foreign out of the gates and ready to go out kick 360 underway glad you're with us Monday Edition plenty to recap from the weekend and to preview for Super Bowl 57 out in Arizona with Chad Withrow I'm Jonathan Hutton Chad good afternoon good afternoon we will be in Arizona yes we will I am looking forward to that Dan Dakich will be with us in 20 minutes looking forward to recapping some big headlines including with bayheim over the weekend Duke Carolina was another game that you would expect these two numbers Jeff Fisher former NFL and now former usfl head coach will join us in studio in hour number two and Dan Mullen former head coach of the Mississippi State Bulldogs Florida Gators and we'll find out what he's up to and discuss some quarterback things going across college football in the NFL Dan Mullen with us in hour number three a lot to hit Chad there was no hitting in the Pro Bowl to begin with that's why they changed it to a flag football game and you were surprised with what you saw I was very skeptical that this was going to be anything worth watching um I I thought it was a better alternative than you know a supposed tackle football game that's a touch football game in full pads but I was blown away I really enjoyed it found myself watching a lot of it over the weekend and I think it's a much better alternative than what they were doing with the Pro Bowl game like I said a touch football game that was played in pads uh the flag football part of it I thought was was pretty cool but I think blending everything together was was really neat it was a good television product I thought it was a sort of a weird environment to watch on Sunday in at Allegiant stadium in terms of the atmosphere in the building but I'll say this also and you know we're always talking about what's what's the demographic what are you trying to hit my seven-year-old daughter loved it she doesn't watch football she wouldn't she won't watch a football game with me but she sat there and watched a lot of this and enjoyed it even the flag football part of it she was enjoying it so I guess on that side of it it's a hit and it's nothing serious right and it wasn't before but the I think the tone and demeanor of the league with the Pro Bowl was off until yesterday and the whole week right like they they they what they were treating it like a game it certainly it's not a football game and there's no way for the NFL to actually play that game and get it right with the same tenor that other leagues can do because of the injury status and the the fact that you've got a lot of these players Derek Carr for instance who ends up playing in this game uh who's about to either be traded or he's a free agent around March 15th so I I understand why guys hold out of actually doing it right they did the right thing even though it's not appointment viewing but still Millions will watch this and my guess is Chad they they hit another home run with what they're doing I like the side things more than I did the actual game I thought the the best catch was cool the catch contest it's their version of the dunk company which is perfect uh when you get the mascots involved it reminded me of the old school dunk contest and uh aside from that the Specialists I thought that was cool too with what they tried to do I think they can build around that to where those are more interesting than the actual game itself but it is what it is like the the criticism of it the criticism for me came from the Pro Bowl with tackling when there's no reason to actually Implement that whatsoever and you know yesterday was basically the same type of product and I look at the other big surprise the stadium in Vegas that I don't know how many freebies they handed out but man I was surprised to see so many people in the upper deck yeah it was that to me that was the strangest part was just uh the whole aesthetic of the fans being a part of it it was just weird it was a weird live event to go to I think and I wasn't even there right and I'm complaining about it how about uh how upset Peyton was at the end of that game of that exhibition slash flag football that was awesome that look this is why you know we we love to to praise Brady uh for his level of detail and everything and how mad he would get or just how crazy he'd be about something Peyton Manning showed off why he is a Hall of Famer in many ways at the end of that game he was pissed on that last play and here's the thing he's dead on right you're not allowed to run the ball you have to throw the ball in some way forward when you're inside the tent so by the letter of the law you can't take a knee I don't know I like it look the game was over all the different cousins was yelling at him saying he told me he could take a knee yeah he's pointing at the ref yeah no that's well the ref was wrong is what I'm saying now I'm not saying Kirk Cousins is wrong because he asked him yeah and he said to do it but it was hilarious when Peyton went storming out on the field because their only chance was an interception well the difference right that was the only chance to get back in the game or to have a chance to win it and for those who say oh it doesn't matter I guess for the majority of those players it definitely doesn't based on the price but the difference in that was could have been forty two thousand dollars the losing players each get 42 grand for appearing in the game the winners get 84 4 000 and so there's a big gap there what's surprising to me The Losers of the Super Bowl individual players based on the CBA they get eighty two thousand dollars for the game that's two grand less than the winners of that flag football game put that in perspective the teams and players that will be participating the loser either the Chiefs or the Eagles individually they're getting 82 Grand it's a great price for many of us listening right I'm raising my hand here um but the the Pro Bowl pays out more to the winning team from a flag football game than the loser from the Super Bowl so individually a couple of stray observations um the the Gridiron Gauntlet was cool Brian Burns looked like it was CGI his performance and that when he went up against miles Garrett the going over the barrier and then underneath the table over and over again it looked like a movie was sped up and he was jumping over it like a ninja it was incredible to see his athleticism another one was Kirk Herbstreit uh you can play a different note that was very odd that you just played that like it was the Saturday night college football game of the week or Amazon Prime game he was Kirk Herbstreit but I felt like I was watching an actual game and that's that's the issue I had with the actual game from last year in previous well Pat McAfee is your play-by-play guy so clearly hey you know that this is something different right and you don't have NFL coaches on the side joke yeah this doesn't have to be like total straight man boy the athleticism on this play you really want to just get in front of the the defensive player here and Shadow them because you can't use your hands and I'm thinking dude it's a flag football game yeah like lighten up a little bit on that I thought that was it was he was fine I just thought it was odd that it was like he played it straight down the middle in terms knowing how to play it really you know that's what he came across McAfee was was funny because it was a mix of like I'm calling play-by-play but also he's like you know that this is a expert flag football all play We're witnessing right here you could tell when there was sarcasm about what was going on um so I enjoyed it though Josh Jacobs didn't he uh running back for the the Raiders totally different response than what I had to decision not not a fan uh based on his quote this bleep is stupid uh on the new Pro Bowl format the Old Provo format with how they treated it it's the same payout by the way uh that part was stupid um at least with this they're admitting up front like you know we're here to have fun and it's more about the individual players and their personality than it is the result no matter what Peyton may think on on the on the other sideline um Peyton also did not want to lose to his brother Eli was it was a big part of that I think there were some sibling rivalry that spilled over that we saw coming out in the end um I know why Josh Jacobs thought it was stupid also because he was given the spotlight in Vegas with Derek Carr and their team sucked I'll say it like it is that game three that was by far the worst quarterbacking of the whole thing was from Derek Carr in front of us well Payton said well the plan is I'm gonna feature Derek Carr his these home fans will maybe never see him again and then Josh Jacobs we're going to have a heavy dose of those too in this final game in the in the night cap right the biggest game to end it all and I thought Carr was terrible Kirk Cousins I mean if there was a separate Flag Football League Hall of Fame that guy may be Aaron Rodgers he was incredible I mean he was zipping that thing in there in the 50 yard field would be perfect for Kirk Cousins absolutely like this guy he's Brady he's Brady a flag football that's what I thought watching Kirk Cousins he is the Tom Brady of flag football um so there were other players there Darren Waller was one of them he was on a portion of the radio broadcast up in the booth and then went down to the field and uh he showed enough a new head tattoo in the booth you see this Chad the new designs this uh number one it looks painful right um number two it's uh it's something that you don't even have to show off you're going to be seen even if you don't want to be seen with the what looks like an angel and then a a bird on the other side of this yeah I I don't understand why you'd want to make your head above his ear Conversation Piece yeah right like every time I walk into a room this is what we're talking about now you go to a cocktail party you go to someone's house you go to a game night and you're walking in with that it's like okay we're gonna have to talk about this Angel that's dipping down to pick up an eagle on the side of your skull everywhere you go you grow his hair out I guess and cover up quite a bit of it also but yeah interesting decision one other interesting call in that game Pete Davidson served no point I don't it's like his agent told him he had to be there and he took money to be there he was on the sideline with a coffee I mean he was like the only time one time honorary Captain okay so he was just he was Snoop on one side him on the other but every time I saw him he's not talking to anyone just sipping coffee it was weird and he wasn't particularly funny either well he had done that before right with some of the other events he's he's appeared in or at where he's like I don't really know why I'm here but I'm here uh one of them was like a UFC event or something or slap fight or something Snoop was like mixing it up you know he was on the sideline with Peyton he was in the Huddle talking to guys yeah yeah he was being a you know you're paid to be an honorary Captain not to sit in the back and sip cough sip a latte the entire time you and I though have been with Pete Davidson he's very awkward in person socially it bothered me like if you're going to be announced as a part of this yeah Beyond either don't show or be on you're a performer you know make me laugh clown type thing yeah this gets in there though I don't he just needs to be on camera now all of a sudden he's a Kardashian it was um it was something Robert Griffin III I think interviewed him at one point and they said something like you know you're known for out kicking your coverage Davidson and he's like oh okay all right yeah we're going there and then he just answered some other question um coming up we've got uh Dan dokich real quick today Sean Payton introduced as the new Broncos head coach in the presser one of the things he said was Russell Wilson will no longer be allowed to have his personal coaches in the building like last season quote that's not going to take place here end quote there is a new uh sheriff in town and it's not Russell Wilson who apparently ran everything internally with how he wanted the the demeanor to go now it's Sean Payton well hey he begged for it he asked for it he wanted Sean Payton you got him he did that's right it didn't go his way so new rules now yeah uh Jim Boeheim wants old rules when it comes to nil it's I'm not surprised that he feels this way with the state of college basketball and how it's changed everything it's who he's naming in this quote that is so surprising so Jim Boeheim on the state of college basketball to ESPN this weekend quote this is an awful place we're in in college basketball Pittsburgh bought a team okay fine my donor talks about it but he doesn't give anyone money nothing not one guy our guys make like twenty thousand dollars Wake Forest bought a team Miami bought a team it's like really this is where we are that's really where we are it's only going to get worse and then he added Jim behan it's crazy that's why those guys got out and that's why Jay Wright got out Mike shashefski got out and it's the reason they got out the transfer portal and everything is nuts it really is that from Jim beiheim not surprised by this you know the old school coach mentality not embracing or not wanting to see the direction we're headed in it's the fact that he's mentioning Pitt and he's specifically mentioning Miami like uh Wake Forest what that Miami's really good but of all the other ones but all of the punching down basketball options yeah you know what I mean that's where you're playing about that's where you're going to point to that that part was weird it it it bothered me too because it's almost like you know Syracuse was you know not a blue blood but they were the upper echelon in college basketball year and year out as a Northeast power and it felt like he was sort of punching down to say I mean if Wake Forest of all people is gonna buy a team of transfers or pit I mean it was very not only accusatory but also condescending about those programs I thought for a guy who sucked the last two years and his teams are terrible right now in Syracuse I loved what um Brandon Knight former Pittsburgh Panther point guard now an assistant at Rutgers he tweeted this about bayheim's comments this sounds like sour grapes next time bayheim next time ask baheim how many teams he bought before nil was legal don't throw stones from a glass house remember you've been coaching for a lot of years and a lot of us know who got paid whoa let's pick up there when we come back Dan Dodgers is going to move to uh he's coming up in 45 minutes something came up on his schedule and we will pick up there and also have a conversation I'm sure Dan will have a response to that too no doubt would this pit point guard making those kinds no doubt and we'll we'll pick up there take a layer deeper but also the the Aaron Torres says he has turned over a hornet's nest has he really because again it to me it's about who he's mentioning not what he's talking about that snack so now kick 360. crazy because Tom Brady is just a touch older than me I believe now there are no NFL players older than me which that's the first time in my life I can say that okay so now I feel really old now I feel truly and and really old I'm sorry man God that's horrible I didn't know that feeling maybe there's a punter or a kicker I have to check maybe I'm hoping there's like an old like a long time punter kicker a Long Snapper it's a little bit but I don't think so it's amazing to me thinking about Brady the last few years like I know how I feel when I wake up in the morning I can't even imagine attempting to play in the NFL like this right yeah I mean it's it well and I don't even know if if last season should have happened but that's not up for me it's not for anybody to sit there and argue I I don't have the drive Tom Brady has I'm I'm very willing to admit that right it seemed to me just as an outsider with no inside information whatsoever that he was tired and that he engaged in normal life for the first time in a long time was like yeah this sucks I'll get back to the NFL I don't like the daycare thing I love my kids I don't like dropping it off I don't want to go play Pickleball at three o'clock in the afternoon like let's get back to normal eh but it'd be interesting like you you know I don't I don't know if we'll see another quarterback take it that far Andy in the NFL like yeah he really apprecially right yeah he got Aaron Rodgers gonna be 39. you got him hinting at retirement now and it does feel like the games maybe take a little more toll on his body than than Brady maybe maybe there's you know some Ayahuasca that'll that'll fix that but it is it's crazy that that it lasted this long I mean I I think back to how much my life you know I I graduated college in 2000 and you know working my first job watching watching Tom Brady lead the Patriots when they were The Underdogs to the win against the Rams in the Super Bowl and thinking well that's a cool story six round guy you know hope the career works out for him and the the level of winning and just consistency I'm not sure we're gonna see it again no and I and I don't I don't especially with the quarterback who has that tenacity he also puts in everything into the game like it's like he can't take a breather um and it just he has a different workflow you know it kind of reminded me of what Kobe Bryant used to do uh in the NBA well or you can go on and name name month uh yeah but now but but I'm interested to see now you know what that looks like in the future and and does this and I'll ask you this because this news could break while we're down here in Mobile uh Todd monkin Georgia offensive coordinator does this make room for him now to potentially say okay I can go to Tampa we can go find a quarterback that works for me in my system and maybe take over the offensive coordinator position once you what have your thoughts been on the monkey Buccaneer stuff are you just are you ready for sets embedded is this the the Buccaneers starting quarterback is are we ready to live in a world where Stetson Bennett it's very interesting because you know Monken I think you know you look at that that tenure with Jameis Winston in Tampa it didn't go as well as anybody would have wanted and maybe monking going well if I had a different quarterback one who didn't put the ball In Harm's Way as as often perhaps that works out [Music] thank you foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] coming up we'll discuss Aaron Rodgers and the public campaign that's already started first though Chad let's pick up that's not kick 360 rolls on from Sixth and Peabody with the hot beer an Old Smokey Moonshine with the bayheim comments on name image likeness pay for play um transfer portal all of it and again I I found it peculiar like had he just randomly said this and it doesn't mention anyone but your typical programs I'm probably not batting an eye at it honestly yeah but the fact that it's Wake Forest Miami and Pitt that he's mentioning Aaron Torres from Fox Sports tends to agree with us as well beyham officially kicked over a hornet's nest last night you saw about this past weekend A lot of people have had a lot of dirt for a long time decades really and have kept their mouths shut there's blood in the water and I don't think people will stay quiet much longer and he's referencing of course all of the the behind the scenes things with bayheim and allegations that will certainly be flying around or have been now he's opening the door and he's open to Target for them to respond and I this this to me is the the storyline to follow more than it is these players who are jumping around because they're getting paid to do so yeah and he it's not like he you know not just in program but in coaching stature I mean there's some good coaches but it's not like