DAYTONA POST RACE - Underdog Victory, Another Flip, LaJoie Strikes Again

e [Music] [Music] good evening welcome on in everybody damn Jeff Burton got down there quick I just so I'm a little behind so it just got back from commercial for me damn I was uh I know he just left the booth but I I didn't realize if I knew that it was like you can get down there in 5 minutes flat man there'd be so many times at Daytona I would have been able to get more stuff done than I did uh but welcome on in everybody to the post race show uh on here I listen there are two ways that you can look at this finish and we're going to look at both of them believe me but first uh beforehand we do got to cover the points battle um I see many of you upset I get it I understand uh but here's what we got right now so we got if it'll give me it we got Kyle Larson with four wins three a piece for B Byron two for oh and Hamlin uh two for reic and blay one for Lano cnri Elliot Suarez keslowski Bowman and now Harrison Burton has qualified into the NASCAR playoffs there are now 13 in meaning heading into uh Darlington this is the battle you have to watch for uh Martin TX Jr plus 58 if there's no new winner he just has to start the race that's it if there's no new winner in the the race at Darlington uh and it's not Gibbs or busher Gibbs or busher could win win so if it's anyone below doesn't win TRX is locked in cuz you can only make up 55 points maximum uh with a second place finish compared to a last place finish Tai Gibbs plus 39 uh currently in the playoffs then you got Chris busher 16th plus 21 over Bubba Wallace who's the first one out minus 21 and Ross Chastain minus 27 um so there's that to look at trust me we'll talk about the playoff side of it in a moment we're going to go through first the finishing order and then we're going to talk about the big moments before we do the summary this time I'll read the super chats at the end I promise uh but I think this is a race that we got to talk about the big moments first let's not hold off on doing that um also we are uh less than 60 away from hitting 80k so if you're new subscribe we do this after every race can't wait uh for tomorrow at Milwaukee but let's get into it the finishing order of this race unofficial results and those will be at the top of the screen as well after we get through this Harrison Burton nabs the 100th win for the Wood Brothers in their team history uh his first career win makes the Nascar Cup series playoffs he wins by 0.47 so about 500s of a second over Kyle Bush watching the replay right now I mean he just got that huge huge run for Parker RL giving them the the big push on the high side Kyle bus had one more shot at it couldn't get a big enough run uh before Harrison Burton blocked it Kyle Bush agonizingly close again uh for the second time in a super speedway race this year to getting that 20th straight year in Victory Lane Christopher Bell in third fourth this has to be the best finish of Cody wear's career uh a fourth place finish for the ri Rick wear driver uh wow I'll just say that wow I was not expecting a Cody wear top five tonight Ty Gibbs comes home in the fifth spot Bubba Wallace even at the sixth place finish because of Harrison Burton's win is now a good deal out of playoff contention uh as they run now and pull it up one more time yeah 20 21 out even with a sixth place finished tonight Parker retl came home seventh again all this unofficial eighth Brad keslowski hemrich in 9th 10th busher josar 11th Chastain 12th zanen Smith in the 13th spot 14th is Brisco John Hunter Nim 15th uh Alex Bowman nearly missing a cost in 16th 17th Eric Jones cnri comes home 18th BJ McLoud lead lap finish 19th and Joey gase final car on the lead lap 20th position today after that we have uh a lap down for Kyle Larson in 21st Austin Dylan two down in 22nd same with Todd gilland in 23rd and Martin shrex Jr in 24th after this there's one more car left in the race we'll get to him in a moment but we get to the guys who are out and there are many starting with Austin Hill 25th Josh Barry 26th we'll talk about that flip in a moment 27th will Byron 28th your regular season points leader Tyler reck Ryan blay 29th Michael McDow 30th 31st Joey Lano 32nd after leading late in the beero car Justin Haley Ricky Stenhouse 33rd last car on track was 32 laps down Cory lejoy after he tried Le paging the field earlier uh lejoy comes home 34th after that the rest of these guys are out SVG in 35th Chase Elliot 36th uh Noah Gregs 37 Denny ham and 38 funny enough 36 37 38 are 9 10 11 I know it's weird stuff I focus on Ryan priest comes home in 39th and a fiery end and a last place finish to the night of Daniel Suarez I'm going to do a really quick update make sure that we have at least at the moment the current uh finishing order NASCAR still reviewing uh everyone else believe the top 10 is set in stone if not more um but this is what we got here so you see it up top let's talk about Harrison Burton's win first before we get any further and I want to thank all of you for coming out in force tonight I appreciate it uh let's talk about it in two ways uh there are two ways to look at Harrison Burton's win one way is a really cool story underdog win father son story kind of like that on the other end it's another undeserving and I know it's a good moment I don't want to rain on your parade anyone who's really happy right now but is another undeserving driver