Tua Tagovailoa CALLS OUT Brian Flores for his coaching style

of Valor the quarterback of the Miami Dolphins talking about his former head coach Brian Flores and the relationship that they had it was a little bit off in some of the communications uh that they had he appeared on The Dan levitar show um I have his clip and then I have Brian flores's response so let's take a look at it can you explain to us the difference in Practical terms between having a coach who did believe in you the way that he did and the difference between that and what was happening with florids yeah well to put it in simplest terms if you woke up every morning and I told you you suck at what you did that you don't belong doing what you do that you shouldn't be here that this guy should be here that you haven't earned this right and then you have somebody else come in and tell you dude you are the best fit for this like you are accurate you are the best whatever you are this you are that like how would would it make you feel listening to one or the other you see what I'm saying and then you hear it you hear it regardless of what it is the good or the bad and you hear it more and more you start to actually believe that I don't care who you are you you could be the president of the United States you have a terrible person that's telling you things that you you don't want to hear or that that you probably shouldn't be hearing you're going to start to believe that about yourself and so that's sort of like what what ended up happening and it was I mean it's basically been what two years of training that out of not just me but you know a couple of the guys as well that have been here since my rookie year all the way to now we all had the same reaction to that what so we got that one heing what two had to say so now let's switch over and let's hear from Brian Flores and what he had to say in response that's why I say you're a great journalist you got both sides of the hey man that's what that's way you got to do it you can't just tell we don't tell one-sided stories even though this is a podcast at the heart of hearts we are journalists so we got to show both sides of the story so Brian Flores was asked about it later that week let's see what he had to say you know specific to uh you know the comments that were made by Tua um I just want to say look I'm I'm I'm happy genuinely happy uh genuinely uh genuinely happy happy for the success that TS had um and I really wish him nothing but the best U and you know I think you know player relationships are very important to me um they I think that's kind of the foundation of coaching and I got into coaching because you know I was impacted as a as a as a a young guy by my High School coaches my college coaches my going all the way to pop warner my gu into the coaching because you know I want to make that same kind of impact positive impact pour into young people uh help them become you know as KO says all the time the best versions of themselves um and you know that's really my goal always in coaching um so I wish nothing but the best to T um and um you know really more than anything I'm just focus on the on the on the Vikings the 2024 Vikings The Players we have um we saw a couple of guys up here you know just a couple minutes ago matelis and HP I think you know their leadership their uh their friendship is important to me and I'm just uh I'm excited about this group man oh yeah I'mma let you go first because got a lot to say about this uh I got a lot to say about this so what do you think about this dynamic between Tua and Brian Flor is I think honestly with the whole situation of how it played out um it came the light after what three years four years now Tua has the right to feel exactly what he feels and I know that still bother him by the tone that he was saying it in during the Dan lebatard show he was just saying that look man I mean I just want to be the best that I can be um Brian Flores look like he's a guy that you know he encourages players by you know telling them things like that and as such and for some people it can motivate him but for Tua and for some other guys that doesn't motivate anybody for you to say stuff like that um I know that uh when you know I read reports that he wanted Justin Herbert and the owner wanted Tua and you know I don't know if he was taking his anger out on him through the owner but I just no this for Brian to be a head coach again and for him to be in that that that situation at the helm of a football team he has to be more conscious of the things that he does and he says towards his players because at the end of the day the quarterback is the the face of the team he is the guy that makes those decisions when you go out there he's the guy that has a lot on his mind because he's doing not just his job but kind of making sure everybody else's job so Brian I just I mean if that allegation is true and the way how you defended yourself sound like it is true I think that this Brian I think honestly this should be a time for you to look in the mirror and make sure that you talk to these grown men the way that they should be talked to and it's not like you're you're not coaching a Pop Warner Middle School uh Team you're coaching you are coaching an NFL team these guys have mortgages bills and families to take care of just as much as you do so again Brian um you know I rooted for you man um during that time I root it for you man but uh I'm not saying you don't deserve a second chance because I think everybody deserves a second chance I just really hope that you look in the mirror and you look at yourself and say you can grow from this and um if you do get a chance to lead another NFL team I hope that you you don't do uh create the same mistakes that you did the first time cool all right this thing on cool it's on it's on BR this is why not everyone is meant to be a head coach I'm not saying Brian can't learn from these mistakes but this is why not everyone can be a head coach because heavy is the head that wears the crown you know I say this all the time bro when you're a leader and you at the top you got to not only know how to call the shots you got to not only know how to take all the blame and none of the credit you got to know how to manage people you got to know how to read the room so if you saying this you suck or I think I heard Tu say or somebody might have tweeted he told he texted him the night before gameing was like uh don't screw this up or something like that and you see that he is not embracing the way you talking to him or he's not responding well to it you gotta adapt and change to it bro you can't talk to someone like that you know I've heard of you know players telling coaches like coaches longest you don't cuss at me if you don't talk to we good that's the relationship you got to have with that man you got to do that some players say coach me hard do whatever you need to to get it out of me right pause do whatever you need to to to you know allow me to be at my highest level of the way that I'm playing right that's cool okay but you can't do that same thing with the next person you can't talk to your Center the same way that you're talking to your left tackle you can't talk to your left tackle the same way you're talking to your starting safety you can't talk to starting safety the same way you're talking to your middle linebacker everybody does not operate the