TO TWO MONTHS AFTER EATING CONTAMINATED DELI MEAT AND INCLUDE GI ISSUES, HEADACHE, EVER, MUSCLE ACHE OR FEVER AND CAN BE TREATED WITH ANTIBIOTICS. THOSE WHO ARE ARE AT GREATER RISK. >> THEY HAVE SEVERE DISEASE WHICH COULD INCLUDE MENINGITIS. OR THE INFECTION COULD GO TO THE BLOOD AND CAUSE WHAT IS CALLED BACTERIA. THOSE CASES PATIENTS BECOME SEPTIC. THEY MIGHT END UP IN THE ICU, IN THE CRITICAL UNIT AND THE MORTALITY WILL BE HIGH. >> Reporter: THE CDC SAID THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE INFECTED IS MORE THAN LIKELY HIGHER THAN WHAT IS BEING REPORTED AS SOME PEOPLE RECOVER