in the NASCAR playoffs while drivers who could actually uh compete like a Ross Chastain who has hemorrhaged points like I would even say up to the round of 12 possible outside round of eight Contender with Bubba Wallace maybe Chris Bucher or Ty Gibbs at any point uh there are two ways you can look at it so let's start with the positive way to look at it and then the negative we will get to both of them I I I think that uh I think that we should acknowledge both uh but I'm going to put a poll here uh are you happy with the Finish yes or no question pull up in the chat now uh but let's start on the the positive side of this uh the playoffs a lot of times really bury for a lot of people good Underdog stories uh and good Underdog wins that otherwise wouldn't happen and in any other point system would not be a big deal uh I mean it's a super speedway race so of course you're going to get these kind of finishes uh Harrison Burton though I mean they talked about it he he has been absolutely awful I believe he was 34th in points coming in here tonight uh and it was a hard-earned terrible 34th Place season so far completely washed away but the win for the Wood Brothers having 100 wins as an organization is a huge deal uh one the Pioneer franchises if you will of NASCAR uh and that can't be overlooked uh you know couple years from now nobody's going to think playoff wise about this win uh if you think about it that way you're going to look back and think of that moment and you're going to think about the fact that you got another fatherson moment for a call to the Finish maybe not as impactful I will say as say like the Dale and Dale show I will not argue that but I'll say it was still really cool seeing uh Jeff Burton be able to call his son into Victory line like that and that shouldn't be forgotten because of the current system we have I want to make that clear you guys know a lot of you guys who are regulars know I am not a huge supporter of the playoff system by any means uh so I like to look at them uh these kind of moments and these kind of races Race by race Moment by moment a lot of times and when you look at it like that it's a great moment and and to me it's not going to cheapen it too much even though it does suck about the other end of it that we'll talk about in a moment I'm not horribly angry about it because and maybe that's more because I've just kind of accepted where we're at now I still like I said I still think it's cool that that Harrison Burton got that win and I'm sorry guys like if Kyle Bush would have won that race it'd be another undeserving guy in the playoffs anyway it would have K Kyle Bush doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs either I know a lot of people are upset cuz Kyle Bush didn't get that win because he's now more a popular driver than he used to be but that's true Kyle Bush has been awful this year too maybe not as awful as Harrison Burton he's looked like you know normal Kyle Bush compared to Harrison Burton this year but let's not pretend that if the8 car got ahead of the 21 we had somehow a championship contending driver who had changed the entire outlook on the season win uh so I like if it was a bunch of playoff guys or if it was like you know busher you know Bubba Wallace uh Chastain one of those guys who actually probably could have made some kind of push if he hits it right I I'd be a little more upset uh but when you look at everybody behind him that uh it's you know not even the top five really because they're either in or too far back to even be in so I guess that's why I'm not raging per se but let's talk about the playoff side of this thing too because I don't want to gloss over that because that is a real aspect of this finish now that because of NASCAR will overshadow it for some people uh and I will say again Harrison Burton does not deserve to be in the NASCAR playoffs so they just popped it up on screen again for me and I'm looking at four drivers underneath the cut line that they have on screen that will vastly outperform the 21 team when they get into the playoffs God forbid that like the 21 the 99 the two um probably forgetting one more but but God forbid one of those teams ends up winning at Atlanta the blowup everybody will have will be Monumental uh but that but that's what Nascar has put these kind of situations you know into that box that that's a a effect in a lot of ways of of the direction NASCAR's gone with things and again this is not new either this has been a thing pretty much I'd say since 2014 when they instituted winin Yuan elimination style and all that uh I don't blame Chris busher who just popped up on screen for being pissed off he you know he looks pissed he should be pissed uh because he definitely deserves to be in over the 21 and and now he's 21 up so good for him but he's still on that bubble line um and I see a lot of people are mad in the chat I'm seeing about uh three quarters happy with the finish uh about a quarter of you guys not happy with the finish uh and I I understand both sides of it man I really do uh I see a Super Chat there I'm going to put a poll up right now uh how did you like Lee DIY tonight I wna I want to have that I I want to have that as kind of like a poll for you guys while we we kind of transition into the next kind of talking points because there are lot um I'll put the options as amazing good okay not good those are your options uh I want to