air and Rafa marquez's first uh two matches in charge of you know Mexico obviously um the third stint for Vasco air uh but uh yeah they play Canada they play New Zealand um if you guys have not checked out our roster reaction video for that bal's first roster check it out uh you know we gave our reactions to to pretty uh you know they had some questionable items I think um but I think a lot of people would be happy with h the youngsters and especially Alex Pia being called up but Adrian why don't you give us a a real quick rundown again for those that didn't watch that video of of who was called up for these matches you got it boss so we got four Keepers uh anel malagon from America r r from Chas and Alex P from Athletic Club defensas we haveo from burnmouth Alan moso from Chas from America Johan Vasquez from Genoa Victor Gman from mon Jesus Angulo from Tes Jesus gardo from TCA and Cesar Montes from UD alaria midfielders we have L Romo from cruo Fel ambri from monter Eric L cruo Charlie Rodriguez cruo Luis Chavez D mosu Sebastian Cordova from tigas and or pinea from a Athens yeah and forwards we haveo lies from tigas kones from whatever all name Saudi Arabian team he's playing I don't know which one is it I have to look it up and I I swear to God I'm going to learn the name Roberto Alvarado from Chas Marcel Flores fromes Cesar wera chino wera from Pumas elot martinz from Pumas as well Santiago Jimenez from fard and Henry Martin from Glo America uh yeah so a lot of like we said mixture of youngster and um some uh you know some veteran Squad here um interestingly enough the tig Pumas game yesterday Rafa Marquez was there watching a lot of I guess Mexican Nationals playing there you know we obviously Chino wera mot Martinez you have Marcelo Flores right El bro yeah there's a lot of guys there that um you know play for three so was an important match for Rafa to be there for uh but September 7th sees Mexico playing New Zealand at AT&T Stadium and then three days later Tuesday SE 10th SE Mexico playing Canada at the Rose Bowl um so Canada obviously a foe that Mexico's familiar with New Zealand um has had you know matches with Mexico in the past Mexico usually tends to you know very favorable to towards Mexico and I guess even very favorable towards Mexico against Canada until you know recently right so um Mexico head-to-head against New Zealand at least in the last five matches dating back to June 2011th they played June 2017 Mexico won 21 in the confederations cup uh 2016 Mexico played New Zealand and won 21 International Friendly uh New Zealand against Mexico uh Mexico won 42 in 2013 and then Mexico beat New Zealand in November 2013 as well uh 5-1 and uh back in 2011 intern International Friendly 3 n for Mexico uh Canada yeah go for it I was going to say that those two matches from 2013 are the ones that the the playoff to playoff to get into the world yeah after the Mexico qualified as I think fourth Inon or fifth and then play against Graham Susi qualified Mexico that's right um Mexico vers Canada last five matches uh 2021 Canada beat Mexico in the FIFA World Cup qualifying 2-1 uh they tied in October 2021 also FIFA World Cup qualifying 1-1 in July 2021 m beat Canada 2-1 in the Gold Cup also in 2019 Meo beat Canada 3-1 in the Gold Cup in March 2016 Meo beat Canada two nil as well there in the World Cup qualifying um what do you think from potential lineup again you know we we kind of gave our reaction we did give our reactions to this uh roster um you know there's definitely you know one of Three's favorite Golden Boys of the last two yearsan tuna is in here um you know we have Henry Martin back um we have Alex Padia well he get his uh you know debut or malagon that you know Miss America dang does he take over again where he left off we know Vasco likes playing with five in the back how do you think this team lines up against these two Nations I think with withas is going to be a no-brainer man I think he's going to stick to what he knows and what he feels the most comfortable which is a back of a back line of five So based on the players that I see on the roster and an understanding that he has a preference for those who have European exper experience I think that we'll see julo as a right back Johan Vasquez Cesar Montes and Victor Guzman as the three center backs um and then gardo as the left back um even though J gardo and Victor wman are not necessarily um what's it called they don't have European experience um if you look at the roster I think Victor wman is slightly ahead ofel Rees and Jesus Gallardo is definitely one player that elas has has publicly said as you know when he was a back in 2022 for for telisa that he likes jardo and to be fair jard is having a decent season so far with TCA right um we just as we were mentioning on our on one of our weekly Recaps from Liga meis he is flying with TCA I don't know what they're giving him out there if it's a torizo the TOA or just the fact that maybe TOA is more boring than Montery he hasn't gone out to party whatever he's sleeping he's sleeping well exactly because it's well known that he's a you know he's a he's a party monster uh but he's doing great so I I I think that even though Elbas air tends to prefer a more defensive lineup like he PRI he prioritizes the defense jesa offers something that jesula doesn't what which is you know mixing really well with the offensive transitions right because can run the