Intro what we've seen is some International uh issues over the over the last 24 hours or so um but the the most current issues that uh that we've seen this morning uh have been highlighted by Microsoft as being New Zealand specific Microsoft is How vulnerable is Microsoft a us3 trillion tech company does it surprise you how vulnerable such a company appears to be ye yes or no look I think you know any uh any technology company you know can be at risk of this particular uh type of Cyber attack and you know what we what we've heard most recently is that uh this is is most likely uh distributed denial of service attack uh this this type of attack what What is DDoS does that what does that mean distributed denial of service so this type of attack uh means you you've got uh you know a a party who control of a lot of computing devices uh somewhere so they've managed to take over you know control of of varying pieces of technology and and those devices whether it's computers uh you know Network equipment phones Etc are are flooding uh Microsoft's networks it's probably um can be a bit confusing from a someone who's not a a technologist because oh Cyber attack you think we'll have they got access uh to all my data um in this this type of situation no not at all people don't need to be fearing you know that that their their data has been impacted um you know based on everything we've heard so far this type of attack is really just it's kind of like you know if you think um of what what happens when somebody wants to do a protest on the and they decide we're going to put tractors on the motorway or we're going to you know put a whole lot of trucks on the motorway and then slow them down it's a very very similar sort of thing they're flooding the internet um you know with with um you know inappropriate traffic that's not not supposed to be there and this is um Is this damaging for Microsoft obviously the most recent embarrassment um for Microsoft after the crowd strike chaos last week is this fairly damaging for the company do you think look I I think it it's probably quite hard to to pen the crowd strike issues you know on Microsoft that was was more an own goal from crowd strike crowd strike made a you know pretty big mistake it was only uh crowd strike you know customers who were directly impacted but yeah it C it certainly doesn't help it's it's a negative thing uh that impacts their their profile overall uh but important to understand that you know there are there are technology issues going on you know all the time thanks for checking out our YouTube channel to stay up toate with all the latest New Zealand Herald News click the Subscribe button below we check out one of these videos and head over to nzherald.co.nz for more news worth knowing
