How Ryan Papenhuyzen Overcame Injury to become a NRL STAR!

Ryan Penh Houser's career has been marked by intense setbacks notably a shattered kneecap and a fractured ankle leading to long recovery period spanning tens of rounds despite these challenges his determination to return to the field has made him a beloved figure in the NRL this is Ryan [Music] pouser Ryan penous is joning to becoming an n St began in Sydney Australia where he was born to a family of Dutch Heritage raised in Kellyville New South Wales penous displayed an early talent for sports his passion for rugby league blossomed during his school years at Oak Hill College in Castle Hill and in 2015 his hard work and dedication paid off when he earned a spot on the Australian school Boys Rugby League team marking the first significant milestone in his rugby career after finishing High School papen Housen pursued higher education at the austal and Catholic University where he studied physical activity health and exercise science his academic Pursuits ran parallel to his buring rugby career as he eared his skills on the field while preparing for a future Beyond Sports penh's early years in rugby league were spent with local clubs like the kville bush Rangers Dunder Shamrocks and Hills district Bulls his natural ability and Relentless work ethic caught the attention of Scouts leading to his signing with the belman Tigers it was here that papen began to make his Mark in the junior representative scene competing in the SG bll cup and Harold Matthews cup these experiences lay the foundation for his eventual move to the West tigers as NRL under 20s team however the PA to success was not without his challenges the West Tigers released papen Housen when the club chose to retain star player James Tedesco this setback could have derailed a less determin athlete but penh's resilience Shone through he seized the opportunity to sign with the Melbourne storm a move that would prove pivotal in his career joining Melbourne storm in 2019 penous quickly demonstrated by he was a rising star in the Rugby League World initially playing for the under 20 Squad and the Sunshine Coast Falcons Melbourne's feeder team Pen's consistent performances did not go unnoticed his efforts H him a spot in the New South Wales under 20 state of Orin team where he continued to impressed with his Speed and Agility and at just 20 years old penous made his NRL debut for m storm in round four of the 2019 season against the Bulldogs receiving his jersey number 194 from Storm Legend Billy Slater penen had big shoes to fill he quickly made a name for himself with a standout performance in round nine against the Paramount eels at Sun Stadium coming off the bench in the 50th minute penen electrified the game scoring a try running 137 M and contributing multiple line breaks and assists in Melbourne's commanding 64 to 10 Victory later that year on October 8th penh's talents were recognized on an international stage when he was selected for the Australian squad for the 2019 Rugby League World Cup 9s he was also named fullback for the under 23 Junior kangaroos where he continue to excel scoring two tries in their dominant 62-4 win over France this season marked penh's emergence as a formidable player setting the stage for what many anticipated to be a Stella career the 2020 n season further solidified penh's reputation as a game changer in round eight with Melbourne trailing the Sydney roosters 25 to 24 and only 40 seconds left on the clock penous stepped up in a critical moment with the weight of the games on his shoulders he calmly kicked his first NRL field goal tying the game just before the final whistle this clutch performance showcased his ability to deliver Under Pressure a trait that would become synonymous with his playing style penh's contributions were even more evident in the 2020 NRL Grand Final where Melbourne storm faced off against the penth Panthers in a hardfought match penh's exceptional performance helped secure a 26 to20 victory for Melbourne and his efforts did not go unnoticed as he was awarded the Clive Churchill medal for being the man of the match this accolate was a testament to his impact on The Game and his importance to the team despite his success 2020 was not without its setbacks penen was selected for the New South Wales state of origin Squad a significant achievement for any player however an untimely injury forced him to withdraw from game one and he was not selected for the subsequent matches this disappointment only fueled his determination to return stronger in The Following season in 2021 Ryan papenhausen was thrown into the spotlight stepping into the fullback role and taking over goal kicking duties following the retirement of Melbourne Storm's legendary Captain Cameron Smith the pressure was immense but penous Rose to the occasion in round four he delivered one of the most memorable performances of his career scoring four tries in just 11 minutes during Melbourne's 40 to6 demolition over the Brisbane Broncos this incredible feat tied the club record for the most tries in a single game and placed him second for the most points scored in a game by a Melbourne player with a total of 26 points however the highs of 2021 were quickly tempered by the loads as in round 10 during a match against St George ilara penen suffered a significant concussion after a high tackle from Tyrell fono the injury was severe enough to sideline him for much the season costing him a place in the New South Wales state of origin team the road to recovery was long and challenging but penh's determination never wavered he returned to the field in Round 19 though his minutes were limited as he worked his way back to full fitness despite missing a substantial portion of the Season penen still made a significant impact he played 15 games in 21 scoring 14 tries and amassing 157 points Melbourne storm with penous contributions went on an impressive 19 game winning streak securing the minor preneurship penous also featured in all three final matches including the preim final where Melbourne was unexpectedly defeated 10 to6 by the penrith Panthers who would go on to win the championship the 2022 NRL season was another roller coaster year for Ryan penhouse in round four he reached a career Milestone by scoring 28 points in a single game against the Bulldogs including four tries and six goals this performance was a testament to his scoring ability and his importance to the Melbourne storms attack however the season was marred with injuries in round nine during a match against St George aawara papen Housen was forced to leave the field due to hamstring and knee injuries these injuries sidelined him for 4 to 6 weeks a significant blow to both him and the team papala made his return and 16 scoring two tries in a narrow 36 to3 loss to Manley but just as he was finding his form again just disaster struck in round 18 during a game against the camber Raiders papen suffered a fractured kneecap ending his season prematurely the injury was a devastating blow not only because it ended his season but also because it was yet another major injury in his already young career Ryan penh's 2023 season was defined by his battle to overcome injury and after missing the first 22 rounds due to the shattered kneecap he sustained in 2022 penous made a longwa to return to the field on August 5th playing for the Sunshine Coast Falcons in the Queensland cup his return was met with anticipation as fans and teams alike hope to see him regain the form that he had made him one of the most exciting players in the NRL Pap anden would later return to the NL in round 26 and would later score his first try of the season in round 27 however his comeback was shortlived in the first week of the finals during Melbourne's 26 to0 loss to the Brisbane Broncos papen suffered a season ending fracture to his ankle while tackling Tom flegler the injury was a cruel twist of fate especially considering it was his second major leg injury in as many years the severity of the injury led many to fear that penh's career might be over however in the aftermath it was revealed that he was expected to make a full recovery and be clear to to play by the start of the next season this news was a testament to papen how's resilience and determination to continue his rugby league Journey despite the setbacks he had faced as the 2024 season began Ryan Penh Housen once again found himself battling adversity he returned in round one helping Melbourne secure an 8 to0 victory over the penrick Panthers and the team started strong winning seven of the first eight games with penous playing a key role in their success however the the injury cursed sh again during their round nine match against the Gold Coast Titans papen Housen began limping after a routine tackle and was forced to leave the field it was later revealed that he suffered a small fracture in his previously surgically repaired leg sidelining him for four to six weeks and upon Ryan penh's return to the NRL in the 2024 season he has been instrumental in helping Melbourne storm gained the number one spot in the ladder going into round 22 papin has consistently demonstrated a level of determination and perseverance that sets him apart injuries have been a constant companion throughout his career threatening to derail his progress at every turn