he swung at some big real heavy weights here we're talking about Jeff Capel at Pitt Steve Forbes at Wake Forest Jim larenega at Miami all three good coaches but I guess my point is what level of dirty are those guys willing to get right like if you called down the monster he's he's praising mikeevski and Jay Wright for stepping away in part because of nil but if if he goes after another big dog in in college coaching John Calipari let's say um Bill self at Kansas he didn't go after those guys right and say boy they're using nil and look at Kentucky's roster and how do you think they kept Oscar shibwe from going pro I mean they did it legally is how they did it to in response to Jim Boeheim this is something you can do now is pay for name image and likeness so I I just it was a very very interesting choice by bayheim to go Target those programs those coaches and this is all happening when Syracuse is in a real free fall and so punching down yes but this for this season punching on the same plane the same level right or actually punching up up well based on where they are well based on the Viewpoint though like that you can tell where he's coming from on it and the competition level versus what he's currently working with yeah Syracuse right now is seven and six not as bad as I thought seven and six in the ACC uh 14 and 10 overall but it's funny you mentioned Wake Forest right Wake Forest is also seven and six and fifteen to nine overall so right there that was Syracuse Pittsburgh is nine and three so three games better in conference than where uh than where Syracuse is right now and Miami is nine and four in the ACC in 18 and five he's so look maybe he's saying you know these teams are now my competition and I'm not looking at the Blue Bloods anymore and they're beating me for that reason but either way I wouldn't have gone there if I were Jim behind well he's 70 what 78 years old he's in his 47th season so you know we the end was already near for his coaching career and we've been talking about his retirement for over a decade he acknowledged that in the presser too but uh reports are that he's coming back for another season next year at Syracuse how many more kids does he have to coach he's got buddy and Jimmy right now um I'm trying to find out like I'm trying to plan this out time wise to see if there's a graduation date coming up that maybe he's going to be done once his kid's done playing he said 95 of Syracuse people want me to coach why wouldn't they as bad as we've been the last two years we were fun to watch last year and we're still fun to watch and we're still competing we just played three of the top teams in the country to a standstill they're getting beat by 20 by those teams and you say okay we'll see that's Jim Beyond he goes I know it's my choice I can do whatever I want I just don't know for sure he's coming back yeah he's he's going to want to go out a little bit better than this that they're not a tournament team right now I mean maybe they can play their way in um but yeah it's uh I'm trying to find out the youngest bayheim he's on the roster right now to see how much more time he has left in the program because that could be a thing we've seen coaches before want to coach until you know their their kids gone right and so it sounds like he's back does not sound like Aaron Rodgers is going to be back in Green Bay he uh competed and helped win the Pro-Am this past weekend and he was very open about the team that he heard the most uh from fans that he was being asked about the most as he made the Rounds Around the course it's fun to be it's such a great event fans are amazing a lot of people yelling different teams they want me to come to next year which has been fun because we got a little uh inside bet going about which team is going to have the most fans but uh it's been fun I was going to say that for my last question but you're leading me right into it is there maybe like a favorite color favorite city that you might have on your mind for next season I'm just going to say that the predominant uh team that we hear as we're walking is Raiders a lot of a lot of Raider fans are encouraging me a lot of Devante misses you comments so we're having some fun with it it's a great uh you know great event for the fans to come out here and hopefully we can get back on the course also if you want to break some news with us here here on CBS we would love for that to happen but just think about it you don't have to answer now oh he'll talk about it though that's Amanda Renner uh a post round with uh with Aaron Rodgers discussing uh the teams that he heard the most and he specifically mentioned Raiders he's this is now the public campaign uh for an organization that hasn't even allowed Derek Carr to seek a trade yet certainly sounds like he's he's interested in the Raiders also I thought he's going to keep going the interview and say no I'm happy to talk about it what else you want to talk about I'll tell you Adams is happy as well based on what he said yeah um or the the uh they're they're claiming that they're now like secret codes and like hand signals to each other or whatever well I thought that interview that we just heard I thought the question was going to be oh well what team are you hearing from the most because I was gonna ask and instead she asked what's your favorite color or kind of in a joking way what's your favorite city and he just went on and said well I'll tell you who we've been hearing from the most and it's the Raiders from Raiders from the golf fans from the fans yeah no you're not team I'm saying from fans there at the event but she spotted in a way that well what's your favorite color or your favorite city like he's going to tell you know where he's going to end up he has no say over it either but he talked about hearing from from Raiders fans everything Aaron Rodgers does to me is intentional so I take that for what that's worth I don't think he makes mistakes when he's talking into a microphone so he's going to say what he wants to say and if he's talking about that then you know he knows that is a solid option for him to go and possibly win if he's a Raider and on Friday he's he's at the Tee Box and uh he's people are asking him about the Niners he goes it's not going to be I'm not going to be a 49er he's already you know he knows that so I'm sure in these meetings that they had the couple days after the season that some things were tossed around and this to me leads me to believe the the report about Green Bay only wanted to trade him within the AFC uh I I lean towards that being accurate based on the teams that we're hearing Jets and Raiders and the teams that he's even saying he's not going to that our quarterback needy all of a sudden including the Niners who if Tom Brady were still uh unretired we would be naming him as a logical choice and landing spot for them so get ready for the off season of Aaron Rodgers it ends sooner rather than later it's not going to go until June or whatever like we've seen in the past because because of the trades that will happen prior to the draft and a lot of these trades also will be dictated by the new league year on March 15th when contracts lock in for certain guys on other rosters that Green Bay may involve in the trade don't know but there is at least some deadline from the team's end of things to get the ball rolling on this uh once Aaron Rodgers is locked into the said team and it sounds like it's it's Vegas I wonder what kind of and again I know the the whole NFC thing with the Packers but just in general how locked in are the 49ers to trade Lance in terms of not moving him at all or him not being a negotiating point for for another team based on what they gave up it to me it's tough to just trade them away for like a third round pick now yeah well I'm I'm saying that because the Packers for instance if you like Trey Lance at all but you you can't trade whatever Sam Fran would need because the guy's coming off a broken ankle yeah well I mean I'm talking about a trade package including Trey Lance to get Aaron Rodgers that's what that's what I'm saying I would I would want picks in return not Trey Lance based on his but the only team that's really going to know about his status is saying 49ers and if San Fran is already willing to part ways with him then you know it's bad two years after the draft and one year after being named the starter um yeah there's some uncertainty there for sure and also like where is Jordan loving all this for Green Bay that's a name you never hear never I hear more about Trey Lance yes everywhere than than Jordan love that's not good I'm going to go ahead and read into that and say that's not good news because I I don't know that the Packers are just dying to get him out there no I I don't think they could uh Tiki Barber says that Daniel Jones will be the best quarterback in the NFC East speaking of names that we didn't talk about until this year that's there's no way that we would have uh jumped ahead 12 months and said that Daniel Jones is going to win everyone over new head coach Barkley's coming off injury they're trying to revamp their offensive line it's hard to name their wide receiving Corps and here's Daniel Jones with an opportunity to cash in with Brian dabal after one year together look I just in general I don't care what former players of a team that are attached to a team when they give an opinion that's not surprising hey the quarterback of my Giants is going to be the best quarterback in the NFC don't care the real story would have been if Brian Westbrook for instance said a former Eagles running back to Daniel Jones is better than Jalen hurts now that's a that's a story that's a headline now the debate that this could spark of Daniel Jones versus Jalen hurts versus Dak Prescott versus whatever the heck Taylor heinecke or whatever the commanders are going to trot out there yeah that's that's interesting to me but Daniel Jones had a nice season hunting Jalen hurts is the best quarterback in that division right now if I'm drafting I'm drafting him over Dak and Daniel Jones so I think where he's coming from is he's saying and I agree with you he's saying the talent around hurts compared to the talent around Jones and when you compare what Jones did this year with day ball it spoke more to the player than the roster and that's the I don't buy I think Hertz has done a great job the resume speaks for itself they've lost one game with him as the starter but man they have an All-Star roster around at every at every position group and I think that's kind of the point is the Giants came out of nowhere after winning four games and they were the talk of the not just the city of New York but the talk of the league for a long time and in large part because Jones didn't turn the football over and he did a nice job this past year he's going to get paid I still take hurts over him the real debate though is do you take Prescott over him at this point yes so it so he's about where you would expect him to be but the you know there's not as not nearly as much doubt creeping in with him as we had a year ago there's so much more meat on the bone so much more evidence to point to that given the system and the fit with the coach things can get a lot better around him and he's only going to improve based on that well and that's that's to me the Daniel Jones question year two now under Brian Day ball uh is Mike Kafka back or does he get one of these remaining jobs right but if he has a second year he has not had any luck in terms of coaching and coordinators in his time up until this year and he looks pretty good under a good competent offensive minded head coach and Brian dabal he had 55 combined turnovers his first year and they were trying to let it rip and Dave ball came in and said we want to do that with him well can he sustain or get better I think he's gonna get better yeah ball in year two so that's the case if he gets better I would take him over Dak Prescott right now I'm probably giving slight Edge to Dak yeah I agree with that and Jalen hurts one DAC two Jones three but given a second year with that continuity with Dave ball and Kafka who's to say he's not going to be better Kevin Steele is back with Nick Saban at Alabama the Miami defensive coordinator joining no idea he was in Miami by the way the Crips had time I saw the story no idea has been around man everywhere this is what third stop with Alabama fourth I think it's his fourth time on Nick Saban's staff okay different times as coordinator or position coach with four time on staff and back with Saban yet again and I mean this this doesn't feel like the move to join Saban and then get a step up somewhere right I don't see the trampoline effect the way that we would see with like kiffin or sarkeesian you agree with that and given that I also look at this and think there's no coincidence that Jeremy Pruitt was floated out there as the guy yep Pruitt was also I mean if you go back to the interviews with Tennessee Kevin still was a finalist for that job that Pruitt received so I just viewed this to save and just going down that same path to get a guy that he he knows respects and certainly is hiring someone that knows exactly the expectation for what he's bringing in after potentially I I haven't seen this but there was rumored that he wanted to go with Pruitt but Pruitt's got all the stuff with him yeah look prove it would be the better hire based on recent track record as Saban's defensive coordinator Pruitt though is poisoned in the NCAA right now so that wasn't going to happen Kevin Steele in his career uh he played at Furman and Tennessee then he coached to Tennessee here's everywhere he's been okay you ready oh yep um New Mexico State Oklahoma State back to Tennessee Nebraska Carolina Panthers Baylor as head coach for three years Florida State Alabama as defensive coordinator in 07 Alabama as coordinator slash inside linebackers coach in 08 Clemson back to Alabama as director of player Personnel then he got upgraded to linebacker coach the next year we're now up to 2014. he keeps going LSU as defensive coordinator linebacker coach 2015 one year only 2016-20 Auburn defensive coordinator 2020 Auburn interim head coach 2021 remember he got hired and he was a short time interim head coach at Tennessee when Pruitt got fired yeah then Miami defensive coordinator now back to Alabama under Nick Saban that is a track record and in all that time his head coaching record is 9 and 37 in his four years at Baylor when he was a head coach but a career assistant other than that he's 64 years old I thought he'd be older I mean based on that resume yeah I mean he could he could be defensive coordinator for saving for a while if he wanted but also I mean also consider that he's there with crystal ball you know like that's I keep you like his connections throughout College he's still leaving to go back to his very highly thought of yeah he's a guy a lot of people like and respect and and all different coaching trees and there he's touched and been apart without a doubt he wanted to get back to the SEC that's the other that's the other move he's making here well I mean you know he's I'm just looking through the list he has coached for Bobby Bowden and Tom Osborne and uh Johnny Majors and Philip Fulmer and Nick Saban and he's been a lot of cool places in terms of guys he's learned under or that have touched his career throughout the throughout his stop so again a very highly decorated assistant coach makes a ton of sense for Nick Saban he has the familiarity he's been there before and if it's not Jeremy Pruitt this I think is probably the next best route they could have gone Chad the the Leah Thomas connections they just they just it's like Kevin Bacon always presenting Seven Degrees of Separation there's always a Leah Thomas connection story it out kick uh Bethany Hamilton who's a surfer she posted a video online saying she's not going to compete against biological males at the world surf League because they pass a new rule allowing transgender competitors in the women's division the WSL they say they're just following Olympic guidelines but Hamilton she is in the National Spotlight because of a shark attack she lost her left arm that this happened when she was 14 years old but despite that she has continued to have a stellar surfing career she's a pro at this but she says as a pro she's not going to compete against biological males so is this the inspiration of the movie Soul Surfer isn't her story baby I can't see you behind that I think there was yes um yeah so my I know that because my niece Nebraska loved this movie when she was a little girl would watch Soul Surfer all the time and I saw the picture and saw the name I'm like I think that's the same girl with the shark attack here's the deal we got to get to a place where she doesn't feel like she's being brave to State the obvious right and I'm not saying she's wrong but like this should not be a courageous stance to say yeah I'm not going to compete against men I've competed against women so I'm not going to now revert to competing against biological men in a competition this should not be a bold or courageous stance this should just be fact so hopefully we can evolve this is this is uh here's what progress is let's progress back to the point where we all recognize in athletics men compete against men and women compete against women and then that's where we're going to be really Progressive then we can just get back to saying oh what this young some athlete is saying is that you know I'm not going to compete against a man that's not brave that's fact that's truth that's what we should be doing let's get back to that that's my stance we have let's see Dan dockage coming up in about 20 minutes and also in hour number two Jeff Fisher will join us in studio a lot to discuss there he'll get he'll help us dissect the coaching moves that have been made the head coaching hires have been made across the NFL and then the two openings that remain with the Colts and Cardinals and we'll also preview the upcoming Super Bowl matchups when we come back though a classic getting a reboot that snacks now kick 360. I witnessed you know Dennis Price and sea spray and all these people just do such amazing things and we continue to get asked uh about the from about Afghanistan and what we didn't do in Ukraine like why would you like Beyond disease is no-brainer why I would go help disease why would we continue to help these people and uh you know I think the easy answer is it's the right thing to do like I mean when the government's to the world fail completely failed including our own uh it was very discouraging but was what one we hope was to see that when the governments of the world failed good people stood up and did what the governments wouldn't do and couldn't probably do and and did the right thing and that was really encouraging for me because I had you know I think all of us kind of struggle with hope in our country right now because of the political divide and things that we don't agree with but it was really hopeful to see that when the governments don't do the right thing people do and uh and you know one of the things myself and sea spray were asking is in this interview was uh you know why would you do it and of course we said because there's the right thing to do but sea spray was asked a question I think it's important to get all learned from he was asked was it worth it was it worth it and he said it doesn't have to be um it doesn't have to be worth it to do the right thing and uh whether it's something like this or in your personal lives like I think we all have the ability to do the right thing in our own little spheres of our life and uh and we always try to balance the ROI like what are we gonna get out of it what's the return on investment but it doesn't always have to be worth it to do the right thing and in this case you know I don't know if it was