FIRE, Possible Explosion and Power Outages Onboard Icon Of The Seas | Carnival Signs 10 Year Deal..

Intro there is a fire aboard the world's largest cruise ship and also reports of power outages Carnival cruise lines and the Port of Seattle sign a 10-year agreement if you are looking to cruise to the beautiful French Polynesia especially Tahiti and Bora Bora well there is one luxury Cruise Lines who can take you there we've got a lot of cruise news so let's Swan Dive right into it [Music] Carnival Signs 10 Year Deal hello everyone it's Cynthia your host welcome back to Today's Show well our first cruise news story will take us over to Seattle on today which is June 25th of 2024 the Port of Seattle signed a 10year agreement with Carnival Corporation and this agreement has the um exclusivity or the right to extend this agreement additionally five more years if it works out well what is the agreement all about this is a 10-year preferential birthing agreement between the Port of Seattle and Carnival Corporation and when we say Carnival Corporation we mean all of Carnival's Brands which include Carnival Cruise Lines poen America Princess Cruise Lines and card so this 10-year term will be set beginning this year of 2024 and it will go all the way through the end of 2033 this agreement is not necessarily new uh they've had agreements between the Port of Seattle and Carnival Corporation before but this just continues to build on the agreements that they've had previously now what this agreement is offering include bringing in an estimated $86 million in Revenue with they're saying a minimum of$ 550,000 Revenue producing passengers coming through the Port of Seattle each year and this is just an estimate there are reports that that total could grow to over 273 billion annually this agreement will also help to advance sustainability in the form of shore power options for the terminal as you know Carnival Corporation has been the leader in their Shore power advancements uh being ahead at least two to three to four years of other Cruise Lines the goal will be to have the Port of Seattle all plugged up and ready to go for Shore Power by 202 7 and Carnival has agreed to reach out to to seek commercial agreements with other Cruise companies so that they are able to plug in to shore power at Terminal 91 Carnival Corporation has also agreed to be a pilot for biofuels used on cruise ships Carnival and the port will collaborate on non-fossil fuel demonstration projects and then they will study the results to see how they can best bring forth this end goal of having biofuels used aboard cruise ships Carnival Cruise Lines has also agreed to a local sourcing policy and what that just means is they make are making a commitment to use local suppliers uh and vendors for their products for their produce for the things that they need aboard the ship they will support small disadvantaged diverse tribal and local suppliers in an effort to help drive the economy there in Seattle Carnival Cruise Lines will look for ways to keep people well in Seattle a little bit longer and they're going to do that by offering overnight cruise stays in Seattle either before or after the cruise itself and finally Carnival is going to work with Educators there in the Seattle area to help promote and support curriculum development experiential field-based learning opportunities to see how this cruising thing how it all takes place how it all shakes out and also internships where it is appropriate many people travel out of the Port of Seattle especially doing their Alaska cruise season and this port supports nearly 200,000 Jobs and7 billion in wages throughout this region um Bravo Carnival and Bravo Port of Seattle I am interested to know how many of you have traveled out of the Port of Seattle and um what was that experience like we have not oceanana cruises oceanana is a Ultra Premium Cruise Line we've never traveled on Ultra Premium cruise lines so this is really a cool look into how they travel they have just announced that they will be offering sailings over to the beautiful French Polynesia so that you can stop into places that have probably been on many of our bucket list such as Tahiti and Fiji two of their ships the NAA and the rata will begin these sailings in 2025 now the NAA is currently sailing their summer series in the UK Scandinavia from Southampton to Amsterdam and then they go from Stockholm to Dublin so these crw ships are not new they are currently cruising but they are just doing new itineraries in 2025 the rata is based in Seattle during the summer of 24 and she's doing Alaska cruises oceanana has long since been known to be a destination specific and Destination heavy Cruise Line and they also focus on the culinary so the two ships will be doing a series of 10day sailings which will leave from papati which is the capital of French Polynesia and they will call on PCH such as Mora fakarava nukuhiva ragora Bora Bora huahin and rtia I'm pretty sure that I didn't say some of those names right so please forgive me and let's keep going there will also be a few uh longer itineraries in particular there will be a 28-day itinerary this will sail from Papa over to Auckland which will take place in February February 25th of 2025 these Ultra Premium ships well they