from the start the Athletics aren't making any money and are so bured with debt from those contracts that Ben shot has white elephant on his hands soon after shy and Mack adopted the elephant as a team symbol to thumb their noses at MG when the Athletics won the American League Championship that year the team handed out 10,000 elephants to fans who attended the parade in 1905 before a game between the two clubs mcra was presented with a miniature white elephant on a green pedestal by Ace Captain L cross the crowd laughed when a Giant's manager bow and mo courtesy more than 120 years
