Week 1 Reactions + AP top 25 reactions: Zeke-ollege Football Episode 18

hello everybody and welcome back to another episode of Z college football today we're going to be breaking down all the action within week one as well as going over the brand newly released AP Top 25 Poll uh released maybe about a little over an hour ago uh so a lot to cover uh because there were a lot of games in week one uh pretty much every single team got a chance to play at least once with the exception of Ball State so for the Ball State fans out there sorry you won't be hearing about your team in this specific video but in future ones uh you might hear something but just real quickly uh we're just going to start off we're going to go conference by conference talking about some of these teams and how they fared throughout the week now starting off uh with C USA we saw a couple team struggle uh against the FCS specifically uh New Mexico State Louisiana Tech and Middle Tennessee all won uh their games by only one score over the their FCS opponents no team uh in week one actually fell to their FCS opponents there were a couple close calls um so still the only FCS over FBS upset was back in week zero uh now uh continuing on Jacksonville State looked really disappointing uh in their non-conference matchup against Coastal Carolina could potentially be a little bit of a a step back from how they were last year again last year their first year in the FBS they looked strong uh and ended up winning a bowl game that might not be the case uh here this year how about Sam Houston uh another team like Jacksonville State that stepped up into the FBS last year uh they struggled last year but a huge good good win to start off the season in the non-conference against rice and that's a rice team that's bringing in some some transfer portal Talent uh like EJ Warner so could be some trouble brewing in Houston there for uh the rice owls but a good win for Sam Houston and basically all this is to say you know right now from what I'm seeing in the C USA there's no team that looks like it can match Liberty uh they looked good against uh Campbell in week one so they are still definitely the team to beat now for the Mac it was really hard to actually gauge uh the Mac this week uh not only because not every single team played again thank you Ball State for that uh but you know they didn't really have uh very even matchups against other group of five teams Miami played a uh played a close game against Northwestern they did end up losing that one but they still look to be probably the favorite uh in the Mac uh Toledo looked good against duaine but it's duaine uh you know it's there was it's just hard to gauge where some of these teams are at um mainly just given the fact that you know we're seeing one version uh of these teams and they're just you can't really tell uh you know Central Michigan wins wins Big over Central Connecticut state but it's Central Connecticut state and that's basically sort of the back and forth that I've been going with it's yes these teams are looking good in wins but the level of competition just isn't there uh for some of them uh now for the belt uh on the flip side of that Jacksonville State loss Coastal Carolina looked really good really good uh under Tim Beck so they could be a contender uh in the Sun Belt this year uh appstate uh another team that's that's uh really looking to establish themsel uh in the Sun Belt this year uh James Madison came away with a W in week one uh Texas State came away with a W in week one one but one team that's taking a step back in the Sun Belt is Troy uh Troy ended up losing uh their game to Nevada and they're just they're just clearly not the same team that they were under John sumerall uh it's going to be a sort of um learning period uh for this new coaching staff for the Trojans so uh don't expect too much here in year one and last but not least for the sun Bel how about Old Dominion uh they put up a fight against South Carolina uh in a loss and uh very close close game there so could be maybe a sleeper pick to go bowling uh and maybe pick up a bull Victory as well uh moving forward let's talk about the American Conference Memphis to Lane and USF all looked great in week one uh so those those three definitely seem to be sort of the top dogs in the conference uh we already went over how rice looked a little disappointing uh Temple looks uh atrocious yet again but for more of a feel-good story how about East Carolina team that went two and 10 last year brings in some transfer portal talent and despite the fact that they they they committed I want to say six turnovers in their game they still came away with a a a blowout win um so the offense did look a lot a lot better in that game so ECU could be a team to to look out for in the American Conference now Mountain West it's hard to talk about the Mountain West without bringing up Boise State and more importantly Ashton jente 267 rushing yards and six touchdowns he as long as he's healthy is the the Catalyst for this Boise State team and uh yeah you could could imagine them potentially making that uh that 12 team playoff as a group of five representative uh UNLV picked up a uh great win uh against a power four team in Houston wasn't even close 27 to7 so another team that could potentially compete for that Mountain West uh Mountain West Title and then finally uh Nevada looking a lot better uh way ahead of schedule for Jeff Cho um definitely a team that can maybe take a game off of one of those top contenders speaking of top contenders let's talk about the ACC all the seeming top contenders really struggled in week one Clemson looked really stale on offense only scoring three on a stout Georgia defense but you know it you want your uh your high-profile team to score more than that uh Florida State already 0 and2 uh in this young season and uh you know they're almost already out of uh playoff contention their only path that I can see right now is is trying to win the AC CC uh and try to get that auto bid then Virginia Tech with a with a really tough loss in overtime to Vanderbilt um just not the look you want to have for week one uh