know what you guys think uh this is again this going to be a little more crazy of a of a post race stream and setup so bear with me uh but let's talk about Josh Barry and Michael McDow uh the near flip and the full flip you know they had uh made this big deal about the right side shark fin and how it was going to change everything um they made a big deal about it with the McDow deal and I think that one's was more of what we normally see where a car gets into the side of another kind of tilts them up and we've seen that in every generation that's not to me as egregious of one per se um bear with me if I'm like touching my nose a little bit I accidentally cut it up here a little bit earlier so sorry about that uh but the Barry one looked and I get that there was a car next to him and all that but but when you look at the way the car flipped I don't think that car really had that that was next to him really had that much of an effect uh it looked very reminiscent of Corey lejoy at Michigan uh I get you know before people bring it in there before people get mad a lot of people have been getting mad uh about it you know flips have always been in racing I know not denying that it's part of racing it's part of going fast I get it it's going to happen almost every year it's happened pretty much every year since I've started watching in one way or another like I am not one of those people whove been on you know champion on Twitter like you we need to eliminate flips at all costs like no no like it's going to happen like try and move against it but what not but you know I pulled this up on nwp this past Wednesday which by the way is on this channel this coming Wednesday uh you know this die cast and I get you know it's not a complete you know not the same thing but it's pretty accurate and it's this turtle shell under here just smooth it's not a Matchbox car cuz then I have a diecast over here this is my Dale Earnhart last wind car and you see a bit of a difference there um I didn't realize I had a fish hook on that uh but you see a bit of a difference there you kind of sh tell time here uh I don't know if n Nascar has to redesign it or not but I have a feeling we're going to see more of these kind of deals and what it reminds me of because I don't want people to go overboard uh and say like it's the end of the world kind of thing but it will reminds me of is do I have a show in tell for this one I think I do these right I got dust this uh these cars all right the uh coot and the coot had problems with flips early on uh we saw it really kind of come to a head in 2009 and into 2010 there were some redesigns not only not only the wing there was also some designs back here to keep the cars more on the ground uh and it was around the same time in time span uh that that we had uh with the NextGen so far we are in year three with the NextGen and if you remember you know 2009 year three with the coot these fast tracks you kind of had these issues Granite was more Super Speedways with the coot compared to to the uh next gen having a few more issues in other places I'm not absolving the next gen don't worry uh but it's it's kind of funny how history rhymes like this uh and my point of this is not necessarily to be like you know don't worry about it or oh my God it's the end of the world kind of thing but more just granted there's a lot of new people there now but NASCAR's been in this kind of position before uh the shark fin really didn't do anything you know they they kept talking about how the the right side shark fin especially on the mcdan it's like they did its job you don't have to worry about it as much like they were NBC was taking a Victory lap for NASCAR and then the Barry wreck happened and I didn't want to say anything until Barry got out luckily um this car is safe enough that these kind of flips and dissipation of energy uh that he really wasn't in any danger per se um but but I guess just that point is like it's it's not the end of the world I think within a year maybe two this will be completely figured out I'm hoping uh unless they're Go full NASCAR and are completely uh you know stubborn like they have been in the past and refuse to change anything and say that the rest of the world is the one that has the problem um I don't know I don't know if that's just a delusional take uh you guys can vote in the comments or if that's a uh R more rational one I'm trying to be a little more rational with it uh per se but in all of this I've realized I've completely as we're finishing up and we'll talk again about the um the Suarez fire write that down right now uh I completely forgot to ask y'all what' you think of this race 10 out of 10 you know being the best race you ever seen one out of 10 being the worst I'm I love Jeff Burton's reaction there and it is funny seeing Harrison's girlfriend I believe and Mom it's like oh my God there's two of them there there's more of them but what you think CU I think a lot of people had fun with it I think overall I personally had fun with this race I thought overall it was pretty good I think racing wise not wrecking take playoffs out of it all of that just pure racing wise I think it's the best uh that the next gen has performed at a super speedway that's not Atlanta cuz that's like almost specifically designed for this car I do think racing wise uh this race is a lot better than Talladega they still had some gridlock problems at times