worth it or not if it was worth it to Aziz and his family and the 17 000 Afghans and I believe that burn guy put in our heart you know I think it was worth it to God to for us to be obedient and go do that call but I think I think the world could learn something from from this there is hope that people will there's good people around and will stand up do the right things people that have supported us we're not people that typically agree with there's a lot of people that follow me on Instagram that hate me and Bash me for my conservative abuse and stuff like that but they were they were writing me like hey I don't like you but what you're doing is awesome and where can I support where can I get money and uh it was so cool that we had this Jewish organization that they wanted to pay for two planes which was like 1.5 million big donation and they called me back and they said hey we're trying to make the donation but we can't do it and I was like oh wow did it give you a wrong routing number or something they said no we're a Jewish organization and mighty Oaks Foundation by Foundation is a Christian organization and we can't give you that money and I said okay but you do realize we'll rescuing Muslims right we're kind of lasting and uh move forward and they made that donation it was just an amazing moment in time where politics religion like nothing else matters besides good people standing up and do the right thing for other people and uh and it'll always be like just super special to me to have been part of that yeah no I mean it's it's the whole thing and like I said to the audience go ahead and get the book saving disease you can get it anywhere you want to get books it's an incredible story and I think it's something young people especially should learn about and everyone because it does go to show that there's good people you know everyone wants to beat each other's throats these days that's kind of what the media teaches you to do hate each other everyone's a villain if you disagree you have to hate not true not true at all so I think your story is it was you know represents that that you can a lot of good out there now on the Ukraine because I do want to talk about this because this is the war is ongoing what was your experience when it comes to the situation Ukraine well it's changed it's changed since I began you know I started in February uh we had sea sprayers on the ground before The Invasion because we knew it was coming we were watching it unfold and uh and then I went immediately after the invasion I went I was in Ukraine you know days after the invasion and originally we went there to see you know hey how can we how can we help um Afghanistan different people couldn't go into Afghanistan and load up Mass amounts of people to get them out we were able to do that Ukraine people could drive a bus across the border open the door load it up and get people out so the mass evacs were not something we needed to do and you know we want to think about Special Operations is you do what's special you do what other people can't [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] foreign [Music] ER but how much cash do you have on you did you not bring enough money to cover this game I brought like 80 minus 60. you ready what's up with your boy he's almost done I'm like the PT Anderson of basketball psychological warfare who is PT Anderson our greatest living director Spike Lee is our greatest living director I Glee's not even a good Knicks fan I know this is a mistake [Music] [Applause] [Music] the reboot of White Men Can't Jump Chad your thoughts um no one was asking for this the original is a cinematic classic Woody Harrelson yeah and uh Wesley Snipes and um wrote uh oh gosh I'm liking her name now uh Lopez Rosie Rosie Perez thank you I'm watching another show right now with her and your honor with Brian Cranston from Breaking Bad that's really good um yeah look it there are times that you can like you know Tinker with something from uh a past era 80s or 90s and turn into something that's relevant in today's climate in today's entertainment World there are other times where if you if you got to go to Jack Harlow to play the part of Woody Harrelson that's a pretty big step down so I don't know that you need to mess with that in terms of White Men Can't Jump I love the original movie that trailer wasn't terrible I thought it was okay way better than 80 for Brady which we'll get into later so I thought it looked okay it looked uh nice and clean and Polished and well produced and all that Jack Harlow wasn't awful in the trailer but I still watched the trailer and immediately think why are we doing this are we adding something to it is there a different element to this one is it a shot for shot remake because they do have the same subway stop or whatever they're getting off of at one point going down the stairs in this movie so I guess my big question hunting is why I just hope it's I mean I hope it's it's better than what Space Jam 2 apparently was you know like there was again like you're tying in the star with the Space Jam you know the the the catalog I get it but I don't hear anyone talking about that the way we talked about the the original right and this you're right no one's asking for this I used to watch this on VHS all the time as a kid I I love this movie the the original now when I first saw that they were going to remake or reboot White Men Can't Jump I thought okay it's going to be a series like did right you expanded out right it's a whole universe like you're gonna have the The Hustler that comes to LA and is hustling people in basketball games but there's got to be like a life behind it there's got to be a more of a backstory there's got to be a cast of characters like an And1 tour yeah well like a cast of characters playing pickup ball you know or whatever and it's a show yeah that that would be my pitch if I were doing it but they actually came in and said no we just want to do White Men Can't Jump in 90 minutes again one movie I don't I don't get that it's like they just I'd be more excited about on their on their side this is Jack Harlow's big break right look we're gonna we're gonna break this is the Eight Mile for Jack Harper and when Eminem said you know I'm gonna do a movie but it's going to be drama yeah I'm gonna play a white it's gonna be Loosely autobiographical but I'm gonna play a white rapper named B rabbit then that's where they wanted to go with this Jack Harlow who grew up in Kentucky I'm guessing playing basketball I I can play basketball so now I'm gonna do this Chad um was basketball played between Tennessee and Auburn this weekend is that what you would call that rugby maybe uh I felt like yeah it was it was a physical scrum it was tough to watch a game that was in the final Tennessee won they hung on to win game was in the 40s played in the 40s 46-43 I want to say it's like the lowest scoring SEC game since 1985. I think I read that between two teams in the SEC 46-43 finals 23-19 at halftime Tennessee was down eight nothing and down 10-2 I play with the women's basketball that would have been boy what happened a big turn then at the end Rick Barnes said oh I got the problem we played with a girls ball the entire time yeah um it was tough to watch but neither team got great looks it was good defense throughout the game but it was also every open shot a remotely open shot nothing was going to fall for either team you did watch a great game between Duke and Carolina yeah they lived up to the expectation I I went back and watched the highlights of this I was not expect this to be what they were trying to make it out to it always is though between these two and Tobacco Road and that was the first time in the history of that series that the two coaches in the series played in the Rivalry Head to Head isn't that crazy they've never had until now John Shire versus Hubert Davis two men who played well you had 40 Years of you know close to it of uh okay of coachevsky who played at army so that's a big part of it um Derek Lively was terrific he had four points but he had 18 rebounds and I think or 14 rebounds and eight blocks the blocks he affected the game in a huge way for Duke I thought he was great five-star freshman big man um really entertaining game I watched most the second half of that one always a fun one to watch but even when those two teams aren't ranked they're still great drama down the stretch and the Cameron Indoor too yeah but that's you know that is the first Marquee win for John Shire I don't care if Carolina's not ranked they were pre-season number one and he won the tobacco what has happened with Carolina to fall like this it's hard to it's hard to follow the Duke but to follow the way they they have over the last few months they haven't had terrible injuries Bay cop plays Caleb love who was the star of the NCAA tournament a year ago he's playing I don't know I went and watched uh over the weekend knock at the cabin oh yeah solid the new M Night Shyamalan movie I want to watch this uh yeah Sol solid job yet again by him I would I would go see that over 80 for Brady I nearly sent you and Davey a a a photo of Eddie for Brady outside the theater because there were actually people that went and saw this um and we didn't check the boxes to make it as if I was going into that theater you know yeah I held back though I didn't want the the ridicule of of Withrow a little bit later in the show I didn't want to see Matt in there I got a uh well or Alejandro may have flown in he loves he loves the damn movie so much he may be going to every city in America to watch it um to make sure he pumps up the the box office everywhere uh my I got a review from my aunt we'll get into later but for her birthday her request hunting 80 for Brady in theaters so she gave me my guess is it's it's glowing I can't wait to hear the specifics of this coming up in about 20 minutes Jeff Fisher will join us in studio here at 6th and Peabody we'll talk uh with uh the former NFL and usfl head coach about the decision this past week that came out with him not coaching the usfl this upcoming season and what's in store on the horizon plus his thoughts on the head coaching hires across the NFL and two to be made including the Cardinals who have narrowed it down to three coaches Brian Flores louanna rumo and Mike Kafka with Monty Austin Fort the new general manager there all of that and more we lead off though with Dan dokich next on outkick 360. college football's in trouble there's a lot of people trying to keep it from happening I think it's a general consensus across the college football landscape we want to play football college football is a huge part of the Fall it's a huge part of Americana itself it just really felt like people in the country needed college football to just feel a little sense of normal big news from the Big Ten as the conference releasing its 10-game football schedule we go home thinking they're going back to the next day everybody gets a text stay home everything's canceled Big Ten fall football season has been canceled we just believe collectively there's too much uncertainty I guess what I'm trying to understand though Kevin is that was the same position you had six days ago the Big Ten is an unmitigated disaster there was a ton of confusion there was Presidents saying one thing there was coaches saying another players had to be selling coaches had to be signed ads had to be some people said how does what you just did make any sense and nobody really knew what the heck happened when they voted to cancel the season you make this huge historical announcement and then Kevin Warren never does a press conference to explain it it was like a master class and how not to handle a crisis the word really that was lacking in all this is transparency it felt like a lot of stuff was happening behind closed doors even today we still don't know what occurred so you don't tell us parents that's fine but you're not telling the young men that it affects we have to make a decision to save the season what about the history books what about the rivalry games what about Paul Bunyan's acts how is that not going to go to a team this year this is a failure of Epic magnitude the Big Ten presidents and leaders should be held accountable for the disastrous decisions that they're making then the commissioner doubles down saying his decision will not be Revisited and that's the point it felt like a war was declared on the Big Ten and Kevin Warren everything because if this is medical then you would have stopped the game of football a long time ago I think the big ten leaders will tell you that they probably made a mistake in hindsight if I had the chance to do it all over last year um I would I would do make the same decisions that we made foreign [Music] [Music] foreign foreign [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] former Rams and Titans head coach Jeff Fisher will be in studio with us in 15 minutes looking forward to having him ends for discussion on many topics including the new hires across the NFL the finalists in Arizona and what's going to happen in Indy I'm not sure Jeff can tell us all of that with irsay but we'll give our opinion on it also looking forward to just chatting about uh the future for him which is not going to include the usfl and Chad you and I we watched the 30 for 30 on the Baltimore Ravens and his Titans teams were a big part of discussion and all of that with the Rivalry could not stop thinking about uh coach Fisher in our talk with him today watching this because the era that this documentary encapsulates was so fantastic yeah I miss it and those Ravens Titans games and that entire AFC Central at the time just great when you watch some of this what is now old footage doesn't feel that old to me I remember the games well but you know now we're looking back 23 years ago with this 2000 season but it's really well done that 30 for 30. we lead off the hour though with Dan dankich don't at me with Dan dockett's mornings across the out kick Network and he joins us each Monday on our kick 360. Dan good to see you man oh my God am I doing good I'm wearing red the Hoosiers got to win the Colts are still looking for a coach but I don't care Purdue the natural order of things in the state of Indiana is back as Purdue got their brains beat out in Assembly Hall and the women went into Machi Arena and beat him so life is good what so what did you learn about your Hoosiers facing off against the top ranked team and taking them down by five nothing that we didn't already know they're a bit of a we'll see if they can stack wins I I really learned a lot about Purdue frankly going in and I've been there when I was there 17 years so that's 17 home games with Purdue 17 crazy fans there are some nights in Assembly Hall the opposing team isn't going to win and most nights the opposing team cracks and goes away I actually learned more about Purdue I I came away really impressed Assembly Hall was insane uh Purdue down Indiana playing out of their mind but Purdue had a real chance to win the game and that's a testament to them Indiana is good but Indiana uh we'll see can they come back and beat Rutgers you know it's tough College basketball's tough you saw a bad no call in the Auburn Tennessee game Tennessee and Auburn grinding it out a lot of even teams but I think Purdue's pretty good so I'm going to ask you about that you said it's a bad no call um the same player got hit with a with a technical for flopping extending the arms out on a shot and putting his legs around a Defender earlier I think he gets that call if that doesn't happen he had gotten warned about it once he got the call one other time in the game I thought come on the play did a good job of staying straight up but certainly an argument could be made that he was underneath his Landing space but what do you think about that when officials see someone trying to milk something for a call do they then go back and you're less likely to get it later in the game yeah you'd like to think that that wouldn't come into play right you'd like to think that all right this happened we called it now this is going to happen we called it now that's going to happen we called it you know it's the same thing with the age-old argument of hey look you don't make that call at the end of the game officials will tell you I got to make the same call at the end of the game that I make earlier I I know exactly what you're saying and I I just think officials are human I mean human nature says look with this particular guy I'm looking for the Flop but you know one of the things the reason I said it was a bad call was because every year there are points of emphasis for officials and one of the points of emphasis this year and last year was coming down in somebody's shooting space because of ankles ankle injury guys stepping underneath players actually started doing that kind of stuff on purpose to injure other players you know I thought the pressure was pretty good but you got to let a guy come down if you're going to use that as a point of emphasis um but I get what you're saying look the there is no doubt absolutely no doubt that you don't want officials to be human you want them to call this this way but they are and those things factor in totally agree with you what'd you make of Jim behind's comments about Pittsburgh and Wake Forest and Miami buying guys and his top booster he won't pay anyone on his team give us give us the Dan Dakich Indiana basketball school of thought on on things like this when they're said well the Indiana basketball school of thought with bob Knight was everybody else is cheating I mean we didn't get a recruit while they're cheating but you know that's that's the Indiana exactly Bob Knight's school one of you guys he sounds like he played for bob Knight when he starts saying these things in a press conference yeah behind fan and I sent him a text I don't know if you're right or wrong but I love it I didn't hear back from him usually I hear back from him uh the truth of the matter is there were always rumors about why'd Billy Owens end up at Syracuse why Derrick Coleman why are those guys from Detroit I know Dave Bing played and said there were always rumors about hey man what's going on when they play at the Garden I will tell you this Brevin Knight the assistant is a great player at Pittsburgh and his assistant now at Rutgers basically said hey Coach Boeheim we know what was going on before nil don't throw stones in a glass house I don't know everybody always asks me well who did you know was cheating the only team that I knew was cheating was West Virginia when I went there to be the head coach and I had players I had coach I had everybody giving me first-hand information but I love the fact that Boeheim said it I don't like the fact that he backed off of it hey look you can do that now when you lose saw hell they bought a team that was the bob Knight when we lost a recruit what he's going to Michigan ah they paid him what he's going to wherever ah you know they were doing things so lose the game blame cheating I'm all in on it good for bayheim he's 78 what does he care well good good for bayheim saying it I'm not surprised that we hear a coach uh say it it's who he named with Pitt and Miami and Wake Forest yeah that's why I I was like not exactly what murderers wrote what is this talking about uh I was more surprised what team's involved well Miami had been involved in fact Jim Lear Nega well his program was brought up in the southern district of New York investigation a few years ago and I swear to God I saw laranega in the summer and he looked like death you could tell he was sweating everything out so their program had been mentioned going backwards now uh who did baheim lose to well you got to look he lost a wake he lied so then you're going to make those accusations I think it's all silly I think right now uh in the public eye in college basketball