you have a roster that returned a lot of production and was expected to make that jump uh and just just did not do that in week one um Boston College and geord DET Tech both teams that that beat Florida state established a a very strong Run game so if you can establish a run game in the ACC uh it could be sort of what you need going forward in order to make a Deep Run and then uh couple questions uh to to finish it off uh yes Miami looked really good in their dominant victory over Florida uh cam Ward seems to be sort of the answer that they were looking for but will Mario chrisol hold them back like is there uh going to be a repeat of some some coaching decisions that aren't looked upon as favorably and then also how will UNCC look uh now that Max Johnson is out for the season uh really unfortunate again week one uh he broke his leg and he's going to be out for the year so North Carolina gonna have to lean on a backup quarterback for the entire season now for the Big 12 if you're not scared of Arizona yet you should be Noah faf and tetera McMillan are dangerous and uh I am worried for some of these cornerbacks in the Big 12 that they won't be able to compete with that uh as for some of the top contenders in the Big 12 Oklahoma State Utah both seem to be living up to expectations uh offenses looked good defenses looked Stout um and the new additions uh from the Pack 12 seem to be holding their weight all four newcomers uh picked up a victory in week one both Colorado uh Arizona Arizona State and Utah all won their week one matchups but the biggest question mark right now is Texas Tech high-scoring game against an FCS team in abalene Christian their defense look pretty suspect so could be uh a path to victories uh for some of these other Big 12 teams now for the Big 10 Michigan is not the same team that they were last year uh they won 30-1 over Fresno State but they were looking a little stale on offense couldn't really get uh into Rhythm and uh they seem to be using a two quarterback system one primarily a passing threat and then Alex org more as a rushing threat I can see teams sort of uh figuring that out though so it might just be an overreaction to week one but they will have a huge test next week uh in the Texas game so we'll see more from them there uh as for Ohio State uh you know Jeremiah Smith looked really good in week one uh but the offense took a little bit uh to get going so it's going to be a couple question marks there you know when they're playing a team that's better than akan uh you know how will that sort of shape uh shape the game also Oregon uh another team that had a slow slow start uh and really just a slow overall game against Idaho the vandals from the FCS kept them close but look to week two as the transfers might take a little bit longer to gel together uh when they play a what could be a huge game uh against Boise State and then finally uh on Sunday night USC's defense looked really good and they could uh take some games off of teams if they're not careful uh I know everyone sort of Associates USC as offensive Powerhouse and with a terrible defense but their offense looked pretty good and the defense looked well uh just a lot better than they did last year and then um for the SEC their non-conference sort of punishes teams for scheduling tough uh a couple teams uh in the SEC the only ones with losses right now uh are teams that played tough opponents uh LSU played USC Florida played Miami uh and then Texas A&M played Notre Dame those are the three SEC teams with losses right now uh Florida and Texas A&M looked really rough in week one LSU actually looked good uh in their loss but man uh it might be a long year for the Gators and uh the Aggies looked like they need to turn some things around because their offense was putrid uh Georgia and Vanderbilt uh about the only time you'll ever hear them put together in a sentence uh are the only SEC teams who won against their power four uh opponents uh and then uh for the most part SEC teams playing against group of five and FCS teams looked very very dominant except for one and that was South Carolina uh who might be in trouble because the offense just did not look good under lenorris sellers but before we go much fur further we are going to uh touch on the AP Top 25 uh that just released not too long ago um and what we're seeing right now is we're seeing uh a pretty minor change up top one and two are going to stay the same with Georgia and Ohio State Oregon dropping all the way from number three to number seven after their game against Idaho again they really did not create a lot uh a lot of Separation uh and it just they just didn't look very good um Notre Dame jumps up two spots after a big win in College Station Missouri enters the top 10 uh again their defense only allowed 85 yards throughout the entire game so uh a really good performance there for the missou defense um Michigan got Lea frogged there by Missouri Utah moves up one Miami skyrocketing from 19 all the way up to 12 and then USC gains 10 spots in the poll after a big win against LSU uh and then couple teams just moving up a single spot LSU drops back all the way to 13 so a drop of five not too uh too bad uh there's certainly uh room for them to recover before we get to the latter portion and then we see some teams who are entering into the rankings uh Louisville uh and then Georgia Tech now NC State it says here was not ranked they were uh but yeah Clemson falling all the way to 25 uh and then in terms of uh other teams receiving V votes uh we got Texas A&M with the most Boston College getting some traction Boise State getting some traction early on out at the G5 uh and then again one loone vote for Colorado they have a test in week two against Nebraska um so it's certainly going to be interesting seeing Nebraska here with 27 votes and Colorado with one uh certainly a game to look out for in week two but that will be all for the week one reactions again follow along for more in-game sort of reactions over on the Instagram that is Zeke do OLED foot um because Instagram won't let me do dashes but I hope you enjoyed and I will see you all in the next video
