DNC LAST WEEK, BRINGING THE TOTAL TALLY ABOVE $500 MILLION SINCE PRESIDENT BIDEN SUSPENDED HIS CAMPAIGN. IF YOU ARE GETTING $50, THERE IS MORE YOU COULD POTENTIALLY GIVE. ONE THING THAT CAN BE TO WORRY ABOUT CLOSER TO ELECTION DAY IS DONOR FATIGUE. THEY ARE COMING TO THE DONORS AGAIN AND AGAIN. THOSE FIRST-TIME NUMBERS SUGGEST THERE IS SOME ENTHUSIASM THERE. AND TWO THIRDS OF THESE CAME FROM WOMEN, WHICH IS REMARKABLE. OBVIOUSLY, WE HAVE A WOMAN AT THE TOP OF THE TICKET, NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT HAS HAPPENED, BUT SHOWING SOMETHING OF A GENDER GAP WHEN IT COME TO DONALD TRUMP, WHO DOESN'T DO WELL WITH WOMEN. THOSE WERE TWO NUMBERS HIGHLIGHTED IN THIS. $82 MILLION DURING THE DNC, JUST OVER HALF $1 BILLION SINCE HARRIS TOOK OVER THE TICKET. SHE WAS LEFT WITH A WAR CHEST OF $92 MILLION, SO SHE HAS REALLY EXPANDED ON IT. SONALI: TEACHERS AND NURSES, ACCORDING TO THE CAMPAIGN, WERE AMONG THE MOST COMMON DONOR PROFESSIONS. AT THE SAME TIME, A LOT ON WALL STREET WAKING UP, TEARING THINGS OVER THE WEEKEND FROM WALL STREET BOOKS WHO ARE WORRIED ABOUT THE POSTURING FROM THE HARRIS CAMPAIGN WHEN IT COMES TO CERTAIN TAX POLICIES. WHO IS SHE ACCORDING ULTIMATELY ON HER ECONOMIC POLICIES AS SHE GOES FURTHER INTO THE RACE? GREGORY: WE HAVE GOTTEN INTO A LITTLE BIT OF AN ARMS RACE BETWEEN KAMALA HARRIS AND DONALD TRUMP AS THEY BOTH LOOK TO SHORE UP SOME KEY DEMOGRAPHICS ESPECIALLY IN SWING STATES. THE BEST EXAMPLE OF THAT IS DONALD TRUMP PROPOSING NO INCOME TAXES, EARNINGS TAXES OF ANY KIND FOR TIPPED INCOME. THAT IS SOMETHING THAT KAMALA HARRIS FOLLOWED UP WITH HER OWN PROPOSAL ON. THEY ALSO HAVE DUELING CHILD TAX CREDITS WITH DIFFERENT PROPOSALS. THESE ARE EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE PROPOSALS. THE WORRY IS, IF YOU ARE GIVING AWAY THESE TAX BREAKS AT THE LOWER END OF THE INCOME SPECTRUM, BUT WILL THAT MEAN FOR CORPORATE TAXES AND TAXES ON HIGH EARNERS IN ORDER TO BALANCE THE BUDGET? WHAT WE ARE SEEING SO FAR, WE ARE LOOKING AT A LOT OF BUDGET-BUSTING PROPOSALS. IF EITHER CAMPAIGN IS GOING TO BE HONEST WITH THE MATH, THEY HAVE DIVINE REVENUES SOMEWHERE ELSE. KATIE: WE DON'T HAVE MUCH TIME BUT I WANT TO TALK ABOUT THE DEBATE. 15 DAYS TO GO. THEN YOU LOOK AT WHAT TRUMP WAS POSTING ON SOCIAL OVER THE WEEKEND, SAYING I WATCHED ABC, BIG NEWS THIS MORNING, AND I ASK WHY WHEN I DO THE DEBATE AGAINST KAMALA HARRIS ON THAT NETWORK? MAY BE BACKTRACKING A LITTLE BIT ON THAT AGREEMENT TO DEBATE ON STAGE. WHAT ARE THE CAMPAIGNS SAYING? GREGORY: KEEP IN MIND, THIS IS A GAME THAT DONALD TRUMP HAS PLAYED AGAIN AND AGAIN THROUGH A NUMBER OF CAMPAIGN CYCLES, WILL HE DEBATE, WON'T HE DEBATE? A LOT OF GAMESMANSHIP HERE. THE DEBATE ABOUT THE DEBATES IS THE PHASE THAT WE ARE IN NOW. AS OF NOW HE HAS COMMITTED TO THAT DEBATE, KAMALA HARRIS IS EXPECTING HIM TO SHOW UP. CERTAINLY IF HE DOESN'T, THE HARRIS CAMPAIGN WILL CAPITALIZE ON THAT, SAYING HE IS SCARED TO DEBATE HER. KEEP IN MIND WHEN TRUMP DEBATED BIDEN, THAT WAS A GAME CHANGING MOMENT FOR THE CAMPAIGN.