pitch back and forth he's better at better at attacking at defending but he is way way more effective at attacking thees Angulo and he's rough about the same when defending with against Sano so I think that's going to be the back five I think he's going to have two pivots in the middle one of them is gonna has to be Luis Chavez and the second one I think he's gonna stick with with L Romo just because you don't have Enon Alvarez right now but but even if you have Enon Alvarez man I thinkz would have taken a third Center back spot over Victor Usman and I think he would have still played Luis Chavez and L Romo as the two pivots I think L is going to be more of that you know link between the you know the Midfield and the offensive and L Ramo to be one of those that plays a little behind Luis Chavez and can become a you know an additional Defender because L Roman knows how to play as a center back as well and the top three I think is gonna be Helen konz on One Wing Henry matin in the middle and Roberto p in the other side of the pitch so you know if your prediction comes true your disappointment for Santiago Jimenez um can be relegated again to the bench for Henry Martin as was the case before cup America um so interesting man you're thinking if Von comes back he will be part of that Center three I think so I I really think so man um and it isn't because I don't I don't think L Romo is better than Anon Alvarez as a number five I thinkon Alvarez is definitely the best number five that Mexico has but since elasco has to do the best what with what he has I think he will just essentially put the best that he can on the back so at least in that way he can throw bodies at you know at the opp position whenever they are attacking me um and to be quite Frank I meanz is also a decent Center back he's not he's not bad on it right so I think he rather have someone with his leadership and his skills and his height uh in the back because I mean as we saw with jimy loano and and this is nothing this is not necessarily edson's fault I think jimy loano was using Edson in the wrong uh in the wrong way because he was asking Edson to be you know the the middleman to be the one who was linking the entire team to be the playmaker and we all know that Alvarez is not a playmaker is he's a destructive midfielder he's a defensive midfielder he's there to disrupt and recover balls and then let the play go right let the ball go he's not the one who's going to carry the ball dribble around and then start building up the offensive that that's not who he is and it's nothing against that's just not his style he's not suited for that specific role so that's and on the other hand L Romo while he can also be a destructive midfielder he has he's more prone to be to be to join the offensive in a exactly exactly so that's why I think even ifz was still here or he was called up um we would assume him as a center back interesting and uh you know obviously like said he likes to play with the back five vas air is he gonna miss having herard oragas presence going forward and you know here here's the deal um if Jesus gardo continues to play at the level that he's currently playing I'm going to say no um I don't know if you if you catch any of the recent monter matches in meis I have catched at least the last three of them and i' I've been paying attention to Hera not because I don't like her oraga and I want to find something to say against him just because I know that that's one of the that is one of the weakest spots that Mexico has right now in terms of depth um unfortunately for Hera monter has not been playing really well collectively as a team but when you look at him as an individual player I wouldn't necessarily say that he is not doing well but he's not doing he's not putting out his best performance yet you can you know you see him going up up the front and help the offensive whenever he can but he's significantly struggling coming back to help the defense and that's one of the things that I think elasco really wants to see on his win backs he wants to see a win that can run the entire pitch back and forth with minimal effort and can also and can defend more that what they can attack um and so I think that's where herard oraga will be found in a in a tough spot with Bas I don't think they're going to miss him um because can do the job um but but uh yeah yeah I I think he I think for the time being gardo and ARA are interchange interchangeable and with the slight preference of gardo because of his defensive rate interchangeable in a position like you said where Meiko and we discussed this previously plenty of times um it's probably lacking the most dep um as we come to close on this video man uh prediction time how do you have Mico lining up or stacking up against New Zealand on Saturday September 7th see I want to say that New Zealand's going to should be a walk in the park but they have improved significantly not I'm not claiming that I know how New Zealand plays and I you know follow them or whatever but I know that from 2013 or 2017 the last time they played to today they have more players in Europe right now I think they have up to seven or six playing on some interesting leagues um so I think it's going to be more challenging that we anticipate um I think it's going to be a 2-1 Mexico winning that match by the minimum and against Canada I anticipate a Neil Neil match Neil Neil against Jesse mares man
