I have realized I do not know my granddaughter's name we're going to name her Fern another plant you got growing in there no hello there Zach I'm so excited to talk to you because I saw the most delightfully uncomfortable movie the other day there's so many angles from which to watch it there's the the generational thing there's the the racial element there's the familial element and I feel like everyone watching this movie is going to come at it from a different angle for everybody huh exactly so when you were reading the script did you know exactly what you were getting into or was it later maybe when you were shooting one of those uh dream sequences all over the place emotionally but I didn't know until I met Catherine and met the salmon Max and Andrew burnup and what it was going to really be about and being in the scenes and reacting and really being on your toes as an actress I didn't I didn't really know until I got there but I'm so glad I did it uh Catherine you have you are that incredible performer who has like I don't know no vanity about these physical Transformations that you go through uh either in this or or MC Beth or or uh uh young things things po things excuse me um is that something that are you drawn to those characters or do has it just happened to work out that way for you it's kind of worked out that way um I I I I trained at a very conventional uh drama school the royaly dramatic art but then joined a physical Theater Company where we were allowed to play Everything old people young people uh and there was no oh you look like this therefore the so um and I've played um um chimpanzee I've played Japanese businessman I've played King Leah so um but I think it was that initial training that where where it was we go back to the word Freedom where you know Freedom was so if I can imagine it then an audience can imagine it maybe so and yeah so it it's it's a delight to venture there how lucky am I to work with someone like Katherine Hunter I mean she really did did bring out the best in me as a performer and I'm just so thankful just to hear your resume is just amazing you are incredible together and if you two didn't work the movie wouldn't work was there any kind of like I don't know acting exercise or bonding that you did or is it just pretending to want to kill each other as soon as the other's not looking no we did have rehearsal we did have rehearsal but there was a bond that we had outside of filming that we we just finished talking about just just about 15 minutes ago about how close we were and about how we were so connected outside of the film and then when the camera start to roll then we had to be sort of enemies and it was kind of was kind of weird to go from bonding and asking her a bunch of questions about her life and then getting on screen and pouring water on her you know like something crazy like that so excellent uh it was a wonderful Journey sure uh Brandy if you'll indulge me for a moment as a big uh slasher film Enthusiast I'm not going to ask you if you're going to be coming back for the Revival if I Know What You Did Last Summer but I will ask you as one of very few uh black women to survive a slasher movie Yes um do you that was in the contract really yes incredible do do you think Carla thinks that she's Invincible now or is she like in a fortified bunker filled with guns oh that's a good question I I have no idea what Carla thinks I would have to think about that one because it's been so long but I would I would probably think she thinks she's Invincible because she survived something like that she survived a big thing a huge thing so maybe she's Invincible let's go with that okay thank you so much the movie is incredible I I have many people who I'm going to share the movie with when it comes out properly and um you know as someone who was six years old when they saw Cinderella it's nice to talk to my Boyhood Crush thank you wow thank you so much that means a lot to me thank you do you fear the lord no yeah me [Music]
