Trending searches: the crow remake
well it's been a few days since I saw 2024's the crow starring Bill scars guard and um I can't get it out of my head so it's time to talk all the spoilers for The Crow let's go no I do what's up guys it's time for all the spoilers for the Crow as promised and uh before I get started I mean look around me I strategically placed a lot of my Crow stuff and there's some stuff you can't even see maybe I'll put some b-roll in here I even have like an action figure down there I have uh City of Angels and salvation on Blu-ray I got the UK editions back when they weren't even available in the states um or at least salvation wasn't uh I have both versions of City of Angels uh I think this one's the director's cut from e bridge and then the theatrical I think that one's back there or it might be swapped I'm not sure but of course I got the The Crow and then I got the 4K that just came out still I haven't even opened it up yet I got the freaking soundtrack um got the score back there so don't ever say that I'm not a crow fan for liking this movie cuz you are sorely missed and I stated this before the crow is tied with Halloween as my all-time favorite film I don't need to say that but um just to give you a baseline of where I'm at with this property and maybe that maybe that attributed to me liking this movie somewhat but I will say before I saw this movie I if I had to put money on it I would have said that I would come out of this movie thinking it's pretty bad just because the trailer looked so generic and I think there are some generic qualities about this movie don't get me wrong again I gave it like a a high humdrum I'd say a 3.5 out of five is generous because of uh some of the problems of the movie but I think it's got greatness in it as well and I think that's why it hasn't left my head yet and I'm kind of wanting to see it again um works and all so I will happily add this to my collection if you'll notice uh Wicked prayer is not anywhere to be found around here that movie is an Abomination and of course there were a couple people saying this is the worst Crow movie if you have seen Wicked prayer and you say that this is the worst Crow movie I'm going to say this as professional as I can you're a [ __ ] idiot all right seriously there's no way that this movie is worse than the crow Wicked prayer all right so yeah so starting off with the spoilers this movie opens up in a weird way U kind of an artistic way because you see that horse that's dying and we see what uh we find out later is a young Eric Draven walking up to the horse I think there's a lot of attempted symbolism in this movie and I don't think it all lands for sure and I think if it would have landed maybe that would have been so much better for the movie because again it's a beautifully shot film and and it opens up beautifully um and you see a little bit of what Eric's upbringing is like and um how he's been dealt a bad hand right and there's so many people in this world that are like Eric that come from like the slum parts of town and some of us we wake up and life's just on our side everything seems to click we're almost like domino in Deadpool 2 okay if youve seen bu Deadpool 2 you'll know that reference but uh yeah Eric yeah he's just had a really rough life and um I do like that this movie tries to explore a little bit of Eric's past very different than the the first movie he's more of a poet and um more of a loner in this movie you know he's not like a part of a band although music does eventually play a role in this movie because you know he meets Shelly and they both are musicians and that's kind of what brings them together which is really nice I'm such a music fan and I think that's part of the Allure of the crow franchise for me even the um not so good movies like salvation it has a phenomenal soundtrack you know and uh there's there's just something about the crow character himself or itself if you factor into it I think there is a female crow in the comics somewhere um also check out Revenge by the way that to me is an unofficial Crow movie I don't care what you say yeah there are some Liberties taken and uh the similarities are just insane and I'm literally thinking about and let me know in the comments if you want me to do this I might include revenge in my ranking you know what I think I might I think I might some people are going to get mad at me for doing that but I don't care to me that feels like a female crow movie check out my review if you want to know why but yeah I love the character that it deals with so many themes of heartache and death and and grieving and having to become a superhero out of that and I think when you look at a superhero in that fashion that has lost so much much and in himself it adds some weight I guess to the character now Shelly and Eric they meet in this juvenile hall or it's kind of like a prison I think they're adults right yeah I think they meet in this this prison but they escape and that is the easiest Escape I have ever seen this must be the worst freaking security imaginable all right I I'll definitely poke holes at that aspect of the movie but this movie isn't about a prison escape so I can see why they did it we need to get from A to B right so that's what we do they escape and then the connection between the two begins you know and they discover each other through music um they just have a lot in common they both come from similar type backgrounds I do think this movie did a really good job of building their relationship and when I saw the trailer I thought for sure this was going to be a really superficial type of relationship like we've seen a million