The Problem With The Harris-Walz Interview

I've got a lot of audio from the interview that I want to play you and I want to start out with what is JD Vance put out as the epitome of KLA Harris's answer to everything last night a lot of conservatives are dragging uh Dana lash of CNN Dana Bash I'm sorry not not uh Dana lash the radio show host Dana Bash of CNN uh I know both of them they're both friends um and Dana Bash actually offered a master class in how you allow someone to expose thems as a fool you need to understand that the interview speaking it was only about 20 minutes of answers from KLA Harris and in that time we learned that she is a vapid dimwit as I have been telling you she was there are a lot of people attacking Dana Bash for not asking substantive follow-ups to a lot of the things that K said I don't think she needed to the answers were bad enough and uh the probative depth of a followup would have deprived us of the breadth of KLA Harris's stupidity it was actually I thought a good thing listen there's no way to win this if you're a reporter intending to ask substantive questions notice by the way today all the chatter about an edited interviewer are gone because K Harris exposed herself all of you who are paranoid about them editing it to make her look favorable I told you you couldn't put lipstick on a pig and call it beautiful KLA Harris did not come across well last night but I don't want to start start there except this is the quality of the answer KLA Harris gave recent polls have shown a fifth of Americans can't locate the US on a world map why do you think this is I personally believe that us Americans are unable to do so because uh some people out there in our don't have that and I believe that our education like such as in South Africa and the Iraq everywhere like such as and I believe that they should our education over here in the US should help the us or should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries that was Miss South Carolina in the Miss America contest some years ago the US Americans don't have Maps such as South Africa that was the level of substance we got from KLA Harris there was no use asking her an in-depth follow-up question when that was the level of substance she was getting I I I I don't want to start there though we'll get there but everything you need to know about the problems with k Harris's interview or the staging did you see it at all now I didn't watch it live I was actually on the road last night I had a dinner last night was on the road uh came back into town and had to go back and watch it and I was stunned and then I saw the commentary afterwards I I was driving I promised I wasn't looking at Twitter while I was driving so I came home watched the interview and then saw the social media commentary how poorly staged it was they were I think in Savannah Georgia I I don't know where they were they look like they were at a waiting room at a train station or something some like a a a cafeteria Diner at a train station it was poorly lit it was poorly staged they were poorly positioned uh the furniture was so dark it absorbed too much of the light to uh deprive them of some reflective glow of the TV lighting it was not a good uh optic for KLA Harris and by the way just so you know the campaign could have provided facilities and all of that for CNN this is not CNN's fault y'all I worked at CNN I worked at Fox News I've done campaign interviews let me tell you about my very first campaign uh big thing was Rick Perry in 2011 came to my conference to announce he was running for president of the United States States they took over the staging they used coat hangers by the way I never knew how this was done you know how when you see the flags behind candidates on a stage and they're just perfectly spread out uh with this triangle and and and they've got a perfect width they use coat hangers and they stick a coat hanger behind inside the flag to make sure the flags are spread out perfectly it's what they do they staged everything they wanted to make sure the lighting was right they had camera positions the way they wanted cameras they had microphones the way they wanted microphones they did all that now they can't do as much of that with a network but they can still do a lot of that with a network they can offer a room they can offer good staging they could offer good Optics there were plenty of places in Savannah Georgia they could have done an interview like this including outside on a rooftop overlooking the Savannah River they could have done that they could have done it at the Weston uh that is on the Hutchinson Island there looking out through a window so you see the river in the background there were plenty of places they could have offered to do it a venue that they could have done it in to make the staging perfect for CNN and they dropped the ball on that her advaned team dropped the ball all that that's not good it's like when JD Vance went to valdasta Georgia and the poor woman at the bakery where he ordered the donuts was so upset and didn't want to be on camera and wasn't engaged the advanced team is supposed to weed that stuff out and it's a failure of the advanced team to not weed that stuff out then there was of course the odity of her and Tim Walls together and neither of them had a good M it was not a good look in fact one of the answers that I think uh everybody needs to focus on is Tim Walls being asked about his military record Governor wals the uh country is just starting to get to know you I want to ask uh you a question about how you've described your service in the National Guard you said that you carried weapons in War but you have never deployed actually in a war zone a campaign official said that you misspoke did you well first of all I'm incredibly proud I've done 24 years of wearing