Bethany Firth on Fire in Tokyo 🔥 | Women's 100m Backstroke - S14 |Final |Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games

itself is entertainment. >> Away nicely does Firth. McTernan, she is quick, the Australian. She might come out in a challenging, in a place from which she could challenge the great British swimmers on her inside and Valeriia Shabalina is not one to discount either. She looks to be second at the moment, swimming in three. >> Nobody can touch Bethany Firth on the start. She proved it again. She is going super straight. You know how badly she wants to beat Shabalina in this event. Shabalina keeps upsetting Firth on the medal stand. Firth again - beautiful underwater. She'll come out ahead of Shabalina. Watch out for Shabalina and Jessica-Jane Applegate on the way home. >> Jessica-Jane Applegate is quick. She looks out of reach of both Bethany Firth and indeed, considering Shabalina's finishing speed, out of contention to catch Shabalina. Shabalina, three gold medals in her last three events. Will she claim gold here with a quick comeback? Bethany Firth is off world record pace. She is slowing slightly. Shabalina making up space. Bethany Firth will get to the wall first Firth is first. Touching fourth, McTernan of Australia. Just outside of the medals for Brazil. Great Britain, on the podium with two swimmers. And Shabalina has her first silver medal of these games. Firth a relay gold and two individual silvers, the 200 free and 200IM. She's got gold in an event she's won now for the third successive time. 2012, 2016 and now Tokyo 2020. >> And Firth here. It is her underwaters that are just, they are so much stronger than anyone else. You can see Shabalina pop up early. They are still underwater there. That puts her in the top position, even coming down for the first 50. Shabalina is trying to stay with her here. Again Firth goes into the wall. Look at this underwater. This is where she wins the race. It is her underwaters right here. It is only two laps. That means everything is important. Now, coming down the back half, she was really all by herself. Shabalina, she did try and close quickly on her. You can see her popping up in the bottom of the screen. Firth, she comes into the wall and she just lunges. Finally she gets first. >> Thank you, she says.