people roll their eyes and they say well you know what I've had people tell me this today well you know what Jim your big booster should get involved and oh by the way he just got a big time recruit uh that that signed up and guess what that recruit was sitting sitting with one of bayheim's biggest boosters front row at the Garden hanging with some boosters about a week ago so you know what I love behind I love love that he did it hate that he apologized for it but that's the modern world in college basketball and I honestly don't think anybody really cares what's going to happen with the Colts what what's what what's going on with Jim Murphy they had eight weeks before anybody else uh maybe Carolina did too they had eight weeks they had eight weeks you know what they had a head start they they they got rid of uh what's his face Reich a month before the season end or more eight week I don't know anybody that tells you they do know they are lying to you they are I saw today where all of a sudden Wink Martindale or whatever that guy's name is is now the guy that's supposed to come in here and be the head I saw his his odds in Vegas went to minus 700 I will tell you this would it surprise me if Jimmy irze hired a defensive guy no it would not what I think Jimmy irsay wants to do is hire Jeff Saturday I think he's in love with the era of Jeff Saturday Reggie Miller Peyton Manning and all that I think he's getting a ton of pushback from a number of areas one within his own building from Ballard two fans are like hey look what are you doing a guy had an audition he went one one for seven night it wasn't even a good one for seven it was a crap one for seven so I would argue that Vegas always knows Martindale jumping up like he did today tells me something but I will tell you this if anybody in the media or anybody anywhere gives a definitive this is what they're doing they are not telling the truth I got two guys that tell me everything and frankly they have been right honest to God every time I've been called a jerk an idiot all this stuff because of what they've told me and it's turned out to be right they tell me they got no idea would it surprise me if Jim ursay fell in love with me Wink Martindale no it wouldn't surprise me hell he talked to a guy Jim or say you know would it surprise me if he hired Saturday no but they've had plenty of time and this is not I don't care what you believe the Indianapolis media is covering for Chris Ballard this has been an unorganized mess Peyton Sean Payton didn't want to interview uh D'Amico Ryan said nah we're good they had no idea this is not a real attractive thing right now so maybe Martindale's the guy maybe it works out well Dan the other unusual part of this is you mentioned that the length of how much time is has passed since right was out they're not allowing Gus Bradley to interview for a lateral move elsewhere where he's under contract as the defensive coordinator in Indy but normally if you're changing head coaches and your staff wants out um now I mean it's past time for teams to put staffs together for the most part and you know what this is another sign that they're staying with the status quo isn't it it kind of is they have screwed guys before they've screwed a guy named Ron prince who was the head coach at Kansas State they screwed him big time Pagano did actually in a situation just like this so look whether status quo is we're going to hire you know Martindale we're gonna have a defensive coordinator that he knows or whether status quo as AR defense was okay we're going to have an established head coach with Jeff Saturday I'm just telling you I'm just telling you Jimmy irsay has played this close to the vest I'm assuming and this is the way the Colts operate I I assume at some point fairly soon maybe within the next week or two you're gonna see maybe sooner than that actually you're going to see Chris Mortensen uh old Mort's going to have some kind of tweet because that's Jimmy ersei's go-to guy when he wants stuff leaked so I assume you're going to see old Mort come out with something has John Morant or anyone in his Entourage pointed a laser or anything at you I know he's been pointing at the Indiana Pacers I didn't know if it was just anyone from Indiana uh well what do you make of that crazy story I make that there's a father that can't handle his son's success so many times we talk about hey look a kid can't handle success hey this idiot dad and The Idiot Brother you know morant's saying well they checked it out nothing's happening except that his brother has been banned from home games do you know how hard it is to be banned from home games number one number two how hard it is when your brother is the face of that City and one of the faces of the NBA my guys in Indy tell me it absolutely happened now whatever the NBA wants to do with it I know the security people there and they are great dudes they do not lie and one of them said yeah it was like I think in the article he said yeah I was definitely a gun these guys know guns these guys know this so the NBA being with the NBA the most woke of all leagues will brush it aside Morant came out with a typically idiotic statement his dad acts like a fool his brother's been banned John Moran's great and by all accounts of fantastic kids but his people are complete dummies and he's got to separate himself or something really bad is going to happen imagine this imagine you're in a car you're in your own Arena and all of a sudden one of your Idiot Friends points a gun or at least a laser and John Moran is like the softest dude ever like he's as un gangster or whatever you want to call it ever but here he is trying to be something he is and he got to get rid of his own family members and that ain't easy to do did you ever have to tell a player that as a coach uh I told a player he had to get rid of the hottest girl on campus once because I heard she was selling weed I'm like dude you got to get rid of her or you got to go home because she sell she's selling weed I know she's selling weed and uh you're gonna get caught being in her apartment all right to the kids credit he did it good for him and then he transferred but what are you gonna do it's not normally the hot girl that's a drug dealer on campus yeah very unusual whatever's going on that campus I I there's two things about really hot girls they're never the ones screaming at their kids at the supermarket and they're never the ones selling weed and I'm telling you I I told this kid I go this is very odd to me like this girl is the one selling the weed like no but she was and actually she admitted it I got to know her again she a minute years later she goes how did you know and I said I can't tell them you know I can't I can't get my sources can't barrier sources ever it's going to be a a really fun week across the network for us Dan we're headed out to Arizona tomorrow I know you're going to have coverage from Radio row as well with our setup it's going to be a blast and uh here's hoping we get a a really good game on Sunday yeah we got we got will Kane on tomorrow which is perfect because Kyrie Irving comes to Dallas and Fox News is through Dallas then we got Anthony Munoz on true story I used to wear his clothes I used to wear Munoz Ware when I was the head coach at Bowling Green swear to God they sold it at Target it was incredibly comfortable clothes or Kmart I think it was Kmart I swear to God my friends used to go my friends would go are you wearing Munoz where I go yeah I love Munoz Ware so I can't wait till tomorrow it's going to be fun what's the old uh Market uh Chad roses or something like that that's where that's where dinosaurs amazing the Kmart reference completely gone too yeah hey we'll look forward to it keep up the great work we'll chat soon all right guys travel safe thanks man don't at me with Dan dockets mornings 9 A.M Eastern right here on the out kick Network coming up Jeff Fisher joins us in studio here at 6th and Peabody a lot to discuss across the NFL and more it's all straight ahead on now kick 360. it's so crazy because Tom Brady is just a touch older than me I believe now there are no NFL players older than me which that's the first time in my life I can say that okay so now I feel really old now I feel truly and and really old I'm sorry man God that's horrible I didn't know that feeling maybe there's a punter or a kicker I have to check maybe I'm hoping there's like an old like a long time punter kicker a Long Snapper that's a little bit but I don't think so and it's it's amazing to be thinking about Brady the last few years like and I feel when I wake up in the morning I can't even imagine to play in the NFL like this right yeah I mean it's it well and I don't even know if if last season should have happened but that's not up for me that's not for anybody I I don't have the drive Tom Brady has I'm I'm very willing to admit that right it seemed to me just as an outsider with no inside information whatsoever that he was tired and that he engaged in normal life for the first time in a long time was like yeah this sucks I'll get back to the NFL right I don't like the daycare thing I love my kids I don't like dropping it off I don't want to go play Pickleball at three o'clock in the afternoon like let's get back to to normal eh but it'd be interesting like you you know I don't I don't know if we'll see another quarterback take it that far Andy in the NFL like I yeah yeah you got Aaron Rodgers gonna be 39. you got him hinting at retirement now and it does feel like the games maybe take a little more toll on his body than than Brady maybe maybe there's you know some Ayahuasca that'll that'll fix that but it is it's crazy that that it lasted this long I mean I I think back to how much my life you know I I graduated college in 2000 and you know working my first job watching watching Tom Brady lead the Patriots when they were The Underdogs to the win against the Rams in the Super Bowl and thinking well that's a cool story six round guy you know hope the career works out for him and the the level of winning and just consistency I'm not sure we're gonna see it again no and I and I don't I don't especially with the quarterback who has that tenacity he also puts in everything into the game like it's like he can't take a breather um and it just he has a different workflow you know it kind of reminded me of what Kobe Bryant used to do uh in the NBA well or you can go on and name name month uh yeah but now but but I'm interested to see now you know what that looks like in the future and and does this and I'll ask you this because this news could break while we're down here in Mobile uh Todd monkin Georgia offensive coordinator does this make room for him now to potentially say okay I can go to Tampa we can go find a quarterback that works for me in my system and maybe take over the offensive coordinator position once you what have your thoughts been on the monkey Buccaneer stuff are you just are you ready for sets embedded is this the the Buccaneers starting quarterback is are we ready to live in a world where Stetson Bennett it's very interesting because you know Monken I think you know you look at that that tenure with Jameis Winston in Tampa it didn't go as well as anybody would have wanted and maybe monkey's going well if I had a different quarterback one who didn't put the ball In Harm's Way as as often perhaps that works out [Music] thank you foreign [Music] foreign [Music] with you joined in studio here on site by Jeff Fisher former Titans and Rams Head Coach former Michigan Panthers head coach of the usfl as well announced late last week that he will not return for season two of the usfl coach good to see you in studio with us man thanks for having me this is kind of cool yeah yeah welcome home welcome that's good I like it uh Chad your thoughts on on fish's debut as a co-host whenever you were out in Nebraska it was uh almost too good I watched and I was like damn we don't need to be too good out there when I'm gone and he was uh he was that good so that was that was my impression nice digs around here though right because they are I remember Chad do you would you agree with what I just said you know I just kept giving to you the thumbs up while you were gone yeah exactly I was like I was I was watching from Nebraska thinking that's right that's it you keep doing that right there whatever you're doing was working too much you did a great job but we knew you would well it's it's hot he brings the best out in everything he's an excellent he's an excellent point guard great distributor of the basketball yeah I know I know you really enjoyed last season with the usfl why did you decide to to not return this year you know appreciate appreciate you asking you know it was um it was a blast uh getting in on the ground floor uh helping everybody you know my new friends at Fox uh you know and um and then all the coaches and work with Mike prayer and officials and the players I really had a blast and um I was really happy to see the way it took off I was a little disappointed in my record things but I'll explain that later date but anyway um I'm convinced that they're they're off to a great start they're going to see year two and I felt like I was just better off stepping out uh when I did um and I'm gonna try to help try to stay on try to help them however I can I'm gonna be two hours from you know both hubs or two of the hubs and know and you know Memphis and Birmingham and then you know uh just a quick flight away you know from uh you know the Canton and the Michigan hubs just so you know if they need my help I'm going to help them but it was time you know as I mentioned in my statement with Fox it's just uh I got five grandbabies and uh I've been doing this a long long time and um I just wanted to have a you know the freedom to do what I wanted to in the spring and and in addition to that I'm I'm kind of messing around with maybe launching my um like this kind of radio like thing career maybe on Horizon I'm hoping that is but um I I really enjoyed it I I you know I'm gonna miss the coaches miss the players and I think as I mentioned to you somebody asked me after two or three weeks and we were struggling and all kinds of things were going on players were getting hit by drones in the Huddle when you know the coach to coach the quarterback systems going off and we can't practice and you know it was just they said knowing what you know now would you do it all over again and I said once you ask me you know when the season's over and then ask me again in July and so season was over um I had at that point I had two or three coaches that got into the league as you know minority internship type program and then you know we had in week 17 last year I had two of our players on active rosters and that's really why I did it I want I was in it to help young coaches to give them advice and then as well as to help the young players well mission accomplished on both ends there very cool um Sean Payton's back in after a year off head coach for the Denver Broncos what do you think about the the year off get jumping back into it and now it's Peyton and Russell Wilson together and they're locked into it based on investment with three first-round picks three second round picks and more that they've invested in those two guys well I'm not putting Russell in the same class as Drew but Russell can win games I tossed and turned so many nights over Russell you know when we had those match-ups and with the Rams and the Seahawks but um I think it's a great uh it's a great combination I think Sean's going to do really well with him I'd like to see Russell maybe shed a few pounds this is just me personally I thought maybe he got maybe there were injuries or whatever but he just didn't look as fit to me as as he was in years past if he does that and he's mobile I think it's a great matchup now you understand there's new ownership there um so um the a new owner um is is probably better suited being paired with somebody with Sean's experience so that he can explain to him why this happened when this happened and what the thinking is and all that kind of stuff so I think it's a great matchup Denver's got a great fan base it's unfortunate that what happened the decisions that they made last year and and what happened to them but if anybody's going to pull them pull them back um it's going to be Sean and keep in mind I mean he pretty much had his pick you know from what I understand he could have gone wherever he wanted and he chose this because of I'm sure because of ownership because of the roster and and because of the opportunity to work with Russell I'm curious that this he had his opening press conference today Peyton did and he was asked one of the things he said was in his introduction he was asked about Russell Wilson he said one of the things is we're no longer we're not no longer going to have personal coaches in the building like last season quote that's not going to happen here that's not going to take place here um did you have instances of this where you have rookies coming in trying to bring their own crew through this is unusual because of the veteran aspect at least for me and to me the Broncos would have known this up front by trading for Russell Wilson Maybe I'm Wrong there is he suggesting that Russell had his own coach in the building other than on the staff yes so just I'll read it directly Sean Payton introduced with as the Broncos new coach today one of the things he said was Russell Wilson will no longer be allowed to have his personal coaches in the building like last season quote that's not going to take place here well without due respect to Nathaniel Hackett um you know I played in college for Paul Hackett and I know the family and and you know I have I did a game for Fox down there the Jets at Jacksonville and spent some time with him and actually interviewed Nathaniel but he wasn't ready to be a coach and you know and then I heard you guys can verify there's four weeks into it he goes out and he hires a a game management person yes so that place was doomed to fail from the get-go and if he let players bring in those kinds of assistance and you know own trainers and this and that then yeah it's all out of control and so so yeah that if that's what Sean's talking about that's a no-brainer I mean everybody should know better than that you had a chance to coach and for two different franchises Titans and the Rams Frank Reich is now going to get that opportunity to be a head coach again uh first with the Colts now with the Panthers what do you think about that move for Carolina the job Frank did in Indy and maybe some of the benefits of the second go-around and things you learn in between jobs when you take the next job well I think um he didn't get enough time to to reflect and learn from it because you know I think I said this on the last time we visited do you think the Colts with Frank Wright as a head coach would have given up at what it was a 28 or 32 point lead to Minnesota with 12 minutes left to go in the fourth quarter I mean and then and that was on the streets really so I'm happy for Frank I mean Frank's done it before Frank's been all over the place he knows what he's doing um you know I just wish the owners would would have a little bit more patience and uh you know that's a great situation for him down there I mean they'll get a Young quarterback in there and you know he'll turn that thing around real quick they've got good defensive players and you know Frank understands the importance to surrounding yourself with a good staff and he had it largely he had a good staff up in Indy you know when he was escorted out the door so and then that brings in it brings up Andy for that matter I don't I've not heard anything I don't know what they're doing up there what's the longest interview you set in um you know just as head coaches and if you were interviewing any time in your career