REPEATEDLY AND - - THEY HAVE BEEN REPEATEDLY SINGLED OUT, WITH ACTS OF VIOLENCE. >> SCOTT, WALK US THROUGH WHAT WE'VE LEARNED TODAY FROM THE ATTORNEY GENERAL ABOUT THE THREATS, AND HOW HE WANTS TO MOVE AHEAD. >> BOB, JUST HIM GIVING THOSE REMARKED IN A PUBLIC SETTING WAS TELLING IN ITSELF, THIS IS A SET OF REMARKS TO AN INTERNAL GROUP OF DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE EMPLOYEES. HE DID IT IN A BIG AUDITORIUM WITH A CAMERA AND AN OPEN MICROPHONE FOR THE WORLD TO SEE, HE IS TRYING TO MAKE A BROAD STATEMENT AND PUT OUT A BROADER MESSAGE, NOT JUST THAT WE ARE IN THIS, PERNICIOUS, VOLATILE, DESTABILIZING ENVIRONMENT, MEMBERS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE ARE GETTING THREATS, BEING MENACED AND HARASSED FOR DOING THEIR JOBS AND PROSECUTING CASES IN THIS POLITICALLY TOXIC MOMENT. IT REALLY IMPACTS FAMILIES, IT'S KIDS, WIVES, AND HUSBANDS AT HOME WHO FEEL THIS STRESS AND TRAUMA TO A DEGREE, DUE TO THE THREATENING ENVIRONMENT. THIS HAPPENING JUST DAYS BEFORE TRUMP SAID IT WAS TIME TO PROSECUTE LAWYERS, DONORS, THOSE WHO WERE SOMEHOW INVOLVED IN DIXIE DOESN'T LIKE. >> SCOTT, WHAT ARE WE LEARNING AT CBS NEWS ABOUT THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT, AND HOW IT IS ASSESSING THE THREATS ACROSS THE COUNTRY, AS WE HEAD TOWARD THE ELECTION? >> IT'S NOT JUST THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE DOING THIS, IT'S STATE LEVEL OFFICIALS RAISING RED FLAGS, JUSTICE DEPARTMENT OFFICIALS AND OTHERWISE, THEY WERE HERE YESTERDAY, A NUMBER OF CENTURIES OF STATE THING YOU'VE GOT TO BE AWARE, WE ARE GETTING VOLATILE THREATS AT THE STATE LEVEL. WE HAVE TO BE MINDFUL, WE HAVE TO HAVE THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE HANDLE ISSUED THREATS ACROSS STATE LINES. THIS IS ALSO A CHILLING DYNAMIC THAT COULD BE AN INCENTIVE FOR PEOPLE TO WANT TO PICK UP AND HELP WORK AND ELECTION, WORK THE POLLS, THE COUNTY CLERK, ALL OF THIS IS TROUBLING. SO FAR, AFTER THE 2020 ELECTION, WHERE PEOPLE THOUGHT THE FEVER MIGHT HAVE BEEN BROKEN, IT CERTAINLY HAS NOT BEEN.>> SCOTT, TURNING TOWARD CAPITOL HILL, YOU HAVE NEW REPORTING ON A CONTENTIOUS HEARING IN CONGRESS ABOUT ALLEGED VOTER FRAUD, WHAT IS GOING ON, ON THAT FRONT?>> THIS IS ALSO DESTABILIZING, THERE WAS A GROUP OF SECRETARIES OF STATE, REPUBLICAN AND DEMOCRAT, IN FRONT OF A PANEL, ARGUING WITH EACH OTHER OVER WHETHER STATES ARE VULNERABLE TO WIDESPREAD FRAUD OR WIDESPREAD VOTING BY UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS. IT IS A MARS AND VENUS THING GOING ON HERE, SPEAKING A DIFFERENT LANGUAGE HERE, I'LL ARGUING ABOUT SOMETHING YOU CAN'T AGREE ON THIS CLOSE TO THE ELECTION. WHAT IS DEFINING THIS WEEK, THE HOUSE REPUBLICAN PLAN TO FUND THE GOVERNMENT, PREVENT A SHUTDOWN, AND TO INCLUDE THE SAVE ACT, A BILL THAT WOULD INHIBIT UNDOCUMENTED GRANTS FROM VOTING IN ELECTIONS. DEMOCRATS HAVE BEEN UNEQUIVOCAL AND CONSISTENT IN THE RESPONSE, SAYING IT IS ALREADY ILLEGAL FOR UNDOCUMENTED MIGRANTS TO VOTE IN FEDERAL ELECTIONS, IT DOES NOT HAPPEN, AND TO HAVE THIS DEBATE FUELS CONSPIRACY THEORIES. ONE MICHIGAN DEMOCRAT TOLD ME IT COULD BE A DISINCENTIVE FOR SOME LEGAL DOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS TO GO TO THE POLLS, THAT IS TROUBLING, THAT LOCATES CHANCES OF GETTING THIS
