Quarterback a look at the Eagles quarterback position I don't think this position is settled yet of course outside of the franchise quarterback and Jaylen Herz Philadelphia listing Herz of course as qb1 but Kenny pick it as qb2 Tanner mcke qb3 Will Greer is qb4 but he is not going to make this 53 man roster and let's talk furthermore about the Eagles quarterback position behind Jaylen Herz going into preseason game number one for the Philadelphia Eagles as they play the Baltimore Ravens I think that the backup quarterback role is still up for grass and it's not settled yet I know when Philadelphia traded that fourth round pick for Kenny picket everybody had picket as the shoe in to backup Hurtz and we know that the backup quarterback position has been a vital position for the Eagles over the years from AJ fely to KY Detmer to Jeff Garcia Nick Foles Michael Vic and it's an important position on any football team and so far in training camp Tanner mcke I think is outplayed Kenny picket even though picket has a lot of starts under his belt as a starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers I really like what mcke brings to the table big bodied quarterback an underrated athlete a really good arm he can throw with touch accuracy precision I really like how he throws that ball toward the boundary with a lot of anticipation and Kenny picket we've seen has struggled with arm strength and he struggled to identify the blitz at times I'm high on Tanner mcke and if he goes out there this preseason and plays really well and continues to sling it in training camp I think that we could see a change for the backup quarterback role and we could see Tanner mcke as qb2 Over Kenny picket in an upset selection so pick a backup quarterback for Philadelphia here KP for Kenny picket TM for Tanner mcke I'm going mcke I think he could be the backup going into week one against the Packers in Brazil now we flip the page Running Back to the Run back spot saquan Barkley the franchise running back here for Philadelphia after making that Splash in free agency after him I like where the Eagles are at Kenneth gainwell knows this system knows this team very well he's a good pass blocker and he can catch the ball out of the back field will Shipley the rookie out of Clemson has had a very impressive training camp running it catching it I think that he can be utilized as a little bit of a weapon I'm interested to see how many running backs the Eagles have on the 53 man roster these three are set here and I like this rotation behind saquan I'm wondering are the Eagles going to maximize saquin and use him a lot or are they going to manage his workload a little bit like a starting pitcher in Major League Baseball so that he's fresh for the stretch run in December January so that he's a fantastic player and he is not banged up for this hopeful playoff run and Super Bowl run for Philadelphia I think that they're going to use saquan a lot but 15 to 20 carries per game and then you sprinkle in a gain well you sprinkle in a Shipley eagles are in a good spot at that running back position same could be said at the wide Wide Receiver receiver spot and because of the emergence of Johnny Wilson the health and the speed of Paris Campbell not only do the Eagles have one of the best onew punches in AJ Brown and Devonte Smith for their wide receiver cor across the entire National football league I like the diversity and The Versatile options that the Eagles have at white out Johnny Wilson is 66 he can go up and get it climb the ladder for those 50/50 balls he gives you a good blocking presence any physical presence Paris Campbell 43 speed you have John Ross 43 speed Briton cvy that possession wide receiver so going into Camp I had questions about the wide receiver spot for Philadelphia but my concerns have cooled a little bit because because of the play at this spot and I think the top five here are set AJ Brown Devonte Smith peris Campbell Johnny Wilson Britain cvy how many wide receivers will the Eagles have on the 53 as well and that sixth wide receiver spot if they hold six will it go to John Ross will it go to annias Smith who struggled with drops both offensively and at the punt return spot I think Joseph Vata at this point is on the outside looking in to tight end Tight End we've seen some shifts here Dallas GD one of the best all-around tight ends in the NFL with his ability to catch the rock but also block grant calcatera has really become the firmly entrenched backup tight end behind gard and I also think because you can trust CJ uzama as a blocker and as a veteran in this league he's going to make this team I think the Eagles go with tight ends GRE alcatara has had a great training camp he's looked very Nimble in athletic in catching the football and I think those will be the three tight ends who make this squad with Albert OA aanam getting cut in the leadup to 53 man roster cutdown day even though Jason Offensive Line Kelce retired I think the Eagles are in a very good spot along the offensive line Jordan milot is one of the best left tackles in the game a physical presence who will wue with the way that he can move at that size we know that by Nowa Dickerson just has to stay healthy so far in Camp he's been banged up here and there but so far in his NFL career he's been a durable player even though he tore that ACL his final year at Alabama cam Jurgens has stepped in nicely for Jason Kelce he is given this team a very athletic center which is very important for this offense because that's what Jason Kelce was and a personality fit going to be hard for Jurgens to replace Kelce on the field though I think that he could play at a really high level you look at Tyler Steen at Right Guard I don't think that holds there and of course Lane Johnson continues to be one of the best right tackles in the game this is where the Eagles actions speak very loudly with releasing their first