what was the longest interview you had to sit through oh gosh maybe um I mean I sat I interviewed with Floyd Reese for like three weeks so okay off and on I mean I was interim but you know we just hung out every day and talked about and then all of a sudden yeah it was going to work but so the reports are like they're having a third round of interviews in Indy and some are some of them are lasting the third round are lasting up to 12 hours plus uh I don't know I mean I that's unusual it's highly unusual I mean you yeah it is I mean especially if you're being asked back for a second in the third year yeah but but you know one can somebody's in his ear you know he's got somebody that's helping him someone's in his ear and they're going to do it this way don't be don't be surprised if there's some kind of um I would say some kind of search firm involved that is working behind the scenes that nobody really wants anything you know out as far as that's concerned I could see that I mean there have been other NFL teams that have hired search firms and not officially search firms but they've had a group of people surrounding the owner that you know I'll have their opinions and they're going to kind of push things and you know because I know that was the case down in Jacksonville before you know before they hired Doug so no the year before Doug um oh Urban Meyer yes so Jeff Fisher in studio with us uh D'Amico Rines the new head coach in Houston back for the organization that he played for and uh look he took over a very talented San Francisco defense right when Robert Sala became the head coach of the Jets and credit to him young up and coming great leader what's he entering in Houston that I think we're taking for granted with what he had in San Francisco well I mean you just stayed the obvious the there's a huge difference in the ability level based on the defenses and so you know this is what it comes down to it comes down to ownership giving him the opportunity to build that team a a reasonable opportunity of four to five years and build that team and build it right he's going to have to work with the GM there and they're going to have to make the right decisions but he's got to be given that opportunity you can't expect him um you know that's coordinated for a with a really good group of defensive players to to have the same outcome uh next year it's going to take him a while in addition to it's going to take him years to figure out how to be a head coach it's going to take him time to to learn how to manage games and so on so forth I mean you know there's a big difference between coordinating defense and uh and running an organization and and that's where I think you know two things happen guys aren't guys aren't equipped to do it or they're not as they're learning they're not giving the time given the time to figure out how to do it and so you know there's a lot of good coaches out there that can coach good players and um you know it what what what's the The Telltale sign is how can you build a team and build it as quickly as you can with the uh with the this number one goal being uh to sustain you have to be able to sustain year and year out what did you make of the whole magic show in New England this year where we didn't know who was the coordinator of the offense the defense and who was calling plays on either side and there's a lot of mystery surrounding it but now they get to bring back Bill O'Brien to be offensive coordinator and that long history between him and Bill Belichick how much of a help is that going to be for that team well I think it's going to be a settling factor for bill um I mean for both I mean Bill O'Brien is obviously very good at what he does he because he was such a good coordinator he got an opportunity to become a head coach and then you you know obviously what he did for Nick down in Alabama is really impressive so you know I'm happy for him I'm happy for for Bill uh Belichick too because he's got his guy's back and if Matt ends up going over and helping his son on the defensive side and you got O'Brien there and you got an up-and-coming quarterback you got a a contender all over again do you ever move uh defensive coaches to offense like that uh no not no that doesn't not over on off season yeah well but there's a there's also that thing there's that stigma you know well this guy's a defensive guy okay so I was always referred to as a defensive minded head coach but also what did I do for all those years as a defensive coordinator and all that stuff what do you do you defend offenses so you can make a case that we know about it much if not more than offensive coordinators know about offense and what it's supposed to look like and how it's supposed to work so you know the you know the Patriots got what within a game or two of making the playoffs again yeah and a real competitive division yeah with the staff doing things that they weren't normally used to doing I'd say that's pretty impressed those are pretty impressive coaches on that staff you hear this so much and all these hires are being made but about different people um Nick sariani is one of them other coaches that were around him would say I knew he was going to be a head coach one day I knew he had head coach potential in him is that something that's easy to see when you work around someone when you're a head coach and someone's working for you that you can clearly see okay this guy's gonna be a head coach one day and did someone ever say that about you when you were working on a staff where they came back later and say yeah I knew you were going to be a head coach in the NFL you know you hear it from time and time again but usually it's after you're well on your way and people will say that the one thing about Philly and what Nick what Nick did was he took over a loaded team he took over a very talented team yeah it it you know it slipped and stumbled along the way under Doug but it wasn't it wasn't just uh you know the team's roster wasn't devastated you know and so he was able to do that and then you get the quarterback play and the experience and good coaches and a division that's uh highly competitive and so he's much deserving of of the credit there but he did in a quick part in a short time takeover and elevate a talented team obviously the Super Bowl and he should be you know commended and and regard as one of the top coaches in in the in the league right now their defense man 78 sacks I believe is what they're up to right now in the pass rush best past defense that's credit to their pass rush um when you think of the Mahomes Andy Reid offense Jeff what what must they do other than just protect the quarterback what do they have to do to beat Philly on Sunday well I mean you know you're gonna have to run the football you're gonna have to do you know which they're not known for and they're not known they're not known for that but that's one way to shut down the rush and it doesn't mean you got to like 10 years back and go right at them you can run draws and you can you know do stuff like that just to slow it down but they're going to have to they're going to have to get them out of what the defense does best and that's rush the passer and play pass defense they've been now keep this in mind also those statistics are there because this offense has scored a lot of points over the over the year and they're you know they're you know they're playing you know with the lead and teams are playing catch-up and they're just I mean there's no there's no more fun on defense than to than to get out there and protect the lead and rush to pass it when you absolutely have you when you don't have to read Runner pass when you just roll off and go and that's what they've done so Andy and you'll figure it out he's done it he does it ever you know it seems to do it every year it looks like you know Patrick's going to be all right and you know it's going to be a great ballgame I hope for for for all of our sake that it's not a six to three game I hope it's one of those you know it doesn't feel like it's going to be but I mean who knows yeah you know it's hard especially with the two weeks and anything can happen Jeff Fisher in studio with us uh Chad you've watched the 30 for 30 right yeah that was always a Baltimore and um there's a lot of uh Jeff fisher-led Titans uh content in this documentary but really it just took me back to an Era coach of just uh I mean the game was different then and we're talking about the year 2000 but some of the hits on the quarterbacks and the physicality uh the fact that the Ravens were holding teams to 79 yards of total offense for an entire game it was just a different era that's what jumped to my mind when watches I I think you're going to enjoy it when you get a chance to see it but uh it really brought me back to an Era that you're very familiar with in the NFL well it was um you know it was a great few years you know the 99 season then the 2000 or 2000 season oh one we kind of stumbled with injuries and things but we bounced back you know in O2 with a championship game loss and then 0-3 with a loss to New England in the divisional playoffs so you know we were winning a lot of games at that point um you guys did on break bring up the fact that um coach billik was boasting a little bit about the fact that they awarded us our first loss in franchise history in the new state right so yes and they actually I think it was the first two losses came to them because we had a uh this regular season loss and then we had the playoff loss so you know if we lost two games over two years including playoff games at home that's a pretty good run but they always have bragging rights because they got the ring uh in the 2000 season and we didn't but um it was uh it was always a great matchup you know Ray and Eddie and the McAllister and the receivers and whoever's playing quarterback for him and who was the quarterback in 2 thousand for them it started with Tony Banks yeah and then went to Trent Dilfer okay Trent Dilfer he Trent was uh Trent used to work here in Nashville didn't he yeah yeah UAB Trent's a good man um he's going to be a successful coach that was uh that was a a great matchup um that year especially 2000 you know we went in you know we went in with the best record uh had a week off and you know blocked two punts in the game and it just sometimes things don't work out for you and I don't think Trent had a first down in the second half and they won the game and then they go ahead and beat the Giants in the Super Bowl who we handled pretty easily early in the season as well but I'm looking forward to watching it to bring back some memories those are great matchups and you know I you know you start talking about Baltimore and then you can't you can't help but start thinking about the things the great things a great matchups we had with Pittsburgh yeah and so my another takeaway with all this and maybe I'm overlooking some things that are relevant now but players coaches everyone gets along now in the league there is no more hate there's no more you know I'm not speaking to this guy or uh I'm definitely not going up to this guy after the game everyone's swapping jerseys now after the game win or lose I don't get the sense that there was uh love Lost based on the way that the Ravens come across in this in this 30 for 30 about the Titans you know it wasn't that I mean we were we weren't into that you know I mean they wanted and they they had every right to to boast and you know that was how they got fired up ready to play that's fine that was Brian's Mo that was fun I didn't never had anything personal against Brian I mean you know he's a good coach and he's he's coaching uh he's coaching a good football team that's hard to beat but um no I would agree with you I think there's a lot more there's a lot not that there was disrespect it just he didn't go out of your way to you know to love on your neighbor you know if you will but I don't know what 30 for 30 in 20 years looking back on this season right I don't know what you're going to talk trash about about the other team anymore yeah I mean trust me there's uh you can you can dream up a lot of stuff for over 20 years and fabricate a lot of stuff so uh who knows it'll be interesting to see yeah Chad they bought every player in Philly that's I mean okay uh well some of it sounds like exaggeration I will say like watching the first you know 30 45 minutes of it I'm thinking is all of this true are we sure about that it starts with this celebration of the team so they keep cutting back and forth they had some Amphitheater up in Baltimore where they brought back the key players and coaches from the team and they're doing a q a in front of a bunch of fans so that's a big part of it also so there's a lot of Storytelling that goes along with it so bringing up the Ravens doesn't get Fisher fired up what what does is the NFL is rigged group section that's out there Jeff your thoughts on the response from just the the section of the public that wants to throw this out there now we're going to have later there have been some really funny responses what people have leaned into it uh joking like tongue-in-cheek responses on the rigged nature of it but with your officiating background on the NFL officiating committee the rules committee and just knowing the overall uh Silence of the league when it comes to officiating your your reaction when you hear uh game was rigged it's over they wanted Kansas City to win that game it's absolutely absurd you know I mean I don't know him it was that was that the Houston Texans former running back that said I was just yeah vaguely you know was brought to myself but he's he's joking he's joking yeah he's joking around about it oh that's fine if he jokes around he's following the script he says okay well then let people know that you're joking around about it it's it's physically impossible I mean you got you what you do you have that human element in officiating that it's there and I hope it never leaves you're seeing you're seeing signs of it leaving when you know when one official when a referee is is trying to make an announcement on a penalty enforcement and somebody's talking to him in his ear well that's coming from New York that bothers me a little bit but it's not there's no nothing coming down from from Park Avenue or New York or officiating on who's supposed to win this and who's not that's absolutely ridiculous now um there we've seen rules change because of things that have happened in in games where you know I mean it was uh who was it was it Minnesota it was Minnesota yeah so now they decide that oh we're gonna we're gonna make pass interference reviewable which and which was an absolute nightmare that had no chance of being successful but they're they try to do things like that on a yearly basis but you know as far as competitiveness absolutely not every single owner out there is extremely competitive if they weren't the the others would they would weed them out you know they all want to win so uh and then you know that with respect to you know New York and the fishing department they're doing the best they can I I personally don't think they get enough credit because their jobs becoming so hard Jeff Fisher has been our guest you got something quick on the way out uh something we can talk about okay Affair that I want to ask you about then we can take it on air but not fair enough I want to get his answer off air to this uh fish we're headed to Arizona for the Super Bowl if you want to join us uh clay will will be with us tomorrow as we head out to uh Clay's pan yeah you guys driving uh no not be driving we will not be driving okay we will be flying he wants to drive so he can bring the dogs there you go okay thank you for coming in thanks for having me again and look forward to doing it soon yeah absolutely uh he will be no stranger to out kick and fox and what we're doing without kick 360. Jeff Fisher has been our guest in studio uh also uh speaking of working for Fox Tom Brady does now officially but when he'll tell you next and I'll kick 360. eyewitness you know Dennis Price and sea spray and all these people just do such amazing things and we continue to get asked uh about the from about Afghanistan and what we didn't do in Ukraine like why would you like Beyond disease is no-brainer what I would go help with disease why would we continue to help these people and uh you know I think the easy answer is it's the right thing to do like I mean when the government's to the world failed completely failed including our own uh it was very discouraging but was what one we hope was to see that when the governments of the world failed good people stood up and did what the governments wouldn't do and couldn't probably do and and did the right thing and that was really encouraging for me because I had you know I think all of us kind of struggle with hope in our country right now because of the political divide and things that we don't agree with but it was really hopeful to see that when the governments don't do the right thing people do and uh and you know one of the things myself and sea spray were asking this in this interview is uh you know why would you do it and of course we said because there's the right thing to do but sea spray was asked a question I think it's important to get all learned from he was asked was it worth it was it worth it and he said it doesn't have to be um it doesn't have to be worth it to do the right thing and uh whether it's something like this or in your personal lives like I think we all have the ability to do the right thing and our own little spheres of our life and uh and we always try to balance the ROI like what are we gonna get out of it was to return our investment but it doesn't always have to be worth it to do the right thing and in this case you know I don't know if it was worth it or not I thought it was worth it to Aziz and his family and the 17 000 Afghans and I believe that burn guy put in our heart you know I think it was worth it to God to for us to be obedient and go do that call but I think I think the world could learn something from from this there is hope that people will there's good people around them will stand up do the right things people that supported us we're not people that typically agree with there's a lot of people that follow me on Instagram that hate me and Bash me for my conservative abuse and stuff like that but they were they were writing me like hey I don't like you but what you're doing is awesome and where can I support where can I get money and uh it was so cool that we had this Jewish organization that they wanted to pay for two planes which was like 1.5 million dollars big donation and they called me back and they said hey we tried to make the donation but we can't do it and I was like oh wow did I give you the wrong routing number or something they said no we're a Jewish organization and mighty Oaks Foundation my Foundation is a Christian organization and we can't give you that money and I said okay but you do realize we'll rescuing Muslims right we're kind of laughing and uh move forward and they made that donation it was an amazing moment in time where politics religion like nothing else mattered besides good people standing up and do the right thing for other people and uh and it'll always be like just super special to me to have been part of that yeah no I mean it's it's the whole thing and like I said to the audience go ahead and get the book saving disease you can get it anywhere you want to get books it's an incredible story and I think it's something young people especially should learn about and everyone because it does go to show that there's good people you know everyone wants to beat each other's throats these days that's kind of what the media teaches you to do hate each other everyone's a villain if you disagree you have to hate not true not true at all so I think your story is is you know