but you saw there was the ability to have movement at least in the front half of the pack compared to usually when it was just the first three or four cars uh so I would say personally I'd give it an eight uh I see I see one in the chat hold on chat's moving so quick I think it's rain maker in there saying seven but I'm drunk um and yeah not a lot of fuel saving either there was not a lot of fuel saving in this race uh which was kind of a staple of the last couple super speedway races that weren't Atlanta again Atlanta is just a whole different Beast with this car it that track's just specifically made to be good with the next Genet Fields like because even Xfinity and trucks suck there um most of the time but yeah I mean there was some fuel saving don't get me wrong there were some Train racing at different points there were some three sometimes four wide um but overall I thought it was still pretty solid race um I you know again wasn't crazy about the yellows but that that's just sort of where we're at in modern Super Speedway racing especially this one when you get so close to the playoffs and everything and there's so many desperate drivers up there there were a lot of drivers today that had really good runs that didn't get the finishes the show for it that were underdogs I mean McDow obviously Todd gilland obviously but there's some others that that kind of wrecked out who had had run well tonight uh Justin Haley was at one point leading the pack for a good amount of this race uh he ran pretty well didn't get the finish a show for it so you know overall I wasn't I wasn't as upset as some of you guys I get I get some of you guys being upset but I I I can't say I fell into that um that window as for the Suarez deal the reason he finished last was it was weird uh so basically some fuel during the St had fell onto the ground which happened uh Denny Hamlin couldn't get out of the stall behind him and I believe sarz couldn't get out of the stall as well either they're both stopped he kind of di you saw like the little like backfire come out of the exhaust the fire caught the gasoline got on the 11 car a little bit but followed its way up into the back of the 99 uh the crazy thing about this for me it's like I took the dog out to go to the bathroom and I we come back upstairs I start watching um you know right as are still on Commercial they come back from commercial and I'm just like looking at this Inferno of the 99 car I'm like what the hell happened uh just a weird weird weird incident uh I like that K G saying uh fire detrimental um but yeah I I was I was uh a little baffled if you will I I I was that was a weird one for me but that's kind of stuff that's happened in NASCAR before I don't want people say oh it's a next gen issue like this happened with the Gen 4 happened with coot Gen 6 like whatever like there are plenty of things to rip on the next gen 4 and I think I've talked about a little bit of it so far tonight um things that happen in every other car and it's just a freak incident is not one of those um but overall I mean I'd say one of the better memorable nights of the year uh I'm looking in the chat here we're GNA end the poll off uh right now I asked y'all how how' Lee DIY do 54% of you said he did an amazing job 32% said he did a good job uh 9% said no he's okay and 2% of you I believe it was actually 3% of you said not good I enjoyed Lee DIY in the booth um I thought that man that frog in my throat uh I thought he did a pretty good job you could tell there were a few times where it was like he definitely had been thrown into the fire having his first race be at Daytona but the way he called the the finish I thought was really good I think that's a really memorable call uh it's not even and it's not a diss or a rip or anything like that on uh on Rick Allen I know a lot of people are comparing them for obvious reasons one replacing the other uh and especially one the night after the other um but overall I thought he did a pretty good job and I think that when he gets more into his element when he gets more used to the NASCAR side of things uh I really think that uh that he's going to I think he's is going to get even better once he's comfortable in this by the way we are 15 away from 80k holy Jesus y'all came out in first thank you thank you so much um we I think we can get there by the end of the stream I appreciate it a ton um but those are the big ones we hit on let's get into Point by point that I took notes but there are so many times I really couldn't take notes because they were three wide and going crazy and it was literally from the beginning the aggression tonight from the beginning of the race was amazing like the first eight or nine laps I was like how the what did they light under their asses tonight to get them going this this aggressively and this early like holy crap um you know and I like from the start 2 by two then 3x3 immediately it was just musical chairs up front for the lead in stage one you know he had McDow on the poll then the the 38 was up there the 24 the 6 the 22 the two the four they're just constantly going up and and back and forth up and down uh you know just absolutely wild racing I was almost certain that Joey Lano was going to start a big one throwing like a joey Lano style uh wreck and we hit it we got 80k thank you thank you so much um thank you thank you so much I appreciate it I love hitting mile marks and