Weather AM: Storms Sweep East From Manitoba Bringing a Cool Down

[Music] good morning you're watching weather am it is Thursday August 29th and we'll begin with uh some beautiful video here in Fort Erie thank you fish in Niagara you see some of those ominous looking clouds uh cooler air has descended upon Southern Ontario for today and from ominous clouds to more ominous clouds we'll go to near pinoca Alberta cray Robertson uh he was so storm chasing there the other day and there was a reports of psize hail and some strong winds and heavy rain and yesterday in Calgary 12° in about 20 mm of rain and then the rainbow came out after the rain so active weather coverage focusing on our big mid latitude cyclone AKA low pressure system uh right here in Saskatchewan and now I'm just going to zoom in a little bit because we got thunderstorms they've been migrating up from the US from the Great Plains into Manitoba uh through the overnight hours so there's the back side of the low the rain so now east of Calgary so just straddling along the man excuse me the Alberta Saskatchewan border got some scattered showers around Regina that's near the center of the not far from the center of the low itself and then this getting that rain coming in from the south and there's been some frequent lightning in around Winnipeg this morning as well locally heavy rains too so careful load in the driving uh through the morning hours there could be some ponding and pooling not to mention low visibility through the afternoon hours no Calgary back up to 23 de so a nice rebound for Lethbridge as well Edmonton you didn't get as much rain by the way the winds were strong yesterday so everything settling down and improving in Alberta into saskat and Manitoba we are seeing some rain showers lift their way northwards but the threat of severe weather into Southeastern Manitoba this morning and migrating into Northwestern Ontario just following the lightning product here and again most of the action through the night and through this morning has been moving eastwards in southern Manitoba to the Interlake region and then look at these thunderstorms starting to Bubble Up from canor of Fort Francis and eastwards towards atokan and likely ultimately Thunder Bay by this evening now I'm not going to forget about you in Northern saskat Northwestern Manitoba in the fire zones of course we've had fresh evacuations as well there could be some passing showers or thunderstorms in the uh this the fire zones but still lots of poor air quality and smoke and wind would also be something to contend with too all right Central and Eastern Canada I noticing the cooler breath of air in the air right now it is is zero in capis casing one degree in Tim so very cool temperatures 10 in Ottawa and 11 in Montreal so you are feeling that cooler just a reminder that we're getting towards you know the end of summer and some single digigit temperatures across New Brunswick today and certainly again tonight I'll show you that in a moment uh 22 in Ottawa 21 in Toronto so pretty comfortable weather just a little on the coolish side and across New Finland we still have a smattering of showers here and there but below seasonal values especially considering we had record breaking warrant at newfinland Labrador earlier this week uh single digits in Gander single digits in monton and U well least close to single digits and Halifax come tonight in terms of our stormy action there's your thunderstorms in Northwestern Ontario today tomorrow beginning in the morning in the north east and in Southern Ontario late day thunderstorms Friday night potentially into Saturday morning before that moves eastwards into Quebec and it is a long weekend here's a look at Saturday's forecast and I would say some of the nicest weather expected this long weekend we'll be on the west coast of BC [Music] [Music]
