I would picture these doors that other people just had keys to unlock with and I could I didn't have the keys but I had a demolition crew that would just like knocked down these doors I had sort of all my eggs put into just a few colleges because I was like I had I had good grades I had uh good uh test scores and whatnot so I applied to these colleges and I got in however when months later when it was time for my tuition bill you know like the projector how much would I be paying Etc and it's time to make the decision which school I wanted to go to it was ridiculous amounts amounts that I just had not accounted for like order of50 $60,000 here I was thinking you know me with my arrogance and pride thinking I can go to any school I wanted and there was a month during my summer After High School when I couldn't go to any like I couldn't go anywhere I didn't know where I was going to go my parents every weekend they would just get in their car just drive to some school I remember they drove to MTSU they drove to all these like we went to Kentucky once um and they would just like they were like don't give up hope we and they would just go knocking on doors at at the admissions office or like the international office and just practically Begg them to like do something for me my parents came here to chat State and they were like oh we have this thing called the global Scholars and they were like don't worry send us in your application we will take a look at it and I send it in and within like a day or two I found out that I got into the global Scholars Program I wouldn't be here today with if not for the global schol program a tunnel opened up and I'm so glad I took it so glad I took it so yeah so at chat I studied mechanical engineering now I am at Stanford and I'm studying I'm getting a PhD in Aeronautics and astronautics which is just another way of saying aerospace engineering what Global Scholars is to chat state is what night Tennessee is sustain for it it's kind of like their honors program for a graduate school like I get my all my tuition waved and I get a stip in as well um I went this in for thinking that I wanted to be a professor one day go into Academia do research work at a university however since going to Stanford I think I've had a shift in my mindset of just seeing how much bigger the world is because you know like I've been in Chattanooga 10 years up until that point this is the only place I knew in America by going to a place like Stanford in the in Palo Alto in California San Francisco like there's just so many opportunities uh Silicon Valley that's where like all the startups are and I have many friends who are interested in like starting companies and all these kinds of things so I've just been open my mind is now more open to either working at some industry like Space sets or even like government like NASA or something like that or you never know even like starting a company with a friend you know so um to in summary I don't really know I don't know what I will be doing but I am hopeful that like it it'll it'll be something I love and and and uh that's really all I care about at this point start here go anywhere enroll today at Chattanooga state.edu admissions