times in movies and you just don't care anything about the characters and I'll even say this right now I did watch a few of the reviews after I posted my review and of course most of them were negative and and most of them said I don't care anything about these characters that's subed to me I cared about Shelly and Eric in this movie that's just me a lot of you might not have but uh they won me over they really did and I I figured that would be a tough thing to do based on what I had saw so far so by the time they both die which is kind of in the middle of the movie um you definitely feel for both of them and I will say to this movie's credit too at a certain point I pretty much just kind of forgot about the original movie um got it out of my head I'll never forget about the crow don't get me wrong my favorite movie but what what I'm trying to say is this movie was able to pull me in and make me forget about everything you know including the original movie which is a good good thing now I will say this I have been a part of this Crow fan film with Cody Faulk uh that's in um production right now and I remember I had talked to Cody faul about this movie movie because he knew a lot of stuff before I did I don't even know if I can say this but I'm going to say it anyway because the movie's out now but uh he told me the pacing and the structure of this movie I was like almost in disbelief like it can't be that right there's no way he puts on the makeup in the very last Act of the movie but sure enough Cody was right that's exactly what happened and I must say when when Cody faul told me that originally I was scared I was like that's not a good I think you need the crow to be the crow for at least three fours half the movie and um I think I'm partially still thinking that but uh I don't mind it I don't mind that he was the crow but he wasn't fully the crow until the last act about the middle of the movie though what I love about this is that he becomes a crow but he's not aware of it he doesn't know what is going on and the scenes where he's discovering that he is Immortal are extreme ex L violent and if you think back to the original movie like say where funboy shot him and you see that little bit of CGI and a little red dot and it's nothing crazy and this it feels realistic the the you know it it feels like a real Stab Wound like you would you would see in real life you know what I mean the attention to detail in the uh the violent scenes and the the stabbings and the the blood was uh pretty on point and I'll say this right now too I think if this wasn't a crow movie I think this movie would be accepted a lot more maybe I mean there are a lot of Revenge movies out there but I think given that I liked Eric and Shelly in the movie if they gave him different names uh it had a really great final act at at that Opera House spare no expense production-wise too just beautiful I actually loved how there was this whole theater scene going on during the thing and then that scene where Eric just walks out after he just I mean went guns blazing through everyone and uh he just like puts his arms up in front of the whole audience I thought that was so badass you know this movie is badass in its own way in a completely different way than the original movie which again I think that's just the ultimate way to pay respect to the original movie now let's talk about Danny Houston and the villains the villains are definitely going to have to win me over in repeat viewings of this movie because they didn't really do much for me Danny Houston I found him interesting because the spoiler here is that he is kind of immortal like Eric is he is more of a super villain he's he has a supernatural aspect to him to him and he can actually um coers damaged people I think that's the trick here too if it's like a really good person he can't really have power over them but people that are damaged he can you know whisper in their ear and coers them to kill and that was another little twist in this movie is that Shelly tells Eric when you find out what I've done you're not going to like me and Eric's like for forget about it I love you there's no way and then when he finally finds out what she did he didn't know right away that Rogue Danny Houston's character um you know he used his power over her and he just he kind of figures that out along the way which they didn't really drive that home that he figured it out but yeah I mean we got there and um again it's just another different angle that I thought was really cool and you know people always complain about um remakes that copy the original too much and then they complain about remakes that aren't anything like the original it's like you can't win and uh it does get frustrating you know at the end of the day I look at every movie alone in its own merits and I just judge it for what it is and I actually had some people in my comments say dude thank you so much for not being cohered because I'm not saying that I'm the only honest reviewer no not at all everybody's telling what they think about this movie A lot of people hated this movie I completely understand it but I do think maybe just maybe some people might have been coerced a little bit by that online hate train there are so many videos that came out months and months before this movie Just bashing it to death one you know if there was any kind of review stating hey this movie was actually pretty good I guarantee you nobody would make a video about it because that doesn't get clicks what gets clicks is um o the crow is going to be a massive bomb in a piece of [ __ ] and that's what we want right we want this movie to fail royally and um I love