same everybody does not have the same type of mindset I'll tell this story right when I was in LC we're playing and uh we were going against Howard Payne I think it was my junior year right so I'm playing left guard so for those of you that don't know again I find myself wearing a lot of LC stuff whenever we taping these shows that's cool but um so I'm lined up at left guard and it was right before the half and Howard Payne was running this stunt or where they were they were they were doing something on defense and it was confusing because in football everyone has a responsibility they have to you know be in their certain gaps and all this stuff like that to make sure they're at where they're supposed to be that way you know plays don't break off big plays don't happen all this stuff like that everyone has their own assignment the play that they were running not everybody was in the right spot of what they were supposed to be doing but it was working because it was that messed up so essentially what they were doing it was a guy lined up here on my right inside shoulder okay and it was a guy that was a safety from a distance and they they were blitzing and coming or they were coming into the same part or same Gap so this guy was going here this guy was blissing from here so the protection that we're in my eyes are out here I'm not looking at this guy okay so the first time they do it we're like in two-minute drill couple seconds left in the half so we just trying to go down the field see what points we could get so we slide protecting so I'm not looking here and this guy stunts over and he just he don't he not even trying to like make a move he just took his helmet and ran boom boom he knocked me over right he does that and so I'm knocked off balance and now I'm not looking at this guy that frees him up the safety he sacks the quarterback oh I'm like dang bro what happened so we trying to figure out what happened and we we talking in the midst of each other so we line up trying to get another playoff and they run it again boom same thing happens so I'm like dog what is happening so we go into halftime we making the adjustments my coach talking to me we drawing it up on the board and he was like oh you just let him whoop you right like coach calm down for a second listen to what I'm telling you I said this is what they running boom this is what they doing and I remember after all that was over he pulled me off to the side he was like Hey you know I love you I I I need you to be able to get this once once we knew we was on the same page we knew what we was doing the very first play that we got out there they ran that stunt again I didn't even look at that safety I grabbed him come here so we y'all y'all G to stop doing this because now that I figured out what you're doing now we're gonna stop you from running this play my point in that is my position coach knew in that moment bro I don't need all that hollering and screaming going on right now yeah I want you to coach me hard yeah I want you to tell me like if I'm not playing well tell me I'm not playing well but what I really needed in that moment what we needed was to figure out how do we stop this so they don't keep running it and we can effectively run our offense and it doesn't mess up what we got going once we figured that out we was good so to that point Brian Flores if you know that your quarterback don't take coaching like that well don't coach him like that so now he's no longer a head coach he's now with the Vikings he's gonna have to learn learn how to talk to people properly coach them properly again I'm not saying that he is not a good coach but I'm speaking to the overall Topic in itself some people think that a good coach is just schematics X's and O's the mindset of a coach a real good coach is somebody that knows how to find someone and get the best out of whatever ability they have if I know all you can do is run fast I'm gonna put you in every position on the field to be able to just run fast and go play football if I know that you really strong I'm GNA put you in whatever position that you need to be in to where you can just cause havit and bulldoze people right a lot of coaches say this is my scheme you need to figure out how to work in it well that don't make sense if you got a 43 defensive end he's 65 245 and you trying to play him in a three4 scheme as a three tick or as a nose it ain't gonna work I don't care how good he is cuz he's not built for that scheme it's the same thing if you're not talking to people correctly and you cussing and fussing telling him he sucks or whatever it is that you were actually saying to him if you're saying all of these things and he's not responding in the way that you need and he's not performing better if it's not ultimately leading to wins and championships then you're not doing your job correctly as a coach so like we gotta do better and I know there are going to be people that are going to say well just don't be soft look man I get that what they're doing at that level is a lot it's a lot higher Stakes it's more money on the line that's why people get higher than fire that's why people get cut that's why people get traded because there's more money on the line there's a lot more things at stake I understand that that's even more reason why bro we gotta have a good working relationship I'm a millionaire you a millionaire you not have to talk to me crazy you know what I'm saying we and then at that my million's bigger than your million so you really not going to talk to me crazy if we keeping it a buck but if we giving each other the same amount of respect and I build that relationship with you one-on-one coaching player and I know that hey he can take harder coaching in this situation then I know how to coach you or if it's not necessarily babying him but it's that hey for me to really get out of and I might need to pull him off to the side and just tell him like this and you need to do that those are the signs of not just a good coach but the great ones those are the ones that people they say they they are motivators and all that those you know those different attributes that they got on college football 25 motivators and you know uh scheme artists and all that stuff like that you want somebody that can be a little bit of everything at times those are some of your great ones because yeah you might have great schemes and call amazing plays but if you can't communicate it in a way that people can receive it I don't care if you draw up a touchdown play every play it's not going to work because they're not going to receive it in the way that they need to because it's not being communicated the right way it's not always about what you say but it's how you say it so I hope that both guys are able to learn something from that experience and I hope that other coaches and other players are also watching and if those issues are happening in the locker rooms which I'm sure they are because not everybody is the same so there is somebody else doing the same things that Brian Flores was doing in another locker room but they got to learn from that they got to be able to adapt to that and if you can adapt to that you might need to go ahead and and hang up your hat put up your whistle so that's my take on that one bro that boy that boy was preaching bro I was about to be like dang D I want to go ahead and go ahead and get on that
