looks like it's going to be tough to score in this one really good pitching so far so why not try to put some pressure on them and see if you can steal the back get in the scoring position sharp grounder that's through for a base hit and they strike first as they take a one- nothing lead comes through with the RBI couldn't get any air under it but he smoked that ball back up the middle timing was just perfect got great wood on it and there's just no chance for the infielders with how hard he hit him and now they've got some speed on first so we'll see if they try to get him into motion so and strike two it really looks like these hitters have been in between with their timing today good fast ball excellent slider but they've not been able to commit to one velocity and stay there good late cut for the strike out there that thing really got in on him and you know the cutter isn't really a huge swing and Miss pitch most of the time because it's not really meant to move a whole lot you're just trying to miss the big part of the barrel and maybe get some weak contact but that one right there did a whole lot more than that that was a really good pitch he makes the catch and there's two down I always remember watching Johan Santana pitch and when he was in his prime you would see a lot of guys out in front right-handers pulling that change up in the stands and then fouling the fast ball the opposite Fe well we'll hold that thought as that's the third out welcome back we go to the eighth now it's going to going to be Jake Cronin worth and he lays down a bun and he's safe at first well singy that was really nice looking able to get it down and in a good spot and he makes it look easy bat angle was perfect Barrel stayed above the hands could almost walk to they weren't able to do it right there they're going to have to make some type of adjustment or guys are going to be running all game cronenworth at second with nobody out black kcks over cronenworth Peralta gets the ball now and one thing on him he's been really good this season at keeping the ball in the park not an easy guy to take deep and a 3-1 on the way in the air left side and it drops in and the lead off man aboard well that was one of those high percentage Advantage counts where batting averages are just so much higher that's a ball that a lot of times you'll see the short stop or left fielder be able to get to if it hangs up in the air long enough but right there it just died and found a way to drop in on the green stuff with base hit two and two [Applause] if you're going to get something going this is the time to do it you get the lead off man on everybody's got to look over the shoulder and say I'm just going to keep the line moving don't try to do too much now boo it becomes pretty difficult as a teammate when a guy's struggling like this you don't know if you want to go up and tell him to keep swinging it or if you want to give him his space what exactly he needs but right now it's clearly a struggle for him and you're just hoping that somehow some way it'll click and he can get out of this as quickly as possible man at first Nick Amed here to hit over to First out number three so they turn to the veteran pitcher in this spot Tyler Rogers definitely a guy that pounds the strike zone makes hitters earn their way on base and rarely gets in trouble because of free passes try to on his way on and he grabs it foul here's a two- two stays alive swings through that one it's a strike out and that's the first out third time he struck out in this one and definitely an individual performance you want to flush he just hasn't looked very comfortable up there just one of those days but when you're still winning the ball game at least you can focus on doing your part to maintain that lead and getting that W and a onew swing and a miss struck him out chance to strike out the side now you talk about the benefits the advantages of Rel levers who can come in and get the swing and Miss whether it's inherited runners or maybe a little Jam that they get into themselves knowing that they can miss the bat tell you what that's huge and can change the ball game [Applause] got him and good work there as he gets a one two three all set for the bottom of the night and here's the first baseman Carter [Music] alredy here comes the closer here in the nth Robert Suarez and he's been fantastic this year really stingy in terms of of allowing base runners he's just got great stuff that's tough to square up foul ball still a one and two count swing and a miss struck him out one out bottom of the nine so the bullpen doing a nice job backing up the effort from their starter yeah we've seen some pretty excellent pitching out of this staff so far I mean they've come in ready to do their job and get outs they've been pretty tough to get to in this one and down on strikes he goes now only one out remaining and up next for the Giants Lee on the line base hit Joy gets on base and keeps it going now he'll turn for second and he's in with a standup double couldn't have timed it up any better than that you'll often hear the phrase short to it long through it and that's a great example of it right there got the Barrel in The Hitting Zone early squared it up with the well time swing and came away with a beautiful Line Drive in center field and a one two ripped towards third throw to first ball game and the Padres take the first three games of this four game set another day another win I really think these guys have forgotten how to lose a