depth chart going into preseason game number one they have Tyler Steen starting at Right Guard they have him on this first string offense of line but Makai beckon continues to get starting Right Guard s and back several weeks ago I had said I think beckon can start for this team at Right Guard he's traditionally been a tackle the eagle signed him to be a backup swing tackle but given his physicality getting tutored and coached up by Jeff Stalin can you deny the potential that he has we've seen him play at a really high level at The Tackle Spot with the New York Jets in his NFL career has stay state has to stay healthy and so far he's played really good football at Right Guard is that his home in the National Football League the Eagles can tell us Tyler steam still the starting Right Guard but beckon even though Steen is back from injury continues to be this team starting Right Guard what happens week one I think it's going to be beckon as this team starting Right Guard this Eagles defense led by Vic fangio's been in the league for so long I'm so excited to see what the veteran offensive coordinator Kell Moore can do and what the veteran defensive coordinator Vic fangio can do I'm going to go five wide for the defensive line even though the Eagles are going to run that three four front I think this Paints the picture for what you can expect Jordan Davis Jaylen Carter as your starting defensive tackles Milton Williams will be in that rotation I think that he might play a little bit of defensive end and defensive tackle for this team and then you're starting Edge rushers according to the Eagles Bryce Huff coming off the edge Josh wet coming off the edge behind them you have Brandon Graham and Nolan Smith as your top backups the backup defensive tackles Marlon tupo luu Thomas Booker Moro Jomo PJ muster Gabe Hall the Eagles probably going to run with two or three of those players on the 53 man roster I expect jayx hunt to make this team but this is a defensive line where if this unit can get after the quarterback and provide a pass rush they will have great success and the words of Borat great success if the pass rush struggles it could be a long year for this team because of all of the changes made at corner and at safety in the secondary now I think that Vic Fango either way is going to be able to maximize this defensive unit which was awful last year but it's going to be reliant on that pass rush two years ago 70 sacks 15 more than any team last year that number NOS dive it's time for the Eagles to get after the quarterback and do some quarterback hunting at the linebacker position what the Eagles have Off Ball LB shown us throughout training camp is that Devin white and Zack Bond will be the off ball linebackers nocoe Dean Ben van sueran in the mix there of course with Jeremiah trod and Orin Burks there too now Orin Burks has been dealing with the problematic knee injury we'll see if he ends up making this team he could be on the roster bubble just because he hasn't been able to stay healthy what I think is interesting about the off ball linebacker spot is that the Eagles are still viewing this as a little bit of a competition because when they release this dep chart they have Devin white and ncoe Dean and Zack Bon and um let's see who is it Zack Bon and trod as the starter so they have like combo starters here as off-ball linebackers here so it's white Dean Bon trod as starters right now but what are their actions against that might surprise you their actions and who they've gone with it's been Devin white and Zack Bond as the starters and I expect them to have the inside track for starting for this team week one against the Packers at cornerback very similar Cornerback situation to what we just talked about at off ball linebacker Darius Slay has had a great training camp he's been the Eagles best outside corner Isaiah Rogers and key Ringo are competing for the other outside corner role at the slot the Eagles released and then brought back avonte Maddox he has familiarity with this organization when he stayed healthy he's played really well unlike last year as we know the Eagles are very deep at the cornerback position so on the website on the depth chart the Eagles have listed Rogers and Ringo as the starters pointing to an ongoing competition but Isaiah Rogers has been slightly better and of note here Cooper deene not listed because of injury hasn't been able to practice at all because of that hamstring ailment safety spot last position group that we want to talk about before we get to our Specialists no surprises here re blanket ship CJ Gardner Johnson a surprise as far as the backups James Bradberry is not listed as a corner on the Eagles depth chart he is listed as a second string safety how far he has fallen since being an all proo 2 years ago Maki Garner tresa McCullum Andre Sam also his backups keep in mind that Sydney Brown is currently on pup as he continues to recover from that late season Tor ACL last year Eagle specialist Jake Elliott best kicker in the game Braden man impressed me once the Eagles signed him in replacing Aaron cpos and then Rick Lavado given a new contract this off season as the team's Long Snapper at the Returners returner spot Britt cvy I think he's a shoeing to make this team and I think he's going to be in the mix for some wide receiver snaps s he's going to be your punt returner and over the last year and a half he's been one of the best at that spot in the NFL and then Isaiah Rogers with this new kickoff return He is listed as the starting kick returner he's a backup punt returner as well in addition to annias Smith and then the other backup kick returners Paris Campbell and Kenneth gainwell so that is a look at the Eagles roster going into preseason game number one as a little bit of a primer doubt that the Eagles play any of their starters but some of these backup roles they're up for grabs grade the Eagles