represents that that you can a lot of good out there now on the Ukraine because I do want to talk about this because this is the war is ongoing what was your experience when it comes to the situation Ukraine well it's changed it's changed since I began you know I started in February uh we had sea sprayers on the ground before The Invasion because we knew it was coming we were watching it unfold and uh and then I went immediately after the invasion I went I was in Ukraine you know days after the invasion and originally we went there to see you know hey how can we how can we help um Afghanistan different people couldn't go into Afghanistan and load up massive amounts of people to get them out we were able to do that Ukraine people could drive a bus across the border open the door load it up and get people out so the mass evacs were not something we needed to do and you know one of the things about Special Operations is you do what's special you do what other people can't [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] Brady done with football he's in the theater near you with 80 for Brady and he's on with Colin Cowherd where he says he doesn't expect to join the fox broadcast Booth this year career and I think for me I want to be great at what I do and even you know talking even last week with the people at Fox Sports you know and and the leadership there allowing me to start you know my fox opportunity in in the fall of 2024 something that's great for me so take some time to really learn become great at what I want to do become great at you know thinking about the opportunity and making sure I don't rush into anything I think when people really bet on me I think one thing about my career whether I was when I was drafted by the Patriots or sign up for free agency with the Bucks I wanted to be you know fully committed and I never wanted to let people down I think my biggest motivator was that so you know even in the future I want to be great at what I do and that always takes some time and strategizing and learning and growing and evolving and I have so many people to rely on that um kids support me in that group too so it's going to be a good great opportunity for me to take some time to really uh certainly become at my fox broadcasting job which I'm really looking forward to but also catching up on other parts of my life that uh need some need some time and energy There's Tom Brady with Colin Cowherd earlier yeah I think that's a smart move by Tom Brady to take that time and decide you know ultimately how he's going to start with Fox and he's talking about how he wants to get better and to not let anyone down I think all those things were smart and just in general I mean the guy's been playing football his entire life for the most part you know to take a year to not jump right back into it after one offseason to calling games next year is just smart for him I mean he's got the money he's got the opportunity to spend time with his kids and his family uh he's got the opportunity to do some other things that interest him business-wise makes a lot of sense to take this year off and then start with fox in 2024. do you see where he was he modeled like the the models of his Brady brand I did see that because he made some bet that if he got to so many likes he would like try to model the clothes the same way yeah he's in a pair of just underwear what looks like uh tidy whities but they're maroon is what I saw it's like the the underwear but maroon yeah I saw that look constantly selling the guy is going to be able to do whatever you want anything that he wants so if he's going to do this with Fox might as well take a year to do what he wants while also getting better as a broadcaster to know how he wants to come across what he wants to do so he's at Tip-Top shape for his broadcasting game when you start it's just it's it's a different scenario so everything is kind of uh unprecedented when he signed that contract while playing that prom that promissory note essentially to say I'm going to be the fox lead broadcaster whenever I start so all of it's new well and it's great for uh Burkhart and Olson who have done a tremendous job they'll be on the call for the Super Bowl this year of course CBS has it next year and then the following season I say next year following the 2023 season then the following season is when Brady is saying that he's focused on stepping in to begin the 10-year run 37.5 million yeah it's going to be interesting to see what happens uh we know what burkhart's going to be doing the games are Braden but what happens with Greg Olsen when Tom Brady comes on board I don't know his contacts and change yeah but um you know what where he's going to end up going or just staying at Fox and doing different games we have some of the best NFL is rigged quote unquote script memes and jokes and tongue-in-cheek posts that's all coming up in hour number three but we'll kick off the hour with former Gators and Bulldogs head coach Dan Mullen who joins us in about five minutes join us with Coach Mullen next on outkick 360. college football's in trouble there's a lot of people trying to keep it from happening I think it's a general consensus across the college football landscape we want to play football college football is a huge part of the Fall it's a huge part of Americana itself it just really felt like people in the country needed college football to just feel a little sense of normal big news from the Big Ten as the conference releasing its 10-game football schedule we go home thinking there's going back to the next day everybody gets a text stay home everything's canceled Big Ten fall football season has been canceled we just believe collectively there's too much uncertainty I guess what I'm trying to understand though Kevin is that was the same position you had six days ago big tent is an unmitigated disaster there was a ton of confusion there was Presidents saying one thing there was coaches saying another players had to be silent coaches had to be silent ads had to be some people said how does what you just did make any sense and nobody really knew what the heck happened when they voted to cancel the season you make this huge historical announcement and then Kevin Warren never does a press conference to explain it it was like a master class and how not to handle a crisis the word really that was lacking in all this is transparency it felt like a lot of stuff was happening doors even today we still don't know what occurred so you don't tell us parents that's fine but you're not telling the young men that it affects we have to make a decision to save the season what about the history books what about the rivalry games what about Paul Bunyan's acts how is that not going to go to a team this year this is a failure of Epic magnitude the Big Ten presidents and leaders should be held accountable for the disastrous decisions that they're making then the commissioner doubles down saying his decision will not be Revisited and that's the point it felt like a war was declared on the Big Ten and Kevin Warren everything this is medical then you would have stopped the game of football a long time ago I think the big ten leaders will tell you that they probably made a mistake in hindsight if I had the chance to do it all over last year um I would I would do make the same decisions that we made foreign [Music] [Music] foreign foreign [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] just like that the final hour is here of the Monday Edition glad you're with us as we broadcast live in Music City and across the outkick network with Rowan Hutton with you and Chad we uh here in Nashville we are back tomorrow and then we are live on radio throughout the week four more hours of outkick 360 in Nashville and then we are in the desert from literally and figuratively from Wednesday through Friday on the show we will be in the desert at the Super Bowl looking forward to it always a lot of fun we'll have a lot of great guests for you those three days on the show okay wait recapped a bit of the the headlines from the week it included the Pro Bowl which was about what you would expect uh Chad they always have great viewership for that but also the the storyline with Aaron Rodgers and he's he's not trying to hide the fact that he's interested in the Raiders he keeps mentioning the team and so does Devonte Adam speaking of uh viewers we did get the numbers 80 for Brady finished second the box office 12.5 million uh at the box office okay so that's half of their budget knock at the cabin door was 14.5 number one uh 80 for Brady beat Avatar to the way of water this week they were third what an upset so you know that's that's not all bad still have not still have not heard of any from anyone who's actually seen Avatar but it made two billion dollars people watched it just not anyone we knew Dan Mullen joins us former Florida Gators and Mississippi State head coach now broadcaster uh joins us on out kick 360 talk a little ball here with with Coach Mont first off thank you for the time hope things are well the last time you and I uh and Chad were in person uh was at the Opryland hotel at a coach's convention in Nashville it's been a while you're the coach of Mississippi State at the time in fact yeah and uh and at the time Dan we were talking in person about the Rams opening about you getting to the NFL and a couple weeks ago where is mullen's name and all of these coaching searches are you enjoying the the television aspect so much that you know nil and everything else is just not worth it you know I really am I think uh you know you never say never uh with going back to coaching and uh you know possibly the NFL and uh at that level but I've really enjoyed the TV side of things I really enjoyed the the lifestyle it brings you're still involved in the game and uh you know what it was new it was exciting for me this year I had a great time and uh it's something I want to try to continue to improve on I I had a lot of great experiences with the opportunity to be in studio to call some games um to be at the championship game and some shows on set and it was a lot of fun it was just a uh a whole different world and something that was a lot of fun to try and um but you know we'll see what the future holds you never know what it'll hold in the end now you did a really good job on television this season also um but you know you know a lot of people obviously in coaching and some that are out of it some that are still in it do you sense a lot of fatigue uh with the current state of college coaching within IL and transfer portal and everything with coaches currently in the profession or is it not as big of a driving force away from it that maybe we in the media might think I think there's some I think you know fatigue's not not maybe not the exact thing I do think it does wear you out wear you down and talking to some of the coaches uh that I know and that that are out there they just the uncertainty of they don't know they love exactly where the game's at and you look at what a lot of people you know the great rewards of coaching were helping young people develop and you you know you have this this young guy you go recruit out of high school and he comes to your school and you know you get a degree and you develop them and you know they go from you know not maybe a highly rated recruit then they leave when they get a degree they're going to get a great job start a business start a career become a doctor become lawyers uh whatever it is they're going to do go into the NFL uh and have the opportunity to play pro and I think a lot of that uh has changed I think you can see the change coming I think one of the things the coaches are frustrated about that I've talked to and even I know is you saw the change coming a couple years ago and the NCAA and a lot of people just kind of wanted to bury their head in the sand about it and said we really don't want to listen to what the coaches have to say about it you know we want all the players need their rights and and yes and I think that they missed the boat on the coaches were on the player side I don't know if you'd ever talk to coaches and think hey we want to give the players as much as they can get what's the best way to either give them money to get them paid to find different ways to give them more and you know I mean the original one the NCAA was I remember you go back a couple years ago they can have Bagels you know I'm like okay I can have a bagel after workout we're like okay that that's that that's a step but not really where we want to go bad so I think I think a lot of the frustration brewed from that and that it's changing a lot of things and it's changing a lot of things that guys loved about coaching and developing players into more of this kind of a free agent system but as always coaches have kind of always had to adapt to the roles that are given them and I think that's what they're they're starting to do now so coach if we if we saw this on the horizon before it actually happened uh the coaches behind the scenes definitely did as you're mentioning what is on the horizon now where are we headed that's inevitable are we are we headed towards a union are we headed towards uh contracts like what what's the next phase of this that no one's talking about yet well I I think the issue is is everybody wants to talk about the problems but no one has the solution so I think a couple years ago when it when it came up you know with the coaches with nil I remember being a meeting with the NCAA and saying hey it's 100 gonna be about recruiting and they're like no have nothing to do with recruiting it's only really going to be about players that you know have value to their name and can sign contracts and I mean you just sit there and shake your head and like you're kidding me the whole thing's recruiting based you know I mean the the coaches are going to look for a way to utilize this so um I I think that the the issue is and I'm not an attorney on this one is finding the legal answers to go and fix the problem you know and so you can sit there and say let the players unionize we're going to contract and put you under contract it still brings no balance if they're still naming likeness beyond that uh because you know you sit there and say okay here's your salary cap for players or what set they just have guys boosters say well we're going to get you another contract out there with endorsing a product so um I don't know the one solution maybe you go to unionize the players there's a salary cap that's agreed upon within that to give the universities a little bit more control they own the player's name image and likeness rights under that contract so that they can go back and sell the endorsements to go pay for these contracts um and raise money but then all of a sudden the endorsement money goes back to then the schools uh and they don't have the ability to go create endorsements for themselves beyond that that could bring a balance I don't know the legality of that or uh or who you could get to agree to that uh you know because I I think you see it when you when you look at the NFL there's a great salary cap but um you know players going and negotiate their own contracts beyond that uh for their endorsements but you know that's big money and you know what NFL teams aren't going to sit there and they they legally can't find ways to pay you more where boosters probably still could you know the NFL teams don't have boosters to go kind of beat the salary cap to get you to play for a team your successor at Mississippi state was Mike Leach um we obviously lost him uh recently what was he like to deal with whether it be at SEC coaches meetings or any other time you were around him there's all these great stories about Mike Leach the person but what was your interaction with him like especially as someone who took over a job after you left it yeah I think well there was a gap in between uh between he and I but uh indeed and you know and talking with Mike in SEC meetings and and getting there was kind of interesting I think his first year was um I was only in there I think two years with him in SEC meetings and his first year was kind of a adapting to the league and it was Zoom meetings and and you know nothing in person so uh his personality doesn't come out sometimes when it's just the zoom meeting there's actually almost me laughing because it's a zoom meeting he sent a desk I'm like hey that was my desk like I'm almost like I used to sit at that desk like but like kind of goofy things that way and uh you know and but I I always thought he was great I think after the after he got a little adapted to the league and what it was all about uh I think he's extremely intelligent extremely insightful when it came to the game and she you know looked at what was good for the game he had his own unique way of doing things um I think one of the things he brought to the table was that it wasn't there's not just one way to do something you'd be successful a lot of different ways uh he had his way he believed in it but he was always a thinker and trying to learn other people's ways and thoughts and ideas not that he was going to maybe incorporated into what he was doing but just to go learn it and uh and that way I had a great time we got to go back I was in Starkville last summer where they're visiting friends uh we were out at a dinner and one of the guys that was a you know a a booster there said hey I'm having some people over Coach why don't you stop by and Mike said if you're going to come by he'll stop by so we've got to go hang out for a little bit at this one guy's house and uh everybody's in the backyard Rocky Felker another Mississippi State head coach came by it was kind of a great time just telling stories Mike's Mike's such a great Storyteller such a great guy to be around and a fun guy and he and he can you know he can talk about it love is talking about football but he really can talk about any subject and uh you know I think it's great when you have the the coaches around that were around other people because we're all sharing stories about football how we did things and what we did and how they're a little bit different it was and uh I don't think I've ever had a bad night hanging out with Mike Dan Mullen Our Guest on outkick 360. uh your your relationship with Dak Prescott is well documented um even going back through the the year he was franchise tagged I believe even after Mississippi State in his early career with with Dallas coach he uh the story was you picked up the phone you called him whenever he dislocated his ankle I believe it was and he was out for a while yeah and that was rough what he gets hurt early on this past season and comes back Dallas is one of the top teams in the league but there's still just something missing there what what needs to happen for Prescott to reach the full potential in the NFL I think I think the big one you know and unfortunately I got to go out to see one of the games this year my son and I went out to go see him playing this game he got hurt it was right at the beginning of the season and uh and hurt his thumb and I knew it you know that was a tough one because it was on his throwing hand um so I don't know you know with something like that uh he wants to get back he wants to get on the field and play he's such a competitor uh you know and that's one of those deals in gripping a football I I don't know for sure I haven't asked him or talked to him about it I just always tell them hey you know make sure you get yourself healthy get back and I know you're going to get yourself back but uh I don't know if he was ever really 100 again the whole season with something like that you know it's just something that kind of Nags and it's still there for him uh throughout the year one of the things I think and he's such a great leader and and wants to and he makes everybody else around him better I think you know