are small ships um about 600 to 685 passengers will max out for the number on board these Ultra premium cruise ships guests will be able to have a luxury time and get pampered and have their every need met while they go to some of the most exciting places in the French Polynesia and if they are adventurous well some of the uh shore excursions that have been created and crafted have actually been done in combination with K Nas Travelers magazine specifically for Oceana Cruises some of the adventures that they can partake in are having food from a roulette which is their word for a food truck touring downtown papy to admire some of their colonial buildings they can also swim with reef sharks on a tour that's offered by a local family aboard this family's catamaran I'm not swimming with sharks but I know some people uh adventure adventurists and Adrenaline Junkies would love that opportunity the list of these exciting uh shore excursions continue on people have an option option to do a safari this is an off-road experience on board a four-wheel drive vehicle in the mountains and valleys of Mora you can also visit a vanilla Farm in rottia now visiting a vanilla Farm is much more my speed just to let you know or you can go to Bora Bora and admire the beautiful scenery aboard your own catamaran that could work too if you are a person who enjoys the Ultra Premium Cruise life and possibly have wanted to go over to French Polynesia 2025 will be your Prime opportunity to grab one of these cruises aboard an oceanana November of 2025 all right let's talk about our final story aboard the icon of the Seas there have been multiple reports today which is Tuesday June 25th from social media and others that there is a possible explosion and fire on board the world's largest cruise ship at the time of this recording the icon of the Seas was docked in costaa Mexico the ship was scheduled to visit costaa today from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. but as I stated at the time of this recording and it is slightly after 700 p.m. the ship was still there in costaa so today at a approximately 300 p.m. guests were said to hear a shuttering and a shaking aboard the ship and then this was soon followed by a call aboard the overhead sound system of Bravo Bravo Bravo and if you haven't seen my video of all of the secret codes aboard cruise ships I'm going to leave that up here and I'll put a link down in the description below so that you would know anytime that you're cruising and you possibly hear one of those calls um aboard the cruise ship on on the loudspeaker what is that secret language because there is an entire secret language that the crew and the captain use to communicate and they don't want to maybe alarm all of the passengers or you know make them nervous or anything so there's a secret language that they use to communicate what's going on on the ship and bravo bravo bravo is usually used to uh let others know that there is a fire on board during the same time there was a power outage aboard the ship and this affected almost everything from the air conditioners to the elevators and even the state room doors at this time any guest that was off of the ship well they were not allowed to return back to the ship because the scanners that you used to scan back in uh they were down and they were not um in use at that time it is possible that this fire started in the engine room because guests could also hear talk about I95 and that's a a nickname term used for the crew Corridor areas on aboard the ship also guests stated that they saw a lot of crew members in fire suppressant uh uniforms and outfits it has been stated that this uh power outage continued almost for an hour but it was intermittent coming and going and some things were back on in as quick as about 20 minutes I do want to mention that at no time did any of the passengers receive a notice to get to their mustard stations nothing like that this story is really brand new and it's continuing to develop so hopefully we will get some more uh information in the coming hours and of course in the next few days now interestingly enough this is the second power outage incident that has happened aboard the beautiful icon of the Seas the largest cruise ship that there is within one month on Sunday May 19th there was another power outage that happened aboard the ship just after 12:00 p.m. now during this outage the ship was out at and it affected of course like everything else when the power goes out the propulsion system the air conditioners and the elevators just to name a few this incident also seemed to be relatively intermittent meaning the power would go on and come off rather quickly in different areas of the ship the power was restored relatively quickly within a 20 to 30 minute time frame and the ship was not delayed at all it continued to go on and head to its next Port of Call with no incident and no one once again in that incident was hurt and they were never called passengers were never called to go to their muster stations very interesting um we know that anytime there's a brand new ship or building or Park something new that opens up there can definitely be some hiccups I will continue to look for updates about this situation please let me know if you have traveled