the uniform of this country equally proud of my service in a public school classroom whether it's Congress or uh or the governor uh my record speaks for itself but I think uh people are coming to get to know me I I speak like they do um I speak candidly I wear my emotions on my sleeves and uh I speak especially passionately about uh about our children being shot in schools and around around guns so uh I think people know me they know who I am they know where uh where my heart is and again my record has been out there for over 40 years to to speak for itself and the the idea that you said that you were in war did you misspeak as the campaign has said yeah I said we were talking about in this case this was after school shooting the ideas of carrying these weapons of war and uh my wife the englishon my grammar is not always correct but again if it's not this it's an attack on my children for showing love for me or it's an attack on my dog uh I'm not going to do that and the one thing I'll never do is I'll never wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait a grammar grammar I carried these weapons the weapons of war in combat uh a prepositional phrase apparently Joe Biden is at war with the English language KLA Harris is at war with the English language and now Tim Walls is as well this man was a public school teacher well that explains everything doesn't it public school teacher at war with the English language he's his grammar it wasn't his grammar it was his truth truth is not Grammar grammar is a part of Truth his wife says it's his grammar that that listen Dana Bash did not need to go back and say wait a second grammar can you diagram the sentence for me and show me where the LIE is she didn't have to do that he did it himself and it's for us to point out the fact that he lied and he says actually my grammar was bad this public school teacher his grammar was bad where is the prepositional phrase that was bad and Tim wals please explain to us in the sentence diagram why that prepositional phrase was bad well it was bad because it was a lie that's for you and me to note Dana Bash didn't have to do that that's that's his excuse though that's his excuse and then of course there is KLA Harris KLA Harris and I got plenty of audio to Wade through with you but KLA Harris is asked about her day one priorities never mind she's been there three and a half years her day one priorities this important that you listen to this answer um we have had in the former president someone who has really been pushing an agenda and in an environment that is about diminishing um the character and the strength of who we are as Americans uh really dividing our nation and I think people are ready to turn the page on that so what would you do day one day one it's going to be about one implementing my plan for what I call an opportunity economy I've already laid out a number of um proposals in that regard which include what we're going to do to bring down um the cost of everyday Goods what we're going to do to invest in America's small businesses what we're going to do to invest in families for example extending the child tax credit to $6,000 for families for the first year of their child's life to help them buy a car seat to help them buy baby clothes a crib um there's the work that we're going to do that is about investing in the American family around affordable housing a big issue in our country right now so there are a number of things on day one what about you well I'm excited about this agenda too as I said the idea of uh inspiring America to what can be and I think many of these things that the vice president's proposing are are uh are things that we share in values in the child tax um so on day one day one is to inspire that was a terrible answer I need to give you some history here I need to give you some history in 1980 Teddy Kennedy the younger brother of John and Robert decided to challenge Jimmy Carter in the Democratic primary for president of the United States and though he lost he exposed Carter's weaknesses and and helped cause Carter to lose but Ted Kennedy lost the election when a reporter asked him what became a fatal question and one for which every candidate has subsequently had to have an answer for and that is why are you running for president believe it or not Ted Kennedy couldn't answer the question it's like no one asked asked him that why are you running Ted he had no way to know and that sunk his candidacy he was giving Carter a run for his money raising money tapping into real angst within the Democratic party and he lost he lost because he couldn't answer the question what why are you running for president of the United States Comm Harris was just asked what she wanted to do on day one and she talks about an opportunity economy do people not have opportunity right now she's been there for three and a half years she had no substantive answer and when Tim Walls is asked to chime in he's like the fields I I I support her in the fields that's a horrible horrible answer there was so much in this interview for Donald Trump to capitalize on I've got plenty of audio to to go through if you if you missed it there there's plenty of things that she said that were just baffling there was again there was no need for deep followups from Dana Bash she needed to have a broad conversation in a limited amount of time con Harris spoke for maybe 20 minutes and in those 20 minutes we saw that this is a woman incapable of a deep thought she has platitudes and she can't even tell you what she really wants to do when she becomes present she's too scared to tell you the truth the truth eludes Tim wals and Dana Bash did just by asking simple questions exposed the shallowness and vanity of a democratic campaign that really isn't ready for prime time and gave Trump so much to capitalize on