when you look at it though the NFL is a tough league and the NFL's set for balance and uh you know and there's windows and and I think you know a lot of times you you look and uh you know I'm not in the locker room I'm not there every day with him and everything going on and and I think they really at times um could use another weapon maybe on the outside form I you know I always looked at football this way here's a great way to look at teams um and you got to figure it out and especially if you want to win a championship how are you going to score touchdowns right I mean you can have great players but who can score touchdowns on your team um and you know you go look at the Super Bowl coming up here this weekend you can name a bunch of guys on each team that can score a touchdown and and I don't mean from the two yard line you know it's because it's it's awful hard to go drive the ball the tighter you get to the goal line the harder it is to score and any great offensive team that I've been on has guys that can score touchdowns so um I was looking at Cowboys you know and you get to watch them and I watch Dak and and all of a sudden the NFL you get you get a guy hurt like they got that Tony Pollard gets banged up he's the guy that just score touchdowns from him from further away and you know when in the NFL you don't have a lot of those guys you look at Great college teams they have guys that can score touchdowns and you know and not you know because it's hard to go on 12 Play drives up and down the field against Great teams so at some point you're gonna need that and I think it'll be interesting to see um in the NFL a lot of times you know that people always ask me what about this team 19 like all right we'll start with you know we'd always start our meetings every year let's put up the build our offense what do we want to be Ron throw Tempo no Tempo all those things let's put up on the board who can score touchdowns for us and then we'll build it off of those guys because we need to make sure they get the ball in the hands to see if they can get the answer yeah and Chad in in Philly's case it seems like they're they're depth they've got guys on their depth chart that can do that you know you see that in college but not NFL you said everybody you know you cannot defensive coaches can take guys out of games I I if you have one guy that can score for the most part you can kind of try to take them that one guy out of the game that might not always happen but you know I mean you're gonna sit there and say okay I'm gonna eliminate this guy from a game now if you don't have anybody else that can score um I look at both these these things you know I mean you can put put uh AJ Brown's over there he can score a touchdown then then um Devonte Smith can score for the Eagles and then the the tight end got her he can score and Jalen hurts can score um you go to the Chiefs and you better stop Kelsey and if you stop Kelsey though all of a sudden the Holmes if he's healthy can run around but if even if he's not they do Andy Reed does such a good job of having weapons on the field you know they you look at their team and it's like they might not be a pure ex-receiver or a h receiver but they have these weapons and he puts all of them in different positions that you know I could Aris Tony play for me that's playing for the uh for the Chiefs you put the ball in his hands and he can score a touchdown and uh you know and so I think I think Andy does such a good job as good as maybe anybody in football or probably the best in football of putting those guys in positions to score him so I'm excited I have seven guys that played for me playing in the Super Bowl so it's gonna be funny that's really cool uh but going by your plan though about you know good coach can say if you got one guy who can score you can take that away um the eagles they have great depth obviously they don't really have a weakness in any spot offense or defense but if you're gonna try to implement that plan do you try to do it against the Chiefs given Kelsey and then a drop off to everyone else on that roster outside of my homes or is that still difficult because of what you said about Andy Reid and how he's going to get other guys the ball you know I I still think you're the the starting point is trying to take Kelsey away the grade the hardest thing though when you play the Chiefs that Andy does is it's like finding a wall like where's Waldo you know I mean they're gonna play every he's going to play every different position on the field and it gets a little harder schematically because all right he's in the backfield oh he's playing X receiver now he's in the slot now he's at tight end and they move him around and the structure of your defense sometimes can get out of kind of out of whack you know okay hey we're gonna double this guy but now he's in the tight end position and we just left their number one receiver all by himself out there so um you know now the benefit you know the the Eagles are going to have is sit there and say okay well we're going to use our safeties and linebackers we're gonna have a plan for Kelsey and then we're gonna go take our Corners big play slay and we're gonna go we're gonna go now he's gonna go eliminate another receiver we're going to say he can eliminate a receiver we're going to combo Kelsey on the inside and then let the next guy try to beat us and you know that that's kind of how the best way to do it if you better have some talent and depth to eliminate players how will you watch the game given that you have seven former players playing in this game what is the Dan Mullen plan to watch the Super Bowl you know I I root for my guys so you know what it's always kind of tricky so like you know I mean um right when when the uh the Chiefs have the ball I'll root for Canary's Tony but you know I mean I got a bunch of guys on the Eagles defense so I want to see Fletcher Cox go out there make a bunch of plays and slay and and uh you know go out there and and CJ Gardner Johnson the defense of the Eagles I got I got a couple guys over there then you go in and the Chiefs run on the pit on Bruno probably a lot more for defense which is weird as an offense because then you know they got Chris Jones and and Willie gay out there and Tommy towns it's punting uh for the Chiefs so and then um then I'll like scour the guys because I think that three out of three more guys that are in practice squads on the team so I'll be like looking at the sidelines just to see them on the sidelines uh for the guys so you just kind of got get guys and then obviously you know I think Brian you look at the one of the Eagles the huge Resurgence what Jalen hurts has done was Brian Johnson who played for him it was my offensive coordinator it's the quarterback coaching out for the Eagles and you look at what he's been able to do in helping um you know develop Jalen hurts and implement the things you know so I'll I'll be like watching and I'll laugh and it you know he'll call me and then I'll just say hey that was a staple and our offense he goes you know he'll be like yep we put that in we put this in and some of the things held Jalen hurts out a lot so um always look for him on the sidelines so it'll be uh the nice thing is at the end of the game there's gonna be people I'm gonna be really happy Dan Mullen has been our guest and who knows uh maybe uh future head coach by the time you join us again I hope not I hope it's sooner rather than later I hope you're coaching again I keep coming on on this like broadcasting deal though like oh like you know yeah his top analysts or games or whatever it is uh you know what like you guys do you guys are out here you enjoy it you enjoy talking Sports without some of the craziness you're involved in it you're in the game you're around it all the time maybe without some of the uh the drama I do miss I am coaching a little bit of helping the high school team out here locally so I uh I get my I get a little fix getting out there coaching up some of the high schoolers so you're doing just enough right to where you don't miss it so much that you're jumping right back in well as my wife says my son's out there playing now and I you know I would have never got to see him play so I'm out there you know she's like you really need to be on the sidelines because I'm pacing around I you know I the uh now that you're kind of out of it like coach coaches watching their kids are like a special animal like you just we they need like a glass box for us in the end zone of games just because we're like a music of pacing and we know what's going on and you're like you know you don't want to like be a distraction but you're yelling out you know like hey everyone how do you throw this you know like this like you just I'm chewing on my water bottle try not to say stuff just like uh do you feel like coach says a lot of fun do you feel like you're in a spot now though where you can be pretty picky in terms of opportunity when coaching when whenever you're ready to coach again if it's the time that you can kind of sit back and wait on the right opportunity yeah well I don't know I you know I it's tough because like the right opportunity might not if I'm ready might not the right opportunity might not be there I think timing's a lot of things that are out there and you know I don't know what the right opportunity would be there's so many great opportunities and so and you know a lot of coaching and it's what you make of it uh you know I I thought you know a lot of people were scratching their head when I went to Starkville and I stayed there for a long time and I I loved I loved being the head coach of Mississippi State I love the community I love I love the Mississippi State fan base and everybody there and everything about it and uh it just was the place I wanted to be there were opportunities a lot when I was there and I just never felt ready to take one and uh when the Florida opportunity came around I I thought you know what I I thought I'd done an awful lot for Mississippi State and I was ready for a different Challenge and I'm you know I thought you know they're baby ready for somebody new at this point you know and you get the you could stay there forever you could do this and but you know what I thought in college football everybody you know the the today's world everybody gets a little bit bored of you right I had somebody tell me once you know you get your first year you get a grace period coaching maybe two years you know then you kind of annoy ten percent of the fan base every year after that so I mean I was a Mississippi State for nine years about 80 of them are about fed up with me at that point you know uh the uh but you know you get opportunities to go do that and go before and so we'll see you know I think a lot of it I'm enjoying time with my family um I do I really enjoy the TV side of things and I want to see where that takes me and all of a sudden like anything you know I guess as a coach I'm a competitor and you know I'm coaching you want to go out there every week you want to be the best I want to try to be the best I can be on the broadcasting side now and um see if I can continue to improve I you know I'm excited this off season get to spend with some you know being on ESPN to spend some time with people on ESPN and say take me through what I did well take me through what I did poorly how am I getting better uh you know if I get if I'm gonna be what am I going to be doing and how do I do those things better uh to perform at a higher level and it's just kind of how I was raised and brought up and that's that's what I'm going to look at doing this spring follow them on social at coach Dan Mullen thanks so much for the visit always great and hopefully we'll do it again soon yeah anytime sounds great to be with you guys have a great time enjoy the Super Bowl this week it's the saddest thing about the Super Bowl I think when the game ends it's like oh my goodness there's no more football until the countdown is on until it's a long I mean it's a long way till we get to watch the football guy just like it's sad at least we have like the usfl and the XFL and some of that stuff coming up and I remember growing up when I was young I loved the uh the uh the original usfl I thought I kind of got into it I gotta try to find a way to get into some of these these spring leagues a little bit oh and then yeah here comes the debate about the quarterbacks too in the draft so I mean that's already starting five NFL draft also and she'll be nice yeah yeah that'll be fun we'll we'll get into that one and break that down so I appreciate you man we'll catch up soon sounds great have a great day all right you too thank you uh always enjoyed our conversations with him yeah and uh this one no different uh very cool dude and I I do hope he's back into coaching soon yeah I remember uh that conversation you referenced at Opryland hotel here in Nashville at the Coaches convention and talking to him then and his you could hear his interest in the NFL oh yeah when he was talking about that as Mississippi State said coach you can hear him talk about the Super Bowl there and it's not difficult to bridge the gap there and say it's got a lot of interest in the NFL I don't know where his next coaching opportunity is going to come but it may be an NFL opportunity at some point for Dan Mullen the script just didn't call for that in the league the scripted what script do you mean the one for White Men Can't Jump no the the NFL is real just follow the script there have been some really funny memes tweets uh videos posts of players former players media members others that have leaned into the NFL scripted examples we've got those for you coming up plus the headlines from Sean Payton's introductory press conference that's next now kick 360. oh crazy because Tom Brady is just a touch older than me I believe now there are no NFL players older than me which that's the first time in my life I can say that okay so now I feel really old now I feel truly and and really old I'm sorry man God that's horrible I didn't know that feeling maybe there's a punter or a kicker I have to check maybe I'm hoping there's like an old like a long time punter kicker a Long Snapper that's older than but I don't think so and it's it's amazing to me thinking about Brady the last few years like and I feel when I wake up in the morning I can't even imagine attempting to play in the NFL like this right yeah I mean it's it well and I don't even know if if last season should have happened but that's not up for me it's not for anybody I I don't have the drive Tom Brady has I'm I'm very willing to admit that right it seemed to me just as an outsider with no inside information whatsoever that he was tired and that he engaged in normal life for the first time in a long time was like yeah this sucks I'm getting back to the NFL I don't like the daycare thing I love my kids I don't like dropping it off I don't want to go play Pickleball at three o'clock in the afternoon like let's get back to to normal but it'd be interesting like do you you know I don't I don't know if we'll see another quarterback take it that far Andy in the NFL like I yeah yeah you got Aaron Rodgers gonna be 39. you got him hinting at retirement now and it does feel like the games maybe take a little more toll on his body than than Brady maybe maybe there's you know yeah that'll fix that but it is it's crazy that that it lasted this long I mean I I think back to how much my life you know I I graduated college in 2000 and you know working my first job watching watching Tom Brady lead the Patriots when they were The Underdogs to the win against the Rams in the Super Bowl and thinking well that's a cool story six round guy you know hope the career works out for him and the the level of winning and just consistency I'm not sure we're gonna see it again no and I and I don't I don't especially with the quarterback who has that tenacity he also puts in everything into the game like it's like he can't take a breather um and it just he has a different workflow you know it kind of reminded me of what Kobe Bryant used to do uh in the NBA well or you can go on and name name one uh yeah but now but but I'm interested to see now you know what that looks like in the future and and does this and I'll ask you this because this news could break while we're down here in Mobile uh Todd monkin Georgia offensive coordinator does this make room for him now to potentially say okay I can go to Tampa we can go find a quarterback that works for me in my system and maybe take over the offensive coordinator position once you what have your thoughts been on the monkey Buccaneer stuff are you just are you ready for sets invented is this the the Buccaneers starting quarterback is are we ready to live in a world where Stetson Bennett it's very interesting because you know Monken I think you know you look at that that tenure with Jameis Winston in Tampa it didn't go as well as anybody would have wanted and maybe monking going well if I had a different quarterback one who didn't put the ball In Harm's Way as as often perhaps that works out [Music] thank you foreign [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] you know most of this I would say is the emotional fan that reacts whenever their team does not have success or the refs the refs screwed us right that immediately jumped on board with the oh this is rigged they wanted the Chiefs to win this game against Cincinnati or you know they the whole process the path for Philadelphia set up for this story with the Eagles but if you actually sit back and look at it like I think the the common sense fan would say you know what they didn't put the Green Bay Packers in in week 18 they put Seattle in so if you're buying into the NFL is rigged you have to also buy into the fact that there are plenty of examples of quote-unquote scripts that the NFL definitely would not have written given the circumstances well and it's also it's just easier mentally to explain to rationalize that someone's out to get you as opposed to the truth which is you just got lucky with a bat unlucky with a bad call or by human error and earlier you didn't make the play or you just yeah your team just didn't do enough to win you know that's that's harder for the fan to rationalize than to just say oh they've got it out for us oh we were on the road so that the refs wanted the hometown team to win oh Roger Goodell wanted this quarterback to advance and that's easier to say and it makes you feel better right when you when you claim that or you hate this owner so it's totally against someone else right um Aryan Foster stirred some stuff up with the comments the tongue-in-cheek stuff with Barstool here here are the initial comments with PFT whenever PFT is asking Foster about the NFL is rigged and receiving a script each year it's funny before we start taping uh Aaron was telling me about how the NFL is rigged and how every year he used to get a script yeah day one of training camp that would get dropped off at his locker and you would have to you know it was like week one you'll do this week two you're gonna have a hamstring entry week three this is gonna happen yeah week four you're gonna get three touchdowns and so then you just have to did you memorize those before the season started would you go and rehearse the script before every game uh we're really dedicated to it so it was more so like um that's what practice was about it was about practicing the script like this is what goes on and this is what we have to do in order to yeah and this referee is going to miss this call yeah because they hate you and they love the Colts yeah that sort of thing uh WWF so it's like yeah we know what's going to happen but you still got put on a show yeah what did you think when you got the script in 2016 that said your career was going to fall off a cliff when you stopped believing in God that was 