and Milestones when we're live and yeah we will be uh we will be live tomorrow after Milwaukee uh so definitely tune on in with that one but the big uh threadline that I saw and granted you I mean you look at the way it finished out with the winner finish out this way too Ford was bad fast early uh very very fast I think at one point like eight of the top 10 were Fords there were no Toyotas up there for a little bit uh granted a lot of them were kind of gridlocked into the pack that still is a problem for those in the back and it's why they were so aggressive up towards the front um but you got the third line working at different points and it was always seemingly a Ford leading that uh the the stage ended with Barry who I think is I think has to be Lee diy's favorite driver of the night because he brought him up a ton um I don't know if it's just like a one night thing or he was like looking up different stuff or whatever um maybe it'll be one of his tells the way that like Michael walri likes Daniel die and we'll always talk about him um but Barry won stage one over legano busher cnri and blay Todd Gillan Brad kazlowski Michael McDow William Byron and Kyle Larson and if you look at the way that that finished out it is Ford Ford Ford Ford Ford Ford Ford another Ford in eighth and then two Hendrick Chevys with the 24 and the five uh the Fords were on it early on in this race of course we come back uh from commercial in stage two uh with Suarez's car erupting in Flames after the deal with Denny uh I will point out in this as well this was that night of um of the first of three nights of NBC um going commercial free like in in the sense of of side by side only for all green flag laps and they're doing the same thing in two weeks at Atlanta and then they're doing the same thing in October I believe it's October at Talladega um I I will be honest my I don't think I like consciously was thinking of a difference but my brain definitely noticed a difference I I like that I didn't miss a damn thing during this race uh it it's something that I think needs to be emulated and you know what this is something I like and I will praise but at the same time this should have been done years ago you know why uh because for at least the second half of races this was done Years Ago by ESPN back in 2011 through 2014 it was NASCAR nonstop back then uh basically once they got near not even past near the second half of the race there would not be a single green flag lap Miss because they were going non-stop coverage to the end uh I like the NBC did this they deserve praise for doing this but the fact that we have waited 10 years for something like this again uh is still unacceptable there's still a ton of work to be done but the steps were taken and you have to appreciate that as a fan great change I agree with h Boston Warrior 48 in the chat great change uh and yes Gavin saying the same thing TNT also did this for K zero back in the 2000s um and and you're right and I think that I I think if tnt and Prime want to make a mark with NASCAR fans next year uh they need to do that for every race I mean if you get I get that a lot of people aren't crazy about prime I understand the reasons why I get a lot L people but still some not crazy about Turner Sports and TNT and Warner Brothers and all them but if they want to and if anyone's listening from there if you want to like get fans on your side if you can do non-stop coverage for all or a majority of your races gold absolute gold will love you for it it'll be a great way to make a mark uh and a big change especially since you'll be following up Fox Sport uh which is way behind with the times um just wanted to put that out there before we get into the stage two stuff here because stage two we did see a little bit of fuel saving we did see uh some laying back for a little bit until lap 60 when 18 cars got involved in a wreck uh Cory lejoy got into the back of the 10 he did get a bump from the five beforehand but the five didn't like send him in there there was still a little bit of a gap um it is a typical Super Speedway wreck but at the same time uh it the end result is the end result in that and and NBC counted 18 I believe I got that many all the hendri cars were involved um looking through here I believe the Legacy cars were involved couple of the Gibbs cars um one I mean there there were a lot of good cars caught up in that wreck and I know trust me we'll talk a lot about Cory joy in a little bit um I appreciate the super chats we'll get to those after we get past the summary here uh and if there are any changes um when it come and don't get me wrong I think that the five did have some a little bit in there but I do believe the majority was still on the seven know a lot of people are bringing one thing up or the other uh hold on a second I'm looking at the I I love seeing your guys's reactions in there I guess you know what if you want let's have some fun with it I mean because there was a little bit of that um there was a little bit of that debate I saw online there you know Granite there's some going in way different directions uh but put seven in the chat if that was on lejoy five in the chat if that was on Larson or F in the chat if it you don't care it was just a racing incident uh put it on in there I want to see spam them all up uh I don't think we need to put a poll on it um but I'm looking it's it's definitely pretty even I think