MATCH REACTIONS! México vs Canada!

[Applause] and welcome back to pin gold the place where we discuss all things us Mt me my name isan and today I'm I am just doing this solo elay is out there doing adult stuff getting his new house ready so yeah let's let's wish him luck let's hope that he finds some fful chairs that he can use to record our episodes and not being uh standing up like he did on over the last too um so yeah today I'm here to discuss um my reactions of the recent match between Mexico and Canada that boring and lackluster Neil Neil um and yeah so that's that's what I'm going to be doing without further Ado I'm going to give you some statistics of the match as we normally do here uh 10 shots for Mexico five for Canada three on target One On Target for Canada 52% possession for Mexico 48 for Canada we had 311 passes for Mexico 281 for Canada 70% of those passes were accurate for Mexico and 68 for Canada here is a kicker 24 fouls for Mexico 19 fouls for Mexico we'll discuss a little bit that that specific thing a little bit in the in in the next few minutes three yellow cards for Mexico three for Canada six corners for Mexico five for Canada and no offsides whatsoever during this match so formation wise uhas remained with his 4231 formation like he did against New Zealand still surprised he's not using a back five but at times if you see the match you could see Eric Lita becoming a third Center back and then having the line of five I think this is a formation that is I guess uh the vanilla that he puts out there and then as the match uh goes into transition and depending on how the other position is playing he can always have a defensive midfielder become a third Center back and whatnot so I think that that's why you have two defensive midfielders in the case in this case L Romo and Eric for this match overall uh very there were some changes in the in the in the roster for this for this match you have Helo starting as a right back Victor wman replacement for Montes Johan Vasquez uh featured again and he was the captain for this match LEL malagon was the keeper instead of Raul Rangel and Rangel and then we have Jes Angulo instead of Jesus gardo on the left back edic L as I mentioned was one of the two Center defensive midfielders the other one was Lomo who repeated from last match Elio alado as a right winger Orin pinetta as the central attacking midfielder and then we had alino wera as the left Winger um in the top we had H gimenez who continues to struggle with Mexico now with 14 matches without a goal so yeah um it's been a year and some change then since the last time he scored as we mentioned in our last episode other players that saw action in this match were Alan moso Henry Martin and car Char Rodriguez who came in at the 66th minute and then we have de LZ who came in at the 83rd minute um quick a few things I mean it again I said it was a very boring lackluster match uh at times I felt that I was watching nura match instead of a Mexico match for the amount of tackles and kicks and freaking slides that I saw Mexico did there was a there was a like a 10minute Segway that where I saw like five six Falls you know back to back from Mexico I understand that alas a spee hands you're like fight fight fight I understand that but but if you do it too much it just gets boring and it just goes to show that you don't have any specific tactics or game plan for the match which I think was the central topic for Mexico today it was very difficult to follow what was the game plan for for this team what was was trying to build up I noticed like three different ways that Miko try to build up offensive transitions the first one was like direct balls direct attack or direct transition which is just long balls from the from the last line from the defensive line all the way to the top this not this doesn't benefit uh s gimenez because he's not a post he's not a number n that retains the ball and then pairing up Roberto and Cesar wera to compete Pace wise against Alonso Davis and mo bombito is just not a good plan of attack I mean I I don't know if did his homework I'm going to say he probably did but that that was not a good um game plan for from the beginning and then I saw him trying to build from the back again I don't think Mexico has the players to be pulling a tikit takaka kind of attack uh so it was difficult for them to break those um blockages that Canada was setting up because Canada had a similar formation to 42 31 which essentially nullified any tikit takaka um advances that Meo was trying to build and lastly I saw I saw I saw like this kind of a quick defensive to to offensive Transitions and again um it wasn't working because of how Canada was defending on blocks they were nullifying every single U passing route for Mexico so it was I don't know man I I just feel that U either alasco or Rafa Marquez got outplay by Jessi March and granted Canada is significantly better than New Zealand right um and so it just it makes sense that this was a tougher challenge for for Mexico aside from Canada just being a stronger Challenger for Mexico I mean there's there's a lot of pundits right now saying that against New Zealand Rafa Marquez was the the coach who set up the game plan and build everything and this time around because of the of the Mexican display which again as I said it was way more aggressive and more focused on be being destructive than you know being the team that proposes on the pitch they're saying that this was Basco ball game right game style um I just I don't agree with that kind of stuff man like I don't think it's fair to say that just because Mexico played better against a weaker opposition and they had a better display on the pitch it's because Rafa Marquez is a genius and then today that wasn't the case yes Rafa Marquez was less active on this