THIS IS A FILM THAT REALLY IS, ARE THESE THREE WOMEN AT THIS POINT OF DEALING WITH THEIR FATHER IN HOSPICE, THEY HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY AND CIRCUMSTANCES THAT DISRUPT THAT. >> I THINK EVERY LEVEL WHENEVER A CHILD, EVEN GROWN, GOES HOME, WE ALL REVERT BACK INTO IT. AND THAT HAPPENS TO US EVEN NOW. DOES THAT HAPPEN IN YOUR LIFE WHEN YOU GET HOME, THEY ARE LIKE, OH, YOU'RE THE BLANK ONE AND YOUR SISTERS ARE THE X ONES AND HOWEVER YOU DESCRIBE, AND YOU CAN'T SHAKE THAT NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU HAVE GROWN? >> YOU ALMOST PLAY INTO IT. AND THERE ARE SIX OF US IN MY FAMILY. THERE IS A LOT. >> I DIDN'T KNOW THERE WERE THAT MANY. >> INCREDIBLE. >> YEAH. TWO MOMS. >> BOTH MOMS ARE INCREDIBLE. >> A MIDDLE CHILD, TEN YEARS LATER. >> WOW. >> YEAH. >> SO EACH HAS THEIR ROLE, YOU FEEL LIKE? >> COMPLETELY. YEAH, AND WE JUST MAKE ASSUMPTIONS. AND I THINK IT'S PUT SO BEAUTIFULLY IN THE FILM AND THE PERFORMANCE -- WATCHING NATASHA -- >> COME ON. WHEN YOU SAID THEY HAD YOU IN MIND WHEN WRITING THIS, DID THAT -- SO YOU GUYS WERE PRESELECTED BEFORE? IS THAT WHAT IT FELT LIKE? >> I WORKED WITH HER BEFORE. IN A TV SHOW "SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS." WORKED WITH CARRIE COON'S HUSBAND ON TWO MOVIES. HE KNEW NATASHA SOCIALLY. WHILE WRITING THIS, REALIZED -- HE REALIZED HE WAS HEARING US AND SO HE APPROACHED US WITH THE IDEA OF WE WANT TO SHOOT THIS. I WANT TO SHOOT THIS ON 35 MILLIMETER. THIS IS THE BUDGET I KNOW I CAN GET. IT WILL BE HOURS. WE WILL MAKE THIS FOR NOTHING BUT WE WILL ALL BE A PART OF IT. SO WE FOUND THREE WEEKS TO SHOOT IT OVER 17 DAYS. REALLY PROUD OF IT. >> AND YOU WERE IN THIS NEW YORK CITY APARTMENT? >> YES. >> SO IT WAS THIS REALLY INTIMATE -- BOTH THE FILM FEELS INTIMATE, BUT IT MUST HAVE BEEN WITH THESE OTHER ACTORS, TOO? >> IT WAS AMAZING. AND WHILE WE SHOT IN ORDER, WHICH NEVER HAPPENS, WHICH WAS PART OF THE THINGS -- >> LIKE A PLAY ALMOST? >> YEAH. AND WE LEARNED FROM IT BECAUSE OF IT. ALSO AS PEOPLE AND ACTORS LEARNING ABOUT EACH OTHER WHILE OUR CHARACTERS WERE AS WELL. SO IT KIND OF -- IT FED INTO THE PERFORMANCES AND DECISIONS WE MADE AND THE CHOICES WE MADE. WE NEVER GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHOOT IN ORDER. IT WAS REALLY A TREAT. ALSO THEY ARE HISTORICALLY, BRILLIANT, SMART WOMEN, AND SO FUN WORKING WITH THEM. WE WOULD BE ENTANGLED ON SoFiS IN BETWEEN SCENES PLAYING THE NEW YORK SPELLING BEE. >> THAT'S YOUR GAME? >> DID YOU EVER PLAY CATEGORIES? >> I HAVE PLAYED, BUT NOT AS A GROUP. >> SHOOT ANOTHER FILM. >> YEAH.