seven has the majority um couple racing incident ones in there damn there it goes there it goes there it goes yeah I think seven has the majority but there are there are still some people that W not happy with Kyle Larson through that um either way ends out with 18 cars damag taken out hit in some way uh due to that incident tonight we get it back going and we get a little choo choo racing a little bit maybe 10 laps worth yeah I would say that uh I saw that super chat I would say lejoy definitely is a new mat to benedetto the guy who lost favor with the fans after being The Lovable Underdog uh but it didn't last too long the choo choo racing didn't last too long Pensky briefly got to be one two3 until cnri got DED by lson uh I get yeah might be a little pushed but Larson ended up kind of going down into the two doring him cnri keeps it saved of course we get Jeff Burton talking about asphalt because you know that was the big talking point for him last night and tonight saves it keeps it going uh but the caution comes out only a couple laps later multiple issues going on two flat tires and a blown engine uh SVG grenades it down the backstretch I mean the plumes of smoke and then to me that's it's so crazy because I'm so used to the end of the Gen 6 era where nobody blew an engine ever Grant is cuz the engines were you know neutered the cars it was it was just a whole hodge podge of reasons um but every mosquito got killed on the on the super stretch uh at Daytona tonight and at the same time Eric Jones had a right front flat and one thing that I will say NBC didn't report too well on this Martin Trex Jr had a flat tire as well uh when this caution came out so just absolutely wild uh just turns of events here and that leads to I believe a six seven lap shootout for the end of the stage legano and Larson out front Larson got a push but soon after three and two lines got formed legano gets pushed past onew Pensky finish uh with Lano beating blay then Brad kazlowski Larson gilland Haley Kyle Bush William Byron busher and Bubba how many Fords are in this one one two three four five six all right they're really struggling they're only six of the top 10 were Fords uh in that one uh but we get it back going pass lap 100 34 ends up getting the lead for a little bit and I swear to God I wrote Le page and had to cross it out and then and then uh write lejoy Cory lejoy with 54 to go came out of the pits uh after having damage and I swear to God he nearly will page the field debate on what you want with LaRon lejoy on on that big one but I saw it and NBC didn't talk about it I don't know if they're just like Saving Face for him or or they didn't notice but the seven car came up onto a little over the yellow line which is okay usually except they're three wide racing past him nearly gets hit by a car who has to take an evasive maneuver I a lot of people I noticed on social media noticed that that my heart leaped up into the back of my throat and I even tweeted I'm like I can't be the only one that saw that right uh I luckily I wasn't I know a few people were like uh stop piling on and I'm like I'm not trying to pile on just dude like don't don't leage the field like there's a reason that hasn't happened in the last 15 or so years since then um and it's I'm not saying that to dog pil on the guy but that's just a mind-numbingly stupid moment uh and if he did end up LEP aging the back of the field my God that that would be bad I mean that would be because maybe it was the angle maybe it's cars maybe it's true maybe it's Maybelline I don't know uh but those cars in the next gen race here looked a little faster than those exfinity cars back in the day just saying um listen I hope Cory will Joy land somewhere good uh whether it's xinity trucks and and is able to prove himself because I do think he has talents as much as a lot of people like to to dog pile on it but man it's just some sometimes for you Joy F you Joy um yeah so they hit 2011 then yeah I mean they were going faster uh it's got to be really really hard to to defend him and and if he talks about in his podcast he'll probably blame somebody else because that's what he's been doing all year he has lost the grace of fans and I would say just anyone in general because he so often tries to deflect everything off of himself um but I hope I hope he lands well he is so the 2020s mid 2020s Manta benedetto though uh but we get anyway uh 42 to go Justin Haley gets out ahead we get some more Choo Cho Racing for a little bit uh it doesn't last long though the the single file Freight Train racing doesn't last 20 30 laps like it did in the Gen 6 area usually at least in this race in the last couple it's kind of lasted like I don't know maybe five 10 laps uh comeing to 20 to go they're G to pit probably around 18 or so they're getting right to the end of the fuel window and a caution comes out John Hunter neek uh gets pushed from lson into the 51 down the racetrack spins it out and brings out the caution again another one of the fives involved with not many people are going to bring it up but just saying if we're going to bring it up with lejoy we got to bring it up with Larson too got to hold everybody accountable uh and that leads us to a restart with 16 to go restart that my opinion made a way bigger deal than I think on surface level a lot of people will look at they'll look at in the moment but maybe not like the different effects