2015. [Laughter] the macro dosing pod is where you can find that that's uh that's terrific I did that's the funny reaction to everyone that says like oh this this stuff is totally scripted there have been other funny tweets though what did you say to the script yeah did you stop believing in God that your career would fall off a cliff like uh from Eddie Lacy in his off-season diet plan you know just following the script here uh using uh Grand Theft Auto San Andreas and we'll show the Tweet here in just a second I believe a very lengthy fast food order though uh with Eddie Lacy and the the off-season diet plan I'll have two number nines the number nine large a number six with extra dip a number seven two number 45s one with cheese and a large soap I don't play video games but I tore up GTA that was that was my game too that's crazy that once again shutting strikes again that's that's the one game of that era season night plan where he blew up I would love to have that diet plan like let me give me that script any day of the week like I I love food that's terrible for me I mean if there's a scripts like hey blow up by 50 pounds no problem I'll do that for you how long do you need a month two I can do it for you in whatever time you want I can make that happen more from uh the the funny Port parts of of Twitter Rush Hour 2 and Chris Tucker at a massage parlor you win I'm red oh my God this place is off the hook I love Hong Kong you get massage from Chinese girl before no but I heard it was the bomb come with me you pick any girl for you and your friend any girl any girl okay I don't know where to start foreign I'll take that one right there she got to come oh yes she's very nice she is nice but I hurt my back and my neck and I need a little bit more massage you know so I'm gonna take her in the pink too oh yes and let me get her hey baby and then I'm gonna have her can I get her too and her right there right there so you got what the the joke the second joke with Watson right Sean Watson but also Bob but also Bob Kraftwerk said to this too with orchids of Asia yeah Robert Croft if you think he was happy when he got that script right about what he was gonna get pop doing again the the NFL would not script these negative storylines that have dominated off Seasons both of those did and it paints all of all the owners in a bad light it's all about protecting the shield jet it's all about protecting the shield now but those fans who are upset and I rated their team lost they think the protection of the shield includes for whatever reason their team that's one of 32. exactly being out and the other one needs to be in for whatever reason and the NFL is so scripted that here is uh uh in reference to the Lions and they're upset that they've never had a good season they actually have we just saw it good quote unquote for the Lions for the line which includes no playoffs here's Skip Bayless uh yelling at Shannon Shar yeah this is my turn he just you told me it was my turn you've been talking all that you want to do yelling scream yeah it is the game it's my turn the lions always yelling that it's my turn it's my turn it's great if you've got the script from the lines the last 40 years you'd be screaming it's my turn too um we also have the uh I mean again the negative story lines there are fans that will believe that this is all like in the books right honestly fans like conspiracy theorists like Aaron Hernandez oh no well we had you know a guy on our YouTube chat that believes that Demar Hamlin was using a body double that actually believed it it's bizarre here someone's gonna believe this is all real here is a Hernandez training after receiving a script [Music] again just passing on Aryan Foster is getting all of this on Twitter after the tongue-in-cheek segment on this podcast um so a lot of people thought that was real I guess they're in Foster I guess that they read the quotes I don't know how you think that's real well someone probably picked it up and ran it as real and if you just read it like you said print it out then you would think that it was something finally video of Stephen A Smith playing the role of Nick Foles finding out he's going to win Super Bowl MVP what and by the way me they're me [Laughter] oh very well done and we would have had Brock Purdy not get hurt the NFL wins again it would have been a brock party Super Bowl that the NFL would have uh stuck to the original script of what they really wanted so who would be the Nick Foles of Super Bowl MVP stardom this Sunday right like the the guy who would be shocked that it's going to be Gardner minshu because Jalen hurts goes down early in the game oh that's a good injury that's good that would be the exact replica of the Eagles back up quarterback getting it maybe a running back for the Chiefs yeah Pacheco McKinnon yeah uh Jason Kelsey Jason Kelsey Jason Kelly you have to have a stellar performance as a center to with an MVP of the of the Super Bowl you have to be really good in the Run game and protection so Sean Payton said today that that he's not going to allow the staff members of Russell Wilson's training staff the performance team uh in the building this year that was one of the main points of conversation following the introductory press conference Sean Payton today in Denver um when asked about what has been going on the last 12 months I guess physical therapists trainers others that had access had a key card to the Broncos facility on behalf of Russell Wilson that were not a part of the team performance crew staff coaches whatever you want to call them quote from Sean Payton that's foreign to me that's not going to take place here I'm not familiar with it but our staff will be here our players will be here and that'll be it that from Sean Payton that's um that's concerning not not Sean Payton's part of this the Russell Wilson thing I didn't know that he had like a team of coaches around him in Denver also you heard Jeff Fisher say that uh I mean I'm paraphrasing but that he needs to get in better shape that he looked out of shape this year also if I was he was playing a little heavy yeah that he wasn't his Mobility wasn't the same right but I was I mean not good they also like they were also not running the offense that we saw in Seattle that made Russell Wilson successful and that's not all on um you know what was happening with Hackett that could be what Russell Wilson wanted whenever he was traded there right but if you believe the reports that he was helping recruit Sean Payton then Russell Wilson's in on this decision just like Sean Payton's in on this decision you would think yeah I mean well if not then Russell Wilson's in for a rude awakening that the coach he petitioned to get and for the team to trade for is coming in and Wrecking his plans for his personal coaches to be around this screams that Alex Guerrero Tom Brady stuff with Belichick that was a huge divide for them when he was bringing Guerrero around if you remember yeah that was a big problem but away from the facility though like it was it was a separate building he was well that's where the problem started though he was around the facility and Belichick ordered him out and then they started going elsewhere because he needed to work with him so you think Wilson now builds his own facility instead of tb12 you've got he's going to say new facility let's ride let's ride performance Broncos Country this is team Russell Wilson Let's Ride Brian Flores has accepted the Vikings defensive coordinator position he's headed from being a Steeler's assistant to the Vikings defensive coordinator job this per Adam schefter and this is a mere hours after it was mentioned that the Cardinals had narrowed down to three coaches Flores was one of them and Kafka was the other whose uh interviewing for head coaching he interviewed in Indianapolis as well Kafka who left Kansas City to pair up with Brian dabal is now reaping the benefits and success of the giant season it's a lot like Chad uh Matt leflore in Nashville that one year yeah yeah and well I mean that and what a great gig he landed because of that one year in Nashville yeah with Green Bay yeah um well I've got a lot of question marks about that Arizona job it doesn't seem like one that um you know we just talked to Dan Mullen about opportunity and being picky if you have the luxury of being picky at all about a head coaching gig you're not touching Arizona that's the sense I get also they they were mentioning Flores in Denver as well and he chose Minnesota um there were other options available for him too we'll read up on the details of this but this may also mean that he's taking this Arizona's about to name their next head coach I haven't seen that report yet but for Brian he can't win that he's not getting it possibly yeah or yeah they the the they know that they're going in a different direction if not I don't know why you would take a DC job when you're in a lawsuit for being um being used to to uh as an escape as a scapegoat in Miami right like it you would wait on the head coaching position yes yeah well we'll see if Arizona is about to announce something in the next 15 minutes or so uh before wrapping up the show we've got headlines coming up Chad you have a review of 80 for Brady yeah we had the Sterling review from Alejandro Avila on Friday my aunt Mitzi went to the movie for her birthday she did not see knock the cabin door she saw 80 for Brady she did not see Avatar 2 way of water she saw 80 for Brady and she sent me a lengthy text with a review that we will review when we come back that's next and I'll kick 360. I witnessed you know Dennis Price and sea spray and all these people just do such amazing things and we continue to get asked uh about the from about Afghanistan and what we didn't do in Ukraine like why would you like Beyond disease it's no brainer why would go help us why would we continue to help these people and uh you know I think the easy answer is it's the right thing to do like I mean when the government's to the world fail completely failed including our own uh it was very discouraging but was what one we hope was to see that when the governments of the world failed good people stood up and did what the governments wouldn't do and couldn't probably do and and did the right thing and that was really encouraging for me because I had you know I think all of us kind of struggle with hope in our country right now because of the political divide and things that we don't agree with but it was really hopeful to see that when the governments don't do the right thing people do and uh and you know one of the things myself and sea spray were asking this in this interview is uh you know why would you do it and of course we said because there's the right thing to do but sea spray was asked a question I think it's important to get all learned from he was asked was it worth it was it worth it and he said it doesn't have to be um it doesn't have to be worth it to do the right thing and uh whether it's something like this or in your personal lives like I think we all have the ability to do the right thing and our own little spheres of our life and uh and we always try to balance the ROI like what are we gonna get out of it was to return our investment but it doesn't always have to be worth it to do the right thing and in this case you know I don't know if it was worth it or not I thought it was worth it to Aziz and his family and the 17 000 Afghans and I believe that burn guy put in our heart you know I think it was worth it to God to for us to be obedient and go do that call but I think I think the world could learn something from from this that there is hope that people will there's good people around and will stand up do the right things people that have supported us we're not people that typically agree with there's a lot of people that follow me on Instagram that hate me and Bash me for my conservative abuse and stuff like that but they were they were writing me like hey I don't like you but what you're doing is awesome and where can I support where can I get money and uh it was so cool that we had this Jewish organization that they wanted to pay for two planes which was like 1.5 million big donation and they called me back and they said hey we're trying to make the donation but we can't do it and I was like oh wow did I give you the wrong routing number or something they said no we're a Jewish organization and mighty Oaks Foundation my Foundation is a Christian organization and we can't give you that money and I said okay but you do realize we're rescuing Muslims right we're kind of laughed and and uh move forward and they made the donation it was just an amazing moment in time where politics religion like nothing else matters besides good people standing up and do the right thing for other people and uh and it'll always be like just super special to me to have been part of that yeah no I mean it's it's the whole thing and like I said to the audience go ahead and get the book saving disease you can get it anywhere you want to get books it's an incredible story and I think it's something young people especially should learn about and everyone because it does go to show that there's good people you know everyone wants to beat each other's throats these days that's kind of what the media teaches you to do hate each other everyone's a villain if you disagree you have to hate not true not true at all so I think your story is is you know represents that that you can a lot of good out there now on the Ukraine because I do want to talk about this because this is the war is ongoing what was your experience when it comes to the situation Ukraine well it's changed it's changed since I began you know I started in February uh we had sea sprayers on the ground before The Invasion because we knew it was coming we were watching it unfold and uh and then I went immediately after the invasion I went I was in Ukraine you know days after the invasion and originally we went there to see you know hey how can we how can we help um Afghanistan different people couldn't go into Afghanistan and load up Mass amounts of people to get them out we were able to do that Ukraine people could drive a bus across the border open the door load it up and get people out so the mass evacs were not something we needed to do and you know we wanted to think about Special Operations is you do what's special you do and other people can't [Music] thank you [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign AJ Green who played for the Cardinals and Bengals has announced his retirement today I'll kick 360 rolls on nice little career for old AJ yeah 34 years old played 11 Seasons fourth overall in the 2011 Draft and Chad I went back and looked at the 2011 Draft AJ was fourth overall so it's Cam Newton Von Miller Marcel Darius AJ Green Patrick Peterson Julio Jones Alden Smith Jake Locker Tyron Smith one is not like the other J.J watt Robert Quinn Mike Pouncey that's just in the top 15. that's a nice draft in 2011. that's not bad yeah and eight AJ Green feels older than that to me for some reason well it's weird like he feels older than 34 but then when you hear 2011 Draft right yeah that seems like it should have been he was like 2007. I feel like you know that that doesn't feel right yeah he's got some great numbers uh but you know everyone he's he's had he's the first player first receiver uh thousand yard receiver in his first five seasons nine seasons for the Bengals first five thousand yards each he only had two seasons with more than 900 receiving after that stretch though got kind of buried out and and injuries also played a factor yep Chad um injuries not a factor for Tom Brady but he's retiring he's also uh out of the game AJ I'm not sure is going to have a film career much like Brady's and you have a family member who wouldn't partook in the uh the debut weekend yeah I promised my aunt Mitzi who loves the show um much like all of my family loves the show Aunt Mitzi for her birthday went and saw 80 for Brady this weekend I told her to send me a review and that we would review the review on this show uh by the way uh show Hutton once turned me on to very good program review back in the day on Comedy Central uh very underrated show so here is the review it was yes in four of them much like uh much like 80 for Brady will be after uh this next week in the box office um from my aunt Mitzi the movie was better than expected the trailer does not do it justice I am not a Brady fan but he surprised me most of his appearances are just clips from games but he has some one-on-one with Lily Tomlin and he does a very convincing job Jane Fonda's hair which looks horrible but is part of the story it's definitely a Golden Girls type of movie they set out to do something that you always wanted to do but would never let yourself it could never happen but it's so fun and funny to see the situations they put themselves in the serious underlying story plays over to the Super Bowl game that no matter what the odds we don't give up we fight pretty good message for a movie no it's not a Top Gun level movie but something fun to enjoy laugh a little and let go of life for a few minutes I will watch it again I told my Aunt Mitzi based on her review I'm gonna watch this oh wow I'm not going to see it I'm going to wait till it streams but I will watch it all because of mitzi's review not Alejandro's mitzi's that's what sold me I I just why can't they make a trailer Slice of Life you know it's I'm sorry but it's a story of just go for it and just live life and it's the Golden Girls telling us to do this okay just make the trailer better next time the trailer is so bad I still refuse to believe that a movie with a trailer that bad is good to be good I agree with have you seen this uh there's a movie it's streaming now I think but it's a it's Gerard Butler and the name of the movie is just plain like an airplane but someone said to me and said wait till the end the title of the movie will kill you we'll have you crying laughing and it's this action-packed thriller of like uh ex-con on a plane and then something goes down he's got to take it down and they're in the jungle and they land the plane in the jungle and they're all fighting each other yeah and all this is going on then at the end it's just playing Gerard Butler in plane and that's the that's like they ran out of all creativity where has he been guys you know we need to call it plane filming plane what's the movie about well they're on a plate that's it no no don't tell me anything more they're on a plane it's playing Chad has a big softball practice tonight the first of season two I do I've got my uh he's got the lineup right here yeah my group left my left yeah my group uh we break it off into the stations for teams Gotta Keep Kids moving this is a good lesson for all you young coaches out there don't let them stand around too long time to win a time so we keep them moving the whole time time to win the title coming up tomorrow I hope you'll join us start at three o'clock Eastern uh John McLean will be on the show Trey Wallace and Mike G will join us from outkick a lot to discuss with both and guns I believe is doing the halftime show discussion we'll have tomorrow with who hasn't performed the Super Bowl Halftime who should uh we'll give our opinions there as well plus Logan Ryan Buccaneers corner and long time teammate both in New England and in Tampa with Tom Brady Logan Ryan will be on the show ahead of hitting radio row uh he's reaching out to us via zoom and uh we'll chat a little bit about Brady's career and also how things have wrapped up for him as well in Tampa we're off to Arizona for the Super Bowl right after tomorrow's show Radio Road coverage throughout the week leading up to Super Bowl 57 Eagles and Chiefs will be previewing that match up throughout the week right here across the outkick network thanks for joining us for the Monday edition of outkick 360.