the few of us that find some kind of value in this movie and are able to push away the um you know I guess the the echo chamber that's like impending on us I found some Merit in this movie I thought this was a very well shot film I think the only issues with it were kind of the pacing and I think the villains are nothing to write home about whatsoever but this isn't about the villains this is more about Eric and Shelly and Bill Skarsgard i i s it must be frustrating for him an actor that just freaking gives everything that he has you know I watched a behind the scenes video with the director of this movie and he was talking about as soon as Bill Skarsgard sat in the chair after you know he met him for the first time for the part he immediately like you know he put on these props on his on his hair and he started like you know trying to mimic the signs of a bird and just trying to get into the role I mean from day one you know kind of reminded me of what like Andy Circus did behind the scenes when he was first trying to get the role of Gollum he had had the role but he went to Peter Jackson's own house in front of the stairs and just you know started convulsing and doing all this weird stuff like Gollum and I love when actors they really just get into roles and you know what Bill Skarsgard gave everything and I respect the hell out of that for this movie but um I I just had a stream about Rob Zombie Halloween 2 last night um with Davey Death Ray and Nick from the Lost River Drive in definitely check out those channels but I couldn't help but bringing up the crow even though they hadn't seen this movie yet and I I mentioned will there be another Halloween ends that just enrages everyone and and they're so mad that people might like it and it just hit me I think this movie might do that I think there are some people that are going to get mad at people for liking this movie but I will say on the flip side of that in my comments today um I'm seeing more positivity than negativity about this movie I think that's just the nature of the Beast with YouTube anyway though you find a review that is more on your side of the fence and and of course you know you're going to comment about it right and I think that's maybe that's what's happening because the videos where people are bashing and I'm sure all the comments are like yeah you go man this movie [ __ ] sucked I hate it maybe I'm not giving enough credit to the audience okay but um I I I'm passionate about the character I'm passionate about the crow I thought this movie was going to be horrible and it just turned out that it was the second best Crow movie by far I think it's easily the second best Crow movie and I have a major soft spot for City of Angels and salvation in a way the the acting in City of Angels is a thousand times worse than the acting in this movie okay the characters especially the villains I would say are a little better um than this movie but uh I think Bill Skarsgard is better than Vincent Perez and uh that goes a long way for a movie called The Crow the Title Character right getting back to the movie though one thing I definitely got to talk about too is the whole process of after he dies there's this character Wickman who is sort of like the skull Cowboy that never made it into the original movie and you know he's the guy he's telling Eric this is why you're here um this is why you're not dying this is what you got to do I guess to be fully realized and another big angle about this movie was Eric finds out that he can actually save Shelly and I remember I actually mentioned this on a stream a while back because the trailer had come out and I did a trailer reaction I think on one of my streams I talked about it that are they saying that Shelly could actually live and I think a lot of people were thinking no I think it's just more of a like um um a metaphor type thing no it's real she could live and she actually does live he saves her gives his own life for her in this movie which again I think it was a kind of a cool angle to go with but it was interesting like every time he would fight somebody and he would heal um there were moments where he still could die and he would wake up in the like wickman's world that Purgatory type thing you know but then eventually he realizes that he has to become fully the crow when he's pretty much just okay I've let go of everything I'm not as confused anymore about things I need to fully just Embrace this role that I have and finish the mission and boy when he does that I think the makeup looked amazing I think the the trench coat looked amazing and you know from that moment on the the movie is just balls to the wall you know it goes to the Opera just mows down everyone and it's just a really cool scene and lastly the music uh this isn't spoiler stuff but again I I got to get that soundtrack because I loved the music in this movie which surprised me I thought for sure this music was not going to be my cup of tea because I think it I thought it was going to be more for a gen z type thing and it is but the music Still Feels Like the crow the crow definitely has its own Vibe musically I think this soundtrack will fit nicely with the first three soundtracks because I don't think there is much of a a music soundtrack for Wicked prayer but yeah that is my spoiler review for the crow let me know what you guys think of this movie uh I'm kind of dying to see it again so uh anyway also be sure to come over to killer flick where talk all day and every day on Fridays Fridays follow me drums on my social spr patreon bu my coffee guys thank you so much for watching have a day and it can't rain all the time [Music] oh [Music]