of it with 16 to go it's a restart between the two and Brad kazlowski which is still weird to me but Brad kazlowski gets a restart violation he went before the two it was clear as day you saw that six car going um and passing that restart Zone before the two got going whether synr spun his tires or not I'll be honest NBC really didn't show two B of A job of seeing whether or not that happened uh but the six had to do a pass through penalty Brad keslowski could have easily won this race today had he not had that penalty he also very easily could have been caught up in that wreck either way this opened the door for the likes of um Michael McDow lson Logano everybody up there just run wild um you saw lson make a bonsai crazy move down the backstretch three wide up the middle you saw three by3 through the the field and it finally all came to a head in turns 1 and two with nine to go Michael mcdal spun across the track after contact with Austin cnri uh gets hit by the 22 peels the car kind of like I don't know showand tell time again kind of once he gets hit just kind of sends the sends the car up like that damn near flips into the fence does manage to stay I can't say on the ground but on the cars rips a SE poost off of the 48 uh and collects probably another 12 cards or so in that one which leads us to three to go where it's a two and the four up front cnri gets ahead on the bottom four pulls even um and back again and with two to go down the backstretch we end up getting a caution quickly into a red flag the eight had a bad bump on the two that got him into the four four goes down the track spins it out flips down gets on his lid hits the wall upside down which that was the part immediately before the broadcast even said it kind of worried me I was like oo that's it's not the greatest angle to hit at um I'm not I'm not sure NASCAR really tests cars just spinning on their their tops uh into walls too awful much maybe they do and I just am an idiot and don't know but that was what I was worried about red flag comes out for about 10 minutes while they slowly flip the four over Josh Barry thank God okay but we talked about it a little bit earlier if you want to see more about it earlier in the Stream uh shark fin really didn't do all that much I believe this one caught up about eight or nine cars I I'll say this um NBC didn't do a great job of showing who was collected and all of that in these wrecks tonight that's something I think they need to work on for Atlanta and Talladega moving forward because it's going to happen we all know it will um but that was something I noticed tonight so again because God forbid we finish a race at the scheduled distance we go to overtime the eight and the 21 up front the eight cleared for a little bit did not pull the block uh though on the backstretch coming to the checkered flag on the 21 among other options he could have done different points Harrison Burton gets the push from Parker RL past Kyle bus wins the race in front of his father and all of us watching at home and that is the end of the 2024 Coke Zero sugar 400 um again overall I thought a pretty fun night you know wasn't the best Daytona race I've ever seen no no it wasn't uh was it the worst hell no wasn't 2013 Daytona 500 but I thought it was pretty good if I had to say if it's on the the side of great good or below average bad it's definitely on that great good side it was a it was a really solid race that had a little too much Calamity for probably a lot of people's um a lot of people's liking but overall I will take the improvements of the overall racing with the next gen at the super Speedways like Daytona and Talladega I will take that um still a lot of of room for improvement still a lot to go but you know there still is uh there still is a lot of um good to be taken but thank you guys uh let's get on to the super chats I'm holding a lot of you long enough I know a lot of you on the East Coast are uh quickly approaching midnight uh so let's get into these I will try and keep an eye on both the chat perfectly shows what makes Daytona mean so much the emotion and joy and of Victory mixed with the sorrow of narrow defeat I like that I like that you I could I could have uh been mistaken if you had taken that straight from the words um of of Mike Joy at any point uh Scott McNew for the 20 says by far the best nextg Super Speedway race happy for the Wood Brothers even though he shouldn't be in the playoffs I'm happy for Harrison who basically was racing for his Nascar career in general that's where I'm at with it you know I don't like the playoff side of it but everything else I'm fine with it's Daytona it is that way I hate that what the playoffs have done and I understand it because I do feel this on the playoff side of things and point side of things I hate that the playoffs have made people pissed about great Underdog victories which in many moments have made NASCAR so great in the past I I really hate that that's the mentality that so many fans have and will not look at it in a different way I don't like it either trust me I complained for probably a Solid 5 10 minutes about at the start of this stream but it's also a good moment in a vacuum at least and a lot of you people probably don't uh a lot of you people probably just don't care about the playoffs in general so get why it's that much of a big deal if you don't even look at it as being valid uh Zack for the 210