match elasco was more uh vocal and standing up but uh I I don't agree with that kind of crap I don't agree with the likes of Alber Morales who you know likes to make a a lot of like um he likes to be divisive and just to be incendar on his comments um I'm not here to discuss him but I'm just I can see what they're saying that I I understand where they're coming from but I just don't agree with it and yeah I mean I I don't think Rafa Marquez would have make I don't think Rafa Marquez made any difference it wasn't like the the point of I don't think he's the point of Discord on on whether or not Mexico play better against New Zealand or or Canada I think it's it was just situational I also think that uh elasco understood that it was a very slow Stakes nothing to gain nothing to lose much um and he prioritized not losing because he understood that if even if he lost right there's nothing to lose here but even if he got beaten uh by Canada he understood that he was going to get significantly criticized even way even even more scrutinized by the media which right now I mean if you're watching ESPN fo P or till then I'm pretty sure they're just dogging him on the way you know on the performance of the team and how Mexico displayed and and blah blah blah you know regular pundit stuff from Mexico so um yeah I you know it's a it's one of those things where I understand those pundits but at the same time it's like come on man let's let's let's be realistic about this right it's going to take time even this is the third time of at the helm of Mexico is going to take a few matches before the team actually settles to what he wants yes it was a tough match today yes it was difficult to follow the match it was not necessarily entertaining um but but yeah I I I just I just think it's not necessarily one way or the other right uh the team is a the team and both Rafa Marquez and Basco have a responsibility um it just sucks that I think we all know that this is Vasco I think we all know that vas this is this is the kind of ball that he plays this is the kind of style that he decides to always go to he's used to coaching like small teams right with the big ones like Atletico Madrid and maybe Monteray if you want to say monter is one of the big ones in Lega makis right wink wink they they're not and I know Aldo's gonna see this and he's gonna say something but hey I digress has a reputation for being a decent coach with small teams and Mexico let's be honest it's a small team so this this is normal right this is this is we expected to see this why why make a big F out of it I don't know needless to say kind of a you know as again boring match put this play for Mexico um Canada I guess is it I guess it's it helps that they've been playing together for the last four years and Jesse March is actually not a bad coach um we never said he was a bad coach I don't know why usmnt fans thinks he he wasn't a really good coach this guy he's he prepares himself he reads the opposition he studies the opposition he preps the match against the opposition he changes is based on the opposition he this is a modern coach a contemporary coach that understands that the highest level of the game you have to be using different tactics new techniques and so I think that just helps you know this was a very even match and it it showed it showed that Mexico struggled uh way more and it was expected right uh there's no comparison between New Zealand and Canada dude just just isn't this just isn't so yeah uh the Mexico it is Mexico uh the last thing that I want to say you know as far as reaction is it's good to see that the pisas out there are not falling for this trap they are you know voicing their concerns making making sure that D fed listens to their demands the fact that we saw very few people at the at the Rose Bowl in LA and then at the uh Dallas Cowboy stadium in in um in this in this match it just goes to show that the PES are not willing to put up with this kind of uh poor displays and this you know boring product that Mexico is right now uh I encourage Al prisas and our PPG Farm to continue to voice their concerns in this way because maybe this will create will have an impact on how thefed plans um to develop Mexican football right um I know that a lot of punding a lot of people like to criticize Los pisas and the fans are here in the state saying that they are part of the problem because you know they always pack pack the stadiums and buy everything that has to do with a selection meana out of you know Nostalgia or just yearning to feel like home um but it's nice to see that you know now they're opening their eyes and you know just making sure that you know they don't they don't fall for the Trap um also there's been a bunch of Mexico matches here in the states um and I I just think people are just you know jaded dude uh we have so many soccer matches now in the states uh not only like international friendlies but also uh Club matches you know with MLS leagues cup and you name it all like all the summer freaking moletto cups that happen between European sides and MLS and you know South American teams or whatever the case may be I think people are just jaded dude and I get it I get it I'm I'm it too I don't I don't feel like paying 300 bucks to we see uh freaking Mexico uh do like a freaking give away of tackles and slide tackles and whatever against the opposition and you know again thinking that I'm watching an uras match right so anyways these are the reactions of of the Canadian match Mexico plays against the usmnt and Valencia uh in October in the next round of FIFA friendlies they play us and guara and they play against Valencia in pbla it's nice to see Mexico going back to to play actually in Mexico um and we'll see how the fans treat them uh you know that they are